(FFXV) The Dragon and the Prince 2
Noctis had finally managed to climb up and into the ship. He silently slipped inside, seeing the dragon in the cargo hold. She was bound by chains that wrapped around the entirety of her body and had numerous spears lodged in her hide. She seemed to be resting, her side steadily rising and falling with each breath she took. Noctis slowly approached her. Lunae's eyes snapped open upon hearing footsteps. Her glowing blue orbs locked onto the prince and she bared her fangs, snarling.
"Easy now," he said, steadily moving closer with his hands up defensively. "I'm not gonna hurt you. I want to help."
Her growls died down and she watched him carefully come closer. Lunae was hesitant to trust a human, but she didn't have many options at the moment. Noctis looked over her appearance, noticing she looked much like the other dragon in build. The main difference was that she was a bit smaller and much slimmer. Noctis looked at the spears, knowing they'd probably hinder her.
"How about I get those spears out."
Lunae didn't react, she only laid there, watching and waiting. Noctis went to the first spear embedded in her neck. He glanced at her face and lightly rubbed her scaly skin. Not seeing any signs of hostility from her, he gripped onto the spear and yanked it out in one swift movement. Lunae hissed and flinched in pain, but she didn't growl or try to snap at him. She allowed him to pull every spear from her body.
"There," the prince said, having successfully removed every spear. "That should feel better now, huh."
"Yes..." a deep, feminine voice rumbled from the dragon's throat. "Thank you..."
Noctis blinked in surprise. "Y-You can talk?"
She nodded slightly under the chains. Though she could understand human speech, it was a struggle to mimic it. Noctis got to work on removing the chains keeping her in place. Once they were off, she still laid there, her bleeding wounds stinging. Noctis stared at her.
"So, you can understand me then?" he asked.
Lunae nodded. "Understand... and mimic... speech..." she said. "My name... Lunae..."
The prince smiled and patted her neck. "I'm Noctis. Do you happen to know that red dragon that's been flying around?"
She nodded. "My mate... Volcanus..."
"Ah. Well how's about we get outta here then. My friends must be looking for me and I know Volcanus is scouring Lucis for you."
Lunae rose to her feet. In that instant, a magitek trooper entered the room, making its rounds and checking on the captive beast. Lunae snarled and lunged at it, snapping it up and crushing it in her jaws. An alarm in the room went off, alerting the other troops of the outbreak. The dragon rushed to the large door that led outside, ramming against it and denting it. MT's flooded into the room. Noctis held them off while Lunae broke the door down.
Once the door fell away, the beast was out of breath and her wounds bled profusely. She looked back at the prince, giving a small roar to get his attention. He quickly warped to her and climbed onto her back. Lunae whipped her tail around, knocking away the pursuing magiteks. She then leapt right out and into the night sky, unfurling her wings and taking flight. Gripping onto the spines of her back, Noctis could feel the power within each flap of her vast wings. But he could also feel her every breath. She panted as she flew, her wounds tiring her.
Noctis glanced back at the sounds of engines. "Incoming!"
Lunae glanced back. Two magitek engines were following her. She grumbled to herself. She was normally a fast flier, but her injuries slowed her way down. But she knew she could still outmaneuver them, especially at night where she blended in. She darted up and looped around through the air, landing on top of one of the ships. Noctis held on tight so he wouldn't fall off. The dragon poked her head down into the small ship. There were rows of dormant MT's inside. Taking a deep breath, Lunae spewed black fire inside. She then flew off, the ship exploding behind her.
Unfortunately, the other magitek engine fired at her at that moment. She managed to weave out of the way, but collided into the branches of a tall tree. Noctis flew off her back as she tumbled through the trees and skidded across the ground. The prince warped safely to the ground. He hurried to the fallen creature, lightly touching her snout. She breathed heavily, her blue eyes gazing at him.
"Lunae, are you okay?" he asked in a panic.
She lifted her head. "Fine... thanks to... Noc... tis..."
He signed with relief. "No sweat. Happy to help. At least we lost that magitek engine. I'm afraid I don't have a potion with me right now and I don't think you should go near any outposts. Do you think you'll be alright here until morning?"
She nodded. "Injured... I can... take care... I... wait here... Haven... nearby..."
"Alright, I'll head to the nearest outpost and grab a potion. I'll be back in the morning."
He left the dragon and walked out to the nearest outpost, which was Wiz Chocobo Post. He bought a few potions when he heard his phone ring.
He answered it, "Ignis."
"Good. You're safe. What happened?"
"I freed the dragon and now I'm at the Chocobo Post."
"Stay put, we'll be there in the morning."
"Will do."
Noctis stayed at the caravan and bought himself a meal for the night. He was anxious to return to Lunae and give her a potion. He hadn't expected such a ferocious creature to be so kind. His love for animals really showed in his desire to aid the beast. He knew that tomorrow, he'd meet up with his friends and help Lunae.
