The moment my feet touched the dirty cement ground, there was a jolt of surprise and despair running up my spine.

I was in a daze as the horrid sounds reached my sensitive ears. The sound of humming machines, screeching tires and people, so much talking. "Hey, what? I did not leave the oven on" "yes, kids are in school--" "-of course, I love him dad-" "uh, no, can't come, I'm sick" "yes, I spoke to the manager already" "oh your aunt died? That's horrible. Truly."

So much noise.

Frozen on the pavement, I was pulled out of the sea of voices when the smells of ruined oxygen attacked my nose. I pulled the hem of my dark shirt over my nose, staring at Pietro petrified.

Even thought when I was in base, I was usually locked up behind four walls, but at least there was silence.
Now that I'm free to do what I want and go where I want, I feel as if I'm suffocating on ruined air and drowning in everyone's voices.

Seeing my rigid posture and alarmed expression, Pietros grin was swept off his pale face.
He cleared his throat and took a step closer.

In my space. It's my space, mine.

I flash my eyes at him, giving him a warning growl that I didn't realize I was doing until I heard the low sound vibrating through my chest. Pietro halted, raising his hands and chuckling nervously. "I didn't think of that." he cleared his throat, lowering his hands slightly as he kept close eye on my stiff form.

"You know, just, ignore it hey? I guess it wasn't the best idea to introduce you to city life in a dark alley between stinking dumpsters." Pietro mumbled the last part, looking quite lost.

"okay, it's fine. Look, mate. Just block it out. I believe back in Hydra you were taught to analyze everything, am I right or am I right, hey, focus here mister!" he snapped his fingers, I flickered my eyes to him from the woman who was standing on the other side of the street yelling at an old man for having stumbled into her.

"Good, now, listen to me and only me. I think your senses are stronger than mine, so I'm going blindly into this. You just have to adjust. Don't let it overwhelm you, we don't want you to suddenly go all killing spree because that wouldn't be nice now would it?" I shook my head, still frozen on spot and staring at him wide eyed.

Focus on Pietro. Only on Pietro.

"good, dull it out. Ignore the chatter, the smell? I can't do anything about. But the noise, isn't that hard to ignore if you have chosen one object to focus on. I did it a lot back in Germany, when I got tired of listening the white coats I simply focused on the humming of one machine or sound of rain against window. And then I suddenly didn't hear their boring theories. Now, take your hands off your ears alright? And come with me. You gotta get used to this." He said, pointing at covered ears, I slowly removed my hands, not even realizing I had covered my ears with them.

I followed Pietro, gritting my teeth as I kept close to the Speedster. "Alright, I think you need some food. And considering I haven't had anything for quite awhile, we could both use a decent, heavy meal! Don't tell your parents that, everyone says that morning should start off with light meal, but hey, you're growing organism, you need your protein. Ah, what do you think of this diner? Doesn't seem to have many people in there, opened just recently and what do you say, they got some pasta polognese. Come dude, I got some cash from that guy who just walked past us two blocks back, his wallet was in his jeans pocket, pretty stupid if you ask me. Probably not local." On the brink of losing nerves, I followed Pietro into the dim lit diner, as he called it.

The moment the velvet coloured door closed behind us, I felt my back muscles relax slightly. The noise wasnt that bad here and the smells were different. Lots of... Spices and other kinds of smells I couldn't identify, all I knew was that those smells made my mouth water. Pietro grabbed me from my hood and pulled me with him. "Stop drooling and sit down, I'll take our orders, and remember, don't kill anyone simply because you don't like them. I'll be back in a second." he said pushing me in a soft seat in one of the corner tables.

I tried to get my breathing even as a he left, leaving me to my thoughts.

I looked up, silently observing the room. It was small, but cozy. I could feel my face flush due to how warm it was, or maybe it was adrenaline, I couldn't tell.

There were two old people, reading something and drinking coffee.
A table where there were chattering three people, two boys and one girl. I realized they looked to be about my age, interacting with each other as if it was every-day thing. Frowning, I realized that it probably was.

"What? Liz is really gone? No way, there were rumours that she was pregnant."

"Nah, her dad went psycho or something."

"dont be ridiculous, her mother got pregnant from a random guy who came out to be their relative. So they moved, didn't want to bear the shame."

"oh disgusting."

I snapped my eyes up at Pietro who rubbed his hands as he took a seat opposite of me, cutting the other people from my line of vision. "I got so used to you glowing orbs I nearly forgot, here, I got you those sunglasses and Bluetooth earphones. Put them on, bet it will feel better." he said, placing them on the table and sliding the over to me.

The glasses I was familiar with, I placed them on, welcoming the feel of them sitting on my nose.
The headphones I've seen as well. I could vaguely remember a situation where I was back in the base, screaming my lungs out as I had been injected with another serum. The doctors had placed them over their head, I hadn't understood it back then, but placing them over my head now made me realize their importance.

"Now you look like a proper teenager, sunglasses and headphones."

I snapped my eyes at the woman speed walking towards us. "your pasta, sir. Cola and orange juice. Strawberry muffins will be brough to you shortly. Is there anything else?" she asked with high pitched voice and I was thankful for the headphones. The womans eyes flickered between me and Pietro. "yes, could we have some fries as well? Don't forget the ketchup. Thanks!" Pietro said with his heavy accented voice. The woman nodded and bent closer to Pietro.

"is that your brother?" Pietro nodded, a grin forming on his lips as his eyes twinkled with amusement. "that's so sweet, most teenagers stay indoors alot these days. Glad to see someone trying to bring them outside as well from time to time. I suggest you get rid of those PC games. Anyways, I'll be back shortly, enjoy your pasta!" she said and I couldn't help but feel annoyed of her already, she smelt overly sweet. The smell tickled my senses, making me sneeze.

Pietro licked his lips, staring at the food on his plate as if it was the sun in the darkest days. He took the fork and dug in.

I however, stared at my food. Were those worms or something? They smelt delicious. I glanced up at the Speedster from behind my tinted glasses, he had already inhaled half of the plate, meaning he wasn't worried it was poisoned.

I took a drink of the dark coloured drink before taking a bite of the odd looking meal.

I froze at the taste of it.

I understood why Pietros food was already gone from the plate. I hadn't even realized how hungry I really was.

"Here are your muffins, boys." the woman was back, placing some baked goods on the table. A small note on Pietros plate made me stop my munching. What was that?

She winked at Pietro, walking away while swinging her hips.

She was funny.

Pietro snickered, showing the note to me. Call me 3355... Valerie xx

“That's how you get the girls dude.” He said, eating his third muffin already. I watched the crumbs that covered his half of the table, wondering how one human being was capable of eating like that.

“Alright, I gotta go find a restroom. You enjoy the food, I'll be back and don't go anywhere. Oh, and don't kill anyone as well.”

Why must he keep reminding me that. I watched as Pietro disappeared in a hallway, my eyes flickered down at my half eaten plate as I took in the sweet and spicy smell of this pasta.

However, my eyes traveled upwards as I heard someone enter the dark diner.
They looked vaguely familiar.

I kept eating, trying to look as normal as I possibly could while listening in on their conversation.

“I can't do this anymore, it's suffocating.” the woman said, twirling piece of her brown hair in between her fingers. She had an accent as well I noted. The dark skinned man placed a cup of steaming coffee in front of her, sitting down next to the woman.

“Ah, they'll get over it. You know them. Both of them are after justice, their own kind of law.” the man said, taking a sip of his coffee. “Yes, but can't they just agree on one thing? Just for once?” the man chuckled, leaning against the soft sest. “it would suit them now would it?” “I guess you're right Sam.”

I stared at the woman and her large, troubled eyes. She sighed, her eyes traveling outside. I could see her eyes jumping from person to person as they finally landed on me.

I didn't like her look, it was oddly suspicious. I felt uncomfortable under her gaze, but forced myself to drink cola, yet my eyes remained on her.

A pain like no other entered my skull as I chocked on my drink. I screamed through my teeth, holding onto my head as the pain dug its claws deeper into my brain. “Wanda!”

In a hue of blue and whoosh of air the pain was gone, and I was back outside leaning against a cold wall as Pietro made sure there was nobody near us. “come, we have to get further than that.” Pietro heaved me over his shoulder and sped heaven knows where. I couldn't think, the trail of pain still in my head as I groaned, feeling slightly sick.
