Heroes and heart to heart's

Your eyes opened slowly, a raging headache pounding through your skull and before you could fully process where you were, golden eyes were hovering directly over your face. Oh yeah that's right... you remember being knocked out from training with Kaminari at the park and by the looks of the abundance of random junk, you're in his room now.

"I'm so sorry [Name]-chan I didn't realize I could produce that much now! Ugh I'm the worst guy ever, hurting a cutie like you!" Kaminari freaked out when he finally came to and realized he'd knocked you out, but him being around you so much you could tell he was bursting with excitement about how much his voltage output has increased since you started training together.

"Its fine, it's not like it's the first time." You waved him off and sat up, shutting your eyes at the dizziness that came from the massive shock earlier. "And stop with that stupid -chan shit, I told you it's annoying." Kaminari handed you half a sandwich he took a bite out of the other half.

"Ahh but [Name]-chan it sounds so cute just like you!" He punched your cheeks and moved them around happily. You never understood his reason of calling you cute whenever he could but his flirting was like second nature for him with you and neither he nor Hatsume wanted to explain what he was doing, they enjoyed your naivety so you just let it happen.

You noticed people using honorifics at the end of names a few days into school and because Aizawa and your other mentors never felt the need to with you, knowing that since you lived in America and never had proper etiquette that it was a waste to explain. Plus midnight just wanted to see how people would react to you not using them so she never taught it to you. Hatsume taught you different honorifics and their uses but to you it just made saying names extra long so you never used them and requested nobody use them for you either.

"Whatever, did you go into idiot mode again?" You asked, taking a large bite out of the sandwich. Kaminari rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly before smiling.

"Yeah but it took way longer this time!" For the next 10 minutes you ate and discussed what happened in training today, going over every detail and what you needed fixed. Kaminari was pretty clueless on most of what you were saying and instead just smiled and nodded like he understood, his exes fixated on you as you talked. He'll never regret the day you guys met, since then the three of you have been best friends and him and Hatsume love teaching you about the world while still trying to keep you as in the dark as possible, not that it mattered people and customs still confused you to the max.

So many years of stunted emotional growth has made you 'special'. Your random and blunt questions and reactions to things never ceased to entertain them and after over 2 years of school together, you had finally started becoming less like a robot, and more like a kind of rude alien or something. Kaminari and Hatsume both have wild and vibrant personalities and while you are more of an abnormal person who follows whatever they tell you to do for the most part while still making your own decisions.

You let out a small laugh at Kaminari and checked the time. You were already 10 minutes late in meeting Hatsume to go over your designs for your hero costumes the UA applications ask for. When Hatsume came over to your house for the first time, she awed Aizawa with her support ideas skills and after a while, when he stopped grumbling about her loudness, he became fond of the girl. Not that he'd ever mention it's because she is friends with you and he likes to see you happy. So when your final year of middle school came around, he gave her a recommendation into UA's support program so she'd have no issue getting in.

You were also recommended by Hizashi, Prinicpal Nezu needed to prove to the school board you should get in and with the glowing recommendation letter by Hizashi, you were accepted and now only have to take the recommended students entrance exam to see where you place among your classmates.

Kaminari was not written a recommendation letter (mainly for the fact that both of your surrogate dads did not like him spending so much time with you even if he was nice) so they made sure Kayama didn't write him one. That didn't really matter because after helping the both of you train together, Aizawa wanted the lightning boy in his class and already knew he would get in (not by the written scores thats for sure).

You and Kaminari arrived soon after you realized you were late. Hatsume didn't really care, she was too caught up in one of her new invention ideas to realize you weren't there. She finally noticed you guys when Kaminari zapped her.

"Geez Mei-chan, why don't ya stop being so in your own world for a second and greet us." He teased the pink haired girl wearing steam punk goggles and surrounded by papers with random designs and Hatsume's chicken scratch writing you couldn't read.

"Hybrid, Sparky took you long enough to show up."

"My bad." You shrugged blandly. She popped up quickly and circled both of you, her hands clasped together and a wide grin on her face.

"I have so many ideas already, my babies are going to be perfect on your hero costumes."

"I want something super simple and hot that will get all the fine ladies to check me out not one of your crazy designs. I'm not looking to die before [Name]-chan falls in love with me." He posed and sent a small bit of lightning to his hands to show off.

"My babies are perfect, they are never crazy."

"Oh yeah, the last one you made almost blew [Name]-chan's arm off. I might be dumb but I know that wasn't supposed to happen." Kaminari and Hatsume started their bantering again and you watched with fondness.

"Minor details, her arm is fine right Hybrid?" Hatsume threw her arm over your shoulder.

"Yeah and if it blew off Mei would make me a new one." You shrugged carelessly, stretching your wings out to feel the sunlight on them more.

"This is why I like [Name] better than you battery boy."

"Man you really are so selfish!"

"Yeah Yeah." Hatsume waved her hand carelessly. You were perplexed at creating your own costume and it seemed like fun to get Mei to design it with you. You'd help but your F in art class says otherwise.

Art class

"Ok class!" The short lady with large glasses and a quirk that let her color anything with her fingers clapped her hands together to get your attention. "Today we are painting something from your childhood so just think back to a powerful memory and let it flow through you." Hatsume got all of your supplies for you and explained what art is. After that, she hurriedly went ahead to painting something that was probably her first baby or something.

You picked up a large brush and stared at your canvas thinking back to childhood. One memory stuck out over the rest and you dipped your brush in a deep crimson red color, covering the canvas entirely in the color. At the end of class you were all required to show your painting and talk about it. When it was your turn, you held up the red canvas and the teacher looked at you in questioning.

"Uh Tenshi-chan what is that exactly?" She didn't want to say it was bad...but it was bad. An entirely red canvas wasn't art...for most people.

"This is blood, my childhood was filled with it." You didn't smile or frown, it was just a statement and she flinched back even when she knew you were mostly harmless now. Kinda like a puppy that looks scary yet is super sweet.

This teacher looks at me weird too...

Hatsume laughed loudly, enjoying you look at the teacher like she was an idiot for asking. A few students stepped further away from you and you ended up getting an F on the project. Apparently that is not a 'school appropriate' painting. Your art teacher quickly learned you had a very unimaginative mind for creating art and you failed every single project, spending more time asking what things were than painting them. She didn't know that your questioning what things were was because you had never heard or seen them before and actually had no idea not that you were just not creative.Trying to explain flowers was a fun day for Hatsume.

You laid on your stomach watching Hatsume sketch out drawing after drawing of hero costumes for you. Kaminari was done with his pretty quickly and you thought it had turned out really cool, it would look perfect on him.

"No make it a super tight body suit." Your face scrunched up at the idea of wearing a skin tight latex or leather suit that Kaminari wanted to see you in.

"No way in hell." You waved it off, that sounded like a great way to not be comfortable...plus it would be too much like Kayama and that was a no-no.

"But Angel face you would look so hot!" You ignored him for the time being, your glowing purple eyes fixated on the drawing as your long curly hair fell over your shoulder.

"Oh what if it's a short fireproof skirt or something light like that so that you can fight freely and there wont be any heavy fabric holding you down when you fly." You nodded at Hatsume's idea. She was quick to sketch it out.

"Ohh yeah and give her a tight top with something cool on it." Hatsume continued her sketch with Kaminari's input, her genius brain whirring with possibilities on the coolest and most effective suit.

"It can't have a back so my wings can stretch out fully." You added in as they continued designing your hero costume.

"Ohh and since you get super cold when you absorb heat for your quirk I'm going to add in lightweight heaters."

"You need a super cute mask [Name]-chan." You shrugged, a mask might be a good idea. Not like it would hide your identity unless it covered your hair and made your wings invisible...but it would still be cool.

"Yeah and I'll put lenses in it so you can see better when super high in the sky." When Hatsume finished and added in all of the measurements you took a look at the design and a small smile formed on your rosy lips. It was perfect and they both seemed to think so too.

"It's badass. I like it." You smiled as they cheered at the finished product and emailed it off to UA.

You were sitting on the couch eating a slice of pizza besides Aizawa who was chilling in his yellow sleeping bag while you watched a movie together. The family in the movie was so loving and happy, they smiled and cared for one another and watching that made your chest hurt. Was this what your family could have been, is this what love really looks like? Everything started to ache in your chest and your eyes were hot, they burned. Your hands went up to clutch at your hair, trying to soothe the pain. Sometimes it happened, usually when you were exhausted but the panic came. You hated it.

Your thoughts were running rampant and Aizawa noticed your duress when you were breathing extremely shallow. Your normally vibrant eyes were back to that dull purple from when he met you and there were tears streaming down your face even though you didn't notice. He unzipped himself from the bag and kneeled in front of you. You didn't notice as you focused on the deep sadness that was plaguing your mind and body.

"Kid what's wrong?" Aizawa's voice brought you back to reality and you stared at him with watery eyes.

"It.. h-hurts but I don't know..." Your voice was cracking and you hiccuped as you cried out. "Shou help." He knew you were in no physical pain, the cracked expression that broke through was easy to read. Sometimes you'd forget, when you were too tired it would bring you back to being younger, being the girl who had just lost her parents and didn't know what anything was. It was a pain in the ass.

"You're sad, remember I said when you're sad it hurts even if not physical." He was bland and direct. Your teary eyes looked up to meed his dry and slightly red ones as he talked to you, explaining your feelings so you didn't get more upset at not knowing. "What are you thinking about?" You pointed to the screen. Aizawa wanted to leave, he hated feelings and seeing kids freak out, normally he'd be gone by now to leave you with someone else but you were his...kid and he would take care of you. But no, Shouta Aizawa was not soft.

"Why didn't my family love me like that? What if they loved me like that but I killed them? It's my fault. I don't understand why it hurts. I can-n't." You moved to curl into his lap, you were still small enough. Mistreatment and training to young can do that. He stiffened, growling at your dead family for all the shit they caused.

"Shut up, you're wrong." His voice was firm but it was kind and warm as he talked into your hair. Aizawa had been waiting for this moment since you moved in with him, as much as he wanted someone else to help him deal with a crying teenage girl, you were his to care for now. You were so emotionally constipated it was only a matter of time before you had lost it.

Aizawa sat on the couch and you curled yourself into his lap, his hand stroked between your wings to calm you down as you let out all the tears you hadn't cried.

"You did nothing, your family was screwed up, they weren't capable of love." He sighed, deciding to open just enough to get you to stop. The overprotective feeling he got when you cried was annoying and he wanted it gone. "Besides, you have a... better family that... loves you for you." Your hands clutched into the fabric of his shirt, your head tucked into his chest as you slowed your breathing and mumbled to him in genuine curiosity.

"Do you love me Shou?" You waited patiently for him to answer, he doesn't treat you like the people on TV but if you had a family, you felt like maybe him Hizashi and Kayama were family. The warm feelings you got with them, was that what love felt like? He let out a big sigh, his cheeks flushing slightly from having to admit that to you. You couldn't read social cue's so unless he told you, you'd never know.

"Hmm" It was a yes, you both knew it. "The loud idiot and Kayama love you too." The pain subdued mostly, there was still an ache but it was down to the size you could push it away, just like everything, push it away until it comes up in a storm. Your face felt hot and you thought about the happy feeling that went through you at his words.

"I think I love you guys too." Aizawa stayed with you cradled in his arms, your body was bigger than the last time he held you but it was still light as a feather. You felt his hands rub your back and fingers run through your hair undoing the tangles. It felt safe and warm and you felt drained from all the stupid crying, the comfort of his embrace lulled you to sleep. Aizawa felt your breathing even out and he knew you were sleep, probably going to be pissed tomorrow for crying but at least for now you seemed to be ok. He picked you up and carried you to your room, laying you down and tucking you in. He hated himself for being so caring.

"Night Ao" (A/N Ao means blue btw so thats what he calls you).

You woke up the next morning slightly annoyed with yourself at crying over something so stupid. That feeling of needing a punishment sprung forward but you pushed it down as much as you could.

Thats not my life anymore...

You got up and brushed your teeth, put on some black ripped jeans and slid your wings through the holes in the back of a t-shirt before pulling it over your head. Your hair was a slightly unruly mess and it looked funny enough to make you smile at your reflection. With ease, you put your hair into a messy bun, your bangs falling out and went into the kitchen where Aizawa and Hizashi were having a fun talk. You looked between the two and shrugged before gliding into the kitchen and pouring yourself a bowl of cereal and grabbing microwaveable pancakes.

"Yooo little Cyborg you ready for today?" Your eyes turned to meet his and you cocked your head slightly, a habit you learned to show when you were confused and waiting for someone to elaborate. Hizashi's smile fell slightly and he pouted, Aizawa smirked beneath his scarves. "You forgot we were supposed to go out today didn't you little listener."

"Yep." You took a bite of your food waiting for the dramatics to come. You didn't get to go out to the city all that much, even with living under Aizawa's watch you were still on a watchlist and public outings were few and far between until you have fully proven yourself to the government that you are not a threat to public safety so going out is exciting. Too bad you completely forgot you were supposed to go out today.

"My heart, you wound me, I'm gonna let out my sorrow through song." Aizawa's hand clamped over the blonde's mouth, red glowing from around him as he cancelled the possible quirk usage.

"I will throw you out the window." He removed his hand and went back to looking over his lessons for the day.

"We're on the 4th floor!" Hizashi shook Aizawa by his shoulders in a false panic.

"Exactly." You let out a giggle at their arguments, it never ceased to make you laugh at the meanness and comedic dramatics of your family. The sound was music to Aizawa's ears after your sobs yesterday.

"Where are we going today?" You questioned curiously.

"We're going to try this new place that opened, it only serves desserts!" Your eyes practically glowed with excitement as you hopped out of your seat and put your shoes on.

"Really?" You were at the door ready to take the train downtown.

"YEEEEAHHH!" Hizashi's voice echoed through the room and you could feel it vibrating through the metal in your body. Before you left, you ran back and gave Aizawa a hug and then ran out the door. The train ride was filled with Hizashi telling you stories about his students and how idiotic they are. At the dessert bar you ordered as much as Hizashi would let you and when your food came out, the entire table was filled with desserts.

"Little cyborg?" Hizashi hadn't taken a bite of food, instead he was intensely studying you.

"What?" You asked with a mouth full of food.

"You know I love you right? You're my family ok." He gave you a smile, the light reflecting in his glasses. He was more outspoken with his affection, he screamed them often and was always truthful but this one felt the most sincere.

"I know. Shou told me yesterday." Your cheeks felt flushed as a warm happiness flooded your body. You felt stupid for feeling so warm by some stupid words.

"And..." He prodded trying to get you to say it back...or at least something. You missed the hint.

"And what?" Hizashi sighed at your response, you were so socially inept sometimes he didn't know what to do with you, even Aizawa was less dense as a kid.

After finishing your desserts (and cleaning out his wallet) you went on a walk with Hizashi and he took you to the hospital to hold the babies. You don't like things that cry and babies were so small and weak but when you saw the babies in the hospital, you felt your heart melt slightly. One baby was looking at you, she had lilac hair that reminded you of Kyomi and you somehow ended up with her in your arms. "See this, this innocence of these children is what I protect being a hero." The lilac haired girl gave you a gummy smile and her small hand gripped around your index finger. A small breath left your lips.

"I think... I think I understand." You had flashbacks to Kyomi's death and that broken feeling of watching her die right in front of you returned. You didn't want that feeling ever again, you weren't going to let anyone you cared about die again. After hanging with the babies, Hizashi took you out to train with him. By the time you got home, it was well into the night and Hizashi was holding your sleeping form. Aizawa was out on a night patrol helping the police solve a case so Hizashi was in charge of you all night. He smiled largely at your peaceful face as you snuggled more into his arms.

"Night my little cyborg. I love you." He tucked you in and went to sleep, having to get up early for his radio show and teaching tomorrow. You opened your eyes slightly seeing his retreating from.

"Mmm. Night Zashi. I love you too." Your purple eyes gleamed slightly before you fell back asleep missing the fond smile that grew on his face.

"Man, you're too cute for your own good. I might have to hide you from the boys when you start high school." He chuckled thinking about it. "And with you not knowing anything about that stuff, I think Aizawa might just kill anyone who tries to date you." He flicked the lights off and went to sleep on the couch.

A/N: Sorry this chapter is a bit short, It was more to see the relationship progression between everyone so I wanted to get rolling into UA I have so many plans. I hope you like it so far!
