~(Y/n)'s POV~
Being friends with Holly and Cindy were always an adventure, especially when they dragged me to Assassin's Festival. The two even provided robes and asked me to wear them until the festival ended. Since I'm too easily persuaded, I listened to them.
Cindy had just texted me to meet her at the festival. Apparently, she wants me to meet some of her other friends. Getting ready, I change into the comfortable robes. I made sure to lock my door as I left.
Walking through the streets during the festival made Lestallum bustle with life. Beautiful lights and decorations hung everywhere. People dressed in different assassin robes and having fun made the festival even more exciting.
"There's our gal!" Cindy shouts as she spots me. Holly turns around and waves at me with a warm smile. I descend the steps to see a group of men with them, wearing assassin robes. I smirk and cross my arms as I see the two of them smiling like school girls.
"So, you both hitting on guys during the festival?" Holly sent me a playful glare. I just shrug and keep my smirk. "These are the friends I was talkin' about," Cindy said. I faced the men and smiled. "A pleasure to meet you all. I'm (Y/n)."
The closest man to me introduced himself first. "Ignis Scientia. A pleasure, (Y/n)." His curt and clean bow caught me by surprise along with his accent. My smile widened as our eyes met.
The others introduced themselves with sweet and kind gestures. Cindy bounded over to me and placed a hand on my shoulder. "Our sweet (Y/n) here is a Historian. If y'all have any questions, send 'em her way."
"You and Specs would get along perfectly," Noctis replies with a smirk. My eyes traveled to Ignis to see he was looking at me with curious emerald eyes. When I turned to face Cindy, all of them had vanished, leaving Ignis and I by ourselves. "I swear..." I groan under my breath. With a deep breath, I spun to face Ignis. "Would you like to see the festival together?" I ask, keeping my voice from shaking in embarrassment.
"Certainly," he responds with a smile. I mentally sigh in relief at his reply. My heart raced in my chest as we began to enjoy the festival together. Our taste buds had taken us to new places and Ignis came up with a new recipe at one of the stands.
While walking through the streets, I spotted Niflheim's Brigadier General, Loqi. He was followed by a fleet of Magitek troopers as he walked through the streets. One of the Magiteks had rammed into my shoulder, causing me to fall.
Ignis had grabbed me before I had hit the hard ground below. He pulls me to my feet gingerly and I thank him profusely. "No need, (Y/n)," he said.
"Niflheim could use some real soldiers and not waste perfectly good technology..." I grumble. My words earned a faint laugh from Ignis. "It seems we agree upon more than I thought," he said.
While continuing to enjoy the festival, Ignis and I took turns asking questions about each other. We had much more in common than I imagined. After that, he asked me about being a Historian. "I'm originally from Altissia. Thanks to a countless number of people, I was able to gain access to some very ancient books. It helped my writings advance much further than I could've imagined."
"You are from Altissia?" He asked, shock apparent in his voice.
"Yes, I left a few years ago. I bought a place here and met Holly. She introduced me to Cindy when I was having car trouble."
"Similar to how we met Cindy as well."
Our conversation came to a halt when Loqi's voice silenced us. He brought up Holly's name and looked around for some strange reason. His eyes scanned the crowd until they stopped on me. I stiffen as he nods in my direction. Two Magiteks began making their way over.
"Let's go," Ignis said and took my hand. He spun me around and we began running. "Stop her!" Loqi shouts. Ignis tightened his grip on my hand as we ran through the streets of Lestallum. The heavy footsteps emitting from the Magiteks made fear consume my body.
Ignis guided me all the way to Leville. We hid inside the lobby, watching the Magiteks pass by. I sigh in relief and sink to the cold tile beneath me. "Thank the Six they're gone..." I close my eyes and lean my head against the wall.
"It seems Loqi has knowledge of your connections to Holly," Ignis said, kneeling in front of me.
"If he wants Holly, he must want access to the power plant," I state. Ignis helps me to my feet, steadying me as I held on to him. When I glanced out of the window, the sun had set. "Oh, I didn't even know we were out all day," I comment.
"Indeed. Time flies in your company," Ignis smiled down at me.
"You're too sweet, Ignis," I shyly said, my cheeks burning with a red tint. I checked the time to see it was becoming late. I reluctantly let go of Ignis and took a step back. "I really enjoyed our time together. I hope... we can spend even more time together."
Ignis smiles and nods. "I desire more time with you as well, (Y/n)." I built up the courage and gave him a kiss on the cheek. "Goodnight, Ignis." I head out of the hotel and back to my apartment.
~3rd Person POV~
Ignis placed a hand over the cheek (Y/n) had kissed. He watched as the beautiful girl left the hotel to head home for the night.
"Iggy's found a special someone~!"
Prompto's bubbly voice made the advisor turn. The others were watching him with playful smirks. He sighs at their childish behavior and ignores the blonde's comment.
"So, how did it go?" Noctis asked.
"Very well," he simply replies.
"Give us details!" Prompto begs.
"My affairs are none of your business. Prying into someone's evening is insolent."
"We were just curious. After all, we've never seen you so lovestruck before," Gladio chuckled. Ignis did hold special feelings for (Y/n), even though they had just met. He has never met someone so intriguing as her.
"Why were the two of you hiding?" Prompto asked, changing the subject.
"Brigadier General Loqi is currently in town. He knows of (Y/n)'s connection to Holly and sent Magiteks after her," Ignis responds with a grave expression.
"Will she be safe by herself?" Gladio asked. Ignis' face soon clouded over with worry. Noctis noticed his change of behavior. "Go find her. Loqi might know where she lives."
Without hesitating, Ignis storms out of the hotel. He passes countless of people trying to find the girl. The advisor frantically scanned every street of Lestallum. He knew he should've walked her home, or better yet, he should've told her to spend the night at Leville.
As he checked the main street, he spotted a familiar figure buying a book from a stand. She turned and her (e/c) eyes met with his emerald ones. (Y/n) tried to weave through the crowd, but there were too many people. Ignis looked for a way to her, but what he found made his heart race. Two Magiteks were heading straight for her.
(Y/n) glanced to where his gaze was glued to. She gasped and saw the Magiteks were closing in. Her eyes met once more with Ignis' as she ran away from the Magiteks. He made sure to keep her in his sights and follow the Historian. When one of the Magiteks reached out for her, he summoned a dagger and threw it. The dagger pierced straight through the machine's chest.
She continued to weave her way through the throng of people to reach him. Once she was in arm's reach, he grabbed her hand. Shoving through more people, he made sure to hold on to (Y/n)'s hand tightly.
"Ignis, I have an idea."
He listened to her plan and nodded. The two of them pulled the hood of their robes over their heads. They delved deeper into the crowd to blend in. As the Magiteks looked around, (Y/n) unconsciously grips Ignis' hand tightly. He could feel her body was shaking from her hands.
The Magiteks soon passed, making both of them relax. "I'm glad I found you in time," he whispers to her. "I-I am, too. If you didn't kill that one Magitek, who knows what they would've done." They let go of each other's hands simultaneously. Ignis bent down to her height and took her cheeks in his hands.
"It would be safer if you stayed at Leville until all is well," he whispers. She nods and Ignis takes her back to the hotel. He paid for her room and guided her to it. The room she was given is right next to his.
"So, if anything happens, do I just scream?"
"I will not let anything happen to you, (Y/n)."
Her cheeks began to ignite with red at his sweet words. She placed her hands over her warm cheeks to hide them from him. Ignis smiled and placed a hand on her head, pulling the hood down. He pulled her hands away from her face and kissed her on the cheek.
"I will see you in the morning. Sleep well, (Y/n)."
"G-goodnight, Ignis."
