Abandoning Himself

Subject: Izuku Midoriya

Subject Notes - Subject at the time of notes is 10 years old. Quirk is Pyrokinesis. Threat level was severe, but it seems reconditioning was successful. Therefore, phase 2 will begin immediately after reevaluation. These notes will be recounting the details of our most important sessions.

Session Reports:

Session 1: 5 Years Old -  After vision is implanted, I lead the subject to a chair and watch his reaction. First internally, within the vision, and then externally, once the vision ends. He at first watched out of confusion, and then noticed his burning father, along with himself and his mother. He starts to show signs of distress and fear. Sweating, dilated pupils, making himself smaller, etc. After the parents are out of the picture, the only emotion is fear. At this point, I left the vision and began studying his external reaction. Sweating, clenching the arms of the chair, and shaking. I end the vision and his eyes snap open, clearly terrified and shaking. He begins to scream quite loudly. I ask if he understands why we're doing this, and if he'll go along with it. I get the expected answer of no, as well as proof I need to up the potency of my quirk's effects.

Session 14: 7 Years Old - Subject has been getting closer to his caretaker, and vice versa, so now I have access to a few new characters for these sessions. A Mitsuki and Masaru Bakugo, a couple that was friends with his parents, as well as former subjects. From what was told to me, Masaru was more efficiently dealt with then Mitsuki, but both were successful in reconditioning. This was the first session in which these characters were used, and reactions were similar to the first session, but they seemed amplified. Upon talking with his caretaker, I've learned that he sees these 2, or saw them as an aunt and uncle. The addition of these characters have vastly improved the efficiency of our sessions. It is clear I'll be using them much more often. The information I get from Eric is proving valuable. I would ask him to further develop his relationship with the subject, but he seems to be doing it naturally. This could be a sign of concern, so I'll be paying more attention to him from now on.

Session 25: 9 Years Old - Subject has... threatened me. He probably didn't realize it, but it raises much concern for my safety. Today, I added one new character, and I didn't realize how important this one was. It was a boy around his age, named Katsuki Bakugo. They had been friends before their admission, and I later learned through Eric that he had seen him as a brother, or even closer. I hadn't known this when I showed this vision, and this caused the effect to be undesirable. He stood up in rage and began yelling. About he would never do something like that, and at one point, told me, "How dare you bring him into this!". Subject didn't notice this, but he'd subconsciously activated his quirk, causing his hand to steam for a moment. It stopped when he stormed out and back to his cell. The sessions after today will be vital in the process, as one slip up could raise threat level back to severe.

Session 30: 10 Years Old - Today was the day. The final session of that of the reconditioning type. Reason being, he's finally submitted. His last few sessions have been intense, and he'd activated his quirk once more, thankfully not noticing it, so today, I changed the way his vision went. I gave him the power to "effect" it. His friends and family were alive, but barely, the fabricated version of him holding flames ready to sear them. However, everything was frozen, and I spoke to him within his vision, telling him that, "Today, you decide what happens." and sending him off. The first thing that he did was allow the vision to play out, when I assume he felt a sting on his hand. He looked down and his eyes widened as he realized his hands was wielding a flame. I watched him turn back to the vision and watched himself burn the ones he loved. Once finished, he was crying, and I reversed the entire situation and began to play it again. The tears intensified, as well as the flames on his own hands. And then, he quietly said, "If this is the cost of my powers... then I refuse to use them.". He then closed his hand and extinguished the flames. As he did this, I changed the vision to one of a much more peaceful one, his loved ones enjoying a nice day. "This is better then that. It's better like this... It's better this way." He told himself, and me. I ended the vision, and he looked at me with sorrow. "I'll comply." Is all he said to me.

Final Word: I believe it is time for phase 2, starting with his caretaker beginning an exercise plan, as well as teaching/rebuilding him in this way. Then, if successful, we'll begin phase 3 and introduce him to other phase 3 subjects.

Extra Note: Caretaker has developed a friendship with subject. This however is not something that will effect the final outcome of subject.
