~3rd Person POV~

"Noct, calm down," Prompto said to the pacing prince.

"How can I? (Y/n)'s been missing for an entire week!" Noctis shouts, his pace increasing as he ran his hands through his raven locks. The door to the prince's room opened, the newest Kingsglaive member entering.

"Your Highness, our search ended in failure," Kaldan states.

Noctis couldn't believe it. He turned to face the man and glared. "Check again."

"But-"

"That's an order!"

Kaldan held back his own glare and left the room. Prompto closed the door and eyed his best friend worriedly. "I'm worried about her, too, buddy. But no one's found a single clue to where she went."

"She hasn't left the city because she always calls me before visiting her brother in Lestallum. She's somewhere in Insomnia and I'm not giving up until she's found, safe and sound."

"We'll find her, buddy. Tomorrow, we'll revisit (Y/n)'s apartment. That's the last place you saw her, right?"

Noctis nods. "Yeah, I dropped her off that night. We ran into each other outside the Citadel and it was late. I decided to walk her home. I... I should've stayed with her."

"It's not your fault, Noct," Prompto tries to reassure the anxious boy. "Let's get some sleep."

"Yeah."

-Next Morning-

Noctis, Prompto, Gladio, and Ignis head to (Y/n)'s apartment early in the morning. With the key she gave him, Noctis opened the door and everyone entered.

"Wow, nice place," Gladio comments.

"Search everywhere. Someone had to have missed something," Noctis said.

"We got Iggy with us this time. If he can't find anything, no one can," Prompto beams.

"We will find a lead," Ignis responds.

"The entire Crownsguard and Kingsglaive are searching for her. Kaldan was the first one to search her apartment. He had to have missed something, I just know it," Noctis said as he scrounged around the small apartment.

"You know her best, Noct. Anything seem out of place to you?" Gladio ponders.

Scanning the living room, the prince only spotted one thing that caught his attention. He walked to the coffee table and picked up the headband he had bought for her a few months ago.

"Doesn't (Y/n) wear this everywhere she goes?" Prompto asked.

"Yeah, she does. Also, she wouldn't leave it on the coffee table," Noctis adds.

"Maybe she was in a rush and left it there," Gladio states.

"Even so, she wouldn't leave it on the coffee table. She's a neat freak and keeps all her things in line."

"A trait one such as yourself could assimilate," Ignis exclaims.

"I'll ignore that. Prom, check the kitchen. Specs, Gladio-check the rest of the living room. I'll search her bedroom."

Splitting up, they search every room in the small apartment. After an hour of scrounging around and moving as little as possible, Ignis had found something in the living room. Calling the others over, he showed them the window. "It's been replaced recently."

"How can you tell from just looking at it?" Gladio wonders.

Carefully, Ignis picked up something from beneath the window. "A shard of glass, but no indication of the window being shattered."

"Do you think Kaldan missed it?" Prompto questioned.

Noctis didn't wait to hear Ignis' reply. He backed away and circled the room in deep thoughtful. He crossed his arms and sat down on the couch. The others stood behind the couch, eyeing the prince closely. After a long silence, Noctis' eyes widened. "Where's Kaldan now?"

"At the Citadel. Why?" Gladio inquired.

Noctis flew to his feet and grabbed the headband. "I should've listened to her! (Y/n) said Kaldan was always trying to get her alone and pushing himself onto her. I thought she was just being paranoid and told her to not worry about it!"

"Noct, calm down! You're starting to hyperventilate," Prompto said.

"Ignis, call the marshal and tell him to arrest Kaldan. He knows where she is," Noctis growls.

"Right away," Ignis responds, pulling out his phone.

"You sure 'bout this?" Gladio asked.

"It's too much of a coincidence! I send him here to check for clues and he comes up empty-handed. It would've provided him the opportunity to replace the window. He's also the only person (Y/n)'s afraid to be around, alone."

"Kaldan has been taken into custody," Ignis informs, sliding his phone back into his pocket.

"Let's hurry back to the Citadel and confront this son of a bitch," the prince snarls.

Arriving back at the Citadel, the boys confront Kaldan with permission from Cor. Entering the room, the four glare at the Kingsglaive member. Kaldan feigns fear as Noctis' glare sharpened. "Where is she?"

"If you're talking about (Y/n), we still have men searching for her. Your Majesty, we won't stop 'til she's found."

Noctis snaps, his eyes turning ruby red and summoning a sword from his arsenal. "I know you have her! Tell me where you're keeping her!"

"I've no idea what you're talking about," Kaldan defends.

Noctis was about to lash out, but Gladio held him back. Ignis stepped forward, eyes trained on the young boy. "For someone who's been accused, you appear quite tranquil."

"My training has paid off well."

Ignis turns and faces the prince. "Has someone investigated those loyal to His Majesty?"

"No, but I'm about to," Noctis said.

"Unnecessary. We shall scour his residence ourselves," Ignis states.

"You can't do that!" Kaldan bellows, slamming a fist into the wall next to him.

"And why not?" Gladio raises a brow.

"You have no right to snoop around in my home!"

Gladio stormed over and grabbed the boy by the collar. "We're checking whether you like it or not. If we find out you're the one behind her disappearance, I'll come back here and kick your ass myself." He releases Kaldan and shoves him away. "Let's go."

Exiting the room, the royal retinue head to the Regalia. "Did you see how he was scratching at his wrist?" Prompto asked.

"An indication his words were fabricated," Ignis answers.

"Just got the address to Kaldan's place from the marshal. It's only about ten minutes from here," Gladio said.

"Hit the gas, Specs," Noctis states.

Without hesitation, Ignis sped to Kaldan's residence. They arrived exactly ten minutes later and hopped out of the car. Gladio kicked the door in, allowing them to enter the small, filthy house. Prompto plugged his nose as he got a whiff of something awful. "Ugh... I feel like I'm gonna puke."

Plowing through the horrid odor, the four search the whole house. While Noctis and Prompto were in the living room, the blonde's foot got caught on something and fell. Luckily, he was able to catch himself before his face had met with the floor. "You okay?" Noctis asked, helping his best friend to his feet.

"Yeah, I tripped over something," he said. Noctis examines the floor, noticing something under the carpet. Kicking the carpet aside, he was able to find a small hatch. He called Gladio and Ignis the the living room as he opened the entrance to a hidden room. Descending the ladder one by one, they were enveloped in darkness. Prompto ran a hand over the walls until his fingers met a light switch. Flipping the lights on, the area was illuminated. Noctis turned around to examine to room but gasped when he saw a familiar person. "(Y/n)!"

The prince rushes over to the bed she was laying on. When he was able to see her clearly, he saw shackles around her ankles, keeping her attached to the bed. The others ran over, noticing her unconscious state. Ignis checked her pulse, noting how faint it was. "She's alive." Ignis' eyes caught a glimpse of a small hole in the side of her neck and recognized where it came from. "He's been sedating her."

"We've gotta get her to the hospital. We've no curatives with us." Noctis tried to break the shackles, but he couldn't budge the metal a single inch. "Dammit! We need to find the key!"

Prompto and Gladio searched the area. When they found nothing, the shield called the marshal. Noctis was confused at why he was calling Cor. After the short conversation, he hung up. "Bastard has the key with him. The marshal's on his way over with it."

Noctis crawls up on the bed, sitting behind her and cradling her body against his. "Have you found her phone?"

"Yeah, but it's broken," Prompto said, showing the shattered device.

"That explains why we weren't able to call or track her," Gladio states.

"I've contacted the paramedics. They will arrive shortly," Ignis informs.

Cor arrived and found the hidden room easily. He unlocked the shackles, freeing (Y/n) from the bed. "His Majesty will be hearing about this. Kaldan's fate will be decided by you." The marshal's gaze fell upon Noctis.

"Why me?" The prince asked.

"It is only proper since you're her partner. Your decision will reflect hers, as well."

"I'll decide later. For now, we need to get her to the hospital." Noctis scooped (Y/n) up in his arms and headed to the ladder. With help from Gladio, they were able to get her body up the ladder and into the ambulance. Noctis rode in the vehicle all the way to the hospital by (Y/n)'s side, holding her hand tightly.

Noctis was forced to remain in the waiting room while the doctors tended to (Y/n). Prompto, Gladio, and Ignis arrived soon after, joining the young prince in the waiting room.

After an hour, the doctor called out to Noctis with good news. "Besides heavy bruising around her ankles, (Y/n) is perfectly fine. Her pulse was weak because of the high levels of sedatives in her body. We've hooked her up to an IV and she'll be ready to head home in a few hours."

Noctis sighs in relief. "That's good to hear. Can we see her?"

"Yes, she's awake but still weary. If she falls asleep while your talking to her, don't be alarmed."

Noctis thanks the doctor after he gives him her room number and rushes down the hall. Prompto, Gladio, and Ignis follow close behind as he swiftly maneuvered through doctors and nurses to reach (Y/n)'s room.

Entering the dimly lit hospital room, Noctis' eyes fell upon (Y/n). She was sitting up, her back resting against a few plush pillows behind her. When her (e/c) eyes met his azure ones, she smiled from ear to ear. In a heartbeat, the prince had climbed up onto the bed and hugged her tightly, nuzzling his nose in the crook of her neck. After Noctis pulled away, he stared into her weary eyes with sorrow. "I should've listened to you. If I had, you wouldn't be here right now."

"Noct, it's not your fault. The only person to blame here is Kaldan," she said, placing an extensive kiss to his cheek.

"But still-"

She placed a finger over his lips to silence him. "No but's about it."

Prompto stood on the other side of the bed next to Ignis as she turned her smile to them. The blonde smiled in relief and decided to ask a question that had been buzzing inside everyone's head. "What exactly happened in your apartment?"

(Y/n) took a deep breath and sighed. "I was in my bedroom when I heard one of my windows break. I went to check to see which one had broken, but that's when I felt a pain in my neck." She ran a hand against her neck, feeling the small indenture of where the same needle had pierced her multiple times. "Then, I lost consciousness."

"The bastard has been sedating you for awhile. He had vials of Ativan in his bedroom," Gladio informs.

"How long have I been missing?" (Y/n) questioned.

"A week," Ignis replies.

She placed a hand against her head, digging her fingers into her (h/c) locks. "I-I remember Kaldan would always inject me with something every time he had to leave."

Noctis gritted his teeth, his hands balled up into fists. Ignis place a hand on the prince's shoulder to clam him down and prevent him from cursing at the top of his lungs. He took a deep breath, calming himself for (Y/n)'s sake. "Did... Did he do anything else to you?"

"N-No..." She whispers, pulling at a strand of her hair.

Noctis knew she was lying and asked the others to leave for a few minutes. Once they were out of earshot, he took her hands in his and held them tightly. "What did he do to you, (Y/n)?"

With a shaky breath, tears began cascading down her cheeks. "H-He kept saying that you gave up on me and tried to touch me every chance he got." Noctis moves his hands to cup her cheeks. She knew what he was going to ask and shook her head. "H-He didn't force himself onto me. All he did was trail his hands up my body while I was drugged."

Noctis was completely relieved, but it still added to his anger. Keeping a level head, he leaned down and sealed her lips with his in a passionate kiss. One hand crept behind her neck so he could deepen the kiss. (Y/n) latched her hands onto his collar, pulling him even closer in a desperate attempt to rid her mind of Kaldan's disgusting touch.

After the intense kiss, the two pulled apart and welcomed air back into their lungs. (Y/n) encircled her arms around Noctis' torso, preventing him from moving. "Could you stay with me until I'm discharged?"

"Wasn't plannin' on leaving even if you begged," he grins. (Y/n) scoots over in the bed, making room for Noctis. He crawls onto the bed next to her and snuggles closely, basking in her warmth and the soft blankets. Once he wraps his arms around (Y/n)'s small frame, the couple was already asleep.
