~3rd Person POV~

"Stupid sand... It's everywhere!" Prompto whines as he treads through the scorching dessert. "Stupid sun! Stupid wind! Stupid-!" His words ceased when a cloud of sand blew into his mouth. He let out an annoyed shriek before searching desperately for a source of water. Fortunately, he was able to find a nearby oasis with a small herd of Ibexes resting under the shade of a few palm trees. His eyes gleamed with joy as he ran to the crystalline body of water. Cleaning his mouth out and drinking a few gulps, he sighed and flopped on his back.

"Why am I the one who gets transported to another world? I don't even know where I am!" He shouts at the top of his lungs, scaring a few of the Ibexes away. Groaning, he got to his feet and searched for the nearest civilization.

After an hour, he spotted vast fields of various plants and wheat. Though he was given strange looks by the people of this world, he pushed his fear aside and headed to the city that loomed in the distance. He picked up his pace, ignoring his screaming muscles.

Inside the city, he recognized the Ancient Egyptian structures from anywhere. He hastily clamped a hand over his mouth and found a desolate spot. "Oh... my... gods... I'm in Assassin's Creed!" He tried to keep himself from fainting as he walked through the streets of Memphis. All he could think about were the two main characters in the game-Bayek and (Y/n). In his mind, the boy prayed to meet at least one of them while traveling the sandy streets.

Without paying attention, Prompto had wandered into a restricted area and grabbed the attention of the Roman soldiers guarding the place. "Prohibere eum! (Stop him!)" A soldier shouts, pointing to him.

(A/n: The languages of the Roman Empire were Greek and Latin. I chose Latin because it's easier than typing up Greek.)

Unable to speak their language, Prompto remained frozen in his place. As the Roman men surrounded him, he was ready to feel a spear or a sword impale him. Waiting for the pain, he shut his eyes tightly and fell to his knees.

The guards around him suddenly yelled out in pain, causing Prompto to open his eyes hesitantly. He gasped when he saw a figure standing in front of him with their back facing him. Scanning over the outfit, he knew exactly who it was.

"(Y/n)," he whispered her name. She was a few inches shorter than him, but her small stature made him feel safe.

The girl spun to face the boy, her Anubis mask in full view. "You know my name?"

Hearing her Egyptian accent, he felt he was going to faint from joy. She was around the same age as him and knew she had joined the remaining members of the Medjay to help end the Order of the Ancients. He kept the information secret and nodded. "Y-Yeah, everyone calls you the 'Warrior of Anubis' because of your mask, but I heard a few people call you by name."

"Before I pry, let us take shelter in my abode," she said with a stoic expression. Prompto nods in silence and follows closely behind. Walking through the dense streets, he felt even more eyes upon him. Unconsciously, he reached out towards (Y/n) and latched onto her shoulder. He realized what he did and tried to retract his hand, but the girl quickly covered it and smiled at him over her shoulder. "It's alright. I know you are scared." She moves his hand from her shoulder to take it in her own to comfort him.

Prompto bit his bottom lip. He had forgotten she was able to pick up on someone's behavior rather quickly. He tightened his hold on her hand as they hid from a few Roman soldiers riding by on horses. "We're almost there," she informs him.

As she had said, they arrived a few minutes later. Entering the front door, (Y/n) closes and locks it the moment Prompto walks through the heavy wooden doors and releases her hand. He took in the beautifully decorated house with artifacts neatly on display. The home had two floors-the first being a small room with a few tables and chairs while the second was the study and bedroom. "Let me change," she said and headed upstairs.

Prompto sat down and waited for (Y/n). He played through her story in his mind, remembering how tragic it was. The young girl had wealthy parents but they were sentenced to death by Ptolemy XIII for being marked as traitors under false pretenses. After their deaths, (Y/n) taught herself how to use a sword and bow to protect the innocent people of Egypt. Eventually, Bayek had found the girl injured and helped her back onto her feet. He asked her to join him and Aya to destroy the Order of the Ancients and avenge her parents and Khemu, Bayek's son.

"Would you like some wine?"

Prompto heard (Y/n)'s voice and looked up. Eyeing her outfit, he felt heat rising to his cheeks.

Swallowing hard, Prompto nods. "Y-Yes, please."

(Y/n) smiles and pours two cups of wine. She hands one golden chalice to the boy, allowing him to sooth his dry throat. The wine was very refreshing with a slightly sweet tint to its delicious taste. The warrior sat next to Prompto, crossing her legs. "What is your name?"

"I-I, um, I'm Prompto."

"A pleasure, Prompto. You speak and dress strange."

"I'm not from here," he said, his grip on the chalice tightening.

"I see. Welcome to Memphis."

Staring into her (e/c) eyes, he noticed she changed the topic on purpose. "Thanks for earlier, (Y/n)."

"It is my duty to protect the innocent people of Egypt. Do not fear for you have no need to pay me back. You may also stay as long as you desire."

"You're too kind. I feel I would be in the way," Prompto sorrowfully breaks eye contact with her.

"Nonsense, Prompto. I'd rather enjoy the company than finding you to be a burden. This place has been empty since my mother and father have departed to the field of reeds without me."

Mentally, the blonde was cheering that he knew what she was referring to and to the fact he was able to stay. Without the comforts of Eos, (Y/n) would be his only hope to surviving this world and his only friend. In the meantime, he would put all his trust into the girl sitting next to him.

They talked for awhile until Prompto's stomach rumbled, earning a smile from (Y/n). "Let me prepare a meal to quench your hunger."

While she prepared dinner, Prompto went into the small garden that was in the back of the house. Luckily, it was surrounded by walls and prevented those with prying eyes to peek. A small fountain decorated the center of the pristine garden, adding to its beauty. The moon was the only light provided in the garden, reflecting off the surface of the water. A cool breeze caused a chill to wash over his entire body.

Heading back inside, the smell of fresh baked bread and fish made Prompto's mouth water. (Y/n) entered with two plates and set them down on the small table that was surrounded by plush cushions. "Come and sit. I hope you haven't waited long."

"That was really quick," Prompto comments as he sits on a cushion across from (Y/n).

"Bayek said the exact same thing once. My mother taught me how to cook bread and fish efficiently in a short amount of time."

"Aziza and Keelan were amazing people."

Prompto immediately realized what he said and covered his mouth. (Y/n) sat her chalice down before she could sip at her wine. "You have heard of them?"

"Y-Yeah, your mother was from Thebes and your father was from Corinth. They were Medjays that served the pharaohs."

"Slaughtered by the family they served for years," she mumbles sadly. "I was only ten when I lost them. I am glad to see they are not forgotten."

As they ate, they talked about random things. Prompto smiles every time he was able to make (Y/n) laugh. Even though he was inside a video game, he felt as if this was the real world.

Hours had passed and (Y/n) guided Prompto up the stairs. Three small beds were located next to the study with cotton sheets spread across them. "Choose a bed. In the morning, we shall head to the market. I am in need of yeast and lentils. It will also be a good chance to give you a tour of Memphis."

Prompto nods with a smile and claims the closest bed to him. In the next bed over, (Y/n) blows out the candles and wishes him a good night's rest. In minutes, both were in deep sleep.

-Next Morning-

As (Y/n) had promised, the two were at the market. Prompto offered to carry the sacks of yeast and lentils for her, which she gladly accepted. After dropping the ingredients at (Y/n)'s house, she gave him a tour of Memphis on horseback.

By the time they returned to the safety of (Y/n)'s home, Prompto was worn out from all the riding and walking they had done. "A drink for you?" She asked sweetly.

"Yeah. Anything will do."

"How about some beer? I have plenty."

"Definitely could use one."

"One beer, it is."

She poured the liquid into a chalice and handed it over. When Prompto took a sip, it was much thicker than he had imagined. It also was easier to drink than the brands back home.

(Fun Fact: Beer in Ancient Egypt was made from barley, emmer, yeast, and uncooked malt, which is why the beer was thick. It also was not particularly intoxicating. Instead, it was nutritious, thick, and sweet.)

As the two were drinking and conversing like the day before, a knock on the front door startled both of them. (Y/n) pushed a finger over her lips, signaling Prompto to be silent. She stood from her seat and walked towards the door.

"Who is it?" She asked sternly.

"Who else comes to visit you, (Y/n)?" The voice asked with a slight chuckle.

The girl smiled as she opened the door. "It is unlike you to use a door, Bayek."

(Y/n) let the Medjay in, his eyes landing on Prompto. A grin played on his lips as he flicked his eyes over to the girl. "Am I interrupting?"

"No, not at all. We were just talking each other's ears off. Bayek, this is Prompto, a friend of mine."

"Ah, I was praying you had finally found someone special," Bayek smiles.

Prompto's cheek flushed red while (Y/n) rolled her eyes with a laugh. "What brings you to Memphis? I thought Aya was still residing in Alexandria."

"I have business to attend to and a message for you," he states.

Confused, (Y/n) raised a brow. "What message?"

"Taharqa is calling you to Letopolis," Bayek responds.

Prompto's eyes widen at hearing the name. The chalice fell from his grip, beer spilling across the intricately tiled floor. (Y/n) and Bayek glances at the boy, seeing the fear in his eyes. She walked over to him and placed a hand on his arm. "Are you alright?"

"I-I..." His eyes flicker to Bayek for a split second, but (Y/n) caught it. She asked the Medjay to give them a few minutes alone. He understood and left to talk. The young woman kneeled in front of Prompto and took his hands. "Do you know Taharqa?"

"You can't go! Please, don't go to Letopolis... please, (Y/n)?" He begged, gripping her hands tightly.

She stared into his sapphire eyes, noting the panic and fear in them. "Prompto, I-"

The blonde tackled her in a hug, crushing her smaller frame in his embrace. He had already seen the scene unfold, but he couldn't bring himself to watch it again. Though it was simply a game, it had affected him more than usual. The events played out in his head, causing him to bury his head in the crook of her neck and let a few tears slip. "Please... don't go..."

(Y/n) stroked his blonde locks gently, relaxing him entirely. "Prompto, I... I must go."

His body immediately tensed up. He pulled away but kept his arms around her. "What can I do to stop you?"

"Nothing. But... what about Taharqa has you so frightened for my safety? If you know something, please do not seal your lips."

"H-He's going to kill you," he murmurs through sobs.

"How do you know this?" She asked.

"I-I've seen it before. (Y/n), I'm not from this world. Where I come from, this is all just a video game." Prompto finally spoke the truth. Their gazes were locked, neither one of them blinking. Of course she didn't know what a 'video game' was, but she pushed that aside and couldn't ignore the honesty brimming from his tear-stricken eyes. She inhaled deeply before letting out a heavy sigh. "Tell me exactly what happens."

His eyes widened once again as she didn't question him. Getting back onto topic, Prompto nods. "He's going to poison you. Whatever you do, don't drink anything he gives you."

"What else do you know about Taharqa?" She asked.

"He's... He's the Scarab."

Her face remained the same, revealing no shock to his words. She turned towards the door with her hands in Prompto's. "Bayek, I know you heard everything. You know what we must do."

The door opened and the Medjay entered the house. "The neket iadet will see the Duat soon enough. We depart for Letopolis tomorrow."

"Bayek, you don't have to accompany me," she sternly states.

"No, I will kill him myself. While you keep him occupied, I will drive my blade through his heart." The rage in Bayek's being seeped everywhere. The thirst for revenge lingered in the air as the Medjay left.

"I hope his revenge doesn't blind him and cause his downfall," (Y/n) melancholically sighs. She turned back to Prompto and flipped her frown upside-down. "Prompto, will you accompany me tomorrow?"

"Y-You want me to tag along? Why?"

"I desire a friend at my side. Taharqa will be suspicious of you, but I will make sure you are seen as his ally. If you wish to remain here, I completely understand."

"No, I'll go with you. I'd feel much better to know I was there with you, (Y/n)."

Smiling, she placed a kiss on his cheek. "Thank you, Prompto. Let us have a small meal and call it a night. Knowing Bayek, we will depart the moment the sun pierces across the horizon." Blushing, he nods and releases her hands.

-Next Morning-

Early in the morning, Prompto was awoken by (Y/n), who was now back in her fighting attire. The Anubis mask obscured her eyes, but he was still able to see the gentle smile across her face. "It's time, Prompto." He quickly got up and followed her out of the house. Bayek was already mounted on his horse, waiting patiently for him and (Y/n).

On their own horse, Bayek guides them to Letopolis. During the ride, Prompto tightly clung to (Y/n). She didn't mind, knowing he was still frightened and worried for her own life more than his own. As they rode through the desert to reach Letopolis, she suddenly felt something resting on her shoulder. Peeking from the corner of her eye, she noticed Prompto had rested his head on her shoulder while both his arms rested around her waist. They both were silent, their minds brimming with possibilities of how this would end.

Arriving in Letopolis, Bayek separated from (Y/n) and Prompto to get a better advantage on Taharqa. Prompto remembered the way to the man's house and directed (Y/n) to it. To their dismay, the man had already been waiting for them. A friendly smile was plastered across his face, but the duo knew it was completely fabricated with malice. Feigning kindness, (Y/n) greets the man and hops of the horse with Prompto close behind.

"A pleasure to meet you, Taharqa. I've heard many honorable things about you."

"You as well, Warrior of Anubis. Bayek talks very highly of you. I am surprised to see how young you are," Taharqa said.

"Call me (Y/n). I hope you do not mind I have brought a close friend with me." (Y/n) took Prompto's hand and pulled him to her side.

"Not at all. A friend of yours is always welcomed. Come-my wife, Maharet, has prepared us a delicious meal. I hope you are both hungry."

They follow the man into his home and were greeted by Maharet and Kawab. The two were very kind and the younger boy asked about Greece after hearing about (Y/n)'s heritage from his father. As Maharet continued to prepare the food, Taharqa had asked to talk to (Y/n) in private and have a few drinks with the young woman. Alarm bells rang inside Prompto's head as Taharqa handed her a chalice of wine and guided her out of the room and to the temple next to the house. He quickly dismissed himself and claimed to have wished to check on the horse.

In the shadows, Prompto followed Taharqa and (Y/n) through the temple. Peering upwards, he spotted Bayek with his hidden blade at the ready as he waited for an opening to kill the man. The boy hid behind a collapsed column, eavesdropping on their conversation. "Please, drink, (Y/n). It is a rare wine I found in Alexandria."

"I thank you for the drink, but I wish to save it for an exquisite beverage should accompany a hearty meal."

Prompto smiled at her words. If he didn't say anything about the poison, she would've drank the wine right then and there, causing her heart to stop only minutes later. Sadly, his joy was short-lived as Taharqa was persistent. "Do not worry. We have plenty more. Take a sip and tell me of the flavor."

Peering over the column, Prompto stared directly at the two. "I do not desire to savor the wine just yet. I am a stubborn woman and shall wait for the perfect moment to taste such perfection," (Y/n) laughs.

Taharqa forced a chuckle as she turned her back and examined the hieroglyphics on a nearby wall. Prompto watched as the man sauntered up behind (Y/n) and pull out what looked like a dagger. "A stubborn woman, indeed."

Prompto jumped from his hiding spot and shouted at the top of his lungs. "(Y/n), behind you!"

The young woman spun around at the sound of his bellowing voice and was met with an extreme pain in her abdomen. She gasped in pain, dropping the chalice as her eyes met Taharqa's malicious-filled ones. All he did was grin and yank the blade from her body. Blood poured from the wound as (Y/n) desperately tried to stop the bleeding with her hand.

Prompto reaches her just as she collapsed and took her body in his arms. Eyes wide with tears, he held her close and pleaded for her to not close her eyes. Taharqa began laughing maniacally, but he was soon silenced when a blade pierced his back. Bayek kicked the man away and gritted his teeth. With pure revulsion, the Medjay kicked him in the face. "Your Ka will never rest for what you've done! First, you take my son from me. Now, you claim a close friend! I hope the vultures pick at your remains for years to come."

As Bayek handled the dying Taharqa, Prompto cradled (Y/n)'s body closely with tears streaming down his cheeks. She tried her best not to close her eyes, but the pain was too unbearable. "N-No, (Y/n), stay with me, please!" As her eyes closed, something began tugging on both their bodies. Prompto was consumed by dizziness and closed his eyes, but he refused to let go of (Y/n).

When the dizziness passed, Prompto opened his eyes to see he was back at the Assassin's Festival in Lestallum. Quickly, he shouted out for help and grabbed the attention of a nearby vendor. Without needing to say a word, the man used a phoenix down and a hi-potion on (Y/n). Prompto thanked the man profusely for his quick act. The vendor placed a hand on his shoulder and smiled reassuringly. "She'll be fine."

He nods and scoops (Y/n) up in his arms, carrying her to the Leville and to the room Ignis had purchased for their stay during the festival. The moment he laid her body on the bed, she woke up with a groan and sat up to exam her body. Seeing she was completely healed, she was in complete awe. "How is this possible?"

Prompto sat on the edge of the bed and told her what happened while she was unconscious. He told her of how they were now back in his world and how her injuries were healed by curatives. She absorbed each and every word slowly, trying to make sense of everything. After a few minutes of silence, she accepted his words, knowing he wouldn't lie to her.

Just then, the door to the room flew open and the others ran in. "There you are!" Noctis shouts.

"We've been looking for your ass for three days! Where've you been?" Gladio ponders.

Ignis then spotted the girl who was next to Prompto. "It seems you've been in the company of an acquaintance."

"S-Something like that," the blonde mutters.

Noctis and Gladio eyed the girl closely, taking in her attire. The prince took note of the (e/c) eyes that could be seen through the Anubis mask. "You look exactly like (Y/n) from Origins."

"Uh, Noct... That's because she is (Y/n)," Prompto states.

"You're tellin' me this is the exact same (Y/n) from the game and not a girl dressed as her?" Noctis raised a brow as proof he didn't believe his best friend's words one bit.

"I'm not lying!" Prompto bellows.

"Then, prove it." Noctis crosses his arms.

The sharpshooter turned and faced (Y/n). "Can you take off your mask and pull down the hood?" She nods and does as Prompto asked. Placing her mask on the bed, she then pulled off her hood and freed her (h/c) hair. Noctis' jaw fell to the floor as Gladio and Ignis stared in shock with wide eyes. Seeing their expressions, Prompto smiled triumphantly. "Told ya!"

"I am aware of our worlds and about this 'video game' you speak of," (Y/n) said.

Hearing the Egyptian accent, Noctis was completely convinced and almost fainted. Along with Prompto, she was his favorite character from the game next to Bayek.

"Fascinating," Ignis awed.

"Hell, I'm convinced. Kinda wanna know how you're here and where the hell Prom's been these past few days," Gladio said.

"He was with me in Memphis," (Y/n) answered.

"You... went... into... the... game?!" Noctis shouts.

"Yeah. (Y/n) saved me and allowed me to stay with her. She took me all around Memphis and even allowed me to tag along with her and Bayek to Letopolis," Prompto brags.

"Hold on, didn't you both cry when you got to that part of the game?" Gladio asked with a slight smirk.

"Hey, it was a tear-jerking moment," Prompto said with a pout.

"Wait, if (Y/n)'s here... that means you told her about the poison." Noctis remembered the scene clearly.

"Yes, he did. Alas, Taharqa stabbed me as I refused to drink the wine," said girl answers.

"After she was stabbed, we both were transported back here. Not sure how, but with help from a vendor, she was completely healed," Prompto explained.

"That's good to hear. Well, since she's here, we could show her our world," Noctis said with an enormous smile.

"I would love to. Prompto has told me many things, but now I will be able to make more sense of his stories," (Y/n) smiles.

"You should put your mask back on. We don't want you to get stormed by crazed fans," Gladio states. (Y/n) nods and puts her mask on and pulls up her hood. It took all of Noctis' strength to hold back his excitement as the girl got to her feet.

"Ready to go, (Y/n)?" Prompto asked, beaming at the woman. She nods and the five of them exit the Leville.

On the streets, every person they walked by was staring at (Y/n). With Prompto walking close beside her, she whispers for only him to hear. "I now feel how uncomfortable you were walking through the streets of Memphis."

Prompto then reached out and took her hand in his own. "Since you held my hand, I'll hold yours."

When they reached the main street, people began to beg (Y/n) to take a picture with them. The boys made sure she didn't have to speak and grab even more attention.

At the outlook, it was only (Y/n) and Prompto. The others went to get a few meat skewers for everyone. Luckily, the outlook was vacated and no one could interrupt them. She removed her hood and mask once she noticed the coast was clear. After a long silence, Prompto spoke up. "(Y/n), if I were to ask you to stay in this world... would you?"

"It wounds me to leave Bayek and Aya, but I do not believe they will need my help any longer. After all, I am sure he is convinced I have passed. All I would be leaving behind would be a house."

"So, you'll stay?" Prompto questioned eagerly.

"Yes, I will stay," she beams.

Without thinking, Prompto crushed her in his arms. "Thank the Six..."

"Something else is pestering you. What is it?" She asked as she reciprocated the hug.

"I can't hide anything from you, huh?" Prompto chuckled nervously. He sighed heavily before breaking the hug. "In our short time tighter, I-I... Gah! This is so hard to say!"

(Y/n) placed her hands on his cheeks, making his sapphire irises meet her (e/c) ones. "Take your time. Do not rush yourself."

Prompto nodded and took a deep breath. Calming himself, his heart returned to its normal rhythm. "I love you, (Y/n)."

Her eyes widened by a small fraction at his confession. She was at a lost for words at the sudden proclamation of love. (Y/n) had never been in a relationship before for she was solely helping the innocent people of Egypt. Now that she was no longer in her world, she was free to choose another path only she could dictate. The hands on his cheeks remained, her thumbs now caressing his freckled skin.

Unconsciously, Prompto leaned into her touch and closed his eyes in ecstasy. After more silence passed, (Y/n) had only one question to ask. "Is it alright for me to love another?"

Shocked, Prompto's eyes flew open in confusion. "Of course you do. Why are you asking such a question?"

"My hands have been tainted by the blood of men-an amount that is impossible to wash away."

The boy covered her hands that still rested against his cheeks. "You've killed men who tried to slaughter innocent people. Your hands aren't tainted, (Y/n). You've saved countless of lives with them."

A few tears slipped from her eyes at his kind words. "Then, it is alright for me to love you back?"

"Of course it is! I love you, (Y/n). You've no idea how happy I am," he smiled as he leaned his forehead against hers.

"I've never loved someone. Will you guide me, Prompto?"

His answer was to press his lips against hers. The sudden kiss was intoxicating and made both (Y/n) and Prompto melt in each other's arms. Pushing through the passion, the blonde deepened the kiss and caught (Y/n) as her body seemed to collapse under the intensity. He wrapped both of his arms around her waist to keep her on her feet.

The two pull apart the moment they need air from the heated moment. Prompto smiled at her, his eyes gleaming in adoration. "I'm so happy you've decided to stay. The others are gonna flip! In time, you'll adjust to Eos and I'll make sure to help you in any way I can."

"I look forward to learning about my new home."
