~Fiora's POV~
"Didn't expect to find a royal tomb out here," Ignis said as we traveled further into the Disc of Cauthess. Gladio was the next to speak. "Would be a shame not to grab that power, eh, Highness?" Without looking at him, I could tell he was smirking.
"Let's grab it and go," Noctis said, ignoring Gladio's teasing. As Noctis claimed the power from one of the Kings, a shiver went down my spine. I unconsciously took a step back. "Fi, what's wrong?" Prompto asked worriedly. "Noct, move away from the ledge," I warn. When our eyes met, he knew I was serious. Noctis went to move, but he suddenly got a headache.
I ran to his side and supported him. A loud rumbling caught my attention. Noctis' headache worsened as the tremors intensified. "Fiora, Noctis, get away from there!" Ignis shouts. Supporting him, I tried to move quickly. That's when I felt the ground underneath us crumble. My grip on Noctis loosened as our bodies tumbled over the edge. Noctis was able to grab on to a ledge and hold on. The only thing I was able to grab was a protruding rock not far below Noctis.
I looked up just as Gladio helped Noctis to safety. Immediately after, Noctis looked over the edge. "Fiora, can you climb up?" He asked. Worry was written all over his face as I told him "no". Noctis suddenly summoned his blade. Before he could do anything, Gladio stopped him. "You can't warp here!"
Noctis freed himself from the brute. "I'm not going to let her fall!" He shouts in anger. As the two argued, the rock I was holding on to for dear life crumbled. A gasp of fear escaped my lips as I fell. "Fiora!" Noctis yells my name. He pushes Gladio away and throws his blade. An arm wraps around my body as Noctis appears. With another throw, he warps us to safety.
Noctis wrapped both arms around me as he takes the hit from the hard ground below. Both of us were breathing heavily after we reached safety. I rested my head on Noctis' chest in relief. "Oh, sweet Etro..." I mumble. Noctis runs a hand through my red locks with a chuckle. "There's no way in hell I'm letting you fall," he said.
"I'm glad you disobeyed Gladio. I would be flat as a pancake if it weren't for you," I said in all honesty. Noctis kissed me on the forehead sweetly. We got to our feet just as Gladio had found us. He seemed more relieved than angry. "Glad you're safe, Fi, but that was an idiotic move." The last part was directed towards Noctis.
"Hey, Fi's safe thanks to my idiotic act," Noctis defends. Gladio ruffles Noctis' hair in a brotherly manner. I turned around and saw the Archaean was eyeing us. He began to speak, making Noctis' head ache. I supported him as his legs gave out under him.
"There's a path this way," Gladio announces. I wait until Noctis recovers before letting him go. "Let's go," he said. Gladio went first, then Noctis, and I went last. As we were crossing, more tremors emitted from the Archaean. "Ugh, my head," Noctis groans. "Of all the times..." Gladio grumbles. I kept a close eye on Titan as we shimmied across the ledge. When I noticed Titan reaching out for Noctis, I placed a protective barrier around him. The Archaean's hand hit the barrier, sending a surge of lighting through his hand.
"Hey, Titan! What's the big idea?!" Noctis shouts. "No time to chat-- just cross!" I shout. Noctis nods and we avert our attention from the Archaean. Titan recovered and began swinging his hand our way again. The ledge started to crumble faster as Gladio reaches the other side. The Archaean's hand was centimeters from my face, causing me to stand still. Gladio pulled Noctis to safety and reached out to grab me. Before Titan could grab us, I grabbed Gladio's hand and he pulled me out of Titan's reach.
"Run!" I shout. Noctis, Gladio, and I moved just in time as the Archaean slammed his hand on where we were just standing. Reaching safety, we slow down to catch our breath. Not only was the Archaean hunting Noctis, but the intense heat was getting to all of us.
As Noctis began to complain, it ignited a fire in Gladio. He grabbed Noctis and knocked some sense into the prince. As they talked, I felt a presence. A few monsters had spotted us and began to attack. I quickly killed all of them as Gladio finally lets go of Noctis. "Okay, no more arguing until we're safe!" I yell at both of them. They nod and we continue on our way. I walked a little ways ahead, ignoring the conversation between the two. It was not my matter to discuss.
We reached a small plateau that was close to the Archaean. "What's the Empire doing here?" I spat with disgust, looking down at the Imperials near Titan's body. "Don't know, but we're about to find out," Gladio said. Another tremor rocked the ground beneath us. Noctis was getting another headache as the hand of Titan approached us. I pushed Noctis out of the way as Titan brought it down. The ground under me fell.
"Fiora!" Noctis and Gladio shout desperately. I summon my blade and dig it in the side of the stone as I fell. Luckily, my blade stopped a few feet from the ground below. When I moved my arm, a burning pain shot through it. I grit my teeth in pain as I assessed the damage. My shoulder was dislocated from the sudden force of my blade getting stuck in the stone. I dislodged my blade and landed on my feet. With a quick snap, I popped my shoulder back into place. A scream erupted from my throat as the waves of pain hit me.
"Fi!"
I looked in the direction the voice came from and saw Noctis running towards me. He reached my side and checked to see if I was hurt. "I-it's just my shoulder. That's all," I reply, trying to smile through the pain. Noctis notices immediately and frowns. "Don't push yourself, Fiora." We break our eyes from each other and look up at Titan. An idea strikes me as I look at my sore arm.
"What if we broke his arm?" I ask. Noctis smiles at the idea. "Let's do it." Noctis summons his javelin while I gripped my blade. A small pain shot through my arm as I did. I push through the pain as our battle with the Archaean commences.
The battle with Titan was just Noctis and I knocking him off-balance. We'd strike his hand once he was down. A plan popped into my head as Noctis pushed Titan's hand away. I ran towards his hand and jumped on the top of it. I run up his arm and deliver a powerful blow, causing his arm to crack. Titan looks down at me with his frightening eyes. As his arm shattered, I jumped to safety.
"Dude, that was so cool~!" Prompto squeals. I turn around and saw all of us were reunited. "When did you guys get here?" I ask.
"Right when you ran up the Archaean's arm," Gladio responds.
"We had a plan, but it seems it was unnecessary," Ignis said.
"Where did you learn that?" Noctis asked in complete shock.
"Uh... not sure," I answer honestly. He chuckles and messes with my hair.
After our little conversation, Noctis receives the Archaean's blessing. The ground around us began to heat up and crack once Titan was gone. An imperial ship descended and revealed the man who led us here, Ardyn.
"Izunia! Ardyn Izunia!" He shouts over the engine. "The chancellor of Niflheim?" Ignis asked. He nods and smiles. Ardyn promised us safe passage to a nearby outpost. We were reluctant to take the offer, but we did in the end. The airship dropped us off at Wiz's Chocobo Post.
-A Few Days Later-
The Regalia was nowhere to be seen. Cindy was asking around for us while we waited. I sat at a table while the guys chatted. My arm was in unbearable pain when I woke up this morning. I kept my grunts of pain low so no one would worry.
When I felt eyes on me, I turned to see the guys were all giving me worried looks. "W-what's wrong?" I try playing off the pain, but it doesn't work. Ignis walked over and tapped me on my bad shoulder. I yelped in pain at the small contact. Ignis sighs as he sits down next to me.
"When did the pain start?" He asked. I told him about my fall when I pushed Noctis out of the way.
"I popped my shoulder back into place when I noticed it was dislocated," I said. Prompto looked as if he would faint from hearing my words. "And... the pain came back this morning." Ignis nods in understanding. He examined my shoulder for a few minutes with a stern expression plastered on his face.
"No major damage. You're out-of-commission until you are completely healed. Leave the fighting to us," he said. I reluctantly nod and slump in my chair. Ignis gets up and is replaced by Noctis. He placed a hand over mine and rubs circles on the top with his thumb. "Fi, you better listen to him."
I snicker and look into his beautiful blue eyes. "Alright, I know when I'm defeated. But... you have no room to talk, Your Majesty." Noctis frowns at the formality. I use my free hand and pull on his cheek. "You disobeyed Gladio to save my life."
"I couldn't live with myself if I'd let you fall, knowing I could've saved you," he said, looking down with sad eyes. I stop pulling on his cheeks and kiss them. "And if I see your ass is being handed to you, I won't hesitate to jump in, either." Noctis laughs and pecks me on the lips. "That's the only deal-breaker."
