121) Ignis
~(Y/n)'s POV~
When the sunlight began to break just above the horizon, I got up to prepare breakfast. Since Ignis didn't get to bed until late last night, I decided to take over morning cooking duty. A sound from the tent caught my attention. When I turned around, no one was there. I shook my head and went back to cooking.
After half an hour of cooking, I was completely finished. Now all I have to do is wait for everyone to wake up. As I was placing the dishes down, arms came from behind and dragged me away from the camp. I struggled and tried to free myself, but the people wouldn't let me go. They dragged me for a few minutes until they finally let me go.
I was about to summon my blade but was stopped when I saw the faces of the people who had dragged me away from camp. "Noctis. Prompto," I growl their names. It was very rare for me to not use their nicknames. Crossing my arms, I glare at the duo. "What are you planning?"
"Prompto needs your help. He wants a close-up picture of a Catoblepas." After listening to Noctis, my eyes darted to the blonde standing next to him. Prompto began to send his puppy dog eyes at me. I took a deep breath and sighed in annoyance. "Fine, but Iggy's not gonna like this once he figures out."
"We know," the boys said in unison. "So, will you choose the best mushrooms?" Prompto begged. I nod and we found the mushrooms easily. Not far from a watering hole for Catoblepas, we headed over to our final stop. Mushrooms in hand, Noctis stood near the water's edge. Prompto prepared his camera while I stood next to him.
The Catoblepas began creeping up to Noctis. The smell of the mushrooms must've finally reached its nose. I gulped as it slowly began closing in on Noctis. I could tell the prince was not enjoying this one bit. "Hurry up and take the damn picture!" Noctis shouts at the blonde.
"Just a few more inches!" Prompto yells back. Even though I stood a safe distance away, the fear inside me grew. "Prom, take it now!" I shout at him. He snaps the pictures and we began to run for cover. The Catoblepas was getting too close and Prompto fired a shot at it. The bullet had enraged the creature, causing it to raise one of its large feet.
"Prom, stop!" I tackle him just in time before he was squished. Our bodies went rolling and we made it to cover. The Catoblepas had lost track of our movements, turning its attention away from us. Prompto and I sigh in unison. He suddenly gasped, catching my attention.
"You're bleeding!" When I looked where his eyes were, blood was seeping from a scrap on my knee. Noctis ran over after hearing Prompto shout. Making sure not to grab the creature's attention, the prince made his way over to us very carefully. I went to wipe dirt from my face and winced. I pulled my fingers away and saw blood.
"Great, I've got a scratch on my face, too."
"Specs is going to kill us," Noctis groans. "We definitely should've not brought you along. Ignis is going to skin us alive once he finds out you're injured." Prompto ran his hands through his blonde hair in a tizzy. "Maybe he'll go easy on you?" I shrug my shoulders.
"He never goes easy on anyone when it comes to you, (Y/n)," Noctis stated. "Anyways, did you get what you wanted?" I ask, changing the subject. "Oh, yeah!" Prompto buoyantly replies. I pat their shoulders and we head back to camp. Once we were close, they both stopped.
"Guys, you may as well as face him now," I said with my hands on my hips. "We're dead," Noctis mumbles. "Totally," Prompto adds. I dragged the two back and we were greeted by Gladio. Once his eyes landed on my form, his eyes traveled to my wounds. "Iggy's gonna be pissed," he said.
"Stop reminding us," Noctis snaps at the brute. "Let me guess; they dragged you along?" Gladio directed his gaze towards me. I nodded, not surprised that he hit the nail on the head. We heard dishes clanking and saw Ignis was cleaning the dirty ones. Luckily, he hasn't heard our conversation yet.
Our peace didn't last long because Prompto accidentally tripped over a chair leg. This was enough to grab Ignis' attention. "Ah, there you-" His eyes shot wide open when he saw my condition. He quickly set the dishes down and was at my side in no time. He cupped my cheek and examined the scratch. "What happened?" He asked, more stern than ever.
I accidentally glanced at the two boys behind me. 'Oh, crap,' I thought. Ignis saw my gaze and let me go. Noctis and Prompto tried to run, but Gladio grabbed them before they could escape. For some reason, I felt a little bad for those two. I watched as Ignis dragged them into the tent, zipping it up so Gladio and I couldn't hear the lecture.
"Wanna bet what punishment he'll give 'em?" Gladio asked with a smug look. "Oh, you're on." I placed my bet that Ignis would make them clean the dishes for a whole month. Gladio betted that they would be forced to cook. The tent opened after an hour. Noctis and Prompto stayed in the tent while Ignis stepped out with the first-aid kit. He gently called for me to sit in a chair. I did as he said and he kneeled in front of me.
Ignis pulled out the disinfectant and a small cotton ball. He dabbed some disinfectant on the soft, white ball. Before he applied it, our eyes met. "I know, I know. It's gonna sting," I said. A small glint of worry crossed through his eyes. "You handle yourself very well when it comes to disinfecting wounds."
"The world won't wait for me to heal," I said matter-of-factly. Ignis nods in agreement. "Nor will it give mercy to the injured." He gently began to clean my wound on my knee. The stinging sensation made me grip the side of the chair tightly. Ignis noticed and his expression flipped like a coin. His worried green eyes carefully took ahold of my (e/c) ones. "They told me all of what happened. A careless but brave act on your part, (Y/n)," he said.
"I know, but I didn't want Prompto to get squished," I defend. He finished patching up my knee and moved up to my cheek. Our eyes were locked once again. Neither one of us looked away. "That's what makes you incredible." His words caught me by surprise. "You... you think I'm incredible?"
After finishing tending to the cut on my cheek, he nods. "Of course you are, (Y/n). That is only one of the hundreds of reasons I fell in love with you." He pulled my face towards his gently, making sure not to irritate the scratch.
"I-Ignis, what-" His soft lips found mine within seconds. As soon as our lips met, my whole body felt like it was on fire. My heart was racing inside my chest with no signs of stopping anytime soon. With a small head tilt from Ignis, the kiss grew even deeper.
"You are a beautiful and entrancing young lady," he said between kisses. Those words, along with the deep kiss, made my cheeks ignite with a red tint. Before he kissed me again, I made sure to speak my mind about him. "And you are a striking man with a heart made out of pure gold." Ignis chuckled and planted kisses on my cheeks.
"If my heart is made of gold, yours is pure diamond."
I couldn't stop smiling as he stole another kiss from me. Our make-out session was ended when Gladio cleared his throat. "So, what's their punishment?" He asked with a raised brow. Ignis sighs, annoyed that we had to break apart. "Dishes for a month." Gladio groans in realization that he lost our bet. I laugh and triumphantly grin at the shield. "You owe me five hundred gil, big guy."
Ignis was completely mystified by our exchange of words. "We made a bet on what punishment you'd give Noct and Prom," I said. Ignis chuckled as he ran a hand through my (h/c) hair. Gladio flew up to his feet. "That's what I get for betting against the woman who knows him best." He walks into the tent where Noctis and Prompto sat with guilty looks painted on their faces. Now that we were alone, I grabbed Ignis' collar and continued our make-out session. His eyes widened at my sudden action. It didn't take long for him to kiss back.
"So glad we finally get some alone time," I said and let him go. Ignis chuckled and caressed my cheek with his gloved hand. "As am I, (Y/n)."
