Chapter 18: prisoner

Meanwhile

Deep within the depths of the Lunar subterraine lies the Lunar core, and it's what keeps the Blue moon itself in orbit. Far below the core, at the bottom, is the Chamber of sleep where all of the Lunarians are hibernating in. Arnos teleported into the entrance, and toss Sonya into the Chamber of sleep.

"You are to remain here until your acquaintances arrived with the crystals. If you try to leave here, my minions won't be merciful" said Arnos.

"Just how long am I to be your hostage?" Sonya asked as she felt hate for that evil Lunarian.

"Until your friends arrive with the crystals, don't make me say it again!" He yelled.

She watched as he left the Chamber of sleep before sealing the entrance, she got up and look around here surroundings. Behind her is numerous pods that each contain a Lunarian, so she looked at each pod. The pods share a simplistic design where the Lunarians are laying on their backs as they sleep, and even the pod lids are solid glass so she can see the inside. She walked row after row, and she can see every man and woman dressed in the finest clothing she has ever seen. She also noticed that each Lunarian has a different shade of blue hair: robin egg blue, cyan, deep blue, navy blue, and baby blue. Then she heard a man's voice coming from nowhere, she looked around and saw nothing but pods.

"Lady from the blue planet, I can help you" said the man's voice.

"Where are you?" She asked.

"I am located in the northwestern row, but if you can't find me, follow the sound of my humming" the man's voice answered.

She followed the humming sound coming from the northwestern row, until it got loud and clear. She looked down and saw a Lunarian man no older than in his twenties laying in a pod sleeping, he has pink skin, cerulean blue hair, but his beanie hat he is wearing obscures his eyes. Upon further inspection, she can see that he is wearing a white shirt with short sleeves, light blue sirwal but without any footwear. She tapped on the glass to see if there's a reaction, then Lunarian man jolted awake but he hit his head against the glass. She can hear him yell in pain, and watched him placing his hand on his head. She wanted to cast cure to heal him, until she saw him looking at her. His mouth quivered before forming some words, she couldn't hear him but she can make out the words forming from his mouth.

"Open the lid" He was trying to say.

She checked around the pod to find a button that can make the glass lid open, until she found a purple button. When she pressed it, the pod let out some steam and it's glass lid opens. The Lunarian man slowly sat up, breathing heavily as he looked at her.

"Thank... you..." He said in a weak voice, then he grunt in pain as he placed both hands on his head.

"What's wrong?" She asked.

He pulled his beanie hat off, showing that he has long hair bangs that slightly expose his eyes, and lifted his bangs up. She can see a dark bruise on his head, showing the area on where he hit his head. She casted the cure spell to heal the area, until the bruise disappeared. After that, the Lunarian man stared at her with his blood shot blue eyes, and she can see madness in his eyes. He grinned as he clutched his head, as if he was fighting off the madness.

"W-what going on? You're scaring me!" She said in a frightened tone.

"Cryo madness... It's when a Lunarian was in hibernation... for too long. They go crazy the moment they are awake, but I struggled to stay sane" he explained as he giggled, trying not to laugh because he doesn't want to scare her.

She maybe a white mage (experts of healing and support magic), but not even her magic can heal broken and damaged minds since white magic can only heal physical wounds. Fortunately, she did learn how to make insane people calm by having them look into her eyes.

"Now, sir. Look into my eyes, and take a deep breath. Try to relax, but don't give into madness" she said.

The Lunarian man lifted up his bangs for him to stare into her eyes, and his breathing from hyperventilating to relaxed. He started to feel calm as he keep staring into her eyes, before moving his legs and sit at the edge of his pod. She can hear his knees pop since his legs were unused for who knows how long, and she watched as moisture started to drip from his hair, hands, and his bare feet. She sat next to him, not caring if she got her white robe wet from the moisture in the pod.

"So, what's your name?" She asked.

"Grus" he replied.

"My name is Sonya, and as you can see, I am a white mage from the blue planet" she introduced.

"Heh, the blue planet. My people wanted to colonize it, but we have to go into hibernation until the day that your kind can coexist with us. Unfortunately, Arnos wanted to wipe out humans just so we'll colonize. We had to put him in stasis, but I guess that didn't work" Grus explained.

"I know, he explained to me and my team. He even just kidnapped me and held me hostage here, but now I know where the Lunarians are sleeping" she said as she started to feel down.

"I may not have a job class, but I can still cast magic" he said.

Then he got off his pod and struggled to stand up, with his legs wobbling since they're unused. She helped him walk by providing support, but she felt his skin being warm yet wet from the moisture.

"I have a question: why are you barefoot?" She asked.

"Heh, you sound like my mom. The reason why I'm barefoot is, I once had shoes but I wanted to feel beneath my feet" he replied.

"Ha! You sounded like Siegfried, my team leader!" She chuckled.

He was confused on who she had mentioned, but he felt his legs stiff as he walked in order to regain strength. He went to the crate that was at the other side of the chamber, and used what strength he has in his arms to open it. He managed to tear it open, and inside of the crates, are crystal fragments.

"Crystal fragments?" She said puzzled.

"Yeah, I am one of those who can invent job classes and store them into these crystal fragments. Some of these are the original twelve job classes that are in the palace, since the ones there are copies. There's more job classes in this crate, those are the ones I worked on" he explained.

Authors note: what do you think of the introduction of Grus the Lunarian?
