127) Prompto
~(Y/n)'s POV~
As Prompto blew up my phone with messages, I smiled. He told me the news that they weren't far from Lestallum. I've known the blonde since high school. Escaping Insomnia was difficult, but I'm able to see him again.
"I wonder how he'll react?" I ask myself.
"What're you doing, (Y/n)?" I turned around and saw my boyfriend, Chrono, standing behind me.
"Texting an old friend. Remember when I told you about Prompto? Well, he's coming to Lestallum!" I cheer.
"Blonde hair and blue eyes?" He asked. I nodded and I jumped for joy. I showed Chrono a picture of Prompto and I. We were making a Chocobo piñata for Noctis' birthday. When the sound of an engine broke my thoughts, I turned to see a black car pull in.
"(Y/n)!" A familiar voice shouts my name. I perk up and smile. "Prompto!" I shout back. He jumps out of the black car and heads straight for me. We met each other half-way and hugged. I giggle as he messes with my (h/c) hair.
"I'm glad you're safe, (Y/n)."
"Oh, I want you to meet someone," I said. Prompto tilted his has in confusion. I gesture for Chrono to come over. When he does, I smile even bigger. "Prom, this is Chrono, my boyfriend." Prompto's expression dramatically changed. The look on his face made me think his heart just broke. Befor I could ask, he spoke up. "I'm so happy for you..."
His voice was lower than usually. It sounded a little sad and defeated. "Nice to finally meet the person (Y/n) talks about all the time," Chrono said with a grin. I smack Chrono on the arm lightly. "Not all the time," I meekly said. His grin widened and he kissed me on the cheek. Prompto tensed up at our contact for some odd reason.
"Prom, are you alright?" I ask, concern apparent in my tone. He shook his head and forced a smile. "N-no, I'm perfectly fine!"
"Remember our promise?" Chrono leaned over and whispered. I nodded and gave Prompto an apologetic look. "I'll see you later. Chrono promised to take me to the market today." With that, I waved farewell.
~3rd Person POV~
Prompto's hearts shattered even more as he watched the couple walk away, hand in hand. "Who was that?" Gladio asked as the other three approached the blonde. Prompto didn't hear them because he was too busy registering the information.
"That's (Y/n). She went to high school with us," Noctis replied in Prompto's place. The cameraman sadly looked away from the happy lovebirds. "Who was with her, Prom?" Noctis asked his best friend. "It... it was her... uh, boyfriend."
Their eyes shot wide open when they heard 'boyfriend'. Gladio was the first to question Prompto. "Hold on-- I thought you liked her?"
"I-I do! I... just, um, never told her." Prompto fiddled with his fingers in embarrassment. The rest of them sigh at their blonde friend's confession. "Prompto..." Noctis groans. "H-hey, it's hard to tell someone that you like them!" Prompto defends harshly. Noctis put both hands up in defense.
"We're bound to see them again. Tell (Y/n) your feelings, then," Gladio said and smacked Prompto on the back. "But she has a boyfriend," Prompto whimpered. "It wouldn't hurt to tell her," Ignis joined in. He looked down at the ground and then back up at everyone. "I'll do it!" He declares.
The group heads into the streets of Lestallum and finds a place to eat. As they waited for their meal, Prompto caught a glimpse of Chrono. "Isn't that..." Noctis starts. Prompto nods and watches the boy closely. "Shouldn't he be in the market with (Y/n)?" Gladio asked. In a heartbeat, Prompto had his phone out. He began to text (Y/n). When she replied quickly, his eyes flew open.
"Any response?" Ignis wondered. Prompto nodded and showed everyone the message.
He said he had business to deal with and left
"For someone who's busy, he's slacking off," Gladio scoffed. When Prompto glanced at Chrono, he was leaving. With his camera in hand, he followed him. Even though the sun was high in the sky, the alleyways of Lestallum were dark and damp. Turn after turn, Prompto followed Chrono in the shadows.
Chrono stopped walking when he reached a door not far from where Ignis parked the Regalia. He knocked and the door flew open. A girl threw herself onto Chrono with a giggle. Prompto's eyes widened at the sight. He leaned in closer to listen to their conversation.
"So, you abandoned that other girl in market? How cruel of you! If it were me... I would've left her in a dark alley." The girl cackled and kissed Chrono. In response, Chrono didn't hold back his lust. Prompto quickly snapped a picture of the two. He forgot to turn the flash off, resulting in the two spotting him. Prompto stood his ground and glared at Chrono.
When Chrono recognized him, he shoved the girl away from him. "H-hey, you're friends with (Y/n)!" He tried to play it off as if it were nothing. Prompto's grip on the camera tightened as his glare sharpened. "What kinda asshole leaves a girl all by herself in the marketplace?!" He snaps at Chrono. The accused swallowed hard and begged Prompto not to tell (Y/n).
"Don't worry, I'm not gonna tell her... I'm gonna show her what an asshole you are!" He growled at him. Camera in hand, Prompto ran to the market. "Hey!" Chrono shouted as he chased after Prompto. The blonde was much faster than Chrono. He found (Y/n) in the market, looking at oranges. Prompto smiled at her but then remembered the picture. His smile fell as he finally reached the beautiful girl.
"Oh, hey, Prom!" She giggled and smiled at him. When she saw his face, her happy expression was replaced with a worried one. She placed a warm hand on his arm. "What's wrong?" Her concern filled (e/c) eyes bore into his blue ones. Seeing her like this made it harder for Prompto to show her the picture. She would be shocked and depressed at the sight of Chrono kissing another girl.
Prompto inhaled and sighed. "You... deserve the truth, (Y/n)." She tilts her head in confusion. "The truth about what?" He flipped through his pictures until the one he was looking for popped up. With shaky hands, he showed her the picture. She gasped, eyes widening in shock. When he looked into her eyes, Prompto saw rage and a small amount of sadness.
"Where is he?" She asked sharply. That's when Chrono ran into the market, panting for air. Prompto stepped aside to get out of (Y/n)'s way. The enraged girl walked to Chrono and gave him a death glare. "So, how long has this been going on?" She asked in a low voice.
"W-what are you talking about, (Y/n)?" Chrono asked, acting dumb on the subject. With clenched teeth, (Y/n) didn't hold her anger back. She sent a fist flying and it hit Chrono square on the jaw. He fell to the ground and whimpered in pain, holding the spot that was just punched. Prompto was surprised by her actions. (Y/n) didn't strike him as a girl who would do such a thing.
"Wow, I feel much better just punching you," she said. Chrono begged for her forgiveness, but she gave him the cold shoulder. "Go crawl your broken self to your real girlfriend. We're through," she spat and turned on her heels. She grabbed Prompto by the arm and dragged him away from the market. He stayed silent as she guides him to the overlook.
Her grip on his arm tightened. It wasn't painful, but it worried him. Her back faces him as they both look towards the Disc of Cauthess in complete silence. When Prompto was about to speak up,
(Y/n) beat him to it. "Thank you for telling me, Prom." Her sad voice made his heart ache. He reached out and rested a hand on her shoulder.
(Y/n) let go of his arm when she felt his warm one on her shoulder. Without hesitating, he placed his other hand on her shoulder and spun her around to face him. The sight of her face destroyed him. Tears cascaded down her cheeks like a river. He moves his hands to her cheeks to wipe them away.
"I'm so sorry you had to figure out like this," he whispered gently. (Y/n) shook her head and cupped his cheeks in her small hands. "Don't apologize. I knew something was up, but I refused to accept it. It's because of you that I now know who I truly love."
Prompto's hope began to soar high. (Y/n) leaned in and whispered in his ear. His cheeks began to ignite a red as her words echoed inside his head. "I love you, Prompto Argentum." He soon became a stuttering mess of random noises. (Y/n) giggled and kissed his cheek to calm him down. The warm sensation of her lips made his insides melt. With a smirk, she grabbed and pulled him into a rough kiss.
Prompto was mesmerized by the kiss. He soon returned the affection and put a hand on the back of (Y/n)'s head to deepen the kiss. His other hand trailed up and down her other arm in order to keep her warm from the sudden chill in the air. They pulled apart and smiled at each other. Prompto's camera clattered against his hip as he leaned forward to rest his forehead against (Y/n)'s.
"Not trying to interrupt, but that was impressive back there." Noctis' voice broke their intimate moment. "Oh, the punch..." (Y/n) mumbles.
"You knocked him flat on his ass," Gladio chuckled at the memory. "A fine display for such an act," Ignis states. She crossed her arms and leaned against a nearby table. "Trust me, if I see his ugly mug again, he'll be wishing I threw him off a bridge."
Prompto laughed and showed her the picture of when she punched Chrono in the face. She snorted from laughing too hard and kissed him on the cheek. "I'm definitely gonna want a copy of that." Prompto let his camera fall back to his waist.
"I'll make tons of copies and post them all over Lestallum."
