218) Noctis

A/n: A request from alejandraC2003. This is a crossover with Tomb Raider. It's been awhile since I played a game within this series and I hope I don't mess things up.

Note: I am making another series of one shots with the boys for Kingdom Hearts and Assassin's Creed.

Fun fact about me: I'm actually getting a degree in anthropology and wish to become an archaeologist myself!

Love you all!!!

~3rd Person POV~

"(Y/n), we can't stop!" Lara shouts at her younger sister.

"We can't leave him here!" The younger sister bellows in protest as she slid on her knees next to a boy who was unconscious.

"We need to find the others and get off this bloody island! We'll die if we stop now!"

"What if this was Samantha or Conrad?! Would you leave them?! I know we need to leave Yamatai, but we need to save as many lives as possible!"

"We don't even know him!"

"Who cares?! I seriously doubt he works for the Solarii. He needs first aid. If you want to push forward, go without me! I'm not leaving anyone behind."

Lara knew (Y/n) was right and kneeled next to her sister. "You're right. Let's find a place to rest for awhile. We both could benefit from that."

(Y/n) thanks her sister and slings one of the boy's arms around her shoulder. With help from Lara, the siblings were able to find a small alcove near the bluffs and tend to the strange boy.

While (Y/n) tended to a gash on his head, Lara examined him closely. "I don't remember him being on the Endurance."

"There were people below deck that we didn't meet. He could've been one of them," (Y/n) states.

"I'm going to search the area and make sure it's clear. If I'm not back within the hour, you must leave," Lara said, slinging her bow across her back.

"Like hell I'm going to leave you, but I know not to pick a fight right now. Neither of us would get anywhere," (Y/n) laughs.

"We are our father's daughters. Stubbornness runs in our blood." Lara leaves her sister with a smile.

(Y/n) knew the ground was rocky and decided to let the boy rest his head in her lap. She ran her hands through his hair, noticing how tense he had grown in his unconscious state. Her ministrations relaxed the boy, causing his breathing to return to normal and his muscles to relax.

After fifteen minutes pass, a groan escaped the boy as his eyes fluttered open. (Y/n) smiled as her (e/c) eyes met with his piercing azure ones. "How're you feeling?"

"A massive headache," he simply replied.

"Not surprised. You must've fell a great distance. I've patched up the gash on your head. Sadly, I don't have pain medicine on me for your headache. Do you remember your name?"

"Uh... Noctis."

"Good, that's a promising start. Do you know where you are?"

"Um, no. Last I remember, I was with my friends."

"We're on Yamatai-an island off the coast of Japan that's located in the Dragon's Triangle. My sister and I are trying to find a way out of here. We found you collapsed near the bluffs."

"Can I have a name?" Noctis asked.

"(Y/n). My sister, Lara, left to scout the area. If she's not back in forty-five minutes, we must leave."

Noctis tried to sit up, but he ended up collapsing back into (Y/n)'s lap when a rush of pain shot through his head. Another groan left him as he closed eyes and placed a hand against his throbbing head. "You should rest for a few more minutes and let the pain subside before moving, Noctis," (Y/n) states.

When he heeded her words, he laughed a little. "You sound exactly like someone I know."

"And who's that?" She asked curiously.

"Ignis. You even have the same accent as him."

(Y/n) smiled and giggled. "I'll take that as a compliment."

Noctis couldn't help but smile when he heard her melodious laugh. He knew by her words that he was no longer on Eos, but he decided to keep that information a secret. As he rested, (Y/n) explained all that happened and how many of her friends were dead or captured by the Solarii Brotherhood. Due to her hands gliding through his raven locks, Noctis was completely relaxed and his pain was finally fading.

With a helping hand from the kind and caring girl, Noctis was back on his feet. (Y/n) stood next to him and stretched her arms and legs. "We'll leave in ten minutes if Lara's not back."

"You're just gonna leave your sister?" Noctis questioned.

"Trust me, she's resilient and it'll take more than an army to take her down. We know where to meet if we get separated." She shuffled over to a bow and a couple of daggers that laid a few feet from the cave's entrance. (Y/n) slung the bow over her shoulder and grabbed the small blades in her hands.

Turning his back towards her, Noctis tried to summon his engine blade, but nothing appeared in his grasp. He tried every weapon in his arsenal, but nothing was materializing when he so desired. Luckily, (Y/n) didn't question him as to what he was trying to do and handed him the daggers. "How good are you with blades?"

With a smirk, Noctis took the small weapons from her. "The best."

(Y/n) snorts at his confidence. "I'll be counting on you to watch my back, Noctis." He nodded and held the blades within his grasp.

Ten minutes flew by and the duo left the cave. With (Y/n) in the lead, they were able to maneuver through the bluffs and further into the island. According to the girl, they would have to make their way to the other side of the island where they would be able to escape Yamatai. Noctis hoped helping (Y/n) escape would be the key to returning to his world.

Pushing through thick foliage, (Y/n) immediately grabbed Noctis and dove behind a tree. Her heavy breathing fell silent, along with his. Listening closely, the duo heard a few men talking. "Find those damned Croft sisters. I want them dead."

The voice rang a bell in (Y/n)'s head. Once she put the voice to a face, her (e/c) widened in utter shock. Noctis noticed, concerned about her sudden paralyzed state. Once they were gone, the boy stared into her shock-filled eyes. "Know him?"

"Mathias. He claimed to be a passenger aboard the Endurance. I should've known he was the leader of this bloody cult."

"What the hell do they want?" Noctis asked.

"To find the Sun Queen's successor. A group of them were talking about the ritual before Lara and I slaughtered them to escape the temple."

"If we kill him, the rituals will have to stop. Without a leader, the cult will be lost."

"I'm not positive, but it could be a step in the right direction," (Y/n) said, accepting Noctis' idea. He couldn't help but smile as she agreed to his dangerous plan. Most people would have turned down his idea, but he felt more than happy to know she trusted him.

In the shadows, the duo follows Mathias and a group of his men to a nearby encampment. Noctis was in awe at the sight and size of the base, his jaw dropping to the ground.

Mathias broke off from his men and headed to a temple upon a hill. (Y/n) groaned in annoyance as he got further and further away, men scattered everywhere and blocking each path. Noctis saw her frustration and placed a hand on her shoulder. She gazed at him, knowing he wanted her to calm down. "Let's find higher ground," she whispers.

Scaling the side of a tall wooden watchtower, they were able to see the entire encampment. (Y/n) took her bow and notched an arrow, aiming for a man who was wandering the camp alone. Releasing the arrow, it hit its mark and impaled his chest. With no sound, he collapsed in the pool of his own blood.

"Nice shot," Noctis compliments.

"The bow is my specialty. Been practicing ever since I was six," she grinned, releasing another arrow and killing a man that was closest to them.

Noctis was drowned in awe as she killed most of the men in silence. He didn't realize (Y/n) was trying to grab his attention until he felt a hand on his arm. "You ready?"

"U-Uh, yeah. Lead the way."

Descending the watchtower, the two make their way up to the temple. Inside, they hid behind pillars to conceal their presence from Mathias and the men who were living in the temple. Noctis took care of a few men while (Y/n) closed in on the leader of the Solarii Brotherhood. Before she could fire, Mathias spun around and charged at her. Shocked at his sudden awareness, (Y/n) was unable to dodge. Noctis took care of the remaining men before he heard a strangled gasp come from (Y/n).

Snapping his body around, his eyes widened in fear at the sight. Mathias had (Y/n) by the throat and her body pinned to a pillar. Noctis quickly took action and dashed toward the man. Luckily, Mathias was too occupied with (Y/n) and failed to notice him. The boy drove a dagger through Mathias' back, piercing his heart in the process. A gurgle escaped the man as blood poured from his back and his mouth.

Losing all his strength, Mathias was forced to free (Y/n). Noctis ignored the dying man as he tried to speak and kneeled next to the girl as she coughed violently. He supported her body in his arms as she regained her breath and rubbed where Mathias had left a red mark on her throat. Seeing her eyes watering, Noctis cupped her cheeks and wiped away the tears. "(Y/n), are you alright?"

"Y-Yeah, just a little dizzy," she stutters with a hoarse tone.

Noctis helped (Y/n) to her feet and kept his arms around her to keep her from collapsing. A sigh of relief escaped the boy as he felt her relax in his embrace. Just then, they heard a voice shouting. Entering the temple was Lara, who was accompanied by a man with blonde hair.

"W-Whitman, you're alive?" (Y/n) asked, bewildered at the sight.

"Thanks to Lara." James' eyes fell onto the corpse of Mathias. "What happened to him?"

"Noctis killed the bastard. Now the brotherhood is without a leader."

"I see... and I assume this young man here is Noctis?"

(Y/n) nods and Lara came running to her side. James walked towards Mathias' corpse and kneeled next to it. Noctis had a bad feeling about James, but he refused to share it with the Croft siblings. Lara snapped him out of his thoughts when he heard her call out to him. "Thank you for helping her."

"You both could've left me to bleed out, but you didn't."

Lara then fell completely silent, guilt written all over her face. "Your thanks should be directed completely towards (Y/n). I insisted on... leaving you." Wide azure irises fell onto (Y/n) at learning the truth. She had been the one to save him, not both sisters. "I've never seen her be so stubborn before, especially with helping a complete stranger."

(Y/n) looked away, completely embarrassed by Lara's words. Noctis felt his heart flutter at her shyness and couldn't help but smile. The sound of thunder rang out, silencing all. Lightning struck nearby, causing everyone to wince at the sudden flash. "The storm's too dangerous to travel in. We'll stay in the temple until it clears up," James said.

"We could use a proper rest ," Lara states, sighing in exhaustion.

"Noctis, may I change your bandage? It seems you've reopened the wound with all the recent action," (Y/n) said.

"Yeah, I didn't even notice," Noctis said. He slowly released her and allowed the girl to steady herself before letting her tend to his wound. He sat on the floor while (Y/n) cleaned the blood and replaced the bandage. Lara and James were searching the temple for any remaining cultists while the two chatted.

After an hour, the four were able to find a way to sleep through the crashing thunder and the blinding lightning.

-Two Days Later-

The storm had yet to cease, flooding the camp that laid down in the valley. Lara had left in the morning to search for more survivors. (Y/n) tried to talk her out of it but Lara refused to listen to her younger sister. Lara ignored the thunder and lightning, departing the temple with her bow resting across her back and a pistol resting on her hip.

During the two days of the storm, Noctis spent most of the time with (Y/n). He stayed close to her ever since James had arrived with Lara. Something about the man convinced Noctis to not let him get any alone time with (Y/n).

James had picked up on Noctis' behavior and took note of the glares the young boy would send him every now and then. He also noticed how protective of (Y/n) he had been ever since he arrived two days ago. For the rest of the day, he stayed away from the silent threats Noctis had sent his way.

-Next Morning-

Noctis had fallen asleep next to (Y/n), who had her head resting on his shoulder. When he felt something in his hand, the boy looked down to see he and her were holding hands in their sleep. He let (Y/n) sleep for a little longer and decided to shut his eyes for a few more minutes.

When those minutes passed, Noctis was awoken by a strange sound. Opening his eyes, he was greeted by a pistol being aimed directly at him. He was not surprised by who was on the other end of the firearm. "Wake her up, now," James demands, gesturing to (Y/n) with his pistol. In silence, Noctis did as he said and woke the sleeping girl.

When she saw the scene before her, she couldn't believe it. "Whitman, what are you doing?"

"Killing both of you. You've already ruined most of my plans by killing Father Mathias. Our leader is lost and now the valleys are flooded."

""Our"? You're working with the Solarii Brotherhood?" (Y/n) questioned with a sharp tone.

"Sorry, (Y/n). I did like you, but you and your sister have caused our plans to go awry. Killing most of our loyal followers is not something I can let slide. Once I've killed you both, I'll find that cursed sister of yours and shoot her in the back."

"We trusted you, you bastard!" (Y/n) snaps, jolting to her feet. James switched his target and pointed the gun at her. Noctis took the chance and got to his feet with a dagger hidden behind his back. He gritted his teeth painfully, wishing he had his warping ability so he could end this without (Y/n) getting hurt.

"(Y/n)," Noctis called out to the girl. She ignored him and pushed forward, intimidating James and causing his hand to shake a little. The archaeologist stumbled backwards as the young woman closed in. Before James could fire, (Y/n) kicked the pistol out of his hand and delivered another blow to his leg. A loud snap was heard as James crumbled to the ground, crying out in pain. "Y-You broke my leg!"

"You sound shocked. I should be the one yelling at you," (Y/n) growls, reaching for her bow and a single arrow. Noctis couldn't believe what was happening. She planned on killing him, but he had no intention of stopping her. James tried to scoot away, but the pain was too immense. (Y/n) aimed the arrow directly at his chest as she took a single step forward. "Join your damned brothers in Hell."

With that, she released the arrow, killing James in an instant. Seeing the man dead eased Noctis, but it was short-lived as (Y/n) picked up another arrow and aimed it at him. "(Y/n), what are you-"

"You're one of them, aren't you? You pretended to be kind just to get on my good side and wait for the perfect moment to kill me."

Noctis was completely bewildered by her accusations. "I'd never do that to you!"

"How can I trust you? I trusted Whitman and look where we are now." Tears streamed down her face as she stood her ground.

"(Y/n)-"

"Answer me!"

Seeing the sorrow in her eyes ripped a hole in Noctis' heart, wounding him on deep levels. He saw her hands were shaking along with her legs. From those signs, he knew she really didn't want to kill him. In silence, Noctis closed the distance between them. With one final step, the boy clutches the iron tip of the arrow in his palm, cutting his hand and causing blood to spill from the new wound. (Y/n) saw the blood and immediately dropped the bow. She slid to her knees, tears refusing to stop. "I-I don't even know who I can trust anymore..."

Noctis tossed the arrow aside before wrapping his arms around (Y/n), making sure his blood didn't soak her clothes. With his uninjured hand, Noctis threaded his fingers into her (h/c) locks and stroked them gently. "You can trust me, (Y/n). I'll always be on your side no matter what comes our way."

(Y/n) clutches onto the front of his shirt, burying her head into his chest. Noctis felt a few tears prick at his eyes seeing her so broken, but he refused to let them fall. He held her close and whispered sweet nothings into her ear.

Once (Y/n) was calm, she raised her head and stared into Noctis' sapphire eyes. "I know it's only been three days, but... thank you for everything, Noctis."

The boy smiled and built up his courage to do something he had wished he had down the night after their long chat. He pressed his lips against hers in a passionate but sweet kiss. (Y/n) immediately reciprocated his feelings and kissed back. With his good hand, Noctis pulled her even closer and deepened the kiss. During their chat, he had spilt all he could about himself and his world. (Y/n) had accepted his words and didn't call him crazy or insane. Most people in her position would've left him for dead or have abandoned him once he spilt the truth. This was the catalyst that his love for her festered into more than just friends.

They pulled away from the intense moment, resting their foreheads against each other's. After a prolonged silence, (Y/n) spoke. "What happens if you find a way home?"

"I... didn't even think of that. Would your sister mind if I stole you from this world?"

"She might mind, but I know she's always wanted me to find someone to be happy with. We might have to drag her along," she laughs.

"Would she mind going to another world?"

"Not at all. That's why we became archaeologists. We live to explore. I'm sure Eos has plenty of ruins to discover."

Noctis smiled at her words and kissed her again. "You've no idea how happy you've made me."

"You said you were a prince in your world. You're not... engaged or anything, right?"

"Hell no."

"Good, because this would've been very awkward," she snorts.

"You're gonna get teased a lot. Forewarning you right now if we do manage to get to my world."

"I'll try my best to prepare for anything, Noctis."
