Recovery
You woke up and it felt like you had molasses moving through your veins as you groggily returned to the land of the conscious. Everything was heavy and it felt like you were processing in slow motion. There was an annoying beeping sound and you felt hazy as you forced yourself to wake up. Your eyes flitted open and you narrowed your dull eyes as they adjusted to the bright white of the lights above you.
You felt constricted and brought your hand up to your face where there was a mask aiding in your breathing. You pulled it off and felt your chest constrict then breath in normally, the sterile smell of the hospital was blatantly evident. With a slow and forced movement you sat up and could feel the slight jolt of pain that would have been much worse if it weren't for the morpheme being pumped into your bloodstream.
Hatsume had her head lying on the edge of your bed, cradling the hand that she fixed in her arms. Her hair was thrown back into a messy ponytail and she was coated in a layer of grease from the endless hours she spent working, there was even still a screw driver clenched between her teeth-that you carefully pulled out and set beside her.
On one of the chairs in your room, Kayama was sleeping as well, out of her hero costume and into casual clothing. With a hiss you craned your neck to look at your back, hoping that what you were thinking was not true. A sigh of relief left your mouth as you saw heavily bandaged wings. You flexed one and although it hurt, you smiled knowing the pain means they still work.
They're still there.
A nurse walked into your room and when she saw you awake and sitting up she smiled politely.
"Hello [Name]-san, I'm Oda Sachiko you can just call me Sachiko-chan! I'm just going to check your vitals and bandages ok." She was in her mid 20's, had light silver hair that was pulled up into a small ponytail and big brown eyes that were striking like a smooth chocolate honey.
"Oh um, sure." She hurried to your side and maneuvered around Hatsume effortlessly as she checked over dials and changed out your drip.
"I'm happy to see you awake, you had some pretty nasty injuries but All Might saved you. Isn't that amazing!"
"Thank you, do you know anything about Shouta Aizawa? He was entered at the same time as me I think." Her smile softened but the bright look on her face never dimmed.
"Oh yes! He's actually a few rooms down. He hasn't woken up yet but from what Recovery Girl has said, he's a fighter and should be up anytime soon. You're his daughter right?" You breathed out and smiled, he is stubborn and you'd kill him if he let himself die like that.
"More or less."
"Perfect, as soon as he wakes up, I'll take you to see him!" The bright, yet calm energy she carried was peaceful and as she mindlessly talked to you about things, you felt yourself relax. "Ok [Name]-san I'm going to press along your stitches and you tell me if you can feel anything ok?" You nodded and felt as her fingers gently brushed against your back and then a searing pain as she pressed down along the edges of your wings. You grit your teeth and fisted the covers in your free hand.
"Ahh I can feel all of it." Her hands retracted and she smiled in sympathy.
"I know it sucked but that's amazing news, it means all the nerves are working and other than a few scars your wings should work just as well as before." Sachiko grabbed a roll of clean white bandages. "Please just relax and let me do all the movement for you so I can bandage everything properly." You let yourself basically go limp as she moved the bandages around and around covering the stitches and holding your wings in a resting position so they wouldn't be able to move without you putting in a lot of force. She replaced the cotton pad on your cheek as well before leaving to bring you food, promising to sneak in extra pancakes as well since you need the calories.
A little while later, Hatsume woke up to you watching Tv and she released her hold on you before hugging you.
"Hybrid you idiot! I go and make you the best baby in the world and you let it break!" In Hatsume language that was her way of scolding you for getting hurt. She was so worried she couldn't focus on anything but rebuilding your arm the three days you were out.
"Next time I'll be sure to break the other arm instead." You rolled your eyes and got a wide grin out of her.
"Perfect!" She gripped your arm and held it up to your face. "Now for the most important part! Look at this baby, new and improved arm of amazingness." You got a good look at the changes and she was right, it's amazing. Where the metal plates overlapped one another there was the faintest glow of (f/c) and it made no sound when you moved and flexed your fingers.
The metal was a lighter silver than what it was previously and a lot more smooth to the touch, it was so smooth it was almost soft as you ran your finger over the surprisingly not cold metal. There were no visible bolts and screws this time either and it was undeniably beautiful in the most exotic and badass way possible.
Hatsume is truly a genius at her age, and any age. As crazy as she is and the amount of failed projects she makes, its things like this that prove why she is the only one you'd let be your support teammate. "The joints are made out of a stronger alloy so it's a bit heavier but not by much, some of the wiring is connected to your nervous system and can directly send heat into your body when your temperature gets too cold which helps you and makes it so the metal doesn't freeze as easy and will last longer and not get stuck! Tell me how amazing I am."
"You're amazing."
"I know." Hatsume laughed happily and you followed suit with giggles of your own. Midnight woke up to the commotion and you found yourself locked into a painfully tight hug. She expressed her anger, worry, and relief all in the tight embrace and you let yourself melt into the loving hug. You squeezed your arms tightly around her body, letting that familiar comforting smell of hers fill your senses over the sterilized smell of the hospital. The slightest tremble in her fingers let you feel how terrified she was to find you and one of her oldest friends in such a terrible condition.
"You stupid little monster, how'd you let yourself get hurt like that. You following Shouta-kun's idiocy like that is extremely not cute. I was so worried for you both, and Yamada-kun was losing his mind. You're lucky he's not here right now or you'd be smothered to death. Good luck with him tomorrow, I'll be sure to watch as he cries all over you."
She pulled away only slightly so that her eyes could look directly into yours. "That being said, you're going to have to chat with a few people soon and I'd like to know what happened from your point of view so we can answer accordingly. Because of who you are and that there were some fatalities, they might try to twist it into you being villainous enough to be put in those ugly and boring prison cells. You're going to have to handle this situation precisely." So for the next thirty is minutes, you ate your newly arrived food and explained the entire situation to Midnight and Hatsume.
You went over the plan and the specific way you were supposed to word everything in your interrogation disguised as an interview from what happened.
"So Miss Tenshi-san, I know you are a native to America so would you prefer it if we had this conversation in English or Japanese? I need there to be no miscommunication between us." Detective Tsukauchi asked.
"It is up to you, I speak both just fine."
"Ok then, what area of the USJ were you sent to during the attack?"
"The landslide zone."
"There was 11 deceased villains found there, was that your doing?"
"Yes."
"Can you tell me why you killed all of those men when you could have just knocked them out."
"I was scared, Sho was fighting all alone against people with unknown strength and I wanted to help him. He's my family, the person who is there for me ad I would protect with my life. I've lost people from being too slow and those people were in the way. They were trying to kill me so I took them out so I could reach Sho faster and make sure he would be ok." Tsukauchi's hardened look softened just the slightest, his lie detector quirk was picking up on nothing.
You were being completely honest and the more he watched you talk, he could see that little passionate gleam in your eye. The one of someone who wants to protect the people they love, you really were worried enough to let yourself almost die to protect Aizawa. As much as he didn't condone killing, you were still learning and he understood the drive and need to kill someone if it seems like the only option. Not only that, you didn't hurt any of your classmates, you worked on protecting them as well and Tsukauchi noted down that you were not a threat to the people around you.
"Thank you Miss Tenshi-san, please be expecting to hear from me soon."

It was getting close to sunset when you were finally left alone. Hatsume had stayed with you most of the day, Kaminari came for a visit in which he brought you a stuffed dragon and some candy, Kirishima and Mina also came for a visit together and were relieved that you were ok and would be returning to school hopefully on Tuesday.
The biggest surprise was Izuku coming to visit. He had bandages covering his hands and legs from what you could see, apparently after you passed out he helped All Might and got himself pretty beat up. He blubbered like a baby but you couldn't even find it in yourself to be annoyed, you were more confused than anything. He was crying because he believed he could have done more to save you.
"I-I'm so sorry [N-Name]-san, if only I was f-faster, I could have done something. I was r-right there!" He bowed lowly to you through his blubbering. "PLEASE FORGIVE ME!" When Izuku looked back up, his watery emerald eyes met your extremely confused ones and he put on a shaky smile, breathing easier because you didn't look angry with him in the slightest.
"Why are you apologizing? It wasn't your fault."
"B-b-but." He stammered out
"It was my fault, I was weak, too slow. If I was stronger I wouldn't have gotten hurt, this is all on me." Your teeth grit in frustration, your fists were tightly clenched together and you felt such disappointment in yourself. You had never let yourself be so weak before, all you could think of was what punishment you'd receive for this failure of epic proportions, something bad enough to cause a fearful shiver down your spine. "Next time. Next time I won't be weak. I won't lose, not again."
Izuku noticed the way your gaze hardened and how tense your body language was, he hesitantly reached out and held your hands in his, giving you a more confident and determined smile.
"[Name]-chan, you're not weak. You're really strong, even All Might had difficulties. If it were anyone else, they'd probably be d-dead. Losing doesn't make you weak, not trying at all is what makes you weak. So don't think so badly and next time, we'll both be stronger ok?" The curly haired boy was blushing a bright red, but there was nothing but determination radiating off of him. You felt warm, he really believed in you, even failing he told you that you were strong. It was nice, it helped you think that maybe he was right and your parents were wrong, strength doesn't always mean winning.
"Ok." Midoriya looked down at your hands in his bandaged ones and let go quickly, lacing his fingers behind his back and flushing even brighter at the though of himself being so bold just to try to comfort you when it seemed like you needed it. You were surprised by his erratic, nervous movements and how bright his face was getting.
"Wahh I-uh-I need to umm get going! B-bye [Name]-chan!" He shuffled out of your room hurriedly and that left you alone and to your thoughts until night when Sachiko entered your room with a kind and excited smile on her face.
"[Name]-san guess what! Aizawa-san is awake, lets get you to his room." She attached the IV to a portable stand and carefully eased you off the bed, her hands gently holding you like you were a small child. You pressed your bare feet to the chilled floor and then slipped on the slippers she left out for you. Your legs were slightly shaky, but they were strong enough for you to walk on, the only problem was with each step, small jolts on pain erupted against the upper part of your spine. "Hey, take it slow [Name]-san, you'll get there soon enough. I don't want you to push yourself ok sweetie." You huffed but slowed down a bit, easing the pain substantially.
"Fine, uhm thank you for, ya know, helping me." Her smile brightened on her face at the small smile you gave her.
"Of course! It's my job after all." She leaned in like she was telling you a secret. "Don't tell anyone but...you're one of my favorite patients ever, you're so adorable and such a sweet girl." Nobody had ever considered you sweet, it was an odd notion but it was nice, Sachiko is nice. You felt like everything she said was full of honesty but it baffled you, nobody was as nice and welcoming as she is with everybody.
All the nurses waved at her when she did, although you saw some roll their eyes at her. She was blindingly optimistic but it was nice, and she was commanding, like everyone listened to her but only because she was so good at what she did not because she demanded people to listen to her.
"This is his room, also a little birdie told me this is his favorite drink. You can give it to him ok!"
The door to Aizawa's room was pushed open and your mouth opened and you let out a giggle. He was covered head to toe in bandages, he looked so dorky. His blood shot eyes looked over you and then locked onto your eyes, narrowing in anger.
"You look terrible." He grunted out, the anger and relief in his tone obvious to even you. You smiled.
"You look worse."
"I don't doubt it." Aizawa leaned back into the bed slowly and crossed his arms over one another. "You know you are grounded, I wanted for life, you better be glad Kayama and Hizashi talked me out of it. What kind of idiot are you, jumping into battle to save me. Your still a child, I don't care how strong you are, don't ever recklessly throw your life away that is not heroic, it is idiotic. If I die then I die but you damn well wont die with me for being a dumbass." His tone was stern and though his speech was muffled by the bandages and you couldn't make out his facial expressions, you still understood everything he was trying to convey.
"What if it was me? Would you have jumped in to save me?"
"Yes." His answer perplexed you, your eyes bore into his demanding an answer.
"Then why can't I do the same?" He sighed and slowly ran his hands through his dark messy locks.
"Because you're still a child. You still have the world to experience. I wouldn't be a good hero or a good guardian if I allowed you to die for me, my job is to die protecting you not the other way around, Got it." You nodded, moving closer and sitting on the edge of the bed.
"Got it." Aizawa's hand reached up and landed on your head and he ruffled your hair. You pulled out the strawberry flavored jelly drink and handed it to Aizawa, the angry look in his eyes softened slightly and he took it gratefully, sucking down the drink quickly, enjoying the flavor in his mouth, much better than the previous taste of blood that seemed to linger from the battle.
The door swung open and Recovery Girl entered with a slightly morbid smile.
"Out of all the teachers, you were who I thought was smart enough not to go and almost die like that, but all things aside you did a good job Aizawa-chan. Thank you for protecting the students." Her lips stretched out and kissed Aizawa right smack dab on the cheek, a loud and wet smooching sound coming from the action. She gave him one more and then turned and did the same to you, giving you a sweet smile. Almost instantly, the ache in your body faded into a dull thrum but your entire body was now heavy with exhaustion. "I'm sorry I can't do more, but there is limits to my quirk as well. Rest up, tomorrow you should both be able to return to school, don't forget to come back tomorrow afternoon for a check-up with sweet little Sachiko-chan."
"Thank you for your help Recovery Girl!" Aizawa stated honestly, his voice slow and raspy from the new surge of exhaustion though he has only been awake for a few hours.
"I better not see you anytime soon Aizawa-chan, you too [Name]-chan. I don't need anymore troublesome patients." The elder scolded the both of you with a passive aggressive smile never leaving her wrinkled features.
"Yes ma'am." She nodded in acceptance at the answer from your surrogate father and then merrily walked out the room. Aizawa could see how tired you were, your eyes were fluttering slowly and every time they closed too long you seemed to be forcing them open. "Ao, go back to your room and go to bed don't be an idiot and force yourself to stay awake. I will be here when you wake up." You rubbed your eyes and stood up, stumbling slightly and using the stand to the drip bag as your support. To Aizawa and Sachiko you looked slightly like a young child trying to stay awake past their bedtime but failing; though Aizawa wasn't feeling any better than you.
"Mhm...night Sho." You gave him a sleepy smile, glittering lilac eyes checking over his form once more just to make sure he's ok before leaving with Sachiko who was giddily smiling at what she considered as the most adorable exchange. When other doctors were wary to help you because of who you were, she knew they were wrong and this confirmed it. You were just a kid that was in need of guidance and is still on the path of discovering herself and the good in the world, something she wants to help you with. And now she has the perfect idea how.
"Yeah yeah, good night kid." When you were out of the room, Aizawa's eyes closed completely and he succumbed to sleep, but not before letting the smallest of smiles grace his bandaged face: you were safe and you finally were finding a reason to fight, no matter what anyone has to say about it; he is proud-angry at your idiocy and getting hurt-but proud nonetheless. The knowledge that you-and of course all of his other 1-A students were safe-helped the man fall asleep with ease.
A/n: Yay some more bonding and stuff, new and exciting things soon. Who do you want more interaction with? Thank you for reading and liking this story. I will keep doing my best to make it interesting and if there is anything specific you want just let me know and I will try to add it in! Enjoy this little filler, I think Aizawa and your interactions are super cute. Also Sachiko won't be a main character but she will occur sometimes because I have something important planned with the hospital!!
