~(Y/n)'s POV~
Noctis was in front of me, begging on his knees. Everyone was watching him with confusion and disbelief. They had just returned from the car and weren't sure what was happening. "Please, (Y/n)?" He puts his hands together. I groan and pinch the bridge of my nose. "Noct, it's too dangerous."
"I promise, nothing will happen," he said to reassure me. I trained my (e/c) eyes on his piercing blue ones. He was even giving me puppy dog eyes. My heart wavered, but I kept strong. "No," I sternly said. His persistence was admirable but annoying. "What's goin' on?" Prompto asked. "His Highness wants me to meet Father dearest," I reply with a small sigh.
"Why don't you want to?" Gladio questions. I sent a small glare his way, reminding him of what I truly am. "Sorry. Forgot," he said. Ignis was the next to speak. "I think it's a splendid idea. You did save him from a perilous fall."
"That was over a year ago," I said.
"But you did save my life. There was no way in hell I was going to survive, until you came along," Noctis states. My resolve began to shake even more. "Dude, you fell of a bridge! If (Y/n) wasn't flying by at the time, we would've lost a friend and our future king!"
"And now you're dating," Gladio said while grinning. "Indeed. The king knows of the incident on the bridge. He insisted on meeting the one that saved his son," Ignis said. All of them were ganging up on me. They wanted me to meet the King of Lucis even though I wasn't human. "I still think it's dangerous. What if one of the Crownsguard spots us? They could shoot us down!"
"I've already got that covered," Noctis said. He pulled out his phone and showed me his call history. Cor was the last person he called and it was an hour ago. "Noct, did you make plans without my consent?" I ask, gripping the phone. "Calm yourself, (Y/n)," Ignis said. I hadn't noticed the phone had began to crack under the force of my grip. Luckily, Ignis stopped me in time before I had broken the phone completely. "Sorry 'bout that," I quickly said and hand the phone back. Noctis shook his head. "Don't worry about it."
I crossed my arms as Noctis told me what Cor said. He approved of the idea. "Not even Cor is on my side," I groan under my breath. The worry built inside my chest, causing me to pace back and forth. I ran a hand through my (h/c) hair with shut eyes. Warm hands suddenly stopped me in my tracks. Noctis had placed his hands on my shoulder and spun me to face him.
"It'll be quick, I swear."
"But, Noct, I'm not human. I'm just... a dragon in human skin. That's all."
His grip on my shoulder tightened, but it wasn't painful. "The person I see in front of me is the girl who saved my life and also the one I love. I don't care if you're a dragon. I love you and that's all that matters. My father will love you, too."
"That's very sweet, Noct. If you say another word, I think I might cry." I wiped the corner of my eye. He moves his hands from my shoulder to my cheeks. Our eyes were locked. My mind and heart gave in to his words. "Alright, I'll go." Noctis smiles and pulls my face to his. He gives me a small peck on the cheek and releases me. I was in too much shock to even move.
"Do be careful on your way out," Ignis said with a faint smile. Noctis gave me a sweet smile which caused my heart to skip a beat. I felt a warm sensation on my cheeks, but I quickly hid my embarrassment. "When should we head out?" I ask, keeping my voice in check. Noctis' smile widened. "Right now."
"It'll only take us a few minutes to get to Insomnia while flying. You better hold on," I warm him. He nods and everyone steps back. My body was soon enveloped in a warm, blinding light. I transformed and stretched my wings.
"I still will never get used to that," Prompto said. I laid down to let Noctis onto my back. "Make sure to not fall off," Gladio smirked. "I'm sure if he did,
(Y/n) would catch him just like before," Ignis states.
I got to my feet and glanced at Noctis. "Let's go," he said with a smile. I face forward and took off. The gust from my wings broke a few trees as I flew above the forest. Noctis held on to the base of my neck with a gentle grip. He must be afraid that he'll hurt me if he hung on any tighter. I gave him a look that told him to have a tighter grip on me. "You sure?" He asked, concern laced through his voice. I simply nod.
He does as I say and I began to fly faster. Insomnia came into view once we passed through the Leide region. I fly above the buildings, feelings thousands of eyes on me. The attention was something that made me want to turn back. Noctis must've felt my anxiety and rubbed the scales on my neck. It soothed my mind and heart. Once we reached our destination, Noctis insisted I wait in the garden. He also told me to stay as I was.
That last part confused me. Why would he want me to stay in my dragon form? I trusted in him and flew to the garden. The sun beats down on my scales, making it unbearably hot. When I reached the garden, a tree with a decent amount of shade caught my eye. With a small huff, I laid in wait. The comfortable shade and soft grass made by eyes droopy. Sleep took over my body with ease.
The sound of a door opening made my eyes fly open. It was Noctis, but I didn't see his father with him. I tilted my head in confusion and Noctis knew exactly what I wanted to ask. "He's busy at the moment. I told him we would be in the garden." His hair gleamed in the sun along with his beautiful blue eyes. With a loud yawn, Noctis stretched his arms towards the sky. His actions had caused me to yawn as well.
"Wow, never seen a dragon yawn before," he laughs. I puff a small amount of smoke in his face. He fanned it away with a smug look. He walked over and sat next me. Noctis reclined back, resting his whole body against mine. With another yawn, he glanced up at me. "Did I wake you when I came out?"
I didn't know he was so observant. He chuckled and put his hands behind his head. "Even though you can't talk, I can read you like a book." I just stared at him, wondering if he knew what else I was going to say. "Yeah, yeah. Don't look at me like that. I read books... on occasions."
Oh, yeah. He knew exactly what I was thinking. I nudged the prince with my muzzle, growling faintly. "I'll text them later. Stop worrying so much, (Y/n)." I flicked him gently with my tail. "Hey, what was that for?" He asked with a look of hurt in his face. I knew he was just pretending. I roll my eyes and lay my head down on the soft grass. Noctis moves from my side and rests against my neck.
I watched him from the corner of my eyes. His eyes slowly closed, and soon, a faint snore escaped his throat. A warm sensation took over my body as I saw Noctis fall asleep while leaning against me. A smile finds its way to my lips at the sight. His chest rose slowly with each breath. The sound of him sleeping made my sleepiness return. With a small adjustment, I welcomed myself to the world of dreams.
~3rd Person POV~
As the two lovers fell asleep, they were being watched. King Regis was just about to walk out to the garden to greet the girl that saved his son's life. He couldn't bring himself to after the sight before him. Noctis was curled up, laying against (Y/n)'s scales. Both their bodies steadily rose with each breath. A smile graced the king's face as he kept his eyes on the beautiful couple. "I will wait." His smile stayed on his face as he went back to the throne room. Before he completely lost sight of them, he glanced at them one more time.
"You're in good hands, my son."
