Chapter 7: Truth
P.O.V. Third
I sighed as I continued to follow Ozpin down the halls of Beacon. As we walked I couldn't help but wonder what it was he wanted to show me. However as we continued I noticed that we were once again heading to the medical wing. "If this is about me leaving then I-" I began only to get cut off by Ozpin.
"No, that's not the problem. It's something else," Ozpin said as he walked into a room that seemed to be a bit more isolated than the others. When we walked into the room I felt my stomach turn at what I saw. It was a female that had black fog coming off of her in two different locations. The first spot was from her face which made it impossible to tell who I was looking at and the other was on her side which covered most of her left half.
I walked up to the female seeing this and looked at him a bit sad. "I know you can't really tell in her current condition, but this is . . . Glynda Goodwitch, your combat teacher," Ozpin said as he looked at me causing me to tense up. I may have only been in her class for a day but she was still kind of nice, a bit serious but nice nonetheless. So seeing her in this condition was more than troubling.
"I know for a student such as yourself it must be difficult for you to think of Glynda as anyone but one of your professors. However she did have a family, and even had a child that she spent almost all of her free time with. She may have been a bit serious but she didn't deserve this. Do you have any idea who could have done this to her? Any information at all would be helpful," Ozpin said as he looked at me.
"Yeah," I said as I turned my attention tot he male in front of me. "I've seen this fog before and only one person comes to mind when it comes to using it," I said as I once again looked down at the female in front of me. "His name is Crimson, and he's another one of Salem's minions," I said as I looked at the male in front of me. Ozpin nodded hearing this and looked at me.
"Come with me, I'd like to take some notes and build a makeshift profile of the male until we have something more solid," Ozpin said as he looked at me. I nodded hearing this and began to follow him to his office. When we arrived I watched as Ozpin grabbed a clipboard and looked at me. "Any information you have on the male would be greatly appreciated," Ozpin said as he looked at me.
I nodded hearing this and sat across from him. "His name is Crimson, he's around my height and had bright red hair and deep red eyes," I said as I looked at the male in front me. Ozpin nodded hearing this and began to make a few notes. "He's really skinny, and from what I've seen while he's skilled in combat he prefers to rely on stealth more than actually trying to overpower his enemies," I said as I looked at the male in front of me.
I then sighed as I thought about what he probably wanted to know about the most. "You've already seen his semblance, it's that fog that was around professor Glynda. He can produce it at will, and it decays everything it comes into contact with. As you can tell it works differently from regular decay. First his fog get rid of all aura that it's target has. Then instead of actually decaying they just turn into ashes and vanish," I said as I looked at the male in front of me.
Ozpin nodded hearing this and continued to write on the board in front of him. "Is there anything else we should know about him?" Ozpin asked as she looked at me.
"Like I said he prefers stealth so he's not likely to attack anyone head on. In fact that's probably how he managed to defeat Glynda. He just got lucky and caught her off guard. So if they have to go out at night for whatever reason. Tell them to be careful, and if they're able tell them not to leave alone," I said as I looked at the male in front of me.
Ozpin nodded and seemed to write this down as well. "Is there anything else?" I said as I looked at the male in front of me. I looked up trying to think of anything that I thought might have been useful. However not being able to think of anything I sighed and shook my head.
"No, nothing comes to mind at the moment, but if I think of anything then I'll let you know," I said as I looked at male in front of me. Ozpin nodded hearing this and held up the clipboard that he had been writing on.
"Thank you, for your help. I'll be sure to alert the rest of Beacon's staff about this new threat," Ozpin said as he looked at me. I nodded hearing this and was about to leave but stopped myself and looked at the male in front of me.
"So, what exactly is your plan for training Ruby?" I asked as I looked at the male in front of me. When I asked this he looked at me and sighed.
"If I'm being honest, while it's something I wouldn't really call it a plan. Since Silver eyed warriors are so rare it's difficult to find anything on them. I can teach her the little I know, but I'm not sure how much that will be compared to what she's truly capable of," Ozpin said as he looked at me. I nodded hearing this and stood up.
"Well, I'd like to help however I can so if there's anything you need then let me know, and I'll see what I can do," I said as I looked at the male in front of me. Ozpin nodded hearing this and began to make way out of the room. So Ozpin doesn't have a plan for training Ruby? Why does that not surprise me? Then again I guess I can't really blame him, mom used to be friends with Summer and she apparently had silver eyes.
Yet mom didn't really know what she was capable of or even how her powers seemed to work for the matter. I wouldn't even know where to start if I were to train her. Until I met Ruby, I had never even seen someone with silver eyes, and I still haven't seen anyone use their powers so there's no way I could help her with her powers. I sighed as I continued back to my dorm. Then there's the fact that we have another enemy to worry about as well.
I know that Crimson's a lot more cautious than a few of the others that she had but . . . why would she send Crimson here? She already has King here, and I'm sure he's more than capable of doing whatever she has in mind. So why would she send Crimson here as well? It just . . . doesn't make sense to me. I sighed as I continued down the halls eventually reaching my dorm once again.
As soon as I entered the door Ayuri turned to look at me and smiled. I returned her smile seeing this, however I must have look troubled because when I did she sat up and looked at me. "What's wrong?" She asked as she looked at me.
"Was it really that obvious?" I asked as I looked at the female in front of me.
"No, but I'm good with people," She said with a smile causing me to laugh slightly. "So want to talk about it?" Ayuri asked as she looked at me. I sighed as I took a seat on my bed and nodded.
"Yeah," I said with a slight smile, I have to admit it's nice having this many people around me that actually care compared to my mom just telling me to deal with my problems, or that I need to learn how the word works if I want to survive. When I looked up I saw Ayuri looking at me with a smile.
"So apparently one of our professors was attacked," I said as I looked at the female in front of me. When I said this Ayuri seemed a bit concerned and looked at me.
"Are they going to be okay?" She asked as she looked at me and I shook my head.
"I don't know," I said as I looked at the female in front of me. We were never able to get rid of the fog. All we were able to do was delay it and it took a lot of our dust just to do that. Then again Beacon does have more people who are trained to deal with situations like these. So it's possible that they'll do better than we did. But unless they find a way to get rid of that fog, I don't think things are going to end well for professor Goodwitch.
"So, why did they ask you to come look at her?" Ayuri asked as she looked at me. When she asked this I tensed up and looked at her. I wanted to tell her the truth. However I don't think Ozpin would like that since he's trying to keep most of what's really going a secret. I understand that he doesn't want to tell others so that they don't try to change sides or so that he doesn't accidentally cause a mass panic, but he needs to learn to tell others what's really going on.
"He thinks," I began as I looked at the female in front of me. However I did I sighed. I couldn't do it, I couldn't bring myself to lie to her. She's been nothing but kind, and honest towards me. She even gave me vials of dust for free. I . . . I can't betray that trust. "He thinks, that the person who attacked me and the person who attack Glynda might be connected," I said as I looked at the female in front of her.
I might not have been able to tell her the truth but that was no reason to lie to her. "So what do you think? Are they?" Ayuri asked as she looked at me.
"Yeah, I told him that they probably were," I said as I looked at the female in front of me.
"Oh, so this King guy is really that bad huh?" Ayuri asked as she looked at me. I smiled hearing this and nodded.
"Yeah, he's pretty bad but I don't think he's the one that attacked her. I think it was someone else, something that King is friends with or at the very least someone that King works with," I said as I looked at the female in front of me. Ayuri nodded hearing this and looked at me. "Ayuri," I said gaining her attention. "There's . . . a lot more to this than what I'm telling. However I don't think I can tell you the rest at the moment. I promise I'll tell you everything when the time is right, just . . . not right now," I said as I looked at the female in front of me.
Ayuri seemed a bit surprised hearing this before she nodded with a smile. "It's okay, I understand," She said as she looked at me with a smile. As soon as she said this I smiled and watched as she reached for another magazine however before she could I once again spoke.
"Actually," I began gaining her attention. "There's something else I could use your advice on," I said as I looked at her. Ayuri nodded hearing this and leaned forward making it clear that she was listening to what I was saying.
"So, let's say you wanted to tell someone something, but you didn't because you were afraid it would ruin your friendship. What would you do?" I asked as I looked at the female in front of me. When I asked this she looked at me a bit skeptically.
"Do you have a crush on someone?" She asked as she looked at me. When she asked this I felt my face heat up and shook my head.
"No, nothing like that! But I can understand how you'd think that with what I said. No I meant, something else," I said as I looked at the female in front of me.
"Does it have to do with what we were just talking about? Because if it does then I'll still be your friend even after you tell me," Ayuri said as she looked at me and I smiled and once again shook my head.
"No, it's not that either. It's something else, something that's unrelated to what we were talking about," I said as I looked at the female in front of me. Ayuri nodded hearing this and looked up at the ceiling as if she were thinking about something.
"Well, I'm not really good with situations like these, but-" She began as she once again turned her attention back to me. "I would say it depends on what you wanted to say. If you think it's something that needs to be said or something that you thinks unavoidable then I would go ahead and say it. If you think it's important then you shouldn't hide it, and if it's unavoidable then it'd be better to just get to the point right?" Ayuri asked as she looked at me.
I thought about what she said for a moment and nodded. "Thanks Ayuri," I said as I stood up and began to make my way towards the door.
"Where are you going?" Ayuri asked as she looked at me.
"I need to talk to Yang," I said as I walked out of the door. When I did I began to make my way down the halls towards Yang's dorm. When I arrived I took a breath and knocked on the door. When I did I heard the same cheery voice from before.
"Come in," Ruby's muffled voice said from the other side of the door. I opened the door rather sheepishly and looked around for my sister, but I didn't see her.
"Where's Yang? I need to talk to her for a minute," I said as I looked at the three in front of me.
"She left just a bit ago. You could probably catch up to her if you hurry," Weiss said as she looked at me. I nodded hearing this and began to one again make my way down the halls of Beacon being sure to shut their door behind me. As I rushed I saw Yang slowly come into sight and smiled a bit.
"Yang," I said gaining her attention. "I'd . . . I'd like to talk to you for a minute," I said as I looked at the blonde in front of me. Yang nodded hearing this and walked toward me. I walked around a corner so that we were in a bit more private area. It didn't take long for her to come behind me and when she did she smiled and looked at me.
"So, what's up?" Yang asked as she looked at me. I took a breath hearing this and sighed as I thought about what I was about to tell her.
"Before I tell you, I want you to promise, not to get mad, or think differently of me or anything like that," I said as I looked at the female in front of me. Yang seemed a bit confused hearing this but nodded nonetheless. When she did I once again took a deep breath and sighed as I looked at her.
"Yang, I'm . . ." I began as I tried to gather the little courage I had. "I'm your brother," I said as I looked up at her a bit nervous. She seemed shocked hearing this and smiled slightly.
"Ha! You got me," She said with a smile. "I'll admit, that one got me off guard, and you were super convincing. I actually believe you for a minute," Yang said as she looked at me.
"Yang, I'm serious," I said as I looked at the female in front of me. Yang smiled hearing this once again thinking that this was some type of joke so I sighed knowing that I would have to prove it. "Your name is Yang Xiao Long, You're seventeen years old and you grew up on an island named Patch," I began causing her to look at me a bit shocked.
"You're father's name is Taiyang Xiao Long, and you're mothers name is Raven Branwen, and for a few years you had a step-mother named Summer Rose," I said as I looked at the female in front of me. I was hoping I wouldn't need to say anything else to prove my point and she looked shocked. "You also had a twin brother that you never got to see," I said as I looked at her and she once again looked shocked.
"You're . . . you're serious?" She said as she looked at me. I nodded hearing this and she seemed more than shocked. "I . . . I can't believe this," She said as she looked at me. I smiled nervously awaiting her reaction. Hopefully it wasn't anger because she's really strong and I just got out the medical wing and I'd rather not be sent back.
"What? I-I mean, I just . . . try to help me understand," Yang said as she looked at me and I smiled and nodded.
"Well, I was hoping to avoid telling you this for a while but I got some advice and decided against it. So . . . I guess I should start from the beginning," I said as I looked at her and she nodded. As she did I sighed and looked at her. "Okay, so what exactly do you know about me and mom?" I asked as I looked at the female in front of me.
"Not a lot," She said as she looked at me. "Dad told me that she just sort of left one day and took one of the kids with her. He said he didn't know where she went or why she just decided to leave all of a sudden," Yang said as she looked at me, I sighed hearing this and nodded.
"Yeah, that sounds like the version she told me too," I said with a sigh. "So mom left because she was . . . or rather she is dealing with some stuff. She didn't leave because she wanted to protect you or anything like that she . . . she left to save herself," I said as I looked at the female in front of me and Yang once again seemed shocked.
"Yeah, our mom . . . she's not a good person. She tends to only look after herself and others that are strong enough to take care of themselves. The only reason she took me was because she wanted a heir for the tribe once she had passed away," I said as I looked at the female. Yang once again seemed shocked by this and reached up to pinch the ridge of her nose.
"So . . . why did mom take you but leave me with dad?" Yang asked as she looked at me.
"From what she told me, it was because I looked more like her than you," I said a bit sheepishly as I looked at the female in front of me. When I said this Yang looked angry and I saw her clench her fists. "Did . . . did she ever talk about coming back? Did she even mention me? Did she regret what she did?" Yang asked as she looked at me. I looked down hearing this and nodded.
"No, she never talked about coming back. The only time she ever mentioned you was when I asked about you and dad, and I don't think she regretted what she did, or if she did then she didn't show it," I said as I looked at Yang. When I said this Yang once again seemed shocked by what I said and walked back to lean against the wall. After a few seconds she seemed to have calmed down and once again stood up.
"So, what do we tell Ruby?" Yang asked as she looked at me. I smiled nervously hearing this and shrugged.
"I . . . don't know, you can tell her if you want. If I'm being honest I didn't know she exited until we met, but . . . I think she has the right to know," I said as I looked at the female. Yang nodded hearing this, and she seemed a bit conflicted. "Are you . . . okay?" I asked a bit nervous as I looked at the female in front of me.
"Yeah, or no. I mean . . . this is just a lot to take in, you know?" Yang said with a slight smile as she looked at me. "I . . . I think I just need some time," Yang said as she looked at me. I nodded hearing this and went to walk away however before I could I felt Yang reach for my shoulder and stop me.
"Hey," She said as she turned me around to look at her. When she did she leaned forward and hugged me. I was a bit surprised by this and returned her gesture. "I'm really glad you told me this," Yang said as she stopped hugging me and began to walk away. I smiled hearing this and turned and began to walk back towards my dorm. I'm glad that she wasn't angry at me for hiding this from her.
She actually handled it a lot better than I thought she would. In fact she didn't seem to get angry at all whenever I told her. I mean she got angry at mom for all the stuff that she did and all the stuff that she didn't do, but I can't really blame her for getting upset about that. Whenever I first found out I was a bit conflicted on the subject but now . . . there's no way I can say that she made the right choice.
I can't believe how much different she is from mom, I mean when it comes to looks I guess they kind of look like each other, but when it comes to personality the two are complete opposites. Mom only cares about herself and those that are strong enough to take care of themselves. Yang's kind and I can by the way she stood up for me whenever I was fighting King that she's willing to help others.
Mom abandoned Yang and dad when they needed her most and allowed someone else to take her place. I . . . I can't even begin to imagine Yang doing something like.
When I reached my dorm I saw that Ayuri had already fallen asleep and one of her hands was hanging off the bed with a magazine in hand. I smiled seeing this and walked over to my own bed. It's been a long day, and I could really use some sleep. When I reached my bed I laid down on it and began to cover myself. I then closed my eyes and began to slowly drift off to sleep.
