The Fall of the Dairy
"Open the goddamned door! You can't keep us in here! Open up! I will tear you fuckers apart with my bare hands!" Were the first words Lee heard upon regaining his consciousness. His opened his eyes, trying to take a look around himself, but his vision was blurry and he couldn't see anything because of it. He blinked a few times, managing to regain his vision a few seconds later.
He took a good look around the place after regaining his vision. Clementine was kneeling in front of Jack who now had a bruise on his cheek, checking his state after Andy knocked him to the floor back in the farm house, Kenny and Travis were pacing back and forth across the meat locker, trying to find a way out this place, Larry was trying to get the door open, constantly banging on it with his fist and Lilly was trying to get Larry to calm down with no effect while Mark to tried to get the door open even if Larry was making it harder for him. He couldn't see Katjaa or Duck anywhere, though.
"Will you stop that banging?! We've gotta find another way out!" Kenny shouted at Larry.
"They won't open the door no matter what you will say!" Mark pointed out in an attempt to convice Larry to stop, even though he knew how slim chance of getting him to stop was because of how stubborn Larry was.
"Dad, stop!" Lilly begged her dad to stop, but her pleads fell deaf on his ears.
Clementine noticed noticed Lee was awake and ran over to him, "Lee!" She knelt down in front of him, stuttering out, "It... it was a person! They tried to make us eat a person!"
"But you didn't do it..." Lee wasn't sure if he stopped her from taking a bite or not.
"She didn't." Jack replied as Lee looked at him and Sandra, "Thanks to you."
Larry turned away from the door and glared at Lee, "The rest of us did, goddamn it! If you hadn't dragged your feet...!"
"C'mon dad! Now's not the time!" Lilly yelled in an attempt of stopping him from getting more angry.
"Are you serious right now?" Jack glared at Larry like he was looking at an idiot, "If it wasn't for him, then we would eat Doug without ever knowing and who knows what would have happen after you moron."
Larry stopped with his banging and looked over his shoulder at Jack with an angry glare on his face, "Shut the fuck up! I'm not in the mood to deal with your bullshit again!"
"Guess your new girlfriend wasn't all she was cracked up to be." Jack commented, knowing it would anger Larry more. He didn't care about it now. The old man was annoying him by pointing fingers even in a situation like this. In his mind, he deserved it.
Larry's glare worsened after this, "What the hell is your problem? You were a prick back at the motor lodge and you went all the way to be an asshole to me when you went to talk with me!"
Jack rolled his eyes, "Yeah. Because telling you how much of a moron you are for treating Lee like crap is me being a prick. You can't do shit because of your heart and yet are treating people who actually do something for this group and are the reason you have the medication you need like filth whenever they don't lick your or Lilly's ass! You think you are entitled to something in this group because Lilly makes a couple of decision in our group, but let me tell you something because you apparently are stupid enough not to figure it out yourself. Things don't work like this!"
"Can we not argue now?" Mark asked before Jack and Larry could break into an argument as the two men looked like they were ready to tear each other apart right now while Kenny looked at Jack with a look of approval on his face, "We have to focus on finding a way out of here."
"You okay, Clementine?" Lee asked as he paid no attention to whatever was going on between Jack and Larry right now, "They didn't hurt you, did they?"
"No." Clementine shook her head as she gave Jack a quick look, "But they hurt Jack."
"I'm fine." Jack tried to assure Clementine with his tone calming down a bit, rubbing her bruised cheek with his right hand as he gave Clem thumbs up with his left one.
Larry went back what he was doing a few moments earlier. He intended to deal with Jack later. Once he will tear the St. John family apart., "OPEN UP!"
"Lee, those psychos have my family, and we're stuck in a damn meat locker! We've gotta get the fuck outta here!" Kenny explained the situation to Lee, having just walked over to him as Jack slowly got himself back on his feet.
"I'm scared." Clementine whispered.
"Don't be. It's gonna be okay..." Lee whispered back, "I'm gonna find us a way out of here."
Clementine nodded with a scared look on her face, "...Okay."
Lee got up and walked over to Travis who was standing in front of the pile o salt licks, "What are you doing?"
Travis glanced at Lee and quickly gave him an explanation by pointing at one of the salt licks, "i thought about using one of those break down the door."
Lee nodded in understanding, "Why didn't you try it, then?"
Travis blushed a bit in embarassment, "Y-You see. I can't pick it up..."
"I see..." Lee replied in understanding, making Travis more embarassed as he tried to pick one up. It was to no avail, though as the salt lick was too heavy even for him, "These things are pretty heavy."
"See?" Travis replied, trying to make himself look less embarassed as he knew now it wasn't the time. He turned away from him a second later and set his eyes on Mark who continued to check on the door, "Mark! Think we could heave it through the door?"
"No." Mark shook his head as he turned away from the door to look at Travis and Lee for a second. He just wished Larry would stop banging on the door constantly as it wasn't letting him examine the door properly but he wasn't going to say anything to the old man as he knew it would be for nothing, "Door's too solid."
Travis sighed, "Dammit..."
"It was still a good idea." Lee told the kid, knowing he just wanted to prove himself.
"Thanks, I guess..." Travis muttered under his breath as Mark shifted his attention back to the door in order to keep examining it.
He looked up at Larry a second later and tried to convince him once more to stop what he was doing right now, "C'mon, Larry. Is this really smart? What do you plan to do even if they come?"
"I'll tell you what I'm gonna do..." Larry didn't even turn around to look at Mark as he replied, hitting the door again as he did so, "I'm gonna wait until they come in and then I'm gonna tear them to bits and serve them up to the first walker I find!"
"Dad! Stop!" Lilly pleaded her dad to stop.
"Aah!" Larry paused what he was doing, letting out a groan as everyone turned to look at him in an instant, "Oh god."
"Larry, what...?" Mark tried to ask what was wrong. Suddenly Larry dropped to the floor and laid on his back, a thud created from the fall.
"Dad!?" Lilly screamed in worry as Clementine gasped as he fell since this was the first time it happened without Larry making a sound or an effort to keep up. Everyone got closer to the fallen man. Lilly quickly checked if her dad was breathing. He wasn't. His eyes were closed and his chest was still. She quickly started performing chest compressions.
"Is he breathing?" Mark asked in alarm, looking down at Larry in panic.
"No." Lilly shook her head as she refused to look away from her dad and stop what she was doing, "I think he's had a heart attack!"
"Shit..." Jack muttered under his breath. He absolutely hated Larry, in fact that was an understatement. He'd wish he'd get a heart attack every now and then when he was way too outta line.
"Shit, is he dead?" Kenny asked, standing near the salt licks as he grew worried by the sight in front of him.
"He's not dead. Somebody help me!" Lilly asked for help.
"Fuuuuuuuck..." Kenny remained worried, "... If he's dead..."
"HE'S NOT DEAD!" Lilly yelled at him.
Mark looked at Kenny with a conflicted look on his face, "Maybe he's not dead..."
"Look at him!" Kenny argued as he pointed at Larry, "Does he look alive to you?!"
Jack rubbed the back of his head as he voiced his agreement with Kenny, "Guys. I think Kenny might be right. Can a someone even survive a heart attack with a proper medication?"
"What?" Mark looked at him like he had just grown the second head, "Jack. We can't do anything unless he's really dead."
"And he isn't!" Lilly agreed.
"You know what has to happen, Lee." Kenny continued to make his point as everyone glanced at him, "Think about it. You saw that poor bastard at the motel. How fast he turned."
"N-No!" Travis shook his head, his behavior cracking a bit as he stepped backwards a bit, "It isn't the same as Mr. Parker!"
"Yes. It is, kid!" Kenny argued. His tone grew a bit calmer when he shifted his attention back to Lilly, "Lilly, I'm sorry. I truly, truly am. But in a few minutes, we're gonna be stuck in a locked room with a six-foot-four, three-hundred-pound, seriously pissed-off dead guy!"
Lilly glared at him, "Fuck you! We can bring him back! Lee! Mark! Anyone! Help!"
Lee glanced at Lee and tried to make an argument even if Jack's words remained in the back of his mind, "Look, Kenny...back at the drug store when we all thought Duck was bitten, I gave him the benefit of the doubt! Maybe we should do the same now."
"That was different. Duck wasn't bitten." Kenny pointed out, "But, come on! We know this guy ain't gonna make it!"
"Lee? Do you really want to risk saving someone from a heart attack without proper medication? What if he will change? Do you want to risk him bitting into anyone from our group?" Jack added as Mark and Travis looked at him in disbelief, "Remember what Ben and Travis said, gotta destroy the brain."
"Lee you've almost always had my back, I know you wanna stay in the middle but right now I need you on my side, again!" Kenny pleaded Lee.
"Goddamn it, Lee! I need you! Please help me!" Lilly shouted as she proceeded to perform chest compressions, letting Lee think for a moment before he made his decision.
Lee sighed in defeat, hating the idea, but knowing it had to be done. Jack made a valid point regarding them not having a proper medication to treat a heart attack. They couldn't risk it. They couldn't risk hurting Clementine. He shifted his gaze to Kenny and Jack and looked at them with a guilty and sad look on his face, "You're right, you two. Let's get this over with."
"You fucking monsters!" Lilly shouted, shaking her head at what just happening as she continued pumping on Larry's chest, "All three of you!"
Clementine rushed into the corner, covering her ears, " I don't wanna see!"
"Guys!" Travis looked at Lee, Kenny and Jack in horror, "This is fucked up!"
"Don't do this! Maybe we can still save him!" Mark added.
Lee, Kenny and Jack paid no attention to Mark and Travis' words, leaving their words falling on deaf ears. Not wasting any time, Lee and Jack moved towards Lilly and started to pull her away from Larry to make sure she won't be near him when Kenny will smash his head with the salt lick, ignoring her pleads not to do this as Kenny walked over to the pile of salt licks and picked one up with some difficulty, placing it on his shoulder
"I'm sorry, Lilly. It's the only way." Lee told Lilly in a saddened manner, placing his hand on her right arm. Neither Mark or Travis did anything as they outnumbered here as it was just two of them against Kenny, Lee and Jack in this situation. Knowing he can't do anything right now, Travis decided to go back to searching the meat locker for an exit.
"NO! NO! NO! NOOOO! GET OFF ME!" Lilly shouted in desperation as Lee and Jack struggled to hold her back even if there was two of them. Some inhuman strength must have woken up in Lilly because of what just happened. She gave in a second later, though as Lee and Lilly pulled her backwards just in time Kenny arrived with a salt lick.
"Noooo...!" Lilly shouted in despair as Kenny brought the salt lick down on Larry, smashing his head to pieces.
"God help us." Kenny muttered to himself as the three men looked down at Larry's body as Lilly cried on his chest, "I'm sorry, I know it."
"Don't you fucking touch me!" Lilly spat out in disgust when she looked up at him as Lee and Jack turned towards Clementine hearing her cries. The two men looked at the girl with saddened looks on their face, hating she had to see it but knew it had to be done for their safety. Lee stepped close to her a second later, wanting to comfort her and did his best to ignore the way Mark looked at him right now.
He crouched down in front of Clementine a second later, "Clem. You okay?"
"Why, Lee? Lilly said he wasn't bitten!" Clem questioned in a broke tearful voice.
"He was, Clem. We couldn't take the chance, I'm sorry." Lee explained himself to Clementine as he pulled a whimper girl into a comforting hug. His tone grew more comforting as well, "Hey... Shh, it's okay. It's okay...But you gotta be strong right now. I need you to be strong. Think about something else... something hopeful."
"Like what?" Clementine asked, whimpering.
"Someplace safe, without the monsters." Lee reassured her as Clementine thought about it for a moment and gave him a nod,
"We're gonna get out of here, right?" She asked him a second later, "You found a way out?"
"Not yet, but I'm looking." He reassured her once more and turned around as Clemetine looked down at Larry's destroyed her and started whimpering again.
"Guys." Everyone shifted their attention to the source of the voice and saw Travis standing under an air conditioner just as Lee turned away from Clementine after comforting her, "Do you think we can use it to get out of here?"
Mark walked over to Travis and smiled at him, "Great idea, Travis. Behind that air unit, there's gotta be an air duct behind. Maybe one big enough for one of us to fit through."
"I dunno. Seems like a long shot." Kenny stated, having just made his way to the two with Lee and Jack.
Clementine got to her feet, "Does the air conditioner come off?"
"I think I could take it off, if I had something to remove the screws." Jack shifted his gaze from the air conditioner to Lee, "Do you still have the multi-tool?"
Lee checked his pockets and sighed, "No. The St. Johns took it before they brought us here."
"Dammit..." Jack muttered under his breath, letting out a sigh.
"Maybe there's something else we could us. I've got a rock." Clementine offered.
"A rock won't help..." Lee shook his head at her offer and quickly thought of a good alternative to a screw driver, "But a coin might do the trick. Do you have a coin?"
Clementine shook her head, "Uh-uh..."
Mark thought of something, "Lee, I know someone who has a coin."
"Who?" Lee asked as Mark pointed him and the rest to the deceased Larry. Lee shifted his gaze back to Mark a second later, "Are you sure?"
Mark nodded in confirmation, "Positive. He told me back at the Motor Inn that he had sixty cents in his pocket, he even showed it to me."
"Why did he show you his pocket change?" Jack raised his brow at him.
Mark quickly gave him an explanation, "As he put it, I was 'being a pansy' about being hungry. Said he'd give it to me if I'd stop complaining."
"Yeah, that sounds about right." Jack nodded. He looked back at Larry a second later and saw Lilly currently mourning over him and probably wouldn't be too happy to have someone search his body. Especially if it was him or Lee or Kenny. He knew it had to be either Mark or Travis. He set his eyes on Mark a second later, "Could you go get it? I think it will be for the best if you will ask her if you can, you know..."
"I'll see what I can do..." Mark sighed, knowing Jack was right even if didn't like what he did with Lee and Kenny. He stepped closer to Lilly a second later, bracing himself from however she may react.
Lilly looked up as Lee approached, "Please. I need to be alone."
"God knows you deserve time to grieve, Lilly." Mark replied as he knelt down across from her, "But if we're gonna get out of here, we need your help. And Larry's..." Lilly looked down, not liking where this was going as he continued by filling her in on the idea, "Travis may have found us a way outta here, but we need something to remove the screws on the air conditioner. Now, I know this is a terrible time for it, but..." He exhaled in order to prepare himself to fully say it, "Larry might have some change in one of his pockets. He had it earlier at the motel and, if it's still on him, it could get us out of this room."
"What do you want?" Lilly looked up at him again, "My blessing to loot his corpse?!"
"Your permission." Mark replied with a regretful and sad look on his face.
Lilly sighed as she looked back down. If Mark was going to do it, then she was going to be alright with it. If anyone else asked her, then she wouldn't know how she would react, "Do what you have to do."
Mark moved around to were he had easier access to Larry's pockets and checked the left pocket first. What he pulled out of it was a small golden wedding ring, "A ring?"
"My mother's..." Lilly explained to him.
"Don't worry. I'm not taking it." Mark immediately put it back and continued to search Larry's corpse from there. He searched the back left pocket next, pulling out a brown wallet. He raised his brow at it, not understand why would Larry carry his wallet around him nowadays. He put it back in a second later, having no use for it and searched the last pocket. It was when he found what he was looking for, "Here we go..."
Mark thanked Lilly for allowing him to do what he had to and wasted no time as he got up and walked back to the rest. Jack, Lee, Travis and Kenny moved out of the way as Lee used one of the quarters to take out a screw. After unscrewing both of the screws, Lee was able to to take the air conditioner off the duct and place it on the floor.
"Well... there's our way out." Travis stated with a hint of pride.
Jack gave him a pat on his back, "Good job."
Kenny nodded as he set his eyes on the exit, "Looks like this thing'll take us straight into that back room..."
Lee look a look into their exit and saw the entrance from their end was not exactly wide, "It's too small for us to fit through."
"I can do it." Clementine volunteered as everyone turned towards her voice and her stepping closer to them.
Lee knelt down in front of her, "You think you can do this?"
"I'm scared." Clementine gave him an honest answer.
"We need you, Clementine." Kenny said.
Jack nodded in agreement, "We know you can do it, Clem."
"Okay." Clementine nodded at Lee, letting out a sigh. She walked over to the hole and Lee lifted her up to it, "You're gonna be fine."
"What do I do when I get out?" Clementine wanted to know before she'll move out..
Lee quickly gave her an explanation, "See if you can get to the other side of that door and open it."
Clementine nodded in understanding before crawling into the vent, beginning to make her way to the other side of it. Everyone listened as Clementine crawled through the vent and gets to the other side. When everyone heard a gasp ring out on the side of the door, everyone in the meat locket, even Lilly looked at the door in concern for Clementine. After a moment, she opened the door to the meat locker and walked it with a nervous look on her face.
"Are you okay? Did anyone see you?" Lee asked with a concerned look on his face.
"No. But there's a man." Clementine shook her head Kenny and Mark walked past her to the other side of the door.
Jack shifted his gaze from Clementine to Travis, "Travis."
Travis raised his brow, "Yeah?"
"Lilly's not in the best condition right now." He explained to her, motioning to Lilly as Lilly looked up at him with a glare look on her face, Could you watch over Clementine when we'll be gone?"
Travis nodded in understanding, "Sure, man. You can count on me."
"I know." Jack slightly smiled at him.
The blonde haired young man shifted his gaze away from Travis a second later and shifted it to Lee. He nodded at him and Lee nodded back at him. The two men wasted no time afterwards and walked out of the meat locker, leaving Lilly, Travis and Clementine inside of it. They joined Mark and Kenny outside the meat locker a second later. Mark couldn't believe where he was right now. He saw this place before but being again in it with the knowledge of what the St. John's were doing in it as Kenny observed the room in horror.
Kenny shifted his gaze to Lee and Jack when they came up to him, "We told you there was something up, you two! It's a goddamned human slaughterhouse!"
Jack walked over to the the table and picked up a sickle, "Come on. Let's take weapons for ourselves. There should be enough weapons in here for the four of us."
"Yeah. This is good." Kenny muttered to himself, taking a sickle for himself.
The rest of the group wasted no time and quickly picked a weapon for themselves. Lee picked up a hay hook while Mark decided to grab a mini cattle prod. After making sure each one of them had a weapon to defend themselves, the four men quickly crouched down to avoid detection and moved closer to the door while keeping themselves as quiet as they could.
"Jesus Christ!" Mark exclaimed quietly upon taking a look in the bloody tub "Look at all the blood in here!"
"Must be where they butcher people." Lee stated with a disturbed look on his face.
"Fucking monsters." Jack shook his head in disgust as Kenny took a peak through the door.
Lee set his eyes on Kenny, "So what's the plan here, Ken?"
Kenny pulled his head back in and gave the his answer, "That dumbass is so caught up in his own rant that we could probably sneak right up on him. Just stick behind me in case anything goes down. When we get to the front, grab his gun."
"Sounds good to me." Mark stated with a look of approval.
"Alrighty, then." Lee agreed as Jack silently nodded his head, "Let's do this quickly."
"All of you stick close." Kenny told his group as he opened up only one of the doors.
Jack, Mark and Lee followed past the open door. As the four of them moved out of the back room, they saw Danny sitting all by himself on a hay bale at the front entrance, his gun resting on the bale, talking to himself. The group of four exchanged glances with each other as they were just a few more steps away from Danny, ready to attack him at any second. They stopped their approach as Andy came out of nowhere.
Andy looked down at his younger sibling, "Dan, what are you doing outside the barn?"
"Shit!" Kenny swore. Having nowhere else to hide, all three of them went into the nearest stall to avoid being seen.
"Just guardin' the place," Danny responded to his older brother, "Like ya said."
"Well, quit sittin' out in the rain like a damn weirdo." Andy told him, "Mama says we can't keep that many folks alive and not expect trouble. Pick one to keep and kill the rest. Pick one to keep, and kill the rest. Not the kid, not enough meat."
Kenny shifted his gaze between Lee and Mark, "Dammit! We were so close!"
"What are they talking about now?" Mark asked.
Lee stayed silent and to listened to the siblings talk outside for a moment before looking at his friends, "Those bastards are talking about butchering us right now!"
"No shit." Kenny replied.
"What should we do?" Jack asked.
"I'll keep an eye on him. Be ready to act when I say." Lee replied as Jack, Kenny and Mark nodded in understanding, the former two gripping their sickles and the latter holding his mini cattle prod. He opened up the stall door enough to peak out and saw Danny setting up a bear trap on the ground, the very saw trap Lee saw back in the woods when he and his group encountered Ben and Travis while ranting to Maybelle about how Andy and Brenda didn't thought he was smart enough, "Sick fucker thinks this is a game! He's setting up one of those traps for us."
"The same traps we just saw in the back room?" Jack asked as Lee nodded in confirmation, "Shit..."
"See what he's doing now." Kenny said.
Lee slowly opened the door for another time and saw a dark barrel of the gun pointed at his head. Danny was standing there with a pleased smile on his face, more than ready to pull the trigger and end Lee's life. Lee reacted immediately. Lee grabbed the gun and moved it away from him as it fired. He covered his ear after the loud sound hurts his hearing as Danny reloaded the rifle. Lee quickly grabbed his hay hook and stabbed Danny with it as Danny screamed in a pain before punching Lee, knocking him to the floor. Danny quickly removed the hook from his chest and aimed his rifle at Lee.
He didn't got a chance to pull the trigger as the stall door next to him flew open and slammed into him, making him loose his grip on his rifle as it was knocked away from him. Danny screamed in pain and stumbled backwards as Kenny came out and sliced him with the sickle. Danny backed away in fear of another blow, his leg got caught in the trap he had set up. He yelled in pain as he fell to the floor.
"Where's my family asshole?" Kenny demanded to know as he threw the sickle away, seeing no further use for it. Mark and Jack walked over to Lee and helped him up. Lee looked at Kenny with a grateful look on his face as Kenny nodded at him.
"You can't have 'em!" Danny looked up at them, "We need the vet!"
Just as Danny mentioned her, Katjaa's voice rang out from the farm house, "NOOOO!"
Kenny looked out the barn door, "Kat!" He quickly shifted his gaze to Lee, Jack and Mark, "Guys! C'mon!"
"You go." Lee glared at Danny, "We won't be far behind."
Kenny didn't argue with Lee after hearing his answer and quickly ran out of the barn, vanishing in the darkness of the night. Danny gripped his leg in pain as Lee pulled out the pitchfork that was stuck to a hay bale and pointed it at the younger one of the St. John brothers.
"Ya see!?" Danny groaned in pain, looking up at Lee, Jack and Mark, "You understand now, don't ya?! You can have me!" Mark watched Danny in disbelief as he listened to everything the crazed man was saying, "It's how the world works now! Give part of yourself. So others can live!"
"Cannibalism is not the answer!" Lee shouted, "Aren't the walkers eating enough of us?!"
"Give part of yourself? Doug never volunteered to be food!" Mark added, feeling disgusted by the man in front of him and the things he has done to someone he considered his friend.
Jack glared at Danny, "You're a fucking monster."
"You gotta keep me alive." Danny told them, "If you kill me, the meat gets tainted! You can't eat it!"
"You're already tainted." Lee retorted.
"You ain't gonna kill me, just like you didn't kill Jolene... You don't have what it takes! Fucking coward." Danny taunted Lee. Lee was not going to let him have it, though. With a roar, he impaled Danny in the chest with the pitchfork and Danny died almost instantly from his wounds.
"No!" Clementine shouted with a horrified look on her face upon seeing Lee kill Danny with a pitchfork. Lee, Jack and Mark turned around in an instant after hearing Clementine's scream and saw her standing behind them with Lilly and Travis. Lilly had a cold look on her face while Travis looked like he had approved of Lee killing Danny. Even if Clementine saw it. Lee tried to approach Clementine. However, she hid between Lilly and Travis in fear.
"God, no!" Katjaa's voice sounded outside of the barn again.
Lee shifted his gaze in the direction of the voice in an instant, "Katjaa!"
Mark put a hand on his shoulder, "Come on, let's get them."
"Yeah." Jack nodded in agreement.
"Just go. We'll keep Clementine safe." Lilly told Lee with a cold look on her face, picking up Danny's rifle.
Lee nodded at her and made his way out of the barn with Jack and Mark. A storm had started while all of them were locked up inside, the sky was dark, thunder and lightning crashed and rain poured down from the sky. They sneaked over to a couple of hay bales and crouched down behind them. They heard rustling in the cornfields a second later and brought their attention towards it, seeing a walker making it's way towards them.
The walker took another step forward, before it was hit in the back of it's head and fell down to the ground, dead. As soon as the walker hit the ground, the group of three saw Carley and Andre crouching down among the corn. Needless to say. All three of them were happy the monent they saw them. That was until they would have to tell Carley about Doug...
"Carley?/Andre?" Lee and Jack quietly called out for Carley and Andre as soon as they set their eyes on her.
Carley took a few steps closer and stood up. She could see all three of the figures almost perfectly, "Lee? Jack? Mark?"
"You have no idea how good it is to see you." Jack smiled when he saw them as Ben walked over to Carley as one or two of the stalks he pushed out of the way slapped him back in response.
"Ow!" The teenager groaned in pain.
Carley turned to Ben when her approached and Andre, "Shh!"
"Is everyone okay? You guys have been gone WAY too long!" Andre asked as Ben stopped on Carley's left.
"They attacked us!" Jack told them.
"I knew it!" Ben looked at Carley, "I told you we couldn't trust 'em."
Carley shook her head, "Shit."
"How many of them are there?" Andre wanted to know.
Lee answered him a second later, "Two left."
"Where?" Carley wanted to know.
"In the house, we think." Mark told her, "Things aren't going well."
"What happened?" Carley asked him another question.
Jack pointed towards the barn, "Larry just died inside the barn. He had a heart attack and we had to, you know..."
"Shit..." Andre shook his head.
"What about Doug?" Doug quickly became Carley's first concern, "What about him?"
Lee looked at her sadly, "Carley. I'm so sorry..."
Carley gasped, "W-What? What happened?"
"They killed Doug before they locked us in the barn..." Lee explained to her, leaving out the detail of how Doug was killed for Carley's good as he hated having to explain this to her.
Carley's expression grew more sad, "W-What? No...What did to him?"
"You don't want to know..." Lee replied.
Carley cut him off, "Tell me. Please.."
Lee sighed, bracing himself for whatever reaction this information will get out of Carley, "They chopped off his legs and tried to feed them to us."
"Wh-what? They what?" Carley stuttered out in shock, trying to grasp what happened as Andre and Ben appeared disgusted and horrified by the thought.
"Listen, Carley, we're in a bad spot here." Lee told her. He knew it must have been hard for her. However, he knew not it wasn't the time to mourn Doug. They had to find Katjaa and Doug, "I feel your pain, but for right now we need to keep our minds on the problem at hand."
Carley nodded at him shakily, "O-Okay..."
"What do you want us to do?" Andre asked as he knew he had to take over since Carley was not in the best state of mind right now.
Lee quickly gave him an explanation, "I need you, Carley and Ben to wait near the gate, just until it's safe enough to come in."
"The main gate is too dangerous." Jack added, "Go around the fence and see if there's a back way in. We'll keep looking for Kenny as we don't know where he is now. They're keeping his family somewhere and he went out to look for them."
"We're on it." Andre replied in understanding as Ben silently nodded at them with Carley remaining unseasy. The group of three moved towards their destination a second later with Andre and Ben needing to direct Carley to make sure she won't get lost in the corn.
Mark sighed sadly, "Poor Carley..."
"Let's get to the house." Jack said after Andre, Carley and Ben vanished from their view, "We cannot waste any time."
Lee and Mark nodded in agreement and quickly started to make their way towards the farm house. Lee lead the way over to the house, remaining low to keep quiet and unseen. Mark and Jack followed in a similar fashion, making sure to stay as quiet as they could.
As they got close to the farm house, Katjaa's scream rang out from the farm house, "No! No! Please, God! No! NO!"
"Just shut up and he'll be fine!" Brenda yelled back at her within the house as Lee, Mark and Jack continued to move towards their house, keeping their eyes open any other living soul out here.
"Somethin's up. I'm gonna take the boy and have a look around back..." Andy's voice rang out from inside the house.
"No, please." Katjaa begged them, "Don't take my boy!"
"Let go, woman!" Andy shouted.
"Settle down." Brenda after after a few seconds of silence, "I don't wanna hurt y'all."
Lee quietly opened the gate, beginning to make his way up the hill the farm house was standing on as Mark and Jack followed him. They all stopped suddenly as Brenda looked out of the door, seeing outlines of four people. She quickly realized the group had escaped from the meat locker and God only knew what they did to Danny in the barn.
"Oh, God..." She backed away from the door in fear. Knowing their cover was blown, Lee, Jack and Mark stood up and they continued to make their way up the hill towards the porch, "Come here!"
As Lee, Jack and Mark reached the front door, they saw that Brenda had taken Katjaa hostage and was aiming a revolver at her.
"Lee!" Katjaa shouted the moment he appeared in her and Brenda's view.
"Get back! Don't come in here." Brenda tensed up, standing at the base of the stairs as Jack and Mark walked over to Lee, the former standing on his right and the latter standing on his left, "You just HAD to go snoopin' around, didn't ya?!"
"Let her go, Brenda." Jack said as Lee opened the door and walked into the house.
Lee stopped immediately as Brenda raised the revolver over at him and the others, "All of ya, don't any of you take another step!"
"Brenda, you know that you don't wanna do this." Mark said as he entered the house after Lee, followed by Jack.
Brenda put the revolver back to Katjaa's head and backed up one step up the stairs, "Just go away and leave us be!"
Jack and Mark began moving forward, Lee stopped them immediately. He whispered to them, "I'll handle this. Just stay here and watch my back."
Lee began approaching the women with slow cautious steps as Mark and Jack remained where they stood and watched the upcoming events unfold. Brenda tensed up even more as Lee continued to slowly approach her.
She quickly aimed her revolver at him again, "Stop right there, I mean it!"
Lee knew he had to think of something to calm her down. It didn't took him long to remind himself of Brenda mentioning her husband to him and Andre after they came back from the woods with Danny. He glanced at the portrait of Brenda and Terry ,"Think about your husband, Brenda! Do you really think he wanted his dairy turned into a... a slaughterhouse?!"
Brenda shifted her gaze from Lee to the portrait of her and her husband, starting to feel ashamed of what the dairy had become after his passing. She quickly shook this feeling away and took another step up the stairs, "I'll kill her, Lee!"
"Don't do this..." Katjaa begged as Brenda put her revolver to her head again.
Lee went back to his slow approach towards Brenda as Mark and Jack looked up and saw something at the wooden railing at the top of the stairs, right behind Brenda. It was Doug. He had changed into a walker. The undead Doug was reaching his hands out towards Brenda, trying to grab her. Mark looked up sadly at the walker Doug, he couldn't imagine sharing that same fate as Jack had a saddened look on his face, not imagining what Carley was going through right now.
Brenda aimed her revolver at Lee again as he got to close, "Stay back! Don't do anything stupid."
"What happened, Brenda?" Lee asked, referring to the diplomas hanging on the wall, "Your family was obviously smart! How did it come to this?!"
"Just stop!" Brenda yelled, putting her revolver to Katjaa's head as she took another step up the stairs.
"Brenda." Katjaa begged again, "Please..."
Lee took a step steps forward again until Brenda aimed her revolver at him again to make him stop again, "I don't wanna kill you, Lee!"
"This Dairy was your pride!" Lee shouted, referring to the many awards the dairy had won which were put on display everywhere in this house, "Look what you've done to it!"
"Stop! I mean it!" Brenda replied, on the verge of a breakdown as she aimed her revolver at him in another attempt to stop him from advancing towards her and Katjaa.
Lee continued moving forward as Brenda aimed her revolver at Katjaa again and backed up the stairs, reaching the top of the stairs. As soon as she reached it, Doug grabbed onto her and sunk his teeth into her neck. Brenda screamed in pain, her revolver falling out of her grasp and falling down to the steps, landing on the floor before Lee, Jack and Mark as Katjaa freed herself from her grasp and ran over to Lee, Jack and Mark.
"They took Duck! Where's Kenny?!" She asked them with a desperate look on her face.
"I said don't move, asshole!" Andy's voice sounded outside the house.
"Don't you fucking hurt him!" Kenny shouted.
"Oh, my God!" Katjaa said in worry as she ran out of the house, followed by Lee and Jack.
Mark did not follow them right away. Instead, he looked over at the revolver Brenda had dropped. It was a good, reliable model by the looks of it. And chances were they could find ammo for it in Macon the next time they searched it. Mark went over and picked up the gun, examining it a few moments before going for the door.
Lee, Jack and Katjaa ran out of the house and saw Kenny facing off against Andy. The farmer kept him at distance as he held Duck hostage and pointed his rifle at him, preparing himself to shoot someone.
"Let him go, god dammit!" Kenny demanded, his parental instincts overshadowing all other thoughts.
Andy shook his head, "That ain't gonna happen!"
"Andy, don't!" Lee shouted, having arrived at the scene with Jack and Katjaa.
He immediately pointed his rifle at them, "SHUT UP!"
Kenny charged at Andy while he was distracted. Andy pointed his rifle back at him the second he moved and fired. The bullet hit Kenny and Kenny fell down to the ground, grabbing his stomach in pain as Katjaa screamed, running over to her husband.
"Dad!" Duck shouted in worry for his dad as Jack ran over to Katjaa and Kenny, checking the state Kenny was in right now.
"Andy!" Lee yelled as he slowly approached, hands raised in the air.
"Who the fuck do you people think you are?! Look what've you done!" Andy shouted.
"You brought this on yourself." Lee replied, taking a few more steps towards Andy.
"No! You did this, all we wanted was some fucking gas to keep ourselves safe!" Andy screamed.
His rant was cut short as he received a bullet to the side. Mark stood on the porch, his hands tighly gripping Brenda's revolver after he'd fired off. Andy let go of Duck and pressed his hand against his wounded ear, allowing him to go to his father as Lee immediately took action.
Lee rushed Andy and got into a struggle for his rifle. As they continued to wrestle with the rifle, Lee smashed it into Andy's face, causing both of them to fall down the hill and crashed through the picket fence. As Lee tried to get up, Andy quickly ran over to him and kicked him in the head, making him fall to the ground. Andy smiled crazily as he started the generator for the electric fence and grabbed Lee by the collar of his coat.
Before he could reach the fence, Jack came running down the hill with his sickle in ready and sliced him with the sickle. Andy gritted his teeth in pain, losing his grip on Lee. The older one of the St. John brothers reacted immediately to Jack's attack. He punched the younger man in the face as Jack stumbled backwards and clutched his face in pain, his sickle falling out of his grasp.
Andy moved towards Jack, completely forgetting about Lee as Lee quickly got himself back on his feet and punched him at the back of the neck. Andy stumbled forward towards Jack as Jack returned the favor and punched him in the face, knocking him to the ground. Lee got himself on top of Andre and started wailing on him as Jack picked up his sickle, staying near the two of them. Punch after punch, Lee allowed himself to let Andy have it.
The rest of the group all got together near the gate Carley, Andre and Ben had opened, Travis supporting the injured Kenny. Clementine, Jack, Kenny, Katjaa, Duck, Mark, Lilly, Andre, Carley, Travis and Ben watched as Lee turned Andy's face into raw beef. It wasn't long before the man's face was bruised and broken.
"Lee." Jack called out for to Lee as Lee looked up at him, "The bastard's had enough."
Lee stopped his assault, taking a deep breath as he looked down at how badly he messed up Andy. He looked up at Jack and nodded his head at him. He picked up Andy's rifle, strapping it to his back.
"Let's go back to the rest." Jack said as Lee nodded at him, the two of them beginning to make their way towards their group.
"Is that all ya got, Lee?" Andy raised his head up to look at Lee and Jack. Lee and Jack stopped in their tracks and looked at him, "...You ain't shit!"
"It's over!" Lee declared.
"Fuck you." Andy slowly got himself back on his feet, breathing heavily, "As soon as Dan and mama get out here, you're all fucked"
"They're both dead!" Lee replied, remembering the fates of Brenda and Danny.
"What did you do?" Andy asked Lee in horror, "What the fuck did you do?"
"We made sure they won't hurt anyone ever again." Jack explained in a completely cold voice as he and Lee started to make their way towards their group again.
"Don't you dare walk away from me!" Andy pointed at them, before falling to his knees, "Get back here and finish this!"
Lee stopped in his tracks to look back at Andy as he and Jack were halfway between him and their group. Seeing this, Jack stopped as well and turned around to look at Andy again. The two of them stared at the broken man who wanted nothing more but for them to finish him off, his pleading expression being more pathetic than sad. They turned back towards their group a few seconds later and began walking towards them again, letting the walkers finish the job for them.
"Get back here and fight me like a man, you two!" Andy shouted, watching them walk away from him, "Lee! Jack!"
"They're getting in!" Clementine shouted as she pointed at the fence, being the first one from the group to notice the undead making their way into the farm. The generator had overheated and walkers were breaking through the now useless fence, crawling through the wires, knocking over whole sections of the fence over in the process.
"Leee! Jackk!" Andy cried out for the two men to finish him off again, having lost everything at this point as Jack and Lee paid no attention to the walkers, leaving this place being the only thing on their minds right now. The others moved aside, giving them a path gave them a path as they walked past them.
"Let's go." Lee said without slowing down as he walked through the gate, beginning to make his way towards the woods.
"There's nothing left here for us." Jack added, following Lee through the gate as a walker Brenda came out of the farm house, beginning to make her way towards her oldest son.
Most of the group slowly followed them, leaving the now walker infested dairy behind them. Lilly stayed behind for a second, watching as Andy wallowed in his own self pity. She gave him this one last look before following her group, leaving Andy alone at the walker infested dairy.
Andy watched as the group who ruined his home walked away, leaving him to die. He called out one more time, "Leeee! Jackkk...!"
