Meet up
Hello, my lovelies! I'm back with another chapter. I know I said I would upload on Monday, but I was so busy and I couldn't find the time. But, it's here now. I promised a chapter with details on how to enter the giveaway. I haven't forgotten, I'm just so freaking busy. But, I will do it sometime this week.
Ahywhore, I hope you enjoy this chapter. The next one will be up after this.

"Don't be nervous. They are your family; they'll be happy to see you."
She was pacing the length of the room. Her hands clutched tightly together. Every few seconds, her eyes would glance at the clock, and as the seconds ticked closer to her parents' arrival, her nervousness increased.
"I know it's silly for me to be so nervous, but I can't help this feeling that's telling me that all this will turn out to not be true. That all this is just a dream."
Walking over to her, I took the hands that she was clutching like a lifeline. Her palms were sweaty and shaking slightly. To try and calm her down some, I drew small circles over her knuckles with my thumbs. She gave an audible sigh, her shoulders slumping.
"Do you trust me?"
She nodded. "Then trust that I am right about this. Trust that my heart recognises you. Trust that I love you. Trust that everything will be okay."
With tears in her eyes, nodded and smiled. "Okay, I will. But I need to get over my anxiety. Tell me about my family. What are they like? What was our relationship like? Did they approve of us being together? Why haven't you been in contact with them all these years?"
Well, f**k. Where to start? She looked at me expectantly. Her brown eyes filled with curiosity. How would I answer her questions without making her even more nervous? It's not like I'd be able to hide my dislike for her parents any more than they will be able to hide theirs for me.
They disliked that I took their daughter from them, and I disliked that they wanted to take her from me. They thought that I wasn't good enough for her, and I thought that I was the only one for her. Her parents and I are in a agree to disagree relationship, and none of us was willing to back down.
"I'm going to need a drink for this."
"Oh my god, you guys hate each other, right?"
She looked disheartened. I wished I could tell her that it wasn't true. That her parents and I were on good terms, but it would be no use lying to her when she'd surely see the truth when they arrive.
"Hate is such a strong word."
She took her hand out of mine and walked over to the couch, dropping herself into it. A frown marred her beautiful face as she gazed up at me.
"You guys definitely hate each other."
I took the seat opposite her, recapturing her hands with one of mine. With my free hand, I moved her hair out of her face, tucking it behind her ear.
"Even if that's the case, all that matters is that we all love you."
Her frown deepened, and she didn't look convinced. On the contrary, she looked even more worried.
"What happened? Why do you guys hate each other?"
I sighed, "Where do I begin?"
"Oh, this is definitely bad." She expressed in frustration.
I wasn't doing a good job of keeping her calm, and when she heard the reason why her parents and I disliked each other, she was going to get even more worked up.
"You already know about when I first saw you. And you know from the FBI that our relationship did not start in the traditional way."
She nodded. "However, what you don't know is how we got together."
As I started to recall our encounter in the club and her asking me for help. I saw an array of different expressions passed over her beautiful face. From a frown to a glare, to love, then back to a frown. At the end of it, she didn't look too happy. And for the first time in my life, I was afraid of what she would think of me. It has never concerned me before what she thought about the way I robbed her of her life. But when her eyes looked at me in disappointment, I felt a sting in my heart.
"Wow. Is this even going to work? Maybe I shouldn't meet them now."
I didn't want the feeling of animosity that was between me, and her parents to stop her from meeting them.
"Do you hate me for what I did to you?"
I asked the question before I could stop myself. It nagged me, and I needed to hear her answer. If she said she did, what would I do? I wasn't willing to give her up. But would I still be able to keep her?
"I don't remember the Lilly you fell in love with, so I can't say what her feelings are on what you did to her. However, from the life, I've lived these past five years and all the things Lacey has been through, I'd say what you did was nothing compared to that. The way you went about it could have been better, but you loved her. I mean, me."
She sighed in frustration. "God it's so hard to get used to being Lilly and not Lacey. But what I'm getting at is, I don't hate you. And if I'm her and she's me, then she didn't hate you either."
She looked at me, confused. "Does any of what I just said make any sense?"
I smiled, releasing the breath that I was holding. I didn't know how much I needed to hear her say that. I did some f**ked up things to her that maybe I shouldn't, but I won't erase any of it because it allowed me to be with her.
She said that I should have gone about wooing her the right way. But what she didn't know was, she wouldn't have given me the time of day. She was in love with Jason, and even if I had tried to court her, she wouldn't have given in. She was loyal beyond a fault. She would have stuck to the little bastard. So, I had to do what was necessary to make her mine.
"Your parents loved you. You had a very happy relationship and an even happier childhood. Your parents and I have never really seen eye to eye. But the one thing we agree on is that you are the most important thing in our lives."
She smiled, but it barely reached her eyes. She was trying not to look nervous, but it still showed. I leaned into her, kissing her softly on her lips. She sighed against my lips, relaxing just a little.
"Killian, her family is here."
I turned to Mik. His hand was touching his gun that was holstered under his jacket. I looked at Red and she was looking at Mik's hand. The hostility between her family and mine was evident from Mik's uneasiness.
"Send them in."
Mik nodded and left the room. I took her hand and stood. She had started shaking again, and I guess what I told her before didn't make the situation any better.
"You ready?" I asked.
She nodded and said yes. But her eyes told a different story. She didn't only look nervous, but scared.
"I'm going to be here with you all the time. I'm not leaving your sight, okay?"
She blew out a nervous breath, looking a little more relieved. I leaned in and kissed her forehead just as her family entered the room.
I haven't seen them in over twelve years. Ever since the first time I thought Natasha killed Lilly, I never contacted her parents after that. They looked older, nothing like the Lilith and Marco that I knew from before. Her brothers looked more or less the same, but with stronger more pronounced features.
She walked over to them, briefly glancing back at me for support. I nodded at her, reassuring her that it was okay. Lilith and Marco were in tears. Her mother reached out for her before she even got close to them, pulling her into her arms.
"My baby. My baby."
Marco stepped forward and put his arms around his wife and daughter. Red broke down, crying as she embraced her parents. Her brothers stood in the corner, watching the scene unfold.
My heart broke for the anguish I saw on my baby's face. I might not like her parents very much, but I couldn't deny that they love her and was happy to have her back in their lives.
