It was the night before the sixth, the day of Brianna's concert.  The concert where she'd be playing the song dedicated to her aunt.  The aunt MIA in Afghanistan.

"I talked with my doctor. I'll be able to go to your concert tomorrow and hear you play that song" Drew says.

"I don't think I'm gonna go to the concert. Let alone play the song that was supposed to be for her" Brianna says.

"That's why you would. You'd do it for her" Jordan says walking in to check on Drew.

"Any word?" Rick asks.

"All I've heard is that they had to widen their search radius. They didn't find her or a body." Jordan says sadness in her voice.

She saw the pain Brianna was in. How Sage being missing affected her. But in all honesty the whole night shift was in pain. Sage was a light to the darkness they see in their line of work. She always brightened the mood.

"Also the whole night shift crew is going to hear you play that song" Jordan adds to her earlier statement.

"Which reminds me. I talked with your orchestra teacher Ms.Cassidy. She said you had permission for your teachers to stay with her all day until the concert after school." Rick says.

"Ok" Brianna responds.

The next day had arrived and Rick had driven Brianna to school.

When she got out she had her Cello in hand.

"Here" Jacob says opening the door for her.

"Thanks" Brianna says.

"Who's Cello is that? I thought yours was already here" Jacob asks having noticed the Cello she was carrying.

"It's. . . It's my Aunts" Brianna replies heading to the orchestra room.

"Oh I'm sorry" Jacob says.

"It's fine" she responds

"See you 4th hour" he says turning on his heels to head in the other direction.

"Good Morning" Ms.Cassidy says to Brianna as she enters the room. "Who's Cello is that?"

"Before my aunt left my dad to go get on the helicopter she told him to take her Cello and to give it to me to play in our concert. So this is it" Brianna says sitting down.

She starts unpacking the Cello setting the case in the Cello and bass room before going back to her seat.

"So we'll have you get up, go around the section and up the stairs and onto the stage.q" Ms. Cassidy explains.

"Ok" she replies.

"You will get through this I know it" Her teacher says.

"Drew" Jordan says happiness in her voice.

"Yes Jordan?" He asks.

"Sage, she's on her way back. She wants to surprise Brianna by playing a piece at her concert I already talked to her teacher and she's in." Jordan says.

"Where is she?" He asks.

"Finishing up things in Afghanistan before making the three hour flight" Jordan responds

"Have TC where his Uniform. All Ex military, military, reserves are wearing them" Drew says.

"Ok I'll let him know" Jordan says leaving his room.

"Ok that will be great" Ms.Cassidy says to the person on the other side of the call.

"I miss her" Brianna says.

"I know" Ms. Cassidy says trying to comfort Brianna.

It was 4 pm the concert started at 4:30.

"Ready guys" Melissa the concert master asks the group.

Responses were all versions of yes.

"Brianna I want to hear the two solos you were planning on playing" Ms. Cassidy asks "Ashokan Farewell and Bach's Cello Suite No. 1"

"Ok" Brianna says.

She first plays Bach's Cello Suite No. 1.

"Actually Melissa will join her for Ashokan farewell" Ms.Cassidy says to Melissa.

"Sure" Melissa says walking over to stand by Brianna 

"That was awesome you two" Jacob says.

"Thanks" Melissa says.

"Ok now let's go get seated in the lunchroom" The teacher says. "Cello and Bass's go first"

4:15pm

"Brianna switch with Ryan" Ms.Cassidy says.

"But I'm not first chair" Brianna responds confused.

"You are now" she remarks.

"Can I go talk to my dad" Brianna asks.

"Be back in five" Melissa says "that's when we will do a quick run through"

Brianna heads over to her dads who are sitting to the side with a bunch of military friends.

"How's my shining star" TC asks.

"I'm really nervous. Ms.Cassidy just made me first chair. And the solos. And that Sage won't be here. I miss her Uncle T" Brianna says to the Uncle figure in her life. Though she finds all of the nurses and doctors of the Night Shift to be that kind of figure in her life.

"Your aunt is here. In Spirt just know that" Krista says who was sitting next to Drew. 

"Yeah" She replies heading back to the orchestra.

"Lets tune" Melissa says standing up.

"Libertango" Ms. Cassidy says getting onto the podium.

The group plays it Brianna taking over Ryan's solo at the beginning.

"Cannon in D" She says.

The group plays it getting a huge round of applause from the audience.

"Stairway to Heaven" she orders

When they've finished playing that she moves to the next piece.  Oblivion the piece where Melissa had a solo. She stood up raising a stand they had set aside for her.

"Now for our the last two pieces we have Brianna" Ms.Cassidy says Brianna getting up onto the stage.

"So as some of you know my Dad Captain Drew Alister was shot in Bagram Afgainastan not even a week ago when the base was attacked by someone my aunt used to call a friend. In the search for that person my aunt, Lieutenant Colonel Sage Alister's helicopter crashed as a result of being shot down. She was the one who taught me to play the Cello. And before she left she said 'I can't survive over there with out my cello. Think of this as a way to connect with me.' And every time I play I feel like she's there watching. She's here with me. Even though she's not actually here. She started to teach me how to play this song before she got shipped out, challenging me to finish learning it before she got back. With the help of my teacher Ms. Cassidy and my best friend Melissa I've done it. Melissa this is for your mom too, who worked overseas with my aunt. This piece is for Captian Kara Riley and Lieutenant Colonel Sage Alister. As well as the other people who have helped me through this. Rick Lincoln, TC Callahan, Jordan Alexander, Paul Cummings, Kenny Fournette, Scott Clemmens, Shannon Rivera, Krista Bell-Hart, Syd Jennings, and Ananya" Brianna says sitting down pulling out her music.

'Calm down you'll do fine' Brianna told herself over and over again. She knew her aunt was there, in spirt.

She placed her bow on her string and started to play.

"Wahoo" Krista yelled amongst all the clapping.

"So she has one more piece but Brianna we have a special visitor who'd like to join you if you'd allow, Lieutenant Colonel Alister is walking in now" The Principle announces

"Brianna" Sage says running to hug her niece.

"Let's do this" Brianna says.

"You might need this" Melissa says letting Sage borrow her violin.

"1 and 2 and 3 and 4 and" Brianna says as the two start playing.

After the concert Sage returned Melissa's Violin to her.

"Melissa there's a little surprise waiting for you over there" Sage says. 

"Mom" Melissa says running over to Kara.

"Let's just say I told the boss overseas I wanted her to come home too" Sage says embracing her niece in a hug "let's just say when he needs a sniper for a mission I'm gonna have to go moments notice but it's worth seeing you and your friend happy"

"Thank you" Melissa and Brianna say.

"For?" Sage questions.

"Bringing my mom home" Melissa responds. 

"For coming home safe" Brianna say

"Welcome back" Jordan greeted Sage who had just entered the ER.

"I'm not exactly back" Sage replies leaving Jordan with a questioning look on her face. "What I mean is I will always be on call, when the army as a mission in the Middle East, every so often I will have to go over for a week or two at a time"

"Sage we love having you here. We don't have the man power but these people they will do anything for you. We are a family. We can work a schedule" Jordan says.

"I was hoping you'd say that" Sage replies.

"Lieutenant Colonel Alister, I didn't know you worked here" Her boss from overseas says when he walks into the ER.

"Yes sir I do, also overseas for you" Sage responds.

"We have a business proposal, we need our rangers trained medically and ready for the battle field, you guys have the most military doctors in your ER we want you to run a training center" Her boss proposes. "And when you aren't overseas is like you and your brother as well as this TC guy, who I've heard a lot about, to run it" he says.

"Yes sir" Sage says.

"Alister I just got word, they need you for a hostage rescue" Her boss says

"When do I leave?" Sage asks.

"In an hour" He responds.

"I just got back" saw responds.

"And I can send Captain Riley back if you want to stay" Her boss says.

"Drew I need to talk to you" Sage yells across the ER.

"What's up" He asks.

"I have to go back" Sage responds.

"You just got back" he states

"I know but it's complicated" She says. "I'll be back in a couple of days"

"I'll tell Jordan" Drew says watching Sage walk out of the ER.

"Lieutenant Colonel Alister glad to have you here, I'm Lieutenant Colonel Jackson Rhodes" Jackson says introducing himself.

"What's the mission" Sage asks getting to the point of why she's here.

"Whoa there tiger" one of the unit jokes.

"I just got back from here after a helicopter crash and I'm sent back over so my bad I just wanna go home" Sage snaps

"Tomorrow is when we raid the compound where they are holding Major Syd Jennings" Jackson says. "Be ready by o four hundred"

Jackson walks away his unit following.

"Thanks for saving me" Syd says to Sage when they got the women out.

"Yeah I just can't wait to go home" Sage says.

"Sage you need to get on a helicopter there's a hurricane heading for San Antonio. Go be with your family" Her boss says.

"Sir Major Jennings has a daughter in San Antonio" Sage says.

"Jennings your tour is over, go be with your family Alister you start treating her on the chopper" Her boss says.

The girls run to their bunks and pack up as fast as they can heading for the helipad.
