~(Y/n)'s POV~

When I learned I was pregnant, Noctis and I decided to hide it from the others. Luckily, the baby bump wasn't large since I was only a few weeks pregnant. Ever since Noctis figured out, he wouldn't take his eyes off of me.

Every time I went out, he would always accompany me. The prince was excited about the child, but he was also worried for my safety and the baby's. I couldn't even wander the Citadel halls when he had meetings with his father.

One day, Noctis dragged me to the Citadel and had to introduce me to someone named Vienna Archard. Apparently, the woman is a new Crownsguard recruit and it was her duty to watch over the prince while Ignis had other things to tend to.

Inside the library, I waited for Noctis and the new Crownsguard member. After ten minutes, he returned with a woman who had dark green locks and brown eyes. When she smiled at me, I felt something sinister behind the supposedly friendly gesture. "You must be Noctis' girlfriend, (Y/n). I'm Vienna Archard. A pleasure to meet you."

"Um, likewise, Vienna," I said unsurely.

Noctis must've sensed what I had felt and stood in between me and Vienna. "So, you'll be taking Specs place until his schedule is cleaned up?"

"Yes. I will be your advisor until then. For now, shall we head to your apartment? I heard Ignis usually takes care of meals."

"That won't be necessary. (Y/n)'s been the cook ever since we started dating," Noctis responds, taking my hand in his.

"It is my job to escort you to your apartment, Your Highness," Vienna rebuttals.

"We'll be fine. Let's go home, (Y/n)." Noctis dragged me out of the library and out of the Citadel. He didn't let go of my hand until we were back in his apartment.

"She was very persistent about coming with us," I stated.

"(Y/n), whatever you do, don't be caught by yourself with her," his tone was dead serious.

"You felt it, too, huh?"

"Yeah, and I already don't like her. Just make sure you're never alone with her."

"Don't worry. That's on the top of the list."

-A Few Days Later-

It was Saturday and Noctis insisted on a lazy day. I agreed with a sigh and decided to let him sleep in until noon. When he was finally awake, I made both of us lunch. Before we could even take a bite, someone knocked on the front door. I went to answer it, but Noctis grabbed my wrist and stopped me. "I'll get it."

He got up from the table and opened the door a crack. "What're you doin' here?" He asked with a hint of anger.

"I'm here to check on you." Vienna's voice leaked through the door and I rolled my eyes in disbelief. She shoved past Noctis and let herself in. When my (e/c) eyes met with her chocolate gaze, she sent a sharp glare that could cut through the thickest metal. She tried to hide it from Noctis, but he caught her before she could. "You need to leave. Now."

"I'm supposed to be checking in on you," she said matter-of-factly.

"'Checking in' doesn't mean barging in and glaring at my girlfriend," Noctis hissed. "Leave, Vienna."

"Your father will hear of this, Your Highness," she spat.

"Go ahead and tell the whole damn Citadel. I wouldn't even care if you told the entire city," the prince snapped back.

Vienna turned on her heels and stormed out of the apartment. Noctis closed and locked the door once she was out of our hair. "I hate her already and it's only been a few days..."

"I don't understand why I'm on her bad side. We just met!"

"Just remember what I said. Never be alone with her. I've got a bad feeling about her and it's only growing."

-Monday-

Noctis was currently in a meeting with his father and the marshal. I waited impatiently in the hallway, waiting for the meeting to be adjourned. I decided to take a walk when I felt my feet were getting sore from standing still for a long period of time.

Walking down the hallway, I ended up running into the Wicked Witch of the West herself, Vienna. As usual, she was glaring at me as she stopped in front of me. She crossed her arms and grinned menacingly. "What's the prince's sweet girlfriend doing wandering the halls by herself?"

"Oh, just doing nunya."

"Nunya?"

"Nunya business. Begone before I pour water over your head and you melt into a puddle. Actually, I might just do that so I can step all over you."

Vienna gritted her teeth and pulled something out of her belt. She screamed as she tackled me to the ground and tried to stab me with a dagger. I held her wrist so the blade wouldn't pierce my throat. "You don't deserve Noctis! I love him and I'll make sure you're out of the picture for good!"

I pushed against her hand, desperately trying to stay alive. When I pushed too hard, Vienna slipped and the blade cut from my cheek to my eyebrow. I kicked her off of me and ran down the hallway, desperately searching for someone that could help.

Vienna caught up and threw her dagger. The blade embedded into my shoulder and I fell as pain surged through my body. "You're dead, you-!"

A gunshot was heard and Vienna screamed out in pain. I lifted my upper body from the tile and watched as she collapsed, holding her stomach. Behind her, I saw Prompto, Gladio, and Ignis. The trio rushed to me once they saw the blade lodged in my shoulder. The blonde placed a hand on my back and helped me to sit up better. "I'm so glad we made it in time."

"What're you talking about, Prom?" I question.

"A glaive divulged me during a meeting of what he discovered about our esteemed new Crownsguard member," Ignis said. "We were on our way to inform His Majesty, but learned of Vienna's new target."

"That would be you, (Y/n)," Gladio said.

"Why would she target me?"

"Her real target was Noct, but once she saw how happy you were with him, she wanted him for herself and needed you dead to succeed," Prompto responded.

"We'll tell you the rest when we get you to infirmary," Gladio said as he picked me up in his arms and carried me down the hallway.

The doctors' eyes widened when they saw the state I was in. Gladio sat me down on the bed and one doctor tended to the blade while the other cleaned up the blood dripping from my shoulder. Once the blade was removed, they disinfected the wound and bandaged my shoulder. For my face, they simply cleaned the gash and didn't worry about bandages because it wasn't necessary due to how shallow the blade had cut my skin.

The trio sat in the seats beside the bed as the doctors dismissed themselves to tell the King and Noctis. I placed a hand over the small baby bump, joyful to know Vienna had not caused any damage to the baby. Prompto saw me rubbing my belly and was confused. "Why're you rubbing your stomach? Are you hungry?"

"U-Um, no. I'm actually pregnant," I answer with a bashful smile.

"What?!" Prompto shouts, flying to his feet.

"Congratulations," Ignis beams.

"Thanks, Iggy. I'm only a few weeks along and that's why it's not as visible yet."

Gladio chuckled, "No wonder why Noct's been glued to your hip."

Our conversation was interrupted when the door to the infirmary flew open, revealing a panting Noctis. "I got here as fast as I could." He sat next to me and cupped my cheeks in his hands. Moving my head side-to-side, he examined my wounds and made sure there weren't any more. He sighs in relief and rests his head on my shoulder. "Thank the Six..." His head shot up. "What about-"

"The baby's fine, Noct."

Carefully, Noctis wrapped his arms around me and brought me into a gentle embrace. "When they told me she attacked you, I left the meeting and ran all the way here." He pulled away and glanced at his friends. "What happened to Vienna?"

"Prompto took care of her. The Kingsglaive will deal with her body," Gladio replied, pointing to the blonde boy.

"That shot. You killed her, didn't you, Prom?" I ask.

"Yeah... The glaive who shared the information with Iggy said she was an assassin sent by Niflheim. Our orders were to tell the King and have her executed, but we heard about her targeting you and decided to warn you. That's when we saw her attacking you. I just... pulled the trigger without thinking." Prompto slumped in his chair, regret brewing in his eyes.

"Don't regret your decision. If she was an assassin, I seriously doubt a shot to just simply wound her wouldn't stop her. You saved my life. Two lives, actually." I glanced down at my stomach with a smile.

His regret vanished and was replaced with joy. Noctis flopped on his back and sighed. "This has been the most stressful day ever."

I fell back on the bed and laid next to him, kissing him on the cheek. "Same here. I could use a nap."

"Same." Noctis sat up and peered down at me. "Wanna head home?"

"What about the rest of the meeting?"

"Dad insisted I leave and take you home. I'm not arguin' with that 'cause he's right. After what Vienna tried to pull, you need to rest."

I sigh and sit up. "Yeah, let's go home."

Noctis took my hand and we said our farewells to the boys before leaving.
