Story twenty nine: Sleeping Angel 💤 (2016)

Warrior of Light's POV...
✨✨✨

The road was smooth and the moon was full. The stars glimmered and not a peep was heard.

That very night, important members of Theatrhythm university had to attend a meeting in a faraway headquarters. At the moment, we were just returning to our beloved university, with one of the head guards driving us in his jet black limousine.

The female riding next to me was the one and only, Lightning Farron. Her rose colored hair spilled over the leather seat as she leaned her head back. Her striking blue orbs were almost barely visible as she kept her eyes half open. Lightning slowly blinked, with the streetlights shining through the windows reflecting in the center of her pupils.

Lightning was obviously tired from the unexpectedly long meeting. I could not blame her though. I too, was practically having a furious battle with my eyelids as they faught to collapse and send me into a world of dreams.

Staring at Lightning though, had somehow kept me awake... As if I did not want to miss a single slow blink of hers. Her beauty had suddenly captured my attention in the low lighting inside the limo. My eyes wandered every detail of her flawless face, yet I could just barely see it. Not once did I even dare to look away.

That is until...she actually glanced in my direction.

"My pardons. I was just taking notice of how tired you appear to be," I quietly spoke to the female in a slight apologetic tone, shifting my gaze elsewhere before looking right back at her again.

Lightning ever so slightly smirked at my words, exhaling a breathy chuckle. "That meeting was as long as heck. Of course I feel like passing out, right here and now," she replied, turning her head more towards me, her rose hair bangs falling in front of her eyes as she did so. "I'm trying to stay awake though. Girls aren't allowed to fall asleep on the road."

I raised an eyebrow. "Says who?"

"Says Mog. That Moogle."

I pursed my lips only a tad as I thought about what Lightning had told me. Why would Mog say such a thing if he wasn't even a female himself? Overall, I just did not think it was a fair statement.

"Well..." I began, reaching my gloved hand to place it upon Lightning's warm lap. "...as the Warrior of Light, you are granted my permission to rest anywhere at anytime. Just as long as it is not during a bad situation." Sincerely smiling at my comrade, I scooted a bit closer to Lightning, despite the resistance of my seatbelt holding me back. I gestured downwards, letting her know it was more than fine if she wished to lean on me.

Lightning's lips parted for a mere second, but quickly turned into a gentle smile. She scooted closer to me as well, softly resting her head on my shoulder. My armor clinked while she rubbed against me, getting her head in a comfortable position, I assumed.

I leaned my head upon Lightning's, with that silver hair of mine colliding with hers. I allowed my hand to wander around Lightning's waist and we rode the rest of the ride in silence. Aware that it would be quite a while until we reached our destination, I let all my worries melt away and just focussed on Lightning's steady breathing.

In my eyes... she was an absolute sleeping angel that night. One night I will surely hold dearly to this warrior's heart. ❤
