Before the Caerenth empire existed, the continent was divided into city states three thousand years ago. Legend has it that a terrible shadow dragon once terrorize the continent by spewing it's dark breath to encase any thing in solidified darkness, in which any of its victims were not so lucky when they were reduced to skeletons within the solidified darkness that encased them. One day, a man arrived from a ruined city state to challenge the shadow dragon. It was said that he became the world's first dark knight by fashioning the first dark sword and armor from the solidified darkness that he was encased, not only that, but he generates all his pain and love into destructive dark beams at the cost of his hp (health points).

Each of the leaders from the city states agreed to help him battle the shadow dragon if they were to unite their lands into one, and so they did. The battle against the shadow dragon took three days and three nights, but the first dark knight pooled all his remaining life energy into stabbing the dragon with his dark sword. Not only the shadow dragon dies, but the dark knight ended up joining his nemesis in death at the cost of his victory. Since then, all the city states formed into one empire while the leaders became dark knights in memory of the one who bested the shadow dragon.

It was then that the Caerenth empire was born, due to the first dark knight uniting the entire continent into helping him vanquish the shadow dragon at the cost of his life. The first emperor was selected to rule, and had built the imperial palace in the same area that the battle between the dark knight and the dragon took place. Even the imperials put the corpse of the first dark knight on display in memory, so they'll never forget the sacrifice has made to unite the lands into one empire.

Not only the Caerenth empire was famous for this legend, but it is also famous for the earth crystal that bestowed fertile soil that grew the forests that surrounds the land. Imperial researchers has discovered the black and white waves emanating the earth crystal, in which these energy waves amplifies the black and white magic for the mages to use.

They even discovered a use for the crystal fragments that the earth crystal generates, by using the crystal fragments to record outfits and abilities to invent job classes (although, they weren't the only ones. The nations of where the other crystals began doing the same thing, even the Lunarians made job classes as mentioned in the job class page). It was then the empire established a system where people wanted to try out job classes that either serves the military (dark knights, Scanners, black mages, white mages, etc) or even for civilian uses, at a reasonable price. However, the empire has made a law that only certified individuals are allowed to invent job classes (as mentioned before in the job classes page).

Couple of centuries up until the present day has the empire become technologically advanced through the usage of steam, in which they outfitted pipes to the imperial capital. They even built the Lunar Shrimp and other space vessels by using an ancient space vessel as a base, in which it was found underwater near the bay. That way, they can only travel to the Blue moon to explore and seek answers to its secrets.
