Part Two

The problem with self-righteousness is that it seems almost impossible to recognize it in ourselves. We will own up to almost any other sin but not the sin of self-righteousness. When we have this attitude, though, we deprive ourselves of the joy of living in the grace of God. Because you see, grace is only for sinners. ~Jerry Bridges

The blue-eyed angel cringed at the sound of Alastair's agonizing screams, his hands leaning on the edge of a silver table. Castiel was conflicted, part of him believed to a certain extent they really did need the information out of Alastair while the other part didn't like making Dean do the dirty work and didn't think the information was so important since it had come to this.

Despite the Winchester's sarcastic comments and feisty attitude, he respected Dean and was quite fond of him. He didn't like that he put him in his position but he didn't have a choice. At least that's what the angel thought.

The lights started to flicker, catching the attention of Castiel who looked up. The bulb blew out and Anna and Nadia appeared behind the angel who immediately was aware of their presence. "Anna. Nadia."

"Hello, Castiel." Anna greeted the angel, having not seen him in awhile.

Castiel glanced back at the two, surprised to see the redhead still in her vessel. "Your human body—"

"It was destroyed, I know." Anna walked toward him with Nadia by her side. "But I guess I'm sentimental. Called in some old favors and. . ."

Alastair's screams became more audible, grabbing the girls attention.

"Dean. . ." Nadia had a worried look in her eyes, her heart disappointed that they were actually able to push him into doing this.

"You shouldn't be here." Castiel still had his back faced toward the two. "We still have orders to kill you."

"Somehow I don't think you'll try." Anna walked around the table so Castiel could finally look at her. "Where's Uriel?"

"He went to receive revelation."

The redheaded angel had a look of suspicion in her eyes. "Right."

"Cas," Nadia made the angel look at her. "Why are you letting Dean do this?"

The scowl on Castiel's face showed that he didn't really want to talk about it. They could practically see the guilt all over the angel. He turned away from them, not even able to look them in the eyes. "He's doing God's work."

"Torturing?" Anna repeated, raising her voice. "That's God's work?"

"Stop him, Cas." Nadia was desperate. "Please."

"She's right." Anna agreed. "Before you ruin the one real weapon you have."

Castiel slid his hands into his trench coat pockets. "Who are we to question the will of God?"

"Unless. . ." Anna hated to say it. "This isn't his will."

Castiel looked up in denial. "Then where do the orders come from?"

"I don't know. One of our superiors, maybe, but not him."

"She's right, Castiel." Nadia agreed.

Having had a bit of a church background as a little girl, this wasn't God. It couldn't be. There's no righteousness in this. There's sacrifice but this sacrifice isn't worth it.

Alastair's screams could be heard even louder, causing Nadia to turn away not even be able to handle the sound.

Anna walks to up Castiel, looking him in the eyes. "The father you love. You think he wants this?" She started to question his belief. "You think he'd ask this of you? You think this is righteous?"

Castiel still couldn't look the redhead in the eyes.

"What you're feeling?" Anna was reading him like an open book. "It's called doubt." Anna reaches out and touches the angel's hand. "These orders are wrong and you know it. But you can do the right thing. You're afraid, Cas. I was too. But together, we can still—"

"Together?" Castiel yanked his hand away, anger gleaming in his blue orbs. "I am nothing like you." He said harshly, eyeing Anna in disgust as he walked around her. "You fell."

"Go." He turned his back.

"Cas." Nadia was going to approach him but Anna grabbed her hand, stopping him.

Castiel turned around a devious look in his eyes. "Go."

"No not without Dean." Nadia protested.

"Nadia." Anna made the girl look at her. "It's okay, come on." She assured her.

Nadia took one last look at Castiel, sorrow in her eyes as the two vanished.

Anna and Nadia sat across from each other, Anna watching the half angel fidget in stress. The condition, the mindset Dean was going to be in when all of it was said and done was all she could think about. He was getting better, he was learning how to cope and now they just pulled him back in.

All of that for nothing.

"I know you're upset," Anna spoke softly. "I know you're worried about Dean and I wish there was something we could do about it. If it makes you feel better, I think we can get one angel off his back."'

Nadia leaned forward on the table. "Who?"

"Uriel."

Hearing his name was like music to her ears. She would love to take down Uriel, however, it seemed Anna had a reason for going after him.

"Okay but why?" Nadia questioned.

"I think he's playing Castiel. I think he's working against the Angels."

"You do?"

"I know Castiel." Anna had a knowing look in her eyes. "He would never condone such a thing unless one, it was necessary and two, if Dean could handle it. Uriel has to be brainwashing him and sadly Castiel doesn't know it."

"You know, now that I think about it when they were in our motel room Uriel. . .he was the same douchebag as always but he talked as if he was in charge. It was almost like he was forcing what needed to be done on Castiel. It was weird."

Anna took her information before asking, "Are you in?"

"Yeah of course." Nadia nodded.

Just as Anna was about to speak, she looked up as if she was hearing something.

"Hey, what's wrong?" Nadia asked.

It was Castiel, he was calling her.

"Anna?"

"Castiel. . .he's calling me." The redhead answered. "Stay here, I'll be back."

Without another word, she vanished leaving Nadia at the table alone. With a sigh, the dark skin girl tapped her fingernails on the table, beginning her wait.

Her phone rang in her jacket pocket and she took out the device to see it was Sam.

"Hello?" She held the bridge of her nose.

"Nadia, hey. I found Dean."

"Yeah me too. I mean, I was where he was but I couldn't get to him but I heard it, Sam. I heard him torturing Alastair."

"Yeah, well Alastair won't be a problem anymore."

"What do you mean? What happened?" Nadia frowned.

"He escaped the devil's trap, he beat Dean up pretty bad. I was able to get there in time before he got killed. We're at the hospital now."

"Oh my god." Nadia let out a frazzled sigh. "Dean, is, is he okay?"

"He will be. He's in pretty bad shape but he's fine."

"And Alastair?"

"I handled it." Nadia knew exactly what Sam meant. "Where are you?"

"I'm with Anna." She answered just as the redhead walked up to the table.

"Who's that?"

"Sam, Dean's in the hospital," Nadia informed her.

"Uriel, I think he's going to try and get Castiel to be on his side. We have to end this."

"Nadia, you there?" The younger Winchester's voice rang in her ear.

"Yeah, Sam. Look, I'll be there soon. I have something to take care of."
