"For Merlin, what a blow you gave that fifth-year boy," Draco began to laugh, settling into the black sofa in the common room.

"His name is Nicholas Mullet," Pansy said.

"I didn't even know his name," Y/N scoffed.

"Any reason why you embarrassed him?" Blaise asked curiously.

"I didn't want him on the team anyway, and I knew he was going to fail," Y/N said an excuse, concentrating on a ball of parchment and making it rise.

"Anyway, you know you have to go to Potions class," said Blaise. "You've already had three absents, and it's with a new professor."

"What happened with Snape?" he asked.

"He went on a trip for Dumbledore; that's what they told me." Goyle spoke as he and Crabbe ate sweets together.

Y/N made a confused face; it was pretty weird the absence of Profesor Snape.

"Also practicing non-verbal spells, it's a lot harder than I expected," Draco snorted.

"I'm hungry," Crabbe complained.

"When not?" said Draco sarcastically.

They got up and went to the Great Hall to go to dinner. After criticizing Crabbe that he was hungry, everyone finally got hungry. They walked up the stairs until they reached the foyer, and as usual, the doors to the Great Hall were open. The group laughed at a joke Blaise had said, but their smiles faded because there were Ravenclaw students at their table.

"Excuse me, but I think your table is over there," Y/N said, pointing to the third table.

"We know, but the Inquisitor wanted this table to be for Ravenclaw from now on," said a student.

"What?" asked Draco in disbelief.

"If we don't sit where she stipulated, she will get us detention," said another Ravenclaw student.

"But it's unfair, that's been our table for a long time, and this old woman changes things in such a short time," Pansy snorted.

"Do you know where Slytherin goes?" Y/N asked.

"Your table are next to Gryffindor," they all looked at each other and began to deny.

"No way am I am sitting there eating, along with those Gryffindors," Crabbe refused.

Y/N sat down at the table with the Ravenclaw students, it was his table, and no one was going to take it away from him.

"What are you doing, Y/N?" Pansy asked, a little alarmed.

"I'm defending my rights; this has been our table for a long time," he began to serve himself food, and the group joined him in sitting at the table.

Part of the Slytherin house had done the same as Y/N. Everyone mimicked what he did. The table was slowly filling up to the point where everyone was crammed together, invading personal space. Everyone looked at the mix of blue and green robes on the same table. At any moment, the table could collapse because of so many students.

"Can anyone tell me why the Slytherin house is at the Ravenclaw table?" Umbridge asked with her wooden paperweight with several papers punctured on it.

No one paid any attention to her. They continued eating and talking. They even talked louder and laughed, until at that moment, the Inquisitor pulled out her wand. She caused the table to be without any objects and dirty almost all the students with food. Everyone looked at her, and she had her lips curled up as she got everyone's attention.

"You're all grounded," she smiled wickedly, and Y/N got up from the table.

"I gave the idea," he replied, and they all looked at him.

"L/N," she whispered, but everyone could hear her over the silence.

"That's my last name; I'm glad you know it," he said sarcastically, eliciting a few chuckles.

"To the Headmaster's office and then to mine," she gave an annoying giggle.

His friends and everyone looked at him with some concern as they heard about Umbridge's punishment levels.

"The one who sits at the wrong table will be severely punished," she spoke loud enough to make it clear.

Professor McGonagall quickly escorted Y/N, not wanting him to go alone.

"That was very severe disrespect, L/N," McGonagall said seriously. "So I thought it was very cool what you said to him, ten points for Slytherin," she smiled proudly, causing him to smile.

"I couldn't let her get away with it," Y/N said, walking along with her.

"I know, but be careful, remember she is part of the Ministry," she said with concern.

"But professor, if the Ministry finds out what she's doing, we'll get her to leave at once," Y/N said.

"We tried, and I am very aware of the situation, but it seems they have refused to visit the castle because they trust Umbridge," she said. "Better try not to be in trouble L/N," she put her hand on his shoulder.

"I won't make any promise, Professor," he replied.

Upon arrival, Professor McGonagall said the password so that he could enter Dumbledore's office. The giant owl circled, revealing a spiral staircase, and Y/N climbed up. He walked until he saw the headmaster's desk, and next to it was his phoenix bird looking up at him.

"Y/N L/N," a quiet voice was heard, walking in his direction.

"Professor Dumbledore, I'm here because Umbridge told me she was going to give me a punishment."

"I know," he replied.

"What will the punishment be?" Y/N asked, looking at the older man sitting in his chair.

"I think Professor Umbridge has made a mistake," he said, and Y/N looked at Dumbledore with a confused look. "I'm not going to punish you for defending yourself; for years, the Slytherin house has been at that table," he smiled without showing his teeth. "Now, I will let her know that you will be serving your so-called punishment and that you will not be able to go to her office," he took out some books. "Take these books to the library to Madame Pince and then go to patrol."

"Yes, professor," he reached over to take the books from his desk.

"Before you go," he called his attention, and Y/N turned to listen to him. "Have you been feeling any different lately?' he asked.

"Everything is the same, Professor," he smiled sideways and with a bit of confusion at the question.

'Well, you may go, and don't forget to come here if you need anything," Dumbledore said, and Y/N nodded and left the office.

Y/N walked with the books that Dumbledore had given him; he walked through the corridors, and for a few seconds, he thought about the strange question he had asked him; Y/N decided to leave the subject, and finally, he had arrived at the library. He approached Madame Pince, who was about to close with five minutes to go.

"Oh L/N," she sighed.

"Professor Dumbledore sent me to deliver this to you," he put the books on the desk.

"Oh yes, Professor Dumbledore promised to return them today," she informed, picking up the books and waved his wand to put them where they belonged, "Thank you for the favor."

Y/N nodded and went a little further into the place. That night it was his turn to patrol again in that boring place as he used to call it. So he walked through the large bookshelves that the library possessed, and on one of the tables, there was a large pile of books. He heard footsteps approaching and looked up a little, and the presence of the girl with bushy hair was present. She was reading a book, and a particular feature he noticed was how she was frowning while reading. She did not identify who was next to her, but by inertia, she greeted him.

"Good evening, the library is about to close," she said in a kind voice without looking.

"Unfortunately, I can't leave," Y/N said, crossing his arms, and she took her eyes off her book and looked at him.

"Weren't you in detention?" Hermione asked strangely.

"I have my tricks," YN said.

"Well..." she still had a strange expression on her face.

"Everything in order?" he asked as he looked at her.

"Nothing, it's just strange that in these seconds of conversation, you haven't insulted me," she confessed.

"I didn't think you were such a masochist," Y/N mocked at her.

"Forget it, you're back to being the same old idiot," she rolled her eyes. "Anyway, we have work to do. Madame Pince asked us to return some books to their proper shelves."

"I only came to patrol, not to play to the librarian," he said, sitting down on one of the chairs in the library. "And unfortunately, such a task does not suit my incompetence."

Hermione's reaction was evident; she could not stand the narcissistic and attitude of Y/N. Without wasting time, she picked up some books, looked at the title, and knew where the book was going. Y/N was swinging with the chair and twirling his wand. He saw at that moment that Hermione was trying to pick up some more books to speed up the work, but due to the heavy load, she had dropped some of them on the floor. She sighed and bent down to pick them up; concentrating on her task; she reached out her hand to take the last remaining one and felt something strange as she grabbed the book. Her hand was over Y/N's and had met his gaze. She had never been close to his presence. As expected, they had cut off eye contact, and walked quickly away.

"Quidditch Through the Ages, a good book" he read the title of the book and opened it to see who had borrowed it.

"The only one you've ever read in your life," Hermione spat, rearranging the books.

"What do you know?" he rolled her eyes in irritation.

"In all the books I've borrowed over the years, the only one I've seen your name on is that one," she spat, walking over to return each book to its correct section.

"Wow, I didn't know you were so aware of what I do and don't do either," he teased as he followed her. "Do you like me, Granger? Because if so, I wouldn't blame you." He laughed.

"I wouldn't be with you in a million lifetimes because you're the most arrogant thing there is, and you're not my type either," she returned the last book she had in her hands to take the rest she had

"I'm everyone's ideal type, too bad that you have such bad taste," he answered, looking at her. "But in that case, surprise me. What's your type?" he leaned against one of the tables.

"You don't know anything about me, and stop trying making yourself interesting," she returned with more books. "And believe me, if I were interested in someone, I wouldn't talk to you about it."

"McLaggen, he fancies you," he commented, looking at the book he still had. "I hope he knows what he's getting into when he gets together with you."

She turned to give him a triggered look; she seemed more offended and not by what he said about her attitude would be like in a relationship. It was the fact that he would affiliate her with one of the most unbearable boys in school. She could not stand the presence of Cormac McLaggen and would never be with him.

"He's vile," she replied, "and you insult me greatly by mentioning that I'd have a future with him," she arranged the last book she had left. "He's an idiot, insensitive, stupid, incompetent, and a complete—

"Motherfucker," he finished her sentence.

"Yes..."

"At last in these six years, we agree on something Granger," he laughed while walking to the right shelf of the book he had.

"It's an interesting book," Hermione said, referring to the Quidditch Through the Ages book. "Lots of rules to learn and strategic plays."

"I know, one of my favorites is to hit the bludger into the crowd," he teased, and she gave him a disapproving look.

"And that's why Gryffindor is better," he shook his head and walked away.

Y/N rolled his eyes; he wasn't going to spend his time arguing with her and concentrated on the task of completing his patrol shift. The hours passed quickly, and at the end of the shift, they headed out of the library. And before they parted to go to their corresponding common rooms, Y/N closed her eyes.

"Thank you," he let out as if it was the hardest thing in the world, and she looked at him. "The multrap essence helped me a lot, and my hand feels better, all thanks to you," he tried not to look at her because he knew his ego was falling by that moment.

"It was nothing, and I'm glad it helped you," she smiled genuinely.

"I'm sorry for what I said," he apologized, and she paid attention to what he was saying. "Anyone would notice you... I mean, you're brilliant; I mean, I'm not saying I would be with you or anything like that, but...

"Sure, Jan." Anael commented, looking at the situation.

"I think you would have suitors out there that yearn to be with you because you know you are Granger, the brightest witch in the whole school, "he sighed at the ridiculous scene he was making.

Hermione smiled at the scene, and at the same time, she didn't believe those words were coming out of Y/N L/N's mouth.

"Don't worry, it's in the past," she replied.

"You don't worry either, because, after this, I won't apologize to you, and I will continue to treat you the same way," he quickly defended himself to improve his composure.

"Anyway, at least I was able to witness your "not an idiot" side," she made quotation marks with one hand.

"So you're saying I have two sides?" he asked with some confusion.

"For now, yes," she replied.

"I'll try to be on the "idiot" side because annoying you is my passion," he insinuated egocentrically.

"The side I know," she said. "It's late now, good night L/N," he walked to his common room.

He watched her leave, and he had gone to her common room in the dungeons. Did he have to bring out the "not an idiot" side?

No, she was a mudblood, and he wasn't supposed to be nice. Many years of being educated about the importance of blood superiority were not going to be thrown away.
