~(Y/n)'s POV~
While in Altissia, Ignis and I were walking around. The others were with First Secretary Camelia. She had sent both of us away for some strange reason. We tried to figure out why, but all of our theories didn't make any sense.
Another hour passes before Ignis receives a call from Noctis. While he chatted on the phone, I felt a dark presence and gazed up to the sky above. A fleet of Niflheim Dreadnoughts littered the beautiful sky and blocked the sun's rays.
"Ignis..." I tug on his shirt and point up. He snaps his head to the sky with wide eyes. His face soon became serious as I began to hear Noctis yelling on the other end. Ignis ended the call and faced me. "We need to evacuate the citizens." I nod and we began rounding people up and guiding them to safety. The Dreadnoughts began dropping explosives and I acted quickly. I placed a barrier around the people to protect them. Once the bombardment ceased, Ignis grabbed my hand and guided me through the panicking crowd.
"There they are!" Prompto shouts as he points to us. Gladio told Ignis to help the people that were stuck in buildings. "I'll place a barrier around us incase the Dreadnoughts drop more explosives," I said.
"We're counting on you, (Y/n)," Gladio said. I smile and cast a barrier large enough to protect the four of us and the frightened people. More explosives were dropped and my barrier held the explosions at bay. They kept coming and I felt my barrier weakening. I fell to my knees, my barrier collapsing with me. One of the airships was dropping another explosive in Ignis' direction.
"Ignis, look out!" I shout. I scramble to my feet and everything felt as if it was in slow motion. Even though my mana was depleted, I ran with all I had. When the explosive was close, I knew I wasn't going to make it, unless...
"Dammit!"
I use all I have left to transform.
~3rd Person POV~
Prompto tried to warn Ignis of the approaching explosive, but it was too close for him to move to safety. He prepared for the explosion, but all he felt was an intense heat and talons wrapping around his body. He was protected by a pair of beautiful reddish-yellow wings that deflected the explosive. Once he was safe, Ignis looked up and his eyes widened at the sight.
He heard Gladio and Prompto gasp at the Phoenix that loomed over him. Ignis saw Prompto summon his pistol. "Prompto, no!" Ignis shouts. His message didn't reach the blonde before he had pulled the trigger. The Phoenix screeches in pain and backs away from Ignis.
"Wait, where's (Y/n)?" Gladio asked. Ignis broke his gaze from the Phoenix to where he last saw her. When she wasn't anywhere, Ignis connected the pieces. He snaps his attention back to the Phoenix and tries to approach it. The bird backs away even more and begins to take-off. He tried to stop it, but the gusts from its wings kept him away. He watched as the Phoenix began heading towards Noctis, Luna, and Leviathan.
When he ran to follow the bird, Gladio grabbed him by the arm. "What the hell are you doing?" The bodyguard asked with anger and shock. "Yeah, that thing could've pecked your eyes out!" Prompto yells.
"Do not call her a 'thing'!" Ignis snapped. Prompto and Gladio both flinched at his sudden loud voice. They've never seen him get so angry over something. "What's going on?" Gladio questions, letting go of Ignis. "That... was (Y/n)." It took a few seconds for them to absorb the information. The first to react was Prompto. "O-oh, Gods... I-I shot her..." His hands shook as he remembered firing his pistol at her.
"How do you know?" Gladio asked with crossed arms. "She shielded me from an explosion that could've inflicted severe wounds," Ignis replies in a snap. "You also must realize the Phoenix is a legendary creature who is violent in nature. One would not just swoop down and protect anyone," he added. Seeing that Gladio was convinced, Ignis chased after the bird.
<--------<<<<<
(Y/n) had flown over to check on Noctis. Even though the pain in her leg was excruciating, she pushed through and circled Leviathan. The Astral had knocked Noctis off and he began to fall to the powerful waves below. Quickly swooping in, she catches the prince on her back.
Noctis looked into her eyes and his widened as he recognized her with ease. "(Y/n), what are you doing here?" He asked. She screeches happily and Noctis smiles. "I owe you big time," he said. She flew back to Leviathan and assisted him in battle to prove his worth.
When (Y/n) spotted a familiar airship heading towards Luna, she immediately acted. Her wings carried her all the way to Luna's side as Ardyn exited the airship. A knife glinted in his hands, making her screech loudly to get the Oracle's attention. Luna heard her and immediately took a few steps back. (Y/n) knocked the knife out of the chancellor's hand with her talons. She circled around and landed protectively in front of Lady Lunafreya.
Ardyn gritted his teeth and knew he could not get passed the Phoenix before him. "It seems my plan went awry. A small catalyst such as you proves to be a much bigger obstacle I had not planned for," he said under his breath with a scowl. With those words, he headed back onto his ship. Luna laid a hand on (Y/n)'s feathers and thanked her before giving her pleading eyes. "Please, help Noctis," she begs. (Y/n) nods and takes off to the skies once again. Her aid was just enough to help Noctis receive Leviathan's blessing. The prince had lost consciousness, but (Y/n) caught him and gently handed him over to Luna. She thanks her once again before (Y/n) disappears.

When Noctis had finally awoken, he realized he was in a soft bed. His body jolted up with a gasp and he quickly looked around, spotting Ignis in a chair not far from the bed.
"What happened?" Noctis asked, disoriented from the previous events. Ignis filled the prince in with what happened. He even mentioned Luna was safe and sound. Noctis sighs in relief as he gets to his feet. "It's all thanks to (Y/n). She protected Luna and helped deal with Leviathan."
At the sound of her name, Ignis gripped the chair tightly. He hung his head and refused to meet the prince's gaze. Noctis immediately notices Ignis' broken form. "Ignis, what's wrong?" The advisor bit his bottom lip and finally prepared himself to tell the truth about (Y/n). "After receiving the blessing, she vanished."
Noctis' eyes widened at the news. He stormed over to Ignis and stood in front of him. "What do you mean "vanished"?"
"Lady Lunafreya informed us of her disappearance to the skies above. No traces of her have been discovered of where she has headed."
Noctis clenched his hands into fists with gritted teeth. "We'll ask around. Someone must've seen what direction she flew in."
"Noct--"
"I know about that ring in your pocket. You were going to propose to (Y/n) before we left Altissia."
Ignis was completely shocked. He didn't know Noctis knew about the ring or when he would propose to (Y/n). His hand unconsciously traveled to the pocket that hid the ring. Ignis pulls out the box protecting the ring and opens it.
His melancholy eyes were glued to the beautiful blue gem that decorated the silver band. Noctis placed a hand on his shoulder and squeezed gently. "We'll find her, I promise." With his heart still shattered, he placed the box back in his pocket. The two left the room to find Prompto and Gladio.
Once they found their friends, Noctis saw Prompto was in the same state as Ignis. He was pacing back and forth while running his hands through his hair. "Prom, stop," Gladio said. This made the blonde snap. "I can't! I shot her! How am I supposed to stay calm knowing I could be the reason she ran away?!"
Noctis eyes widens at Prompto's words. Gladio saw and told him about what happened while evacuating Altissia. Ignis heart ached even more as he remembered the events that had unfolded. She had protected him from death and now she was gone. "Let's ask around. Someone was bound to see what direction she headed," Gladio said. They all rush out to the streets and began asking tons of people.
After an hour of asking, Gladio was able to find a person who saw which way she was heading. He texted the others and they regrouped. "So, where to, Gladio?" Noctis asked.
"She was heading towards the Duscae region. Our best chance of finding her is getting the hunters on our side," he replied.
"It would prove more efficient if we did have eyes everywhere. We shall consult Dave about (Y/n) and ask for assistance," Ignis said. They all agreed and crossed the sea to reach Leide. Arriving in Galdin Quay, the group headed to the Regalia. Ignis drive all the way to Prairie Outpost without stopping for anything. He was having tunnel vision as only one person was on his mind-- (Y/n).
They finally arrive and found Dave. Noctis didn't skip a detail as to what he was asking. "I'll get right on it. Contacting you will be first priority if any of the hunters find anythin'. Do ya have a picture of the young lady?"
Ignis was the first to react. He pulled out his phone and showed him his background. It was of a smiling (Y/n) with her sparkling (e/c) eyes full of joy and her gleaming (h/c) slightly ruffled because of the breeze. She had snuck the picture onto his phone without him knowing and made it his background. Ever since, he's refused to change it.
"Alright, we'll get started right away. Y'all should get some rest. Don't wanna be a mess when we find her," Dave smiled. The group called it a day and rested in a nearby caravan. As they were heading to bed, the only one who couldn't sleep was Ignis. He had found himself outside, the cool breeze gently caressing his skin. As memories of (Y/n) flooded his mind, he closed his eyes with a sad smile. The picture on his phone was all he could rely on at the moment. He pulled out the device and gazed at the beautiful girl on his screen. The ring in his pocket felt as if it were weighing him down. Once she was back and safe in his arms, he would propose. His eyes traveled to the starry sky above. His eyes closed once more as the night continued on.
-Two Months Later-
As Prompto was walking around Lestallum, he heard two hunters talking in front of the gas station. One word had caught his attention-- Phoenix. His eyes widen and he listens closely. "Yeah, they spotted it flying just west of the Disc. It was injured and forced to land. I heard a group of hunters were going to collect the reward."
Prompto immediately broke into a sprint. He ran to the hotel and was completely out of breath when he found the others. "G-guys, I know where (Y/n) is!"
Ignis immediately flew to his feet as Prompto explained what he heard. The advisor turned to Noctis with a serious expression. "Contact Dave. Tell him to call off the hunters in pursuit of the Phoenix." Noctis quickly calls him and was able to call off the hunters. They headed to the Regalia and sped off.
<------<<<<
"I can't believe we lost a great prize!" They heard a hunter yell when they parked. Ignis kept his anger in check as he passed the group of hunters Prompto mentioned. Ignoring their complaints, he ran to where the hunters had just came from. A small cave greeted him once he found where some talon markings were located.
He stayed at the entrance and looked into the darkness. When he did, a pair of golden eyes met his emerald ones. "(Y/n)," he called her name gently. Taking a step closer to her, he noticed she was in her human form. His eyes trailed all over her body and noticed the bandage around her leg.
"Ignis," she softly whispers his name. Hearing her voice was like music to his ears. Tears poured from her eyes as she stepped out of the shadows. With no hesitation at all, he took her in his arms. Ignis cradled her head against his chest and laid his other arm around her waist. Resting his chin atop her head, he inhaled her heavenly scent he had missed. The feeling of her skin against his made his heart mend the broken pieces. After what felt like hours, he let go and guided her to the car where everyone else was. While walking, he noticed she had a slight limp due to the injury, but he knew she would be fine. He also noticed her eyes were back to their original (e/c) tint.
Their hands stayed interlocked as the Regalia and the others came into view. Prompto flew out of the car and ran over. He stopped right in front of (Y/n) with tears in his eyes. "I-I'm so sorry, (Y/n). I-if I hadn't fired--"
(Y/n) silenced him with a smile. She let go of Ignis and gave the blonde a warm, gentle hug to calm him down. "Don't apologize, Prom. You had no idea it was me. I would've done the same thing if I were you." Prompto's sorrowful tears turned into happy ones as he hugged the small girl in return. After the hug, they pulled apart and Gladio walked over with Noctis beside him. "Glad to have you back, shorty," he teases. (Y/n) lightly smacks him on the arm with a brilliant smile.
"I wanted to thank you for helping Luna, (Y/n). Without you, she wouldn't be alive and I wouldn't have received Leviathan's blessing," Noctis said.
"I'm glad I was helpful," she replies joyfully. The prince then looks at Ignis with a smirk. "And I think Specs has something to ask. We'll give you guys some space." Him, Gladio, and Prompto give the two lovers some time to themselves.
"(Y/n)," Ignis calls her name to grab her attention. She immediately turns to face him with the smile he fell in love with. He took her small hands in his and squeezed them gently. Their eyes met and neither of them looked away. "I wish to thank you for your actions in Altissia. I would not be here if you had not acted as a shield."
"I know you would've done the same for me. I wasn't going to reach you in time unless I did transform. I guess that's one way to spill a secret," she responds. He smiled and leaned his forehead against hers. He freed one of his hands from hers and pulled out the box in his pocket. Confused at his actions, (Y/n) tilts her head to the side. Ignis drops to one knee while keeping ahold of one of her hands.
"(Y/n), will you do me the honor of becoming my wife?"
Her eyes slowly began to widen at his proposal. Tears poured from the corners of her eyes as she nodded with a smile. "Yes, I'd love to, Ignis." His smile widens as he slides the ring onto her finger. The beautiful ring fit perfectly and complimented her alluring smile. He got up from his kneeling position and cupped her cheeks in his gloved hands. He drew circles under her eyes with his thumbs as he brought her into a passionate kiss that grew deeper and deeper by the second.
When the two were pulled back to reality after their kiss, the others returned with smiles. Prompto pulled out his camera and took a picture of the happy couple. "So... can I be the cameraman for the wedding?" He asked with a huge smile. (Y/n) giggles and rests her head against Ignis' chest.
"Of course, Prom. We wouldn't ask for anyone else."
