133) Prompto
~(Y/n)'s POV~
Prompto beamed at me as we head over to the Chocobo Racetrack. He steps in front of me and bends down to my level. "Wanna race, (Y/n)?" His cheeky grin made a smug look sprout on my face. "You're on, Chocobutt!"
Prompto and I hopped on our Chocobos at the starting line. As the race was being prepared, I could hear Noctis, Gladio, and Ignis betting on who would win.
"(Y/n)'s gonna wipe the floor with Prompto," Gladio confidently said.
"Prompto knows more about Chocobos than she does. I'm betting gil on him," Noctis said. Ignis was the next to speak. "One does not determine a race by knowledge alone. (Y/n)'s calm nature strengthens her bond with the bird, making the Chocobo trust her."
"Wow... dude, you're hurting my feelings," Prompto pouts. I giggle and nudge him with my elbow. "Only way to find out if they're right is by the results of this race." Prompto grins and pumps himself up.
"Ready... set... go!" The man fires a shot into the air, signaling our race to start. We were neck-in-neck at the first turn we reached. Prompto pulled ahead as his Chocobo sped around the corner. He began laughing like a maniac as he looked over his shoulder at me. "See ya, slowpoke!"
"Prom, you might wanna watch where you're going!" I shout. He turns back around and dodges a small rock protruding from the dirt. He sighs heavily as he manages to stay on the yellow bird. I was able to catch up to him because of his carelessness. Our Chocobos ran side-by-side as we reached another corner. Once again, Prompto pulls ahead.
I could tell he was pushing the bird to exhaustion. Luckily, I was saving up my Chocobo's energy for the last stretch. Prompto was rounding the last corner when his poor Chocobo slowed down. I bent over and whispered in my Chocobo's ear. "Ready to win, sweet girl?" She chirps happily and runs as fast as her legs could go. We easily passed a shocked Prompto on the last stretch. "W-w-what?!" He shouts.
I cross the finish line and wait for Prompto and his worn out Chocobo. As I hopped off my Chocobo, he finally crossed the finish line. "Noct, you owe Gladio and I five hundred gil each," Ignis states. Listening to the prince mumble incoherently made me laugh. Prompto jumped off his bird with a huff. When I tried to make eye contact with the cameraman, he refused to meet my gaze. His shoulders were slumped forward in defeat.
"Prom, don't look so sad. We can have a rematch once we come visit again." I patted him gently on the back to comfort him. "I know, but... never mind," he mumbled. I placed my hands on his cheeks and made him look at me. "Tell me."
He swallows hard with a faint blush on his cheeks. "I-I was gonna ask for a k-kiss if I won..." His sweet words made me smile from ear to ear. Passion burned in his blue eyes like a bright flame ready to consume all that lay in its wake.
"You don't need to ask for a kiss, Prom. I'm all yours." I pull him down to my level and gave him a passionate kiss. He gasped at my sudden affection, which allowed me to deepen the kiss. After his shock resided, Prompto pulled me flush against his body and closed his eyes in ecstasy.
Our kiss was interrupted when my Chocobo pulled on Prompto's hair. "Ow! Hey!" He sent a glare to the yellow bird. She chirped and pecked at his clothes. Prompto let go of me and began chasing the Chocobo. I bit my lip, holding my laughter at bay. Prompto's Chocobo decided to join in and chased the blonde. My laughter bursted from my lips before I could hold back. My sides started to hurt from how hard I was laughing.
I called both Chocobos over to get them away from Prompto. The two birds chirped happily when they stopped in front of me. Their yellow feathers tickled my face as they nuzzled their heads into my neck. I giggled and hugged both of them. I saw that Prompto had a jealous look on his face.
"Prom, don't get jealous over a couple of Chocobos," I laughed. His jealously was replaced with embarrassment. Seeing him like this made my heart swell. I broke away from the Chocobos and grabbed his hand. "C'mon, the others left while we were making out." His blush intensifies at my words. With the Chocobos following behind us, we meet up with the others and enjoy a delicious meal.
After dinner, we called it a day and stayed in the caravan. Gladio and Noctis were playing King's Knight on their phones, while Ignis drank his coffee. Prompto was messing with his camera, a look of concentration on his face. All of them were distracted, so I decided to go play with the Chocobos. I fed one of the birds as I watched another fall asleep. Each Chocobo gradually fell asleep after the first one.
"Oh, there you are!" The familiar bubbly voice of Prompto caught my attention. I gave him a smile as he walked over to stand next to me. "I saw you concentrating really hard on your camera. Is there something wrong with it?" I ask. Prompto quickly shook his head with a small blush.
"I-I was going through the pictures and ran across one of you in battle. I... may have lost track of time while looking at it."
"Aw, you're so sweet, Prom."
I got on my tippy toes and kissed him on the nose. He grinned and wrapped his arms around me. "It's a little chilly out here," he said as he hugged me tighter.
"It is. You better hold me closer," I tease. When he suddenly cradled my head against his chest, I was shocked. The reaction I was expecting didn't occur. I thought he would blush and shy away. Now, he's gotten bold when in public. "If I could hold you 24/7, I would," he murmured to me in a slightly seductive voice. The heat rose to my cheeks as he blew on my ear. I yelped in surprise and squirmed out of his hold.
I covered my ear and looked at him. "P-Prom, don't do that!" He begins to laughs, holding his sides. I stuck my tongue out at him and turned away from him in embarrassment. Prompto pressed up against my back and poked my cheeks. "I love you, (Y/n)."
"Love you too, goofball."
