189) Noctis

~(Y/n)'s POV~

Learning the location of another tomb, we began trekking up the Rock of Ravatogh. The only two who were whining were Noctis and Prompto, as usual. I rolled my eyes in annoyance and began pushing the prince up the hill as he began to lag behind. We reached a much steeper climb, making the two boys whine even more.

"Killer climb, dude," Prompto grunts.

"It's killing me," Noctis whines.

"Feeling a steep pain," Ignis joins in.

"One false step and you won't feel anything ever again," Gladio warns.

"Can we not talk about the negatives in this situation?" I ask, keeping my eyes away from the cliff next to us. Noctis knew of my acrophobia and came to my side, taking my hand in his. With our fingers entwined, we pushed through the pain and reached somewhat even ground.

Being the idiot I was, my eyes tried to see how far the drop was. Before I could get a glance, someone covered my eyes from behind and pulled me away from the ledge. I didn't even realize when Noctis had disconnected our hands to cover my eyes with them.

"Why the hell would you look down if you're afraid of heights?" He asked, my back hitting his chest.

"Y'know how people tell you not to look down?"

"Yeah, what about it?"

"It's exactly like that. Curiosity takes over fear and that's what made me wanna look."

"Seriously, don't. I don't need you falling over the edge from shock all because you got curious."

"I-I know!" I place my hands over his, which were still covering my eyes. Prying his hands off my face with my own, I turn to look over my shoulder and send him a glare. "I'm not just gonna jump off."

Noctis sighs while grabbing my hand in his once again. "Just... don't leave my side."

A huge smile spread across my face at his red tinted cheeks. I simply respond by squeezing his hand gingerly and taking a step closer to him. I knew the others were staring at us with smirks, but I couldn't care one bit.

Safely making it to a haven near the top of the volcano, we decide to relax for awhile. Noctis plops onto the ground with a huff and closes his dreary eyes. I grin and sit next to him. "I wouldn't get comfortable. You'll be stiff as a rock in that position." Noctis flies up and begins crawling towards me. Curious, I wait to see what he was planning and watch him carefully. Once he reached me, he laid his head in my lap and sighed in content.

"Now this-this is heaven," he mumbles for only me to hear. His hair tickles my legs as he adjusted to get more comfortable. Unconsciously, my hands thread through his hair and I stroke the raven locks gently. After a few minutes of silence, I watch as Noctis' eyelids flutter shut from my ministrations. I couldn't help but smile when I heard him snore lightly, signaling he was already in a deep sleep.

Gladio knelt beside me, his eyes trained on the sleeping prince. "Y'know, if you need me to drag him off of you, I'll gladly do it."

I shook my head with a smile. "No, he's fine. Let him sleep. I'll let you know when I can't feel my legs."

Gladio chuckles deeply and pats me on the back before chatting up a storm with Prompto. Ignis, on the other hand, stayed silent as he found a comfortable position to relax in. I continued to stroke Noctis' hair as he slept, making a smile appear on his sleeping face.

Two hours pass and we decide to continue our trek. Noctis, still sleeping with his head in my lap, stirs slightly when I tap him on the cheek. "Time to get up, Prince Sleepyhead. We've got a tomb to find."

"Five more minutes..." He grumbles, snuggling himself closer to me. Gladio swiftly walked over, grabbed Noctis by the collar, and set him on his feet with a low growl of annoyance. The prince showed no sign of protest as he yawned and stretched his whole body. "Give me a warning next time."

"Don't need one if you get your ass up on time," Gladio huffs.

"Which is never gonna happen," Prompto chortles.

"Only a miracle would provide such a yearning," Ignis adds.

I giggle as I get to my feet. "Too much truth behind your words, Iggy." A faint smile etched across the royal advisor's face for a second before disappearing. Noctis swats Gladio's hand away as his vision clears from the haze of sleep.

Continuing down a descending, narrow path, we run into a huge nest with a few eggs laying in wait to hatch. Prompto kept as far away as possible from the eggs once he realized how much bigger they were than him. "P-please tell me the thing that laid these isn't nearby."

I glance over my shoulder with a reassuring smile. "The Zu won't be back for another week. We're safe, Prom."

He sighs in relief and takes out his camera to take a picture of the massive nest. Noctis turned to me with a knowing grin when he heard my reassurance. "That's why you wanted us to go this week. No wonder you were shoving me out of the tent this morning."

I cross my arms and raise an eyebrow. "Would you rather be snatched up by a huge bird?"

"Hell no. That's a bad way to go."

"If you get on my nerves, I might just have to turn you into bird food."

Noctis eyes widen as he froze in place. "You wouldn't dare."

I grin wickedly and kiss him on the cheek. "Try me."
