We were marching through the early morning. From the outside, we looked like two cranky guys.
Well, my senses went hayware. I couldn't see sunrise due to cloudy weather, but the morning was still rainy and amazing in my opinion.
I followed Winter Soldier silently, we didn't speak but I knew he was the leader at the moment.
Something flashy caught my eye, I halted and stared.
There was a woman with thin clothing, simply sitting against a large tree reading a book. Beside her was a basket full of something that smelled heavenly. Her mouth was moving as she kept a phone between her ear and shoulder while she flipped through the pages “-yeah, I'm waiting for him, I know, yeah, he's hot-” I didn't care to focus more.
I cocked my head, eyeing her up and down. Was she a goddess? Her nearly white hair fell down in waves, freckles covered her round cheeks and pointy nose. She wore a dress with odd colours, but it fit her well.
Her eyes slowly looked up and widened in horror. It was beautiful colour, her eye colour reminded me of sunny sky. She was a beautiful creature. The phone fell on the grass with a small thud “hey, Cassandra? Are you there?” I could hear the small voice from the phone ask. I waved a little, it came naturally, it felt formal to wave. Suddenly the woman staring at me creetched so loud it nearly made my ears bleed. I flinched as she started throwing small things at me, such as rocks, fallen branches and something from her basket.
I choked when Winter Soldier suddenly grabbed the hem of my shirt and yanked me away into the depths of the forest. I huffed when his metal hand clamped around my wrist, holding on tightly. I could see the redness around my wrist getting more visible, but his face held no emotion whatsoever. Considering how tightly he held my wrist, he seemed to be angry. Or maybe he was just annoyed. I didn't know exactly.
Going through the forest silently I couldn't help but bonder, why did the woman throw things at me? Didn't she like the waving? Perhaps she would have prefferd a simple hello. But then again, would it have been appropriate? I don't know, or maybe she would've expected me to just walk away? And what was she doing there alone? Was she an enemy? Uh-oh, maybe it was stupid of me to show myself.
But I just wanted to get to know her.
Peeking up at Winter Soldier, I realized he was still showing no emotion whats so ever.
I perked up when I sensed someone nearby, I could see someone wearing black clothes following us by side. I growled lowly, only stopping when I caught the sigh of the red HYDRA logo on the person's shoulder.
The deeper into the forest we went, more agents started surrounding us. Winter Soldier didn't even look at them, guess he did know where he was going after all.
I felt disappointment when I saw the familiar structure of a hidden underground base. I knew it would be a long time before I saw the outside world again, or if I were to see it again.
We were immediately met with bunch of agents, scientist and Doctor Masinzky.
“Doctor, sir, Masinzky! I-I felt rain an-” my hoarse voice croaked out that was silenced by a loud, ear ringing slap. It stung, but oddly it didn't bother me, in fact, it didn't even hurt that much. It was the surprise that made me go quiet.
I had talked.
I had talked without permission and I had fleed from the ship wreck the day earlier. I hadn't returned by myself.
How stupid I was. Stupid, stupid, worthless idiot.
“Soldat, report.”
“Subject delivered to base Fort Minor. Stayed in outskirts of the city in old clock tower. Started locating the base 5AM after the rain.” Soldat informed Doctor Masinzky, not even batting an eyelash. I tensed when I felt two agents grabbing me by the shoulder, forcing the metal handcuffs tightly around my red wrists.
I was pushed inside the base roughly, Doctor glared at me and I treaded what was to come next, but I deserved it. After all, I got carried away. It was my fault, stupid Subject. Stupid.
One thing still bothered me.
Why hadn't Soldat mentioned the girl who had roughly disliked my waving?
