~(Y/n)'s POV~
Separated from Noctis, Prompto, and Gladio-Ignis and I run through the imperial base to reach the surface. The two of us had been forced to retreat while the others went to distract the soldiers and magiteks.
Maneuvering the myriads of underground pathways, we desperately searched for a way to the surface and find an exit. Finding a single ladder, we left the underground facility and was greeted by the harsh rays of the sun.
"Ignis, the front entrance isn't guarded. We should-" He suddenly grabbed me and we both rolled to the side. Looking where we were once standing, a MA-X Cuirass took our place. Looming over my body protectively, Ignis leaned down and whispered in my ear. "Trust me, my dear."
"Trust you with what?" My question was left unanswered as I was blinded by a brilliant light. I shut my eyes tightly, waiting for the strange luminescence to pass. Once it did, I opened my eyes to see a dragon had taken Ignis' place. My once shut eyes were now wide as saucers. "I-Ignis?"
I was in utter shock and couldn't move a muscle. Fear had taken over my body and I couldn't rid myself of its grip even if I kept telling myself the dragon looming over me was the love of my life.
Soldiers and magiteks swarmed around us, weapons at the ready. Without even a sound, Ignis grabbed my body and took off to the sky above, knocking the MA-X Cuirass with his tail. As the wind whipped my (h/c) hair, I had glanced down at the ground to see how far it was. When I realized how high up we were, my entire body shook with fear. Ignis felt my shaking body and glanced down at me as he flew. Seeing my expression, the man landed immediately and released me from his grip. I scrambled away as he transformed into his normal self.
"(Y/n), I must-"
"How long?" I ask, silencing him.
After a pregnant pause, he answers my question. "Since the beginning."
"We've been dating for five years, Iggy. Why didn't you tell me?" I inquire, feeling tears surface in my eyes.
"It is not a subject to be brought up in a casual conversation."
"I know it isn't something to take lightly, but you still could've made time and told me. If you're able to transform, are the others able to, as well?"
"Yes," he answers sorrowfully. Ignis took a step towards me, but I took a single one back.
I placed a hand over my heart. "I... I need to be alone for awhile. I'll meet back up with you all in Hammerhead."
"(Y/n), I-yes, of course. Do be cautious," he said with a wounded voice. I turn and walk off into the distance, determined to clear my head.
~3rd Person POV~
Ignis watched with sorrowful emerald eyes as (Y/n) walked away and out of his line of sight. He knew he should've told her earlier, but he decided against it. Now, he regretted his decision. He clenched his fist, the sorrow being overwritten by anger towards himself.
With (Y/n) gone, the tactician walked all the way to Hammerhead to join the others. When they spotted him, confusion was written on their faces when they saw he was alone. "Specs, where's (Y/n)?"
"She... has decided to take a stroll."
Prompto gasped, "Did she figure out?"
"Yes, and she has wished for privacy."
"Wait, you didn't tell her earlier? I thought you would've told her the first year you guys were dating," Gladio said.
"I decided to keep our secret under lock and key. Now, I regret keeping my lips sealed."
"She probably thinks you don't trust her. Five long years and you didn't trust her with your biggest secret. Anyone would be hurt by that," Noctis stated.
"I've wounded her to the point I may lose her forever," Ignis melancholically said.
"Just give her some time, Iggy. I seriously doubt you'll lose her. (Y/n)'s not that kind of girl," Gladio said in reassurance.
"Yeah! You've been through everything together. She'll be back before you know it!" Prompto cheers.
Another dejected sigh escaped Ignis as he nodded his head. No one wanted to leave Hammerhead until (Y/n) was back, resulting in the group renting out the caravan for the night.
As the sky above fell into despair, a few trickles of rain poured down upon the boys. Everyone went into the caravan for shelter whilst the advisor pulled a chair from the rain and into a dry area just next to the door.
Ignis' eyes skimmed all of his surroundings, praying to at least see (Y/n) making her way down the road and to the safety of Hammerhead from the brewing storm above.
Hours passed and the rain was relentless. The worry inside Ignis was consuming every fiber of his being and he decided to call (Y/n). When she didn't answer, he felt his heart shatter into millions of pieces within him.
"Iggy?" A feminine voice softly called him. Turning to his left, he was greeted by (Y/n). She tilted her head to side, confused as to why he was standing out in the heavy rain. "What're you doing out in the rain?"
Taking in her appearance, Ignis realized she was drenched to the bone and shivering. When he took a step towards her, he saw how she didn't recoil. He placed his hands on her arms, trying to warm her up. "You're freezing, (Y/n). Let's get you inside."
Safely out of the rain, Ignis guides (Y/n) to the larger bed in the back and sat her down on the edge of the sheets. Prompto gave Ignis a towel to dry off the shivering girl. Gently, he placed the soft fabric on her head and began drying her (h/c) hair.
After her hair was dry, he moved on to her arms and legs. When he saw her clothes weren't drying properly, he placed the towel aside. "For now, you must warm up. A shower will do you well."
"Y-Yeah, but I don't have any spare clothes. I left them in the Regalia. What am I supposed to sleep in?"
"You may borrow a shirt from me."
"A-Alright..."
(Y/n) got up and headed to the small shower. Hearing the shower start, Gladio sent Ignis a grin. "Told ya."
Ignoring his gloating, Ignis waited for (Y/n) to finish her shower by drying himself off and changing his own attire. Once she was done, he handed her a towel and one of his shirts through the small crack she had made in the door. (Y/n) exited the small shower wearing one of Ignis' dress shirts. Due to her short stature, it reached just above her knees. "That was exactly what I needed. Thank you for letting me borrow a shirt, Iggy."
"Of course, my dear." He sat down on the foot of the bed.
Following suit, (Y/n) sat next to him and placed a hand over his. "Earlier, I overreacted. I can't believe it took me four hours to realize that. I'm more mad at myself than anyone else. I know I'm nosy and stubborn, but it is your decision to whether tell me your secret or not. Now I know why you did."
"It is unnecessary to apologize, (Y/n)."
"But I want to. I love you and you are entitled to your own secrets. I've no need to pry into every little secret you have."
"'Little' is not the word I would use to depict this secret," Ignis chuckled, turning his hand over and entwining his fingers with hers.
"Trust me, I'm sure you have a much bigger secret than being able to transform into a dragon."
"Oh? And what, pray tell, would that be?"
"A secret addiction that I have no idea about besides ebony."
Another chuckle erupted from the advisor. He leaned his forehead against hers and stared into her (e/c) eyes. "You will have to investigate yourself, my love."
"I look forward to the mystery," (Y/n) giggles, pecking him on the lips.
"This is cute and all, but can you guys not make out in front of us lonely guys?" Prompto huffed.
(Y/n) sent the blonde a smirk. "No promises."
