~(Y/n)'s POV~

As we sat around the fire at a nearby haven, I fixed dinner for everyone. Due to the incident in Altissia, Ignis had lost his sight and now suffers from blindness. I've taken up cooking duty until he's able to perform without hurting himself. He was reluctant at first, but I was able to butter him up with a few reassuring words and sweet kisses in the end. We returned to Lucis in the meantime for everyone's sake.

No one complained about the dishes I chose, not even Noctis when I added a few vegetables. I was more than joyous to learn that Ignis was back to eating properly. Sadly, he would still put himself down when battles wouldn't go his way due to his missing eyesight.

As the fire began to die and Ignis was asleep in the tent with Noctis, I sat in between Gladio and Prompto, telling them of what I had been hiding. "There's a way for Ignis to be healed." Their eyes trailed over to me as I continued. "My mother told me of a spell book that contains an incantation to heal any wound when I was little. I've recently found out where the book resides."

"And you're going to look for it by yourself?" Gladio asked. I nod, leaning back in my chair while staring into the dying flames. Prompto jumped from his seat and stood in front of me with a determined look. "I'll go with you!"

"Prom, no. It's too dangerous," I protest.

"That's just another reason for me to go!"

Gladio nodded in agreement with the blonde. "He's right. Take someone along with you to watch your back. Who the hell knows what could be lurking near that book."

Prompto placed his hands together, begging me to let him accompany me. With a deep sigh, I stare into his crystalline blue irises. "Alright, you can tag along. We leave tomorrow morning at dawn. I don't want Ignis to know where we're going. You'll have to cover for us, Gladio."

"I've gotcha covered, (Y/n)."

I thank him before heading off to bed with Prompto.

-Next Morning-

Waking Prompto up at seven in the morning, we grab a few potions and depart from the haven in silence. The cave was only about two hours away on foot from the campsite. Prompto didn't even whine once, which surprised me to some extent. He tried to make me laugh with a few cheesy jokes, but I ended up giggling at his own goofy laughter. He claimed it as a victory and then changed the subject.

After our feet carried us to our destination, I could feel the cold and nippy air slipping from the cave. Prompto stood next to me with a fearful expression. "A-are you sure this is the right place?"

"Positive. Let's get this book and head back to the others so I can heal Ignis."

Prompto shook his fear away and entered the cave by my side. Luckily, the path didn't diverge too many times or we would've been lost in the cave system. The only daemons we have encountered are Imps and Goblins, but I felt a much darker presence deeper within.

"Y'know, if this place wasn't so creepy, I'd like to explore it more," Prompto admits.

"Too bad it's crawling with little, ankle-gnawing daemons," I snicker. Prompto snorts with laughter at my comment.

The darkness blooms more sinister as we descended a strange stone stairwell that seemed to be man-made. With my sword drawn and Prompto's pistol at the ready, we prepared for what was waiting for us at the bottom of the stairs.

We found ourselves in an intricately designed chamber. The spell book we were searching for awaited us upon a stone throne in the middle of the room. When I went to grab the book, a presence froze me in my steps. Glancing behind at Prompto, a Mindflayer much larger than a normal one loomed over the boy. He sensed my distress and turned to see what had me paralyzed. Once seeing the daemon only inches from him, a screech erupted from him as he backed away and fired a few rounds at the Mindflayer.

Snapping out of my paralysis, I joined the fight and helped Prompto kill the daemon. It may have been much larger than normal Mindflayers, but it was still no match for us. I dispel my blade and pick up the spell book. With a victorious bellow, Prompto pumped his fist into the air. With the book in my grasp, we leave the eerie cave.

When we were safe, my phone rings and I pick it up without skipping a beat. Gladio's deep voice rumbled on the other end as he told me they were heading to Lestallum in a few minutes. He had told Ignis and Noctis that we would be there waiting for them. I thank him before hanging up and slipping the device back into my pocket.

"What'd the big guy have to say?" Prompto asked.

"We're to meet them in Lestallum. Apparently, Gladio told them we were heading there to restock our curatives. We need to rent a couple of chocobos and make sure we beat them there."

Prompto and I run to the nearest outpost and rented two birds. With our new rides, we reached Lestallum within ten minutes. Another fifteen minutes flew by before the Regalia pulled into its normal parking spot with Noctis at the wheel. Gladio assisted Ignis out of the car and guided him to the hotel.

Before I could enter the lobby, Prompto grabbed my arm and yanked me backwards. He quickly apologizes for the rough treatment, but he kept his hold on my arm. I could tell something was bothering him and decided to listen. "(Y/n), I-I know you and Iggy are a couple, but..."

"What is it, Prom?"

Closing the distance between us, Prompto placed his lips upon mine. I was in complete and utter shock at the sudden affection from the blonde. My mind shut down and I had no idea how long the kiss had lasted. When I snapped back to reality, Prompto had put some distance between us.

"I-I'm so sorry! I-I can't believe I just did that!" He runs two frantic hands through his hair as he paces back and forth.

"Prompto, I'm sorry, but... I love Ignis and only Ignis. I'm sure you'll find a girl who loves you more than anything or anyone else on all of Eos."

"Sorry 'bout kissing you out of the blue."

I shook my head and patted him on the back. "Just don't tell Iggy. I'm not sure how well he'll handle it." Prompto nods and we head inside the Leville. Once we reached the guys' room, Gladio and Noctis stood in front of the door. "Specs just wants to see (Y/n) for now," Noctis informs.

"Once I'm done healing him, I'll let you three inside."

~3rd Person POV~

The room (Y/n) entered was dimly lit. Her eyes trailed to Ignis, who was sitting on the edge of the bed with his head in his hands. Worry seeped through ever vein in her body as she drew closer to him. "Iggy, are you alright?" Her voice came out much more softer than she thought. Ignis didn't move a single inch once he heard her voice. The only response she got was a sorrowful sigh.

"What's wrong?" (Y/n) asked.

After a few more seconds of silence, he finally spoke to her. "I never pitted you to be a woman who'd do such a thing."

(Y/n) froze, completely baffled at the response she received. "What are you talking about?"

"Your infatuation with Prompto. How long, (Y/n)?"

"I have no clue what you're talking about, Iggy. I only-"

"Do not lie to me," he snaps harshly. (Y/n) flinches from his tone, almost dropping the spell book. She could feel her heart shatter and tears sting her eyes, wanting to break free from their prison. With a shaky voice, she answered with her own question. "You think I would cheat on you?"

"Noctis and Gladio informed me of your scene in front of the hotel."

"And you assume I cheated on you with Prompto?"

When she received no response, her heart shattered even more. The tears poured from her eyes, but she refused to let him hear her breakdown. Pushing through her heartbreak, she walked over to him and opened the spell book to the healing incantation. "Once I've healed you, I'll leave you alone."

Placing her hands on his face, (Y/n) began the incantation with a shaky voice. She was able to push through the spell and watch as Ignis' scars healed and his eyesight returned.

As Ignis opened his eyes, the first sight he is greeted with is a tearful (Y/n). His now healed eyes open wide in sorrow and grief. This was not the sight he had wished to see when he first opened his eyes, but he knew he was the reason behind her tears and sniffles. By the time all of it sank in, his whole body was wracked with guilt. He had called her a cheater without even hearing her side of the story. He stretched out for her, but she moved out of his reach. "(Y/n), I-"

"Make sure to stay away from bright lights until you've adjusted to your sight." With those words, she left the spell book and him in the room. When the door closed behind her, all he could hear was her cries and running footsteps. Ignis darted to the door, wanting to go after her and immediately apologize for his accusations. He was stopped when the door opened before he could lay a hand on the knob. "What the hell happened in here?" Gladio asked.

"I... I am a fool," Ignis mutters gloomily. He leans against a nearby wall, replaying all that had happened.

"(Y/n) was crying. What'd you do to her?" Prompto asked with a slight hint of anger in his tone.

"I made a horrible accusation."

"And what accusation is that?" Noctis questioned.

"I accused her of cheating."

"Wait, cheating? She'd never do that!" Prompto hollers. The blonde saw Gladio and Noctis look away in shame from the corner of his eye. He turned and faced them to see what the problem was. "What did you two do?!"

Gladio rubbed the back of his neck in utter shame. "We saw you two kiss and told Iggy."

Prompto felt anger bubbling within him at their confession. "You two thought she was playing with Ignis and messin' around with me?" They both nod without looking at the fuming sharpshooter. Prompto's fist clenched even tighter at his side. "I can't believe it! She loves Ignis more than anyone! She told me herself! How could you?!"

No one could answer the blonde. The trio felt so much remorse that they couldn't even talk. Prompto then flicked his eyes to Ignis. The tactician looked more guilty than Gladio and Noctis combined. "I can't believe you, Iggy. She... she loves you more than anything and anyone. The whole time we were looking for that spell book, she was only thinking about you. (Y/n) put herself in danger to bring the book back to heal your eyes. She could've stayed quiet about the book, but she didn't. She's the reason why you can see again!"

This was the first time he was hearing this. Gladio had told him that she and Prompto were heading to Lestallum for curatives that could help with his pain, but in reality, she was looking for a spell book that could save his sight. No amount of words or expression could help him convey how much guilt he felt. He accused her of disloyalty, the worst thing he could've done. Ignis pushes himself off the wall and stormed out of the room to search for (Y/n).

Running through the streets of Lestallum, he searched every nook and cranny for her. He stopped in the middle of the market and pulled out his phone to dial her number. When it went straight to voicemail, he cursed under his breath and shoved the device back into his pocket. After his attempt to call her failed, he asked people around him if they had seen the girl.

"A girl with (h/c) hair and (e/c) eyes ran through here crying not long ago. She was heading to the outlook," an older woman said. Ignis thanked her and dashed to the outlook.

Arriving at his destination, he heard sniffling and whimpering from nearby. His eyes found the source of the sound to see it was (Y/n), hugging her knees and hiding her face with her hands. The heartbreak grew even more inside him at the heart wrenching sight. Ignis approached slowly to not alarm her and cause the girl to scurry away out of his reach. Kneeling to her height, he gingerly pried her hands away from her face to see red and irritated eyes he caused.

"Go ahead and insult me like you did earlier. Make sure to not miss anything of what you're thinking," She hiss through her sniffles. Ignis' whole being shook with regret at her words.

"I must apologize for what I said." His voice was much lower than usual as he spoke. "Prompto informed me of what transpired on your journey to search for the spell book. I should have not accused you of such an act. It's through your knowledge and skills I am able to gaze upon your beauty once again."

(Y/n)'s tears ceased, her (e/c) eyes meeting with his emerald ones. "I wanted to tell you about the book, but I knew you would refuse if I told you the dangers to reaching it. I... I wanted you to have your eyesight back. Every time you talked down to yourself after a battle, it felt like someone was stabbing me in the chest. I knew my words weren't reaching, so I decided to pursue the spell book."

"And all I did to repay you was proclaim false accusation. I am terribly sorry for not listening to your side of the story. I am a man who seeks both sides of a story but ended up blinded by anger. I pray... you will forgive me, my dear." He leaned in and rested his forehead against his, hoping she would accept his apology.

Not speaking a single syllable, (Y/n) leaned forward and kissed him on the lips. Ignis, with his renewed eyesight, got lost in her beautiful (e/c) eyes as she kissed him. Pulling away slightly, he could see the gorgeous smile that graced her features lovingly, making him fall in love with her all over again.

Falling to his knees, he wrapped his arms around (Y/n)'s smaller frame and kissed her deeply. When she reciprocated his affection with an even deeper kiss, he felt all the sorrow and guilt wash away. Happiness overtook him entirely and he couldn't help but show it through the kiss.

After freeing each other from the passionate moment, Ignis kept his hold on (Y/n). "Shall we have an evening to ourselves?"

She smiled brightly and kissed him on the cheek. "I'd love to."
