History repeats

Hello, my lovelies! How are all of you doing? I hope you are all having a wonderful time and enjoying the weather. I'm loving it so far. Just a few things before you read this chapter, or you can skip my rambling and proceed.

Anywhore, as I was writing this chapter, I kept wondering where my readers are from. If you're comfortable enough, just drop a line in the comment section and give a shout out to where you're from. I'm Guyanese, but I live in the UK.

Moving on from that. I'm glad that you guys are still enjoying the book. I know that I lost some readers along the way, but most of you loyal bitches stayed. So, to reward you, next month I will be doing a giveaway. So, keep your eyes peeled and look for the deets on my chapters. I'm working out what would be a good prize, so I haven't fully thought this through. However, if you have any ideas, do let me know in the comments.

Okay, enough of that, I'll let you get back to reading.

Mik P.O.V

"Honey, I'm home."

I dropped my keys in the dish on the table by the door. The aromatic smell of baked goods hit my nostrils, taking me back to a time in my childhood when my mother would spend the weekend baking for me and my sisters.

I took my shoes off and was knocked flat on my ass by a small frame that came at me faster than any quarterback could.

"Daddy's home! Daddy's home!"

She chanted, throwing her hands around my neck and squeezing as tight as her little arms would allow.

"Hey, honey," I said, squeezing her lightly.

"Hey, daddy. Guess what? Mummy's making beat fruit turnovers."

She pulled back to look at me. Her face scrunched up in disgust. It made me laugh.

"Mummy's making what?" I asked, not too sure I've ever heard of beat fruit turnovers.

"She's making beat fruit turnovers and they taste yucky."

She stuck her tongue out and stuck a finger in her mouth to demonstrate. She looked so cute that all I could do was laugh again.

"I'm making beetroot turnover, and Millie is going to eat it because beetroot is good for her," Jessica called from the kitchen, hearing our daughter complain.

Millie whispered, "But I don't like beat fruit."

I scrunched up my face to match hers. "Daddy doesn't like beat fruit either."

"I heard that!" Jessica yelled.

Both Millie and I laughed. I stared at her, marvelling at how much she looked like Jessica. I would sometimes see a bit of Frank in her, but it never bothered me because I loved her as if she was part of me.

After I killed Frank and took my family back, I wanted Jessica to abort the baby in her belly. However, when I had my hand resting on Jessica's stomach one day and I felt Millie kicked, I knew that I wouldn't be able to make her go through with it. I fell in love with her even before I met her.

I thought that when she was finally born, I'd be mad because she was another man's child. However, the complete opposite happened. I immediately loved her even more. I enjoyed the experience of having a baby around because I never got to with my other kids.

We were inseparable from the moment she was born. I loved her as much as I did my others and would kill anyone who dare hurt her.

"Daddy, why are you looking at me like that?"

I must have been staring at her. I smiled, then picked her up in my arms. She wiggled and giggled as I started tickling her.

"Because you're about to be tickled by the tickle monster."

She laughed hard as I put her gently on the couch and lightly tickled her.

"Oh no, not the tickle monster!"

I enjoyed her laughter. I lightly tickled her a while longer but stopped when Jessica came into the room, carrying two glasses of warm milk and a plate of beetroot turnovers.

We both looked at the plate and made a gagging sound. Jessica stood there with her hands on her hips, frowning at us.

"You are both going to eat them all, and wash it down with some nice warm milk, or both of you will not be getting any treats later."

Millie and I looked at each other and gasped in shock. Millie looked at the plate then back at her mother.

"What kinda treats are we talking about?"

I laughed at her trying to feel her mother out. Jessica shot me an irritated look, and I raised my hands in surrender. I didn't know what Millie's treat was, but I definitely know what mine was.

Jessica narrowed her eyes at me then looked at the plate. She folded her armed as her brow kicked up in a challenge. She would definitely not let me f**k her because I refuse to eat the horrid thing. Not wanting to put it to the test, I picked up one of the pastries and took a big bite. Jessica smiled, feeling satisfied.

Millie's eyes widened, then her face scrunched up.

"Daddy, you were s'posed to be on my side!"

I wanted to be on her side, but I also wanted to f**k my wife later as well. It was a losing battle, that I was fighting between the two loves of my life. However, I knew that I could easily make it up to Millie. Jessica, on the other hand, would keep her p***y from me for a week. I couldn't have that.

"I am on your side, that's why I'm eating it, that way we'll both get treats after."

She folded her arms, much like her mother. I laughed because I knew that I was not convincing her of my loyalty.

"I think, you want mummy's treats more than I do."

I couldn't deny that. Jessica laughed as our daughter eyed me suspiciously. However, she finally gave in and took a big bite of the turnover. She sat there, testing the texture in her mouth before deciding that it wasn't so bad. I, on the other hand, still thought that it tasted nasty. The outer layer of the pastry was fine, it was the substance inside that I didn't like.

We both cleaned the plate and finished our milk. Jessica stood there until we were done, then she took the empty plate and glasses away.

"Mummy will take you to your favourite ice cream shop later."

Millie's face lit up and she started jumping on the couch in glee. Jessica turned to look at me, and I waited patiently to hear about my treat as well.

"And daddy will just have to wait until it's dark to find out what his treat is going to be."

I smiled at her, and my heart skipped a beat when she winked at me seductively. My dick twitched just a little in anticipation. I was definitely going to enjoy my treat.

Jessica walked back into the kitchen and back to her baking, and Millie and I sat and watch yet another princess movie.

"Why didn't you come home with your sister? You promised to help her with her project."

Jessica had just finished baking and was in the kitchen, storing her baked goods, when Jasper ventured in. I came to check on her and stopped when I heard them talking.

She offered him one of her signature muffins, which he took, but instead of eating it, he just stared at it.

"I had to make sure Brave got home safe."

Jessica smiled at the nickname, but I frowned. He's been calling Rose that ever since he watched the movie Brave with his sister a few years ago. He said that the character reminded him of Rose.

I wasn't opposed to them being in a relationship in the future, but I wasn't exactly thrilled about it either. I'd preferred it if they both dated outside of the family. It was already enough that Gabe and Freya were seeing each other. However, whenever there was a problem in their relationship, it most often than not spilt over into my friendship with Killian. But I knew that the fallout would be even bigger if Jasper and Rose started a relationship, and it didn't work out.

He stopped staring at the muffin, putting it down on the counter. A dejected look in his eyes as he looked at his mother.

"She hates me, mum. I love her so much, but she hates me."

I wasn't surprised by this, and neither was Jessica. We've both known that our son's feeling towards Rose was much like Killian's feeling towards Lilly when he was Jasper's age. It scared Jessica because she did not want her son to turn out like Killian, and to achieve that, she would restrict the amount of time he spent at their house.

"Oh, honey. No, she does not."

Jessica laid her hand on his shoulder to offer him some form of comfort. I was surprised when he didn't shrug it off. A few years back he stopped letting her hug him or comfort him in any way. His personality began to change, and he was no longer the laughing kid that he once was.

We were both baffled by this because we didn't know what was causing it. It wasn't until he confided in Gabe that we knew. He told his big brother that he was getting urges, strong urges towards Rose. He wanted her for himself. He was jealous of everyone she laughed and smiled with. He wanted to hurt them for taking what he couldn't get. He wanted all of what she had to give, all for himself.

Jessica cried upon hearing this, thinking that she failed him as a mother. I assured her that that wasn't true. She was the best mother any kid could ask for, and Jasper's behaviour had nothing to do with her parenting. It was definitely my percentage that f**ked him up.

Jessica liked to convince herself that Killian was the only f**ked up one in our friendship, but we both know that I was no better. Killian might be a little more reckless in his approach to things, where I was the more level-headed one. We balanced each other out, that's why our friendship worked well.

"Maybe it's for the best anyway. It's not like dad and uncle K are in favour of us being in a relationship anyway."

I felt bad as a parent. I wanted my son to have whatever he wanted. I knew that I was being hypocritical because I went after the woman I wanted, killing her husband and stealing his kid in the process. However, Rose is not like her mother. I didn't think she'd take too kindly to being forced into any relationship that she didn't want. And besides, Killian and I might end up pulling our guns at each other, because the bastard would not let anyone do to his daughter what he did to Lilly. And I wouldn't sit still and let him hurt my son.

"Oh, sweetheart, it's not as simple as you think. They're just concern about the fallout if things don't work out with you too. Your dad and Killian have been friends for many years. They're more like brothers than friends, and that's the kind of relationship that they want you kids to have."

Jessica tried to make light of the situation. I knew that it hurt her to see her son in pain, but she also wanted him to forget about his feelings for Rose and move on.

"But I don't want to be her brother, mum! I can't watch her grow up and get married to someone else and be happy for her."

Tears welled in Jessica's eyes. I hated seeing her crying and I wanted to comfort her, but I also didn't want to ruin their mother-son moment.

"Honey, you never know. Give it a few more years and you might find that you'll find another girl who you will love even more. You're still young, you don't really know what love is."

I knew that she didn't believe her own words and neither did I. She was pulling at straws, hoping something would hold.

"I know that I loved her from the moment I saw her. I know that I'll continue to love her even if I can't have her. I know that there will never be a next girl that I'd love more than her."

Jessica sighed, dejected. Listening to my son, I knew that I'd have to talk to Killian again. I'll have to try and reason with him because I was sure that once Jasper is older, he will be unable to suppress his urges, and will probably go down the same route Killian did.

"I don't know what to say, Jasper. I wish that there was something that I could do."

He got to his feet. Leaning forward he hugged his mum. Jessica's eyes widened in surprise, but she hugged him back.

"It's okay mum, it's not your fault. Five more years and I'll be in college. Maybe being thousands of miles away from her will lessen the way I feel about her."

I knew that it wouldn't, and from the look on Jessica's face, I could tell that she thought the same thing as well. Jasper pulled back and nodded his head. A determined look in his eyes as he made his decision.

"Yeah, I guess that's what I'll do."

With the muffin still discarded on the counter, he turned to leave the room, but stopped to say,

"I'll come home with Gemi from tomorrow."

When he walked out of the room and through the back door. I walked into the kitchen. Jessica turned to look at me, not surprised to see me there.

"We have to do something, Mik. Did you see the look in his eyes when he said he can't watch her be with someone else?"

I nodded my head and she continued.

"He will grab her. He will take her against her will and run and Killian will hunt him to the end of the earth because Rose is all he has left of Lilly."

She was frantically crying. I pull her in my arms and hold her close. I knew that I could no longer ignore my son's feelings, and if he's anything like myself and Killian, taking him to therapy would do f**k all for him. The only way around it was to give him what he craved. I just had to figure out how to get Killian to agree.
