~(Y/n)'s POV~

Currently waiting in Ignis' office, I mess with a strand of my (h/c) hair. I twirled the strand around my finger over and over again until I heard the sound of footsteps. Listening closer, I could tell the person was running as fast as they could. Before I could peep out the door, it flew open to reveal a panting Ignis.

"Iggy, what's got you in such a hurry?" I ask, a little worried as I saw the look on his face.

"You must hide-now," he hastily said. Confused, I was about to question him until I heard more running footsteps. I swiftly moved to his desk and hid under, making sure I was completely out of sight. Ignis stood close to his desk and just as he was about to tell me something, the door flew open. Two unfamiliar men stormed in and began shouting at the royal advisor.

"Where is Miss (Y/n)?!" The man's tone was dripping with anger and desperation.

"As you can see, she is not here," Ignis replies coolly.

"You are to hand her over to the marshal the moment you see her, understood?" The other man glared harshly at Ignis.

"Clear as day," the tactician replies. I peep through the small hole in the desk to watch the men leave. Once they were gone, Ignis offered me a hand and helped me from my hiding spot.

"What's going on?" I ask, trying to keep myself calm.

"The weapons reports, where are they?"

"I gave them to Lorix just yesterday. What's the problem?" I was starting to grow panicked.

"I should've known..." Ignis mutters, his hold on me tightening. "He is the one who reported your betrayal to His Majesty."

"Betrayal? I haven't betrayed anyone!"

Ignis cups my cheeks in his hands, trying to calm me down. "I know, my dear. No one will touch you until this matter is resolved."

"But... if the entire Citadel is looking for me, it won't be long until they return. And if they see you're helping me, then you'll get punished, too." I tried to step away from him and run to the door, but Ignis saw what I was planning and immediately wrapped his arms around me. When I struggled to free myself, Ignis only pulled me closer and buried his face in the crook of my neck.

"I will not allow you to turn yourself in for my sake," he whispers.

"I-I can't risk you losing your job just because you were protecting me."

"(Y/n), you are innocent. I will do all in my power to keep you from incarceration."

Before I could speak up, desperate knocking came from the other side of the door. Ignis quickly pushes me behind him and stood protectively in front of me. He summoned one of his daggers, ready to stop whoever was on the other side of the door. The door flung open and Gladio stormed inside. Once my eyes connected with the shield's, he sighed in relief. "Good, she's with you."

Ignis dispelled his dagger and lowered his defenses. "How are matters within the Citadel?"

"Not good. Lorix has turned the entire Crownsguard against (Y/n). The only ones who haven't are you, me, Noct, and Prom."

"What does His Majesty think of this?" I ask, stepping from behind Ignis.

"He's having a hard time believin' you're guilty and so is the marshal."

"Well, at least I have you four on my side," I said, leaning against Ignis' desk. Just then, Noctis and Prompto stormed into the office and sighed in unison at the sight of me.

"Glad to see you're safe, (Y/n)," Noctis said with a smile.

"Yeah. The hallways are crawling with guards," Prompto exclaims. "I can't believe they think you stole the weapons reports and sent them to Niflheim."

"Is that what Lorix told everyone?" I puzzle. The two nod, their smiles drooping into frowns.

"Bastard's been wanting your position the moment he met you. Didn't expect him to do something this extreme," Gladio growls.

"We need to find those reports. Knowing Lorix, he'd hide them in his room and then claim to have gotten them back from my 'secret contact'." I pushed myself to my feet, eyeing the four men before me.

"He has a room in the Citadel. It's on the tenth floor," Noctis informs. We all gave him the same look of confusion.

"How do you-never mind," I said.

"So, we know where to go. But how do we get (Y/n) to the elevator without being spotted?" Prompto questioned.

"Guess we'll have to make a run for it," Noctis shrugs.

I stepped forward and shared my idea. "It'd be easier and quicker if the four of you go. I can run in the opposite direction and distract the guards."

"Not an option," Ignis quickly piped up. "The moment they capture you, it'll be too late. We all will trek to Lorix's room together. Gladio, I must ask you to carry her."

"No prob, Iggy." Gladio didn't hesitate and picked me up in his arms.

"Ignis, you know I can run perfectly fine," I said in a desperate attempt to be put back on my feet.

"This is for your safety," he simply replied. I sigh and let Gladio carry me without causing any trouble.

"Ready to go?" Prompto asked. We all nod and dash out the door. Guards immediately spotted us and took chase when they saw me. The four were much more quicker than the guards and we reached the elevator within minutes. The doors to the lift closed just as a horde of guards reached us. They banged on the metal doors while the elevator carried us to the tenth floor.

"Gladio, you can put me down now," I said. The brute looked towards Ignis and he nodded. Gladio places me back on my feet just as the doors open. Noctis leads us to Lorix's room, which wasn't far from the elevator. Gladio opened the door and we searched the room.

"If I were hiding important documents, where would I put them?" I whisper to myself, checking Lorix's desk. I searched his drawers until I felt something was amiss in the bottom one. The bottom of the drawer opened up, revealing a hidden compartment. "Predictable," I scoff as I pull out the weapons reports.

"You find 'em?" Gladio asked. I nodded and showed them the missing documents.

"Now, let's find His Majesty," Ignis said.

"Unnecessary."

We all turned around and spotted the marshal standing in the doorway. Ignis quickly stepped in front of me and blocked Cor.

"What do you mean 'unnecessary'?" Prompto glared at the marshal.

"Because His Majesty is already here," Cor said. He stepped aside and King Regis walked into the room. When his gaze met mine, I took a step closer to Ignis and clung to his blazer. He sent me a kind and reassuring smile before speaking. "(Y/n), I've known you for ten years and betrayal is far beyond you. I will have the glaive deal with Lorix and he shall be punished properly."

"Thank you, Your Highness. And, I gladly present the weapons reports to you, as well." I stepped towards King Regis and happily handed over the documents. His smile widens as he pats me on the shoulder. "You never disappoint, (Y/n). That is one of many reasons why I trust you."

Once the King and marshal were gone, I felt my legs grow weak and I collapsed. Ignis quickly caught my body in his arms before I could hit the floor. "I am so relieved..." I lean my head against Ignis' chest with a sigh of relief.

"Glad that's over," Prompto smiles.

"Yeah, now Lorix won't be a problem anymore," Noctis said.

"Was he causing trouble for the four of you, too?" I ask out of curiosity. They all nod in unison and told me of what the Crownsguard member had been doing. From strict training with Noctis to kicking Prompto out of the Citadel, the list never ended.

"How about we all go out for a change?" Gladio suggests. We all agree and leave the room. When I was about to enter the elevator, Ignis pulled on my arm. "We shall meet you outside."

They smirked while I was still confused at his strange behavior. The door closes, leaving just me and Ignis. I face the royal advisor with a titled head. "What's with-"

I wasn't able to ask my question as a pair of lips had sealed my own. My eyes widened at the sudden kiss, but I closed them the moment Ignis deepened it. One of his hands trailed through my (h/c) locks while the other rested on the back of my neck. When the intoxicating kiss ended, I was completely out of breath. Ignis smiled at me as he leaned his forehead against mine.

"Is that why you pulled me off the elevator?" I asked with a giggle.

"Indeed. The mere thought turned into action before I could comprehend."

"This whole time you've been thinking about kissing me?"

The only response I received was another kiss on the lips. After a sweet and passionate kiss, we called the elevator. I stared up at Ignis with a grin. "You should turn your thoughts into actions more often."

Ignis returned my grin with his own. "Shall I enact upon what I am thinking as we speak?"

"Wait 'til we're alone."

"Of course, my dear."
