"For all you newbies. This is the hospital on base. You bring slash treat injured soldiers here. Rarely will you see anyone else here." Sage starts to explain to her new soldiers who's first tour they had just started.

"Major Alister we need your help on a surgery. Also one of your men" A army doc says running over to her.

"Drew with me" She replies running, following after the other doctor.

"What do we got" Sage asks.

"Ambush we need your help treating two soldiers" a nurse says.

"Drew this is a through and through start stitching him up" Sage says observing the wound to the soldiers leg.

"She's got shrapnel imbedded in her arm" the nurse says catching Sages attention.

"What's your name?" Sage asks the lady lying in front of her.

"Captain Grace Zander" The solider lying in front of the doctor says.

"Drew I need your help. We need to get her outta this vest" Sage says.

So Drew rushes over to help his sister. Helping her lift the women lying there loosing blood with the possibility of dying. When they got the vest off they saw the shrapnel. It wasn't deep but it was big in number.

"Drew help me pull these pieces of shrapnel out" Sage says starting to work.

Drew steady handed starts working with her. He pulls a piece out.  Then another. And another. Wrapping her arm Sage gives her a pain killer. 

"Bring her to to the recovery ward" Sage says pulling off her gloves.

"Hell of a way to start our first day" Drew says.

"Yeah" Sage replies.

"That was awesome" A first timer says.

"Ohh uh thanks" Sage says.

"Guys you can go to you housing and get settled you have the rest of the night" Sage remarks.

Sage walks outta the hospital area, and the building. She heads towards her bunk, picking up her bags on the way as she hadn't yet put her stuff up.

She walks in and sees four beds with stuff already on them. An empty one on the top bunk of two of the three bunk beds.

"Hey I'm Shay Willows by the way" the lady from moments ago says introducing herself.

"I'm Major Alister, Sage Alister." Sage says.

"Wait so your our boss right?" Shay asks.

"Yeah" Sage replies throwing her stuff on the bunk about Shays.

"Drew, the doc who was helping me he's actually my brother." Sage adds. "My older brother. Captain Drew Alister"

"So you out rank your older brother?" She says  

"Yeah he thought I was joking when I told him" Sage says laughing.

That's when Sages phone goes off.  It was Brianna calling.

"Hey do you mind if my brother comes in here, it's his daughter calling" Sage asks.

"Yeah I can go get him if you want" Shay offers.

"Thanks Shay" Sage says Shay running to the "guys" bunk house.

"Hey Bri can you Skype my computer I have it set up" Sage asks as she hangs up with her Bri on her phone. It was 3 am in San Antonio making it 12:30pm in Afghanistan.

"Hey" Sage says to her Niece

"Hey" Brianna responds. "Dad"

"Shouldn't you be asleep?" Drew asks.

"Rick had to work. And I can't sleep. And I miss you. And I miss Sage.  And grandmas being annoying." Brianna says.

"Brianna" Drew says sternly.

"I miss you" She says.

"We miss you too" Sage says.

"Brianna call us when you have lunch it'll be 9 pm here it'll be better timing for all of us." Drew says.

"Fine" She says seeming mad.

"Rangers" Drew starts.

"Lead the way" She finishes.

"That's right. Talk to you later" Drew says ending the call with his daughter.

"Your daughter seems chill" Shay says.  "Also who's Rick"

"My husband. He's a retired Ranger after he had to have an amputation. But he's in SWAT which he loves." Drew says.

"Wait how can he" She starts.

"What?" Sage questions the women not finishing her sentence.

"Just seems crazy to be in that line of work in his situation" She says.

"You should see the guy. He's a total frickn badass" Sage says making Drew smile.

"Major Alister I'm lieutenant colonel Jack McFee, my unit is going out tomorrow we need two Medical personal on our convoy, also the boss would like to see you." Jack says entering the girls bunk.

"Captain Alister, Officer Cadet Willows, they will go with you on your convoy." Sage says

"Nice to meet you two" Jack says.

"You two know each other" Drew asks.

"He was there when Nikki died" Sage says leaving the bunk house.

"Sorry" Drew says.

"She lost a great friend that day. We all did. I was hoping she was back as a sniper we could use her skill around here" jack says sighing as he leaves.

"Major Alister you are being promoted to Lieutenant Colonel, dismissed" Her boss says without further explanation.

She leaves confused.

"So what did you do on your first day?" Jack questions.

"Managed to get promoted" Sage says. 

"We need to celebrate. Tonight wen the sun goes down we will start a fire. We will stay up till we all fall asleep" Jack says. 

"Sounds like fun" Sage says.

"Then it's settled" Jack says.

The drive back to the bunks was quite. When Sage enters the girls bunk she immediately got on to hers. Pulling out her sketch book she lie there drawing.

"Delivery for Lieutenant Colonel Sage Alister" someone at the door says.

"Thank you" Sage says after getting down from her bunk to receive her cello from the delivery person.

She stood it up leaning it against the wall in the corner.

Pulling out her drum pad and sticks she started drumming.
