126) Noctis
~3rd Person POV~
The group sat around the warm fire as they chatted. The stars above twinkled brightly, filling the night sky with a warm light. Prompto grabbed everyone's attention when he began to grin at Noctis. "Alright, Noct. You have to answer truthfully." The prince groaned and pinched the bridge of his nose. "What are you up to, Prom?"
"Oh, nothing. Just want to ask a question."
"Go ahead."
Prompto's grin widened once he received approval from Noctis to ask the question he's been dying to ask. He rubbed his hands together and cleared his throat. "So... if you had to choose one girl, who would it be- (Y/n) or Aranea?" All eyes were now glued to the prince. Everyone waited eagerly to hear his answer.
"What the hell kinda question is that?" Noctis asked, looking away from his best friend. "You have to answer!" Prompto shouts while still grinning. Noctis sighed and murmured his answer. "Sorry, what was that?" Prompto leans closer while cupping his ear.
"(Y/n). Happy?" Noctis crossed his arms with an embarrassed look on his face. "I would agree," Ignis suddenly spoke up. "Same here," Gladio jumped into the conversation as well. Prompto seemed taken aback by everyone else answering, too.
"So, all four of us prefer (Y/n)?" He asked. They all nodded. "(Y/n) is a brilliant and charming girl. Her motives are pure, which is difficult to find in a person," Ignis vouched for his answer. "If Dino heard us, I think he would keep her away from us," Prompto said. "She is Dino's little sister," Gladio added.
"I can't believe those two are related," Noctis grumbles. Gladio scoffs and crossed his arms. "I'll say. Their personalities are like day and night." Suddenly Noctis' phone went off. He pulled it out of his pocket and smiled. "Speaking of (Y/n), she just texted me." They all stopped what they were doing and waited to hear what the text said.
Noctis read over the text and sighed. "What's the matter?" Gladio asked the troubled prince. "It's Dino. He's gotten into some serious trouble with another reporter. (Y/n) wants us to meet her in Galdin Quay."
"Shall we?" Ignis asked. Everyone nods and they decide to head out even though it was nighttime. The group wasn't far from Galdin Quay. It only took them about fifteen minutes to arrive. While getting out of the Regalia, they heard a familiar voice.
(Y/n) ran over and smiled at them warmly. "It's so nice to see you all again. I can't believe you responded to my text so quickly, Noct." The prince scratched his cheek in embarrassment. Prompto steps in and helps his friend. "We weren't far, so we decided to head out right after we heard about Dino."
(Y/n)'s happy expression suddenly dampened. "Dino bit off more than he could chew. Now he's gotten himself in trouble with a reporter from Niflheim. Apparently, Dino gambled a sum of gil that he didn't have. Now he's trying to desperately pay off the reporter. If not..." She tenses up and Noctis was the first to notice.
"What's wrong?" He asked with worry. (Y/n) gripped her phone closely to her chest. "I told the reporter that I would go to Niflheim in order to pay off my brother's debt." The guys' eyes widened with shock.
(Y/n) saw this and tensed up even more. "Why the hell did you do that?" Noctis tried to keep his anger from rising to the surface. Ignis felt the rage coming from Noctis and quickly placed a hand on his shoulder.
"Noct, do not let your anger get the best of you. I am certain we would all do the same thing if we were in her predicament." The advisor glanced at (Y/n) with a reassuring smile. "We will help in any way possible."
"Thank you, Ignis. I appreciate it."
"Don't thank us yet. We have to make sure you're not taken to Niflheim," Gladio said to the young girl. Her smile returned which washed away Noctis' anger. "Where's Dino now?" Prompto questioned.
(Y/n) pointed to the beach. Everyone could see that Dino was yelling at the other reporter.
"Dammit, Dino..." Noctis grumbles in annoyance. They headed to the beach and broke the two apart. Dino tried to pass Gladio, but the brute held him in place. When (Y/n)'s brother saw her, he ran over and hugged her. "There's no way you're going to Niflheim," he whispered to her in reassurance.
The group faces the other reporter as he kept staring at (Y/n) with hungry eyes. Noctis saw this and obscured his view of the girl. "What the hell do you guys want?" The reporter spat venomously. "There's no way on Eos you're taking her," Noctis fired back. The reporter smirked with confidence at the prince. "Ha! That's what you think! She'll be leaving with me in the morning whether you like it or not!"
"You clearly don't know who you're dealing with, pal," Gladio scoffed. He took a threatening step towards the reporter. The man swallowed hard and took a few steps back. "A-alright, if you get five hundred thousand gil by tomorrow morning, she'll stay. If not, I'm taking her to Niflheim."
"F-five hundred thousand?!" Prompto shouts in surprise at the large sum of money. "Deal," Noctis strongly said. The reporter's grin resurfaces as he shook Noctis' hand. He left and Dino let go of his little sister. "Why did you promise something so stupid?!" He shouts at the girl. (Y/n) stares back at Dino with a scary look.
"I'm stupid?! You're the one who gambled money he doesn't have!" She crosses her arms with a scary glare plastered on her face. Dino knew she was right. He stepped down and sighed. "I'm sorry, sis. Because of me, you're..."
"Not going anywhere," Noctis declares. They all nodded at Noctis' declaration. "You guys..." (Y/n) mutters as tears of joy stream from her eyes. Noctis smiles and slowly approaches her. He wipes her tears away gently. Once they disappeared, Noctis smiled down at the beautiful girl. "Let's go hunting," he said.
"I could totally use a good hunt right about now," Gladio grins as he popped his knuckles. (Y/n) and Dino followed them to the Regalia. Noctis got into the car and gazed at the (h/c) haired girl. "We'll be back before morning. If anything happens, call me immediately."
"I will. Just be careful, all of you." Her eyes travel to each man in the car. "Since when are we not careful?" Prompto asked cheekily. Ignis glanced up at the worried girl. "You do not want to hear the answer to that particular question." (Y/n) giggled at his words.
"Once you return, I have another matter to discuss. It's about... Dino sending you out for ore all the time."
"Wha-? Sis, you can't mean-"
"I do. It needs to stop. They have other business to attend to. You're just making them run around, collecting ore just for your jewelry. It needs to and will stop."
"Alright, it'll stop... as long as they are able to get the money."
(Y/n) slapped her brother on the back of the head. All the guys in the car began to chuckle at their sibling behavior. "Okay, deal!" Dino shouts as (Y/n) began to pull on his ear. She turns her smile back to them. "I feel like the greatest threat right now is his stupidity. Make sure to take care." She waved and dragged Dino off. Ignis started the Regalia and their hunt began.
-Midnight-
"Wow, we actually killed a Bandersnatch..." Prompto gasped in shock as they were handed seventy-five thousand gil. "It's really THAT hard to believe?" Gladio questioned the blonde. He just shrugged and helped carry the money to the car.
"(Y/n) will be glad to learn of the news," Ignis said. Before they reached the Regalia, Noctis phone rang. (Y/n)'s name popped up on the screen.
Prompto leaned in close as Noctis answered the phone. "Hey, (Y/n)-"
"She's gone!" Noctis pulled his phone away from his ear at the sudden shout. "Dino? Why do you have your sister's phone?" Noctis asked, confusion painting his features. "That asshole took her!" Dino shouts even louder. Noctis almost dropped his phone at the news. His eyes were wide as saucers. Everyone saw his dramatic change in expressions and started to get worried.
"Do you know what his car looks like?" He asked quickly. Dino described the car and Noctis hung up. "I don't like that look on your face," Gladio said in a low growl. "That bastard took (Y/n). Dino gave a description of the car he drives. We need to check all of Leide before he leaves the area."
Without skipping a beat, they all got in the car and Ignis sped off. Worry and anger consumed Noctis' conscious as time passed. They checked all of the outposts and backroads. Next was the main road. "A small, red car. That doesn't really help," Prompto groans. "This is Dino we're talking about," Ignis said. "It's better than nothing," Noctis said as he watched all the cars pass by. A little up the road, they spotted a red car that was stopped.
"Let's check that one," Gladio said. They nod and pull over behind the red car. Noctis was the first out of the Regalia. He approached the car and saw it had no one in it. "Uh, where's the driver?" Prompto asked as he looked around. "Somewhere nearby. The engine is still warm," Ignis said as he placed a hand on the hood of the car.
After a few minutes of waiting, the man they were looking for emerged from an old shed not far away. Noctis stormed over and grabbed the man by the collar. "Where is she?" Noctis shook the man violently, venom pouring from each word. "W-who-"
"Don't act stupid! Dino already contacted us!"
"A-alright! Alright! She's... she's in the shed."
No one made a move to the shed. "Lying isn't going to get you anywhere with us," Ignis said as he pushed his glasses up the bridge of his nose. "Now... where is she?" Noctis' anger was growing by the second. The man suddenly glanced to his car. When he did, they began to hear bagging from the trunk. The prince gasped and threw the man to the ground. The guys ran back to the car.
"Please, help me!" A young girl's voice whimpers from inside the trunk. Ignis found the button that opened he trunk and pressed it. Noctis stood by the trunk, waiting for it to open. Once unlatched, he pushed the trunk up. When Noctis looked down, his blue eyes met with (e/c) ones. (Y/n)'s sparkling eyes were brimming with tears. "N-Noct..." She called out his name in a whisper.
He saw her body was shaking with fear. Noctis picked her up in his arms and took her small form out of the musty trunk. (Y/n) clung to Noctis and began to cry. Her body shook even more as tears poured from her eyes. Noctis decided not to ask a single question and just held her. He trailed his hands through her gleaming, (h/c) hair.
"I'll take care of the bastard," Gladio growled and left. Ignis and Prompto watched the prince comfort the frightened girl. Their eyes were filled with sorrow. Neither one of them could bear to see
(Y/n) like this. A few minutes pass and (Y/n) was able to control her tears. When she tried to pull away, Noctis refused to let her go. His arms around her tightened, afraid that she would be taken again.
"I was so scared," she whispers to him. Noctis laid his head on top of hers and rubbed her back in a loving gesture. Ignis saw where the conversation was heading and dragged Prompto away from the scene. Noctis began to rock the sweet girl in his arms to comfort her even further. After she was completely calm, she told him what happened.
"After you left, I was heading back to the beach. When I reached the beach, someone grabbed me from behind and dragged me to the parking lot. I saw it was the reporter when he shoved me in his trunk."
"You dropped your phone on purpose, didn't you?" Noctis asked. (Y/n) nodded slowly. "I'm glad Dino found it. He's the only who knew what car the reporter was driving."
"I'm just glad you're not hurt," he whispers calmly in her ear. (Y/n)'s grip on him tightened suddenly. He gazed down and saw her cheeks were red. Without hesitating, Noctis cupped her cheeks and kissed her sweetly on the lips. It didn't last long because the prince knew the girl was still a little shaky from being thrown in the trunk.
A strange noise interrupted their conversation.
(Y/n) began to blush even more. Noctis began to laugh. "Was that your stomach?" He asked. She nods and hides her face in his chest. "Specs can make lunch."
"Sorry, I'm really hungry. I haven't eaten since breakfast yesterday. I was going to make dinner, but..."
"You were shoved into a trunk. Gotcha," Noctis chuckled and kissed her on the cheek. "You try being stuck in a trunk for hours upon hours. It's not fun," she pouts. Noctis poked her on the forehead. "I won't let it happen again, I promise." (Y/n) nods and keeps her face buried in his chest.
"Dino is gonna flip," he said.
"I'll convince him. Don't worry about it."
"You... are one incredible girl."
"And you're a strange man who fell in love with this girl."
He laughed and smiled at her. Once the reporter was dealt with, Noctis helped (Y/n) into the Regalia. Ignis drove them back safely to Galdin Quay so they could inform Dino about what happened. The advisor parked the car and everyone got out. Running footsteps caught their attention. Dino was running straight for (Y/n).
When he reached her, Dino wrapped his arms around his little sister. (Y/n) immediately hugged him back. Noctis told Dino about what happened. When he heard that his sister was trapped in a trunk, his arms around her tightened. "I promise, no more gambling," Dino whispered in (Y/n)'s ear.
"I'm glad you learned your lesson," she whispered back. They pulled away from each other and (Y/n) smiled at the group. "Thank you so much. If there's anything I can do to repay you, don't hesitate to ask."
"Do not fret over such a thing, (Y/n). We are more than happy to see you are unhurt," Ignis said.
"Yeah, we were so worried about you," Prompto added. Noctis' blue eyes met with her (e/c) ones. "Actually, I do have one favor." (Y/n) tilted her head to the side in confusion. Noctis quickly averted his eyes from the cute action.
"We'll continue to bring ore for Dino."
"What? Why?" (Y/n) asked, baffled at the prince's words. Noctis rubbed the back of his neck in embarrassment. "It'll be an excuse to see you." The prince shies away, hoping Dino didn't hear. Luckily, the reporter didn't. (Y/n) giggled and smiled at him.
"Alright, Noct. You can still help my brother." She turned to face Dino, her expression changing drastically. "And you better not send them somewhere ridiculous. I don't want them getting hurt because they were fetching ore for you."
"I swears," Dino said as he raised a hand. (Y/n) sighed in relief as she faced the prince. "Do come visit. It gets lonely here."
"Really? It does?" Prompto asked. (Y/n) nodded. "I don't have many friends. Most of them ran away because of my brother." All four of them glanced at Dino. "What? I've gotta protect my sis," Dino defends. (Y/n) rolled her eyes and crossed her arms. "We could be your friends," Prompto said. Her eyes widened in surprise.
"R-really?" She asked shyly. They all smiled at her and nodded. "Even though you and Noct already are more than friends," Gladio grins. She began to blush and Dino noticed. "Hold on! You and the prince?" She looked away, hiding her face in her hands. Dino was in complete shock. No words came from his mouth as he absorbed the news.
"Before he returns from his world, I think you should leave. It won't be pretty," (Y/n) mumbles to Noctis. "You trying to get rid of me already?" Noctis, asked, pretending to be hurt by her words. She rolls her eyes and pushes Noctis and the others towards the Regalia.
"Don't you dare go there. I'll handle him. I'm sure you all are busy. Make sure to have your phone on. I may or may not blow it up when Dino gets into more trouble."
"I'll be waiting for that," Noctis said while laughing. The four men got into the black car and said their goodbyes to (Y/n). When it was Noctis' turn, he jumped from his seats and pulled her in for a sweet kiss. The others turned their attention away from the two lovebirds. "We'll be back before you know it," Noctis said between kisses.
"I'll be waiting. Make sure to stay safe," she replies softly. Noctis nods and reluctantly pulls away. Ignis starts the engine and they leave Galdin Quay.
