Chapter 4
Wakiya's P.O.V.
The next day Rantaro was waiting for us when we arrived at school. I tried to ignore him, but he jumped right in front of me. "Hey, Wakiya," he greeted me cheerily.
"Hi, Rantaro," I replied, looking past him.
"Are you free to go anywhere with me yet?" Rantaro asked me eagerly.
"No. Like I said, I'm never free," I ran past him, and Hoji followed me. I felt Rantaro staring at me as we ran towards the school. I ignored him. Right now, I only wanted to be with Hoji.
We walked to out class together. Then I sat down and stared at the clock for the whole class, waiting until school was over. Hoji sat next to me, glancing at me every now and then.
Eventually school ended, and I ran outside. Rantaro was waiting for me again, but I sped past him. I ran all the way to my house, with Hoji close behind.
I ran in the front door, and into my bedroom. Then I sat on the bed, breathless.
"What's with you and Rantaro?" Hoji asked me suddenly.
"Oh, we dated for a while," I said, aware of Hoji staring at me. "But we're not together any more," I added hastily. At least I don't think we are.
"Ok..." Hoji looked down. "It's just the way he talks to you, anyone would think you were still dating."
"Yes, well, Rantaro thinks we are," I shrugged. "But I don't love him anymore."
"Why not?"
I blushed. "I love someone else," I whispered, glancing at Hoji.
"Who is it?" he looked at me curiously.
I blushed harder. "Well, actually it's you, Hoji."
Now Hoji blushed. "Really? I love you too, Wakiya."
We stared at eachother in silence, and I knew we were waiting for the same thing. For one of us to make a move. I decided it had to be me.
I leaned in and kissed him on the lips.
That moment, nothing else mattered to me. Just Hoji's soft lips on mine, my arms wrapped around his neck. Eventually I pulled away, scared someone would come in and see us, even though I knew no one was in.
Hoji blushed, looking at me. "Wakiya... I can't..."
"Can't what?"
"I can't be with you. Not now." he turned away, and got up. Then we walked out of the room.
"Hoji, wait!" I called after him, but either he ignored me or he simply didn't hear me, but he didn't turn back. He just carried on walking down the stairs.
I stared after him long after he was gone, and then I felt tears running down my face. I lay down, burying my face into my pillow.
That night I heard the screaming of foxes in the dark sky.
Ok, I know I said the next chapter will be longer last time, but I just didn't have any ideas of what to write!! So the next chapter after this hopefully will be longer!!!!
