Chapter 7: return to the moon base

"Are you alright, Eric?" Asked Laura.

"I'm fine, but that monster only clawed my costume instead of reaching into me" Eric replied.

He held out the Mascot crystal fragment, and it glowed along with himself. When the glow died down, his costume is good as new.

"Wow... I didn't know it can do that" said Siegfried.

"If the outfit of a job class is torn or ripped apart, simply hold the crystal fragment and it will repair the outfit" explained Fusoya.

Siegfried struggled to get up, he felt his entire body going numb from the coldness after being frozen. He barely felt the floor from his bare feet nor his hands, then he felt his nose running before shivering. Sonya helped him up, and yet she felt his body being ice cold and clammy.

"I don't want to wind up getting sick from this, but lucky for you, I packed some cold medicine just in case" she said.

"I w-wish I h-haven't acquired the s-scrubber job c-class, I'm v-very vulnerable t-to c-cold temperatures" he stuttered before sneezing out globs of mucus.

Sonya reacts with disgust, and then she reached into her bag and pilled out some pills for his sickness. He put the pills in his mouth and conjured water as well, for him to swallow the pills. She helps him walk, but she already know that his legs were still stiff from being frozen.

While the team are still busy helping Siegfried, Fusoya bent down to the unconscious Wendigo. He studied the monster from head to toe, until he discovered that Wendigo wasn't just a powerful monster at all. Tears started to run down his cheeks as he learned that the monster the team had fought earlier was, in fact, a mutated Lunarian. He wiped away his tears, before coming to the team to tell them what he had discovered.

"Everyone, I would like your attention please" he said.

"Not now, old man. Siegfried is coming down with a head cold" said Laura.

"I know, but... listen. Its important" he said.

The team looked at him as he begin to tell them about Wendigo, and they were all surprised.

"So this creature... was a member of your kind?" Said Eric as he is feeling guilty.

"A mutated Lunarian! Why can't I see this before!?" Siegfried sarcastically wonders, he's still bitter that the monster had frozen him in ice while giving him a head cold.

"You didn't know, until I told you. Whatever happened to this Lunarian that made him the way he is, I feared that there is a sinister force down beneath the Blue moon" Fusoya coldly replied, feeling sorry for what happened to Wendigo.

"If my theory is relevant, then it appears that the Wendigo we had just earlier is brainwashed as well as being mutated at the same time" explained Laura.

The team and the old Lunarian sage paused and looked at her, realizing she maybe correct.

"You may be on to something, Laura" said Sonya.

"But how can we be sure if the monster is brainwashed? He would've served his so called "master" willingly" questioned Eric.

Fusoya told the team that he had scattered the crystal fragments, save the other two, as a means of keeping the crystal fragments safe. There's a chance that the people working for the Moon Base would find the crystal fragments, and then study on them.

"So you want us to find the other crystal fragments?" Asked Siegfried.

"If you want, but there's a chance that some explorer has discovered it first" replied Fusoya.

"But what about the eight Lunarian crystals?" Asked Eric.

"If that sinister force is after these, then there's no doubt that the other crystals from the Blue Planet will be in danger" explained Fusoya.

With that said, the old Lunarian sage casts teleport (in the first game, the teleport spell is classified as black magic. However, final fantasy three and four categorized it as white magic, but final fantasy five categorized it as time magic) to teleport the team out of the Crystal Palace, and send them back to the Moon Base in order to warn the people.

At the Moon Base

The team appeared within the Moon Base, determined to protect the crystals of their world. They saw the director issuing orders to the researchers, to investigate the mysterious "shooting stars" that landed near the Moon Base.

"- and be sure to take precautions, we don't know if they are dangerous" added Director Fiona.

With that said, the researchers left. Then she saw the team, unable to recognize them. The team told her that they're the same team she had met yesterday, and they had to change their classes.

"I see, and you've been to the Crystal Palace down south from here?" She asked.

"Yes, we've met an old Lunarian sage named Fusoya who showed us the eight Lunar crystals. When Laura and Eric changed their job classes to try out the crystal fragments the Lunarians had made, we were attacked by a monster named Wendigo. After we had defeated him, the Lunarian sage told us that Wendigo is actually a mutated Lunarian. Then he told us that not only the eight Lunar Crystals are in danger, but our worlds as well!" Explained Siegfried.

Director Fiona was astonished at this, at first she thought it was just a fabricated story, but what Siegfried told her is very real.

"That sounds... troublesome. If what you said is true, then the Moon Base might be in jeopardy. I might issue a mission for adventurers to go to the Crystal palace, and to protect the Lunar crystals" She said.

The team was shocked that the director actually believed them, they also told her that the "shooting stars" that landed near the Moon Base is actually crystal fragments that the old Lunarian sage had scattered.

"That may be, but first of all, this Scrubber is coming down with a head cold! Either take him to the medical ward or go back to our world, we can't have him infect everyone here in the Moon base!" Director Fiona scolded.

With that said, the team turned around and walk through the Moon Base. However, they saw two crystal fragments on the ground. The one with a crescent moon symbol it is on looked familiar while the one with a fan symbol wasn't, so Siegfried and Sonya picked up the two crystal fragments and store them in their bags. They wondered if Fusoya sent those two crystal fragments to them as a parting gift, nevertheless they continued walking to where the Lunar shrimp is located.

Authors note: how was the reveal? The team is going back to their world to warn the Empire as well as the other nations about the upcoming danger, but will the leaders believe them?
