Lia's POV

It's been a day since we visited Maliea at the hospital. She hasn't come back to school yet which is sad. The group hasn't been the same without her here, nobody knows what's happening. but we were about to find out. Everybody was heading to their last period of the day. The only period I have with Anthony, with Mya as well. All of us walked into Science a minute late taking a seat next to each other as the teacher began to speak. "Class, Principal Jason has requested that all teachers tell you the reasoning behind Ms.Ames not attending school today. The doctors have concluded that Maliea has cancer." Some kids were crying, but I was just numb, what does she mean Cancer?... "Teacher, what kind of cancer does she have?" Anthony spoke, trying to hold in his tears. Soon, the teacher wrote the word "Leukemia" onto the board. She began to speak. "Leukemia is a type of cancer that starts in the blood-forming tissue, such as bone marrow, and what that does is it causes large numbers of abnormal blood cells to be produced and begin to enter the bloodstream."(Credit: Google) That's when the question I didn't wanna hear, got asked. "Is she gonna die?" One kid asked while Mya's hands shook just thinking about that. "She starts Chemotherapy tomorrow morning, there's no telling if cancer will go away in an instant, or grow over time." Is this real?... This has to be some type of dream or joke. This surely isn't happening, right? All class period, nobody talked, nobody moved. Everybody was numb and just depressed after that news was made public. "Anthony, Mya, we need to go see her after school." They both nodded in agreement. I wanted to cry, but I remembered what Maliea reminded me of yesterday. "Maliea is a fighter, guys please don't cry, because she's still here." I wiped Anthony's and Mya's tears away putting a fake smile on when in reality I can not live without Maliea Ames. We need her here with us. Anthony needs her.
