CITIZEN_10: Aleki Young (Shoemaker-Levy9)

Name: Aleki Young, also known as "Maleko's dad"

Age: 44

Gender: Male

Appearance: Gone are the days of a handsome Adonis in polished perfection off nature's assembly line. Time has modified him, if not distorted him. In the place of hopeful eyes are tired eyes weighed down by chronic shadows of a circadian rhythm gone awry. His bronze skin has become dry, and age lines have formed on his forehead like weathered metal. He's stayed somewhat classically attractive but emphasizing the "classically" as it could only be used to mean dated. Tall, dark, and handsome have increasingly warped into average, ethnically ambiguous, and fatherly. Well-trained eyes can tell he's from somewhere in the South Pacific, but there isn't an algorithm sophisticated enough to properly place him. His black hair is starting to gray the same way machines rust, and his robotic prosthetic leg illustrates changes to his time and a future built by new machines.

Personality: In a functional yet malfunctioning society, Aleki has found himself becoming increasingly jaded. He's more reserved, less ambitious, and often finds himself stuck in a state of just trying to keep things operational. When required, he can put on a display of someone more bright and breezy. Though, those that know him know he's neither. They will, however, note him as someone quite charitable. Call it the human belief in karma or empathy, Aleki tries to help others when he can. A few bucks to cover change, or help with moving heavy boxes, the small things seem to matter.

History: Before the new machines were the human ones—productive workers clocking in and out on a 9 to 5. In the days of a less stable, more decentralized Idyll, Aleki worked as security detail for ChorTek Tower. Production levels were beginning to skyrocket, and the money was good. But human workers give way to human errors, and a work accident cost him both a leg and the job. He wasn't explicitly fired per se, but "leave" has a bad habit of being permanent, and he signed an NDA. Clandestine operations lead to clandestine removals, after all.

Still, in the epoch of the Anthropocene, these new machines haven't yet learned to reproduce. Perhaps the only leg up the old ones have over the new ones. Unsurprisingly then, after starting a new job elsewhere, Aleki met a girl, and they started a family. One son and a small dog named Terror. Unfortunately, his wife passed away a few years after the birth of their son, Maleko, but they've been quite resilient. Their household is not as functional as a well-oiled machine, but rest assured, they make it work.

Activity: In this mechanical paradise, Aleki works in the tourist sector. More specifically, the Discover Idyll information center where he can suggest to you an assortment of activities like rooftop swims, a race across a glowing dragway, luxury wine-tasting, or stargazing at Night Light Park. Studies have shown people trust human faces more than artificial ones when it comes to convincing patrons where to spend their time.

When off-duty, however, Aleki spends most of his time with his son, or on Open Village, an app that helps single parents find support and community. There's a group chat for those that live in Idyll.

Other: His son, Maleko, is seven years old and obsessed with Johnny Doe, a fictional folk hero on his favorite tv show called Rust Riders.
