~3rd Person POV~
The sun had been slain by the moon, taking its place in the sky and casting its radiance across Lucis. Daemons wailed and cackled in the distance as Ira Arme Váltó walked down the dark road near the beautiful Galdin Quay. Her fuchsia hair whipped as the wind carried the smell of salt with it. She was ripped from her thoughts when the sound of blades clashing came from nearby. Curiosity gnawed at the girl as her walk turned into a slight jog.
With help from a faint glow from a few streetlights, Ira spotted a group of boys fighting a daemonwall. From here, she could tell they were struggling greatly against the daemon. With a few more steps forward, the young woman was able to put names to their familiar faces. Suddenly, her mind was engulfed in memories of the past.

-Middle School-
Ira sat quietly in her classroom. Minding her own business, she failed to notice the group of girls that sauntered through the doorway and towards her desk. They snickered as the leader of the group slammed a hand on Ira's desk to grab her attention. Unfazed, the girl rests her chin in her palm and turned her bored gaze towards the group. "Well, well, well. If it isn't the weirdest of 'em all. You gonna blow your top again today?"
Ira bit her lip, refusing to let the rage bubble to the surface and escape. The girls laughed loudly, knowing what buttons to push in order for Ira to use her powers. Luckily, a handful of girls entered the room while squealing in delight. They ran over to the group of bullies and whispered something to them. In the next instant, all the girls ran out into the hallway. Ira raised a brow and stood as she spotted a crowd brewing in the hallway.
In the hallway, she realized the crowd was because the students had just learned the young Prince of Lucis would be attending their school. Walking down the hallway was Noctis himself. Seeing no point in making the prince uncomfortable, Ira turned and tried to head back into the classroom. She accidentally bumped shoulders with a boy with blonde hair and piercing azure eyes. "Sorry," she quickly apologizes.
"It's okay," he responds.
Ira recognized the voice and got a better look at the boy. "Prompto?"
"Hey, Ira," he greets with a smile.
"I thought you were going to a different school?"
"Things worked out and I was able to come here. Are those girls from elementary still bullying you?" He asked with worry.
"Yeah, but thanks to you, I'm able to control my rage much better."
"I didn't do anything. That was all you."
"Ever since I met you, I've become more patient and confident than I've ever been. Glad to see I won't be alone in this school."
"Yeah, me, too."
After learning her only friend from elementary school and in her entire life was going to the same school, the two ate lunch together every day and walked home together.
One day, Prompto admitted to Ira that he wanted to become friends with Noctis. He, along with his friend, noticed the prince didn't have any friends whatsoever. After many failed attempts, the boy begged Ira to accompany him to talk to the prince. Sadly, not even her presence could help him talk to the future King.
Before the duo knew it, they were in high school. Noctis was attending the same school, which provided more attempts for Prompto to talk to the prince. After a few failed attempts in high school, Ira and Prompto befriended the raven-haired boy and the duo turned into a trio.
During their second year of high school, Noctis was having difficulty studying for a math test and asked Ira and Prompto for help. He invited them to his apartment to help him study.
While Ira slaved over the study sheet, Noctis and Prompto were playing video games. She rolled her eyes at their lack of studying and knew one or both of the boys would fail tomorrow's test.
Suddenly, the door to Noctis' apartment opened to reveal a man she had never met. "Hey, Specs," the prince greeted.
"It seems you have guests over," the bespectacled man says, setting down a bag of groceries on the counter. Unlike Ira, Prompto was aquatinted with the young royal advisor and casually spoke to him. The girl kept to her studying as Noctis introduced her to him. Ira placed her pencil down before sending him a gentle smile. "Nice to meet you, Ignis."
"A pleasure, Ira," he smiles back.
After their first meeting, it became routine for Ira to see Ignis. Eventually, the two became good friends and she finally met Noctis' shield, Gladiolus Amicitia. Seeing how strong he was and how well he could handle a sword, something snapped in her and she challenged the brute. The shield was very reluctant to let the young woman battle him since she hadn't even picked up any type of weaponry in her life.
Gladio gave in to her eagerness and guided her to the training room in the Citadel. Once inside, he allowed her to use a simple rapier since she had insisted on using a real sword. "You ready, Ira?"
"Ready as I'll ever be," she said, gripping the hilt of the rapier tightly. Noctis, Prompto, and Ignis stood on the sideline, curious as to how strong Ira truly was.
As the battle commenced, Ira's movements grew swifter and her blows were much more powerful than Gladio had expected from a first-timer. In the end, Ira came out victorious, shocking all the boys to their cores.
"Thought you said you never picked up a sword," Gladio said, dispelling his greatsword.
"I haven't, but it just felt so natural to use," she said, staring at the rapier in her hand.
"I can't believe you beat Gladio," Noctis muttered in surprise.
"I don't think any of us do," Prompto corrects.
Gladio walked over to Ira and placed a hand on her shoulder. "You'd make a good glaive."
"I'm not interested in being part of the Kingsglaive," she admits.
Gladio respected her decision and walked her over to the others. "How 'bout lunch?"
"Yes, let's," Ignis spoke up. The five departed from the Citadel and headed to a small diner that was only a few blocks from the grand building.
As they walked, the sound of laughing froze Ira. The boys noticed and came to a stop next to her. Ignis peered into her face, hoping to get an answer. "Are you alright, Ira?"
Her eyes were locked on a group of girls walking towards them. When she tried to hide behind Ignis, it was already too late. The girls spotted her and grinned as they came to a halt in front of her. "I can't believe we ran into the rage queen," one girl snickered.
"Still looks like she's the queen of weirdos, too," another girl laughs.
Something inside Ira snapped and she took a threatening step towards the girls. Her fingers flexed, summoning two large daggers in her hands. The weapons frightened everyone, especially the girls. They swallowed hard and immediately backed away from Ira. They bumped into each other as they turned and dashed off.
The moment the girls were out of sight, Ira dispelled her daggers and saw the world around her go black. Ignis noticed her body falling forward and quickly wrapped an arm around her waist to keep her from hitting the ground.
"W-Wait a second, I thought only glaives and Crownsguards could summon weapons," Prompto said. "Do you think..."
"It might be possible because of her powers," Noctis said as he checked over Ira. "Dad's gotta know about this."
"I'll tell His Majesty right away," Gladio states. Leaving Ira in Ignis' care, the brute ran back to the Citadel and informed the King of her abilities. Unbeknownst to all, Ira would be recruited into the Crownsguard the day she turned eighteen.
Now known as a Crownsguard member, Ira learned to control her abilities, especially her rage. As her first year after earning her new title, rumors spread throughout the entire Citadel about how she was recruited without question. Most of the gossip was false accusations of how she was recruited. The worst one she had heard so far was she had slept with the prince and the heir had secured her a position within the guard.
Ignis tried to dispose of such nonsense, but not even his influence stopped the fake rumors. Ira had shut out all the gossip and decided to turn the other cheek to those who did not believe in her abilities.
During her second year in the Crownsguard, she spent more time with Ignis and noticed how dedicated he was to the young heir of Lucis. In a span of a few months, she had fallen in love with the royal advisor.
Whenever he had to visit Noctis, he would always invite her along. At the prince's apartment, the tactician made dinner and decided to experiment with a few new recipes. Ira would sit at the counter and test every dish he cooked. One day, Ignis was frustrated as he was trying to perfect a dessert-carrot cupcakes. Noctis refuses to eat them, knowing there were small slivers of carrot inside the delectable batter.
"If Mr. Stuck-Up won't eat it, I'll gladly take a few pounds and burn them later," Ira said, resting her chin in her palm as she watched Ignis place icing on the cupcakes.
A smile graced his usual stoic face. "I do appreciate all the testing you've done, Ira."
"Iggy, you're a better cook than you think. All your dishes are amazing. Don't let Noct's distaste for vegetables get you down."
"Thank you, Ira."
A few days later, the young woman was jogging through the streets of Insomnia. A sudden jolt of energy surged through her body and she took off. Shocked at the revelation, Ira came to a stop and absorbed what just happened. "Did I just...?"
Then, she tried it again. The girl dashed lightning fast and came to a halt. "Yep, I just did."
-One Month Later-
Ira was packing her belongings, readying herself for a weeklong hunt initiated by Cor Leonis. She was supposed to report to a man named Dave Auburnbrie in Hammerhead just outside the city.
While she was zipping up her duffle bag, a knock came from her door. She wasn't expecting any visitors at this hour. Opening the door, she was greeted by Ignis. "Iggy, what're you doing here?" She allowed the man in and closed the door.
"I heard from Prompto of your upcoming hunt. His Majesty would have chosen you to accompany Noct to Altissia, but alas, the marshal has another mission in mind."
"I can't believe I won't be able to see you guys off, either. I was hoping to at least do that, but I leave tomorrow morning for Hammerhead and you all don't depart until the afternoon."
"And that, my dear, is why I am here," he said with a small smile. He headed into the kitchen and pulled out ingredients from the shopping bag he had.
Ira stood beside him and watched him closely. "You want to cook me dinner?"
"As a small token of your upcoming hunt," he replied.
"How sweet of you, Iggy. I might even blush," she giggles.
After a delicious dinner and a lengthy chat, Ignis was gathering his things so he could leave. Ira helped him and walked him to the door. She gave him a gentle smile as she opened the door for him. "Thank you for tonight, Iggy. I'm glad I was able to see you before I left."
"As am I, Ira. Do be careful on your journey," he said softly.
She stood on her toes and kissed him on the cheek. "I will."

The daemonwall swiped at the defenseless prince, who failed to block the attack. Before the blow reached Noctis, a rapier blocked the daemon's claws from impaling him. The raven-haired boy saw Ira and a wave of relief washed over him. She pushed against the daemonwall's claws and delivered a powerful parry, forcing the creature back and away from the group. She glanced over her shoulder at the boy and winked. "Rage is at ninety-five percent."
Prompto smiled, knowing exactly what it took to add to her rage and help her go all-out on the daemon. He tossed an insult her way, making sure not to sound forced or faked.
Even though Ira knew he was lying, it was enough to max out her rage. Running towards the daemon at lightning speeds, her rapier shifts into an axe and she jumps onto the daemonwall and delivered a powerful blow to its head. It wailed out, shaking its body and trying to rid itself of Ira. She impaled the monster once more with her axe, the sound of its skull splitting resounding outwards.
The boys took the advantage and attacked from below while Ira continued her assault above. She exchanged her axe for a bow and shouted, "Phoenix!" With a powerful jump, she leapt into the air and aimed her bow at the daemonwall. Pulling the string back, Ira yelled, "Sagittarius!" The single notched arrow turned into millions as she released her hold on the string. A storm of arrows rained down upon the monster, impaling its body and causing blood to spurt everywhere. In silence, the daemonwall collapsed and its body slowly disintegrated.
Ira dispelled her bow and heaved a heavy sigh as her rage was calmed. She closed her eyes as a cooling breeze ruffled her fuchsia locks, cooling her heated skin. Her eyes flew open when she felt arms wrap around her body in a friendly hug. "You've no idea how happy we are to see you, Ira!" The cheerful voice of Prompto rang in her ear.
"I can't believe we took that hunt," Gladio sighed.
"But we're alive thanks to Ira," Noctis said.
"We've missed you," the blonde smiles, releasing Ira from his arms.
"I've only been gone a week. Was I really that missed?" She inquired.
"Why, yes, you were," Ignis responds with a smile.
"Thanks for the help, Ira. What're you doin' out this late and walking down the highway?" Gladio wondered.
"Car trouble. My truck broke down and I know it's too late to call a tow truck. I just wandered down the road and found you guys fighting that thing."
"Glad you were passin' by. We were getting our asses handed to us."
"Since you're here, you can camp with us!" Prompto jubilates.
Ira nods, "I'd like that."
The five got in the Regalia and Ignis drove to the nearest haven. Once safely parked and camp was set up, Ignis prepared a small meal due to how late it was. As he cooked, Noctis and Prompto asked myriads of questions about her week-long hunt. By the time she finished fulfilling their curiosity, Ignis passed out dinner and they ate.
After dinner, the only two who were up were Ignis and Ira. She had offered to help clean up and he gladly accepted her assistance. With the cleaning done, the duo sat in front of the dying fire. Ira crossed her legs and leaned back in her chair, listening to the crackling of the wood.
"Ira, there is something I must confess," Ignis said out of the blue.
The girl turned her head, eyes trained on the strategist. "Whatever it is, you can tell me. You usually aren't one for confessions."
"I do not wish to push anything on you."
Ira leaned forward, placing her hands in her lap. "Oh, please. I've known you for four years. There's nothing you can push on me that I can't handle."
Ignis took a deep breath before confessing what had been gnawing at him for years. Meeting her gaze, he finally spilled his feelings. "I cherish you above anything and anyone else in my life, Ira."
The young woman visibility stiffened at his words. Her heart raced within her chest, threatening to burst out in joy. Her eyes widened, disbelief filling her mind. "I-I'm sorry, Iggy. Could you repeat that? I think my hearing's finally gone."
The advisor grinned slightly, "I cannot say it enough-I love you more than anything."
Ira now knew her hearing was perfectly fine. She placed a hand over her racing heart, hoping it would slow down. She heaved a deep sigh to calm herself and prevent embarrassing herself in front of the man she loved. "I love you, too, Ignis. All those times we spent together, I cherish. I'm glad I was able to meet someone like you and fall in love without being judged or ridiculed for my powers."
Ignis stood from his seat and made his way over to her. He kneeled in front of her and took her hands in his gloved ones. "No such thing will ever transpire again, my dear."
Ira curled her fingers around his, staring into his emerald eyes. "Thank you, Ignis." She leaned forward and pressed her lips against his in a gentle kiss.
-Next Morning-
Rising right after Ignis, Ira exited the tent and was greeted by the smell of breakfast. Ignis exchanged a hearty "good morning" while Ira's was meek and soft. Her cheeks were burning red as she remembered his proclamation of love last night and how they exchanged their first kiss. The image was burnt into her mind, which was the cause for most of her embarrassment.
Then, Prompto and Gladio emerged from the tent and took note of Ira's red cheeks. The two picked up on the situation and grinned from ear to ear. "So, what happened last night?" The blonde asked as he sidled up to Ira.
"N-Nothing..." She snappily responds.
"Uh-huh, sure. Keep tellin' yourself that," Gladio chuckled.
Ira's shoulders met her ears as she stepped away from the two boys. She turned her head and stared off in the distance to avoid their gazes. Prompto huffed with laughter before sitting down next to Gladio.
When Noctis emerged from the tent an hour later, he stared at her still red cheeks. "You sick, Ira?"
She placed her hands over her cheeks, hiding the red. "N-No!" All three started teasing her while Ignis just smiled. After a round of teasing, they grew tired of it for the moment and decided to eat. During breakfast, Ira peered at Ignis from the corner of her eye. "I blame you..."
"I take all blame, my love," he chuckled.
"Gods... They're gonna tease me all day and I'm gonna die of embarrassment..."
"I won't allow such behavior."
She smiled sweetly at him. "Please, keep your word or I'll crawl into the darkest corner farthest away from all of you."
"I am a man of my word," he responds confidently.
Ira's smile widened, "I know you are."
