~(Y/n)'s POV~

While walking through the streets of Insomnia, Noctis held my hand tightly. We just finished dinner and were heading back to his apartment. We didn't make it far when we were stopped by a group of men. Noctis stood in front of me protectively as the leader of the group stepped up.

"What the hell do you want?" Noctis spat.

"Oh, nothing. We just heard the prince got a new girlfriend. Came to check out who the lucky girl was."

"Never knew it would've been Tenol's old girlfriend," another man said. I froze up at the sound of my ex-boyfriend's name. Noctis noticed and squeezed the hand he still held to comfort me.

"He's gonna love this!" One laughs.

"You know, Tenol wants ya back," the leader states.

"Tell him to go hit on another girl. I'm done with his controlling ass," I fire back.

"Oh, no... he wants you, (Y/n). He promised us and pretty gil if we were to bring you back," another one states.

Noctis took up a defensive position in front of me with a dagger in his free hand. The group of men surrounded us with ease. Noctis gritted his teeth in annoyance. I could tell he didn't want to result to fighting. Before I could tell him what I was thinking, one man tried to grab me. Noctis quickly pulled me close and held the dagger at the man's throat.

"Don't touch her," he growled in an abnormally low voice. All the men lunged at us all at once. Noctis warped us to safety not far from them. "Stop them!" The leader shouts. More men emerged from the alleyway behind us. Noctis handled them without a problem. While more men appeared, Noctis suddenly shouted in my direction. When I turned around, one man swung his fist in my direction. Before impact, Noctis had jumped in front of me. He took the blow to the head and fell to the ground. His dagger fell out of his hand as his head hit the hard ground with a crack.

My eyes widened as I saw that Noctis wasn't moving. "N-Noct?" I kneel next to his body. I went to touch him, but I pulled away at the last second. Blood began to pool under his head.

"Grab her," the leader said. I began to shake as I couldn't hold my powers at bay. With precision, I aimed at each man and sent an electrical spell through their bodies. All of them fell unconscious from the powerful magic.

I slumped forward as I helped Noctis. Tears fell from my eyes as I supported his body with mine. His blood dropped on me, but I didn't care one bit. I took him to a nearby hospital. It was closer than calling for help.

When I entered the hospital, I began shouting for help. Nurses ran to me and placed Noctis on a gurney. I couldn't move as I watched them take him back. With more tears, I sank to my knees on the cold floor.

I don't know how long I stayed like that. No one dared to try and move me from the spot I collapsed.

"(Y/n)?" The familiar voice made me jolt up. Prompto stood in the doorway of the entrance to the hospital. His eyes widened when I met my (e/c) ones with his blue irises. He ran to me and helped me to my feet. "The doctor called me," he informed.

"Did... did he say anything about Noct?" I asked in fear. Prompto looked away sadly.

"He's... he's in a coma."

"It's my fault..." I mumble as my knees give out from under me. Prompto gasped and supported my body before I could fall. He wrapped his arms around me, pulling my body into a hug. "No, no, no! Don't say that!"

"It is! I should've known Tenol was still after me! If I had stayed away from Noctis, none of this would've happened!"

I yanked my body free from Prompto's. Tears streamed down his cheeks as his eyes were glued to me. I backed away and hugged myself. "Noctis shouldn't be in a coma. I'm the one who should be. I never should've gone out with him. I... I need to get some fresh air."

Prompto reached out to grab me, but I moved out of his way. "(Y/n), please..." he begs. I shook my head and ran out the doors. I sat on a nearby bench, trying to calm myself down. The cool, crisp breeze caressed my cheeks as my tears finally dried up. I pulled my knees up to my chest and hid my face.

"There you are."

Peeking up, I saw Gladio looking down at me with sad eyes. I didn't say a word as he sat next to me.

"Prom told me what you said and I'm here to knock some sense into you."

"All of what I said is true. Noctis would be awake and goofing around if he and I weren't dating."

"That's where you're wrong, (Y/n)."

I lift my head up and look at him with confusion. Gladio began to smile as he stared up at the night sky.

"When Noct found out you were dating another guy, he was devastated. Every time we trained, he'd never give it his all. I asked him why and he told me every detail."

His words made my eyes widen. This was the first time I was hearing this. Once Gladio noticed my expression, he began to grin. "When he learned you broke up, he jumped and hollered. I've never seen him so giddy before. He ran into walls and tripped over his own feet as he kept trying to figure a way to ask you out."

"He... he was happy?" I ask. Gladio nods and messes with my hair.

"I've watched him for years and I can tell you this; you are the best thing to ever happen to him. He got more serious about training, always mumbling about protecting you. Also, he's always staring at a picture of you with googly eyes."

I laugh and smile at the image of him doing such a thing. Gladio saw my smile and placed a hand on my shoulder.

"Noct needs you more than ever, (Y/n). Stay by his side and make sure to keep that stupid smile of his on his face."

I wiped a few stray tears away and nodded. "I will, Gladio. But first, I need to apologize to Prompto. I snapped at him for no reason. Thank you." I got to my feet and headed back into the hospital. When I found Prompto, I saw him sulking in a chair not far from the entrance. With small steps, I walk over to him. I grabbed his hands and pried them away from his eyes.

"Prom, I'm so sorry for what I said earlier. Gladio made me see the error of my ways. I promise, I will never leave Noctis alone, nor you. You're a dear friend who could never be replaced."

More tears fell from his eyes as he threw his arms around me. He cried tears of joy as I stroked his blonde hair.

"Are you (Y/n)?"

Our happy moment was interrupted when a nurse called out to me. I nod and let go of Prompto. She informed us that Noctis was able to breathe by himself while in the coma, which was a good sign. They weren't sure when he would wake up, though. "Can... can we see him?" I ask. The nurse nods and leads us to the third floor. We enter Noctis' room and heard the steady beep of the heart monitor.

"Hey, buddy," Prompto greets, even though Noctis couldn't hear him. We sat by his bed and began talking as if he was awake. I took ahold of his hand as Prompto began telling cheesy jokes.

Hours pass and the nurse told us to head home. Before we left, I gave Noctis a kiss on the cheek. Prompto and I finally left the hospital around three in the morning. "See ya tomorrow?" Prompto asked.

"Definitely."

-Two Months Later-

My phone began to ring in the middle of the night. When I saw Ignis' name pop up on the screen, I knew it must've been an emergency.

"Iggy, what's wrong?" I ask as I place the phone up to my ear.

"Come to the hospital immediately," he said and hung up. I flew out of bed and changed in a flash. With my phone in my pocket, I ran out of the front door, not caring to even lock it.

My legs carried me all the way to the hospital. I ran passed the nurses station and straight into Noctis' room.

"You owe me five hundred gil, big guy."

I stopped in my tracks as I heard the one voice I've missed in the past two months. My eyes widened as they laid on an awoken Noctis. He smiled and waved at me casually. My body didn't move as Prompto came over and waved a hand in front of my face.

"Dude, I think you broke her," he laughs. Ignis smiled as he tugged me towards Noctis. I stood next to the bed while my eyes were glued to the prince. I opened my mouth to speak but nothing came out. Noctis grinned as he reached out to me. He grabbed my cheeks and pulled me forward. Our lips collided in a matter of seconds.

Noctis pulled me even closer to deepen the kiss. The others had left and given us time to ourselves. My paralysis was broken and I ran my hands through his raven hair. Our long kiss was ended when both of us needed to come up for air. My body felt weak from the kiss, so I sat down on his bed to keep myself from falling to the floor.

"Prom told me all that happened. I'm glad you're safe, (Y/n)," he whispered as he hugged me in his warm embrace. I wrapped my arms around him and buried my face in his chest. We stayed like that until I gasped.

"Something wrong?" Noctis worriedly asked. I shook my head and began to smile.

"I've got good news," I state. Noctis raised his eyebrows as I pulled out my phone. When I showed him the news headline, he sighed in relief.

"Every single one of them has been arrested," I said with a victorious grin.

"I was worried that while I was out, they would've come back for you," he mumbles. I pat him on the chest and smiled.

"I may have fried a few of them when you fell unconscious."

Noctis snorted from laughter and ran his hands through my (h/c) hair.

"That's my girl."
