Chapter 8: Old Town

Anna walked out from the bathroom, all fresh and clean, towel draped over her damped hair and looked around her room for her husband. Her eyes landed on the balcony and saw Leo sitting by the table, waiting. Wearing a beautiful smile on her face, she strolled towards the balcony to join her husband for breakfast.

"Buongiorno, Mio coure,"

"Buongiorno, Mio amore,"

Leo chuckled softly as he stood up from his chair and came in front of Anna. He cupped her cheeks and placed a soft kiss on her lips.

"We're leaving Paris after breakfast," Leo said making her creased her brows at him. "We're going somewhere, and will be spending our one-week honeymoon there," He told amusedly before pulling out a chair for her to seat.

"And where are we going?" Anna asked slyly on the process of sitting.

"It's a surprise," Leo winked at her before sitting back on his chair.

After an hour later, Leo and Anna were on the flight in their private jet. Leo stared at her with complete amusement while Anna watched him with narrowed eyes. She has been persistently asking about the destination to her husband but Leo was never telling her.

Leo let out a chuckled before extending his hand towards her. Anna sighed softly before keeping her hand over his. Then he pulled her towards him and placed her over his laps.

"You'll know when you get there and I'm sure you're gonna love it." Leo said softly and placed a kiss over her forehead. Anna smiled at him before leaning and resting her head over his chest.

"I love you, Leo," Anna said softly as she closed her eyes and listened to his heartbeat.

"I love you too, Mio coure," Leo said, wrapping his arms around her and placing a kiss on top of her head.

Anna's eyes filled with unshed tears as she took in the familiar places passing by. She could feel the nostalgic emotions building up inside her. She couldn't hold anymore and let her tears fell down her cheeks.

"It's been five years and everything's still the same." Anna said under her sniffles and wiped her tears away. "Is it because of what I told you last night? That's why you planned on bringing me here." She said quietly looking at Leo.

"That is also one of the reasons. I brought you here because this is the very place where we first met—where our path crossed, and we fell in love." Leo said softly and cupped her cheek. Anna smiled under her cry and threw her arms over him, embracing him tightly.

"Thank you so much for bringing me here, honey. Thank you," Anna said softly and embraced him tightly. Leo chuckled softly before wrapping his both arms around her.

Soon the driver pulled over and parked the car in front of the entrance of the mansion. Leo and Anna got out from the car and strolled towards the entrance. Anna smiled widely as she stood in front of the entrance door with her arms crossed over her chest and gazed at it.

"This is the very place we first encountered each other." She reminisced.

"What was your first impression on me when you saw me?" Leo came beside her and asked amusedly.

"Honestly, I felt uncomfortable with your eyes shamelessly checking me out and I thought of you as a pervert," Anna answered under her laugh.

"Well, I couldn't help myself from checking you out back then. You were looking so cute and adorable." Leo drawled amusedly.

"And you fell in love with me at first sight because of that," Anna said proudly and smile at him.

"And you didn't?" Leo asked.

"Nope,"

"But still you fell for me as days went by," Leo smirked.

"It's because you were being a persistent." Anna snapped playfully. Leo narrowed his eyes at her. "And I'm glad for that. Thank you for not giving up on me." She said and placed a quick peck on his lips.

Leo chuckled heartily and curved down, lifting his beautiful wife on his arms. Anna gasped at his sudden move and smiled widely before wrapping her arms around his back-neck.

"No matter what happens, I would have never given up on you, my love," Leo said as he strolled inside the house and made his way to their bedroom. He laid her on the bed and joined beside her. "Get some rest for a while, Mio coure, and I'll take you to Clary later,"

"She's still here?" Anna asked, to which he nodded in reply. "Take me to her now, I want to see her so much," She pleaded.

"Alright,"

Leo pulled over his car in front of a building and both of them got out of the car. Anna gazed at the building ahead and read the board as 'Dental Care Center'. She then looked at Leo who gave her a knowing look. He came beside her and placed his hand over her back.

"You ordered your men to look into her, don't you?" Anna asked looking up at him.

"I did," Leo answered honestly.

"Do you think she'll forgive me? I left without a word." Anna asked quietly.

"She understands your situation, honey," Leo said softly and placed a kiss on her temple.

"Anna,"

Anna snapped her head at the familiar voice and soon unshed tears started building up as she looked at her best friend, standing some distance away from her.

"Clary," Anna quavered and in a flash, both of them were into each other arms and cried silently.

Clary pulled away and rested both her hands over Anna's shoulder. "It's been so long, you were gone all of a sudden and now here you are. I miss you so much, Anna." Clary yelped under her cry and hugged her again.

"I miss you too, Clary."

Then they pulled away and shared soft laughter as they wipe each other tears away.

"I was so worried about you when I discovered what actually happened. I wanted to reach you but there was no sign of you. You don't how happy I am to see you now, Anna." Clary said under her sniffles.

"I'm so happy to see you too, Clary." Anna said softly and cupped her cheek.

"Anna, is that really you?" Peter asked in an unsure tone as he made his way towards them with his one-year-old baby girl on his arms.

"Peter," Anna said in surprised and covered her mouth with both her hands.

"Oh my god, Anna, it's you," Peter squealed happily and gently hugged her. "I'm so glad to see you again after so long," he said softly before pulling away.

"I'm so glad to see you too, Peter—and you are with a baby," Anna said sweetly gazing at the baby girl on his arms.

"Anna, meet Lola, our baby." Clary said in a sheepish smile.

"Oh my god!" Anna gasped in surprised under her hands. Peter and Clary were married, and they have a baby girl already. "I'm so happy for both of you," She said with a sincere smile.

Leo came beside Anna and greeted them with a smile.

"Good to see you again, Leo," Clary said with a smile.

"Good to see you too, Clary." Leo said in a nod before wrapping his arm around Anna's waist. Clary smile amusedly as she darted between them.

"Please tell me that you both are already married," Clary prompted and looked at them expectantly.

"Yes we are, we had our wedding a week ago," Anna said in a shy tone before leaning closer and rested her head over Leo's shoulder.

"I'm so happy for you, Bff," Clary wailed and spread her arms wide for a hug. Anna mirrored and embraced her tightly.

"I wonder how Daniel, Mr. Lee and Mrs. Bill are doing," Anna said before pulling away.

"Daniel, he's travelling around the world. And now he's in India, doing his next vlogging thing," Clary said under her laugh. "Mr. Lee and his family shifted permanently to his native place two years ago and as for Mrs. Bill—" She stopped midway and gave Anna a sorrowful glance before looking down on the ground.

"She's no more, Anna," Peter said quietly in a strained tone. Anna gasped in shocked and her hand reached to cover her mouth. Tears began to build up on her eyes at the news of Mrs. Bill.

"She passed two years ago due to sudden stroke." Peter said as he gulped harder and let out a whimper.

"Where is she now?"

*

Anna cried silently as she stood in front of Mrs. Bill's gravestone and sadly stared at the name carved in it. Leo came beside her and rested his arm around her shoulder, pulling her into him.

"I'm sorry, Mrs. Bill for coming late to you," Anna said under her sobbing and knelt down in front of the gravestone. She then ran her hand over the carved words before placing the flowers in front of it.

"I know now that you're in a better place, Mrs. Bill. We'll meet soon again one day, till then, I'm gonna miss you so much, Mrs. Bill and I love you so much." Anna said softly under her sniffles, before joining her hands and closing her eyes to say a silent prayer for the deceased. Leo silently stood beside her and tenderly watched down at her with so much love in his eyes as Anna whispers softly in her prayer.

Anna slowly opened her eyes and stared at the gravestone for a moment before getting up to her feet.

"Goodbye, Mrs. Bill," She said softly before turning to look at her husband who was already staring at her with soft and loving eyes.

Leo smiled at her and reached his hands to wipe her tears away. He then cupped both her cheeks and pulled her closer, placing a soft kiss on her forehead. Anna let out a soft breath before hugging him tightly. Leo chuckled softly before wrapping his arms around her.

"Are you okay, Mio coure?" Leo asked softly.

Anna gently pulled away and looked up at him. "I'm okay," She said softly before taking his hand into hers and intertwining them. "Let's go," She said to which Leo nodded at him. They both glanced at Mrs. Bill gravestone before walking away from the place.
