~3rd Person POV~

While in Duscae on a hunt, the group was attacked by a fleet of Magiteks. Along with the Garulas, they had to handle the Imperial menace. The group was able to get rid of all the Garulas, but they were having difficulty wiping out the Magiteks.

Gladio grunted as his blade clashed with one of the Magiteks' sword. Prompto was being pushed back as he aimed his pistol at the nearest enemy. Ignis and Noctis stayed side-by-side, destroying any enemies closing in.

"Damn, there's too many!" Gladio shouts as he pushes one Magitek back. "Where's (Y/n) when we need her?" Noctis asked through gritted teeth. "We cannot rely on her abilities for all we do," Ignis said with raised daggers.

"But this is a desperate situation where her powers would save our asses!" Prompto shouts, shooting an enemy in the head. "Sorry, Iggy, but I agree with him," Gladio spoke up.

"Same here, Specs. We know you care about her and don't want her to be in danger, but we need her help," Noctis said. Ignis knew the prince was right, but he desperately didn't want (Y/n) to be dragged into this situation. The two of them have been dating for two years. When he learned of her true identity, he was surprised but didn't turn away from her. He gladly accepted her for who she is and let her travel with them.

Ignis had asked her to stay in Lestallum while they handled one hunt without her. All was fine until a ship of Magiteks spotted them. What the blonde said was true. Her powers would've wiped all these Magiteks out in a heartbeat. His mind snapped and he sent a glare to each one of them. "I refuse to haul her into our troubles!"

Everyone was shocked. No one has ever seen Ignis so protective before. The act caused them to let their guard down, letting the Magiteks surround them. "Dammit!" Noctis shouts in frustration. "Iggy, we need her help!" Prompto begs the advisor. Ignis knew he was being stubborn, but it was to keep
(Y/n) safe. Before he could yell back, a loud and recognizable roar rang out. They all looked to the sky and saw the one person they needed heading straight towards them.

"There's our girl," Gladio said and grinned. "Correction: Iggy's girl," Prompto corrected the shield. He just rolls his eyes at the blonde. "How did she find us?" Noctis asked, looking at his advisor. Not even Ignis could answer that question. His eyes were glued to the beautiful creature as she closed in.

She roars loudly, causing them to flinch at the intensity. When she was close, (Y/n) slammed her body into the ship. She nipped at the engines, causing the airship to spiral out of control. The Magiteks turned their attention from the guys to the dragon. (Y/n) whipped her tail around her body, causing all the Magiteks to fall. With a deep inhale, blue flames shot out of her mouth. They all felt the intense heat from the blaze as she set the enemy on fire.

The blue flames consumed all it touched. All the Magiteks were turned into piles of ashes after the flames died down. The airship that burned next to them was soon just a pile of scraps. "Damn," Gladio said, impressed by her abilities. "Go (Y/n)!" Prompto chants. Noctis smiles and mentally thanks the girl. Ignis' daggers fade as he approached the dragon. (Y/n) noticed he was approaching and shrunk back. Ignis saw this and stopped in his tracks.

"It looks like she thinks you're mad at her," Noctis said, observing the dragon closely. Ignis looked closer and saw the worry in those ruby eyes of her. A low, non-threatening growl emitted from her throat, confirming her worry even more. Ignis took small steps towards her. (Y/n) took steps away from him and shrunk back some more.

"My dear, you have nothing to fret over." When those words reached her, (Y/n) approached Ignis. Her expression still concerned him, but he gave her a reassuring smile. Ignis extended a gentle hand out to her. (Y/n) leaned forward and into his touch. Her scales glistened in the sun as he continued to smile and rub her muzzle.

In a quick flash, (Y/n) was in her human form. Ignis didn't hesitate to wrap his arms around her small frame. She wrapped her arms around his torso and buried her face in his chest. A sigh of relief slipped passed her lips. "Thank Etro. I thought you'd be fuming." He rested his chin on top of her head. "I'm delighted to see you. If I may ask- how did you find us?"

"Well... I saw an Imperial airship pass over Lestallum. I assumed they had found your location and I took off."

"Impeccable timing as always, (Y/n)," he responded sweetly. She giggled and hugged him tighter. Ignis couldn't hold back the smile that carved its way on his face as he also tightened his hold on her. "I'll say," Noctis spoke up. (Y/n) looks pass Ignis and smiles at the others. "Glad I could help."

"You did more than help, (Y/n). You saved our asses," Gladio said. "Yeah! That was awesome,
(Y/n)!" Prompto chanted happily while throwing his arms into the air. Ignis pulled away and placed his hands on the girl's shoulders. He noticed her eyes were still ruby red and slit. (Y/n) saw concern flicker in eyes at the sight of her dragon irises.

She placed her hands on his cheeks and gave him a reassuring smile. "Don't worry, Iggy. They'll be back to normal soon." His worry washes away in a tidal wave of relief. He leaned his forehead against hers and softly kissed her on the cheek. The kiss caused her to blush in embarrassment. Ignis saw this and sent her a small grin.

"S-since when are y-you one for PDA?" She asked. "Just this once," he whispered in her ear, causing her cheeks to redden even more. A small shiver went through her body as Ignis stole her lips. (Y/n) looked over at the others and saw that they were pretending not to notice. Even though the kiss was short, it was passionate and breathtaking. (Y/n) felt as if she would crumble to the ground at any second.

"Oh! We're gonna need a ride back to Lestallum!" Prompto interrupted. Ignis groans in annoyance and reluctantly lets go of his beloved. "And who's fault is that?" His eyes narrowed at the prince. Noctis took a step back and quickly defended himself. "Hey, it's not my fault the Regalia ran out of gas!"

Gladio walks over, throwing an arm around Noctis' neck. "You're the one who was supposed to fill it before we left." Noctis struggled to free himself from Gladio's grip. "If it's no problem, I could carry the car to a nearby outpost so you can fill the tank," (Y/n) proposed.

"Won't people freak out when they see a giant dragon flying overhead?" Prompto asked. "Not unless we take the car to Hammerhead. Cindy is aware of your abilities. She could warn everyone ahead of time," Ignis said. Gladio finally released the prince from his chokehold. "We've gotta head that way. It'll be faster instead of calling a tow truck," Noctis states.

"And we would save some gil, too," Prompto added. (Y/n) glanced at Ignis, waiting for his approval. He nods and they all head to the Regalia. The guys hop in the car while (Y/n) transforms. She waits for everyone to get safely into the car. "Man, I wish I had a girlfriend like (Y/n)," Prompto mumbles.

"If you started flirting with her, Iggy would rip your arms off," Gladio chuckled. Prompto then snapped his neck in the direction of the advisor. "You wouldn't do that... right, Iggy?" Ignis pushed his glasses up his nose in silence. "I'd have to do much worse than that if you did pull such a feat." Prompto swallows hard and shrinks into his seat. "You're scary when it comes to (Y/n), Specs," Noctis said from the backseat. Ignis glanced in the rearview mirror to make eye contact with the prince. "I'm only protecting the one I love." With those final words, (Y/n) took them to Hammerhead without any trouble.
