The Dairy

The rest of the trip to the dairy was silent. The group of eight reached their destination after another several minutes of walking through the forested path. Everyone except for Andy and Danny were awestruck when the farm first came into view. It was beautiful. The electric fence really did make the place look safe and the white farmhouse standing on the hill was huge.

"Here it is." Andy proudly declared as the group of eight neared the gate towards the inner gate, "St. John's family Dairy."

"It's beautiful." Lee commented, looking around the scenery around him in awe. It reminded him a bit of his home.

"Almost breathtaking I must say." Doug added with a smile on his face, liking the peaceful feeling this place was giving him.

Danny grinned at him, "Thank you. We've done what we could."

Jack looked at the fence, "The fence keeps them out?"

"You betcha." Andy nodded in confirmation, "They fry like bugs in a zapper. We're pushing 4,000 volts through that thing, with generators and amps."

"I'm going to assume that's a lot." Carley guessed.

"Trust me. It is." Doug replied as Carley nodded at him. The group stopped once they were inside the front yard and Jack took a good long look around the place. A question formed in his head when he looked at the fence again,

He shifted his attention to the two brothers and voiced his question, "Ever have any accidents?"

Danny shook his head, "Nah."

"It's safer here than out there." Andy added.

"This place looks untouched!" Carley declared as she looked around, "You'd never know the rest of the world is in ruins."

"Think about how the kids would be safe in this place." Mark added.

"I thought I saw ya'll with company comin' down the drive!" A familiar voice to Andy and Danny sounded in front of the group. The group turned to the source of it and saw a woman with auburn hair walking towards them. She had a huge smile on her face and was holding a basket.

Andy gestured to this woman and introduced her to the group, "Guys, this is our mama."

"I'm Brenda St. John, and welcome to the St. John Dairy!" Brenda introduced herself with a friendly smile on her face.

Andy gestured towards the group from the motor inn and introduced each other to his mom, "This is Lee, Jack, Mark, Carley, Ben and Doug. Lee's from Macon."

Brenda's smile grew wider at this information as she set her eyes on Lee, "A couple of our old farm hands were from Macon! They grow 'em good there."

"They got a few more friends staying at the old motel." Danny added as he glanced at his mother;

Brenda was shocked to hear this as she looked at the group of six with concern evident on her face, "Oh, my goodness, that place is pretty vulnerable. Have you got someone with survival experience to lead your group?"

Lee quickly provided her his answer, "We all work together. Plus, we've got plenty of people with military experience. One of us is a cop as well."

"Well, that's good to hear. That motel ain't the safest place." Brenda nodded, " Now that y'all are here, we'll make sure you're safe and comfortable."

"Does that offer apply to the rest of us?" Doug asked.

"We're all incredibly hungry." Carley added, thinking of the kids back in the motor rinn.

Brenda replied to this question by handing the basket which was filled with homemade biscuits to Carley, "These are for ya'll. Baked fresh this morning."

"Amazing!" Carley exclaimed upon seeing what was in the basket.

Doug grabbed one of the biscuits and scarfed it all down. He looked at his group with his mouth full and saw Lee, Jack and Mark giving him stern looks while Carley shook her head in amusement, "What?

Danny smiled at Doug, "Yep, can't get stuff like that anymore. Not without a cow for milk and butter, that's for sure."

Brenda nodded in agreement, "That's right. Hopefully Maybelle will make it through this bout of whatever she's got and be with us for a good long while."

Jack raised his brow at this, "Your cow is not feeling well?"

Mark's eyes widened, having just remembered something as he stepped towards Brenda, "We have a vet! We could bring her here! We can help you folks out."

"A vet?" Brenda's eyes widened in glee at this "Oh, my! Our prayers have been answered!"

"Maybe our whole GROUP could come..." Lee stated as he and Jack glanced at Mark. They glanced at each other a second later and exchanged glances, knowing exactly what Mark was doing right now, "For the day..."

Brenda eyed the group in front of her with a thoughtful look on her face and smiled,""Well how about this, ya'll go get your veterinary friend, and I'll prepare some dinner. A big feast for all you hungry souls." Even though Mark and Doug exchanged excited glances at the thought of this, Jack and Lee exchanged unsure glances with each other. A dinner sounded nice, but it wasn't the best idea to have everyone come down here yet, "It'll be nice to have some folks to help out around here again."

Doug voiced his thoughts, "That sounds great."

"The kids and people who didn't get anything to eat today could use a good meal." Carley nodded in agreement as she shifted her gaze between her group, "Why don't I go back and round up everyone for the trip over here."

"Ya might want to take someone with ya." Andy chimed in, "Remember, those roads can be dangerous."

Mark nodded in agreement as he handed his rifle to Carley, "Here take this."

Jack glanced at Ben, "Ben. Why don't you go with her?"

"Okay." Ben nodded at him, stepping closer to Carley's side.

"I could go as well." Doug volunteered.

Carley shook her head, "No, I think two is enough."

"Alright." Doug nodded, taking one final biscut from the basket, "Just watch out for yourself out there."

Carley smiled at him, "I will."

"How about a quick joke before you'll head out?" Doug suggested.

"Sure." Carley smiled back at him as Lee, Jack and Mark sighed internally, having an opportunity to hear a few of Doug's jokes in the past and needless to say, Carley was the only adult in the group who was finding them funny. Ben raised his brow at their reactions.

"Did you hear about the guy who invented the knock-knock joke? He won the NO-BELL prize." Doug voiced his joke to Carley as Jack, Lee and Jack deadpanned, cringing internally at the joke. Ben shook his head, finding himself slightly cringing at the joke as well. Now he could understand why the others reacted like this.

"Alright. We should get going. We'll see again soon." Carley replied, keeping her smile on her smile as Ben silently nodded. With everything they needed for the trip back to the motor inn ready, Carley and Ben turned around from the rest and went outside the gate. Lee, Jack, Mark, Doug Andy, Danny and Brenda watched them walk away until they disappeared among the woods.

"Well, I think I should start getting the dinner for your group in ready." Brenda stated after Carley and Ben vanished from their view as she looked at her younger son, "Danny, why don't you come help me out in the kitchen."

Danny nodded at his mother, "Of course, mama."

"May I ask what can we except for dinner?" Doug asked as he rubbed the back of his head with a sheepish look on his face, "I'm sorry if I came out as rude now. I'm just really looking forward to the dinner."

"Don't worry, sweetheart. You didn't came out as rude right now. It's actually really good to see you looking forward to the dinner." Brenda assured him with a sweet smile on her face, "You can expect more biscuits you enjoyed so much and who knows, maybe if you're lucky, I'll get some meat out of the pantry. I'm sure a boy such as yourself could use some meat to keep your strength."

"Meat. Didn't you say you lost your cattle?" Jack raised his brow, thinking to himself as Doug nodded his head at Brenda, showing her just how delighted he was by the answer.

Andy waited until his mom and brother left him with the others before saying to the group of four, ""Why don't ya take a look around? Once ya get settled in, I could use some help securin' the perimeter."

"Is something wrong?" Lee asked.

"Sometimes, the dead get tangled up in the fence before they fry and end up knocking over a post." Andy explained, "It'd be a BIG help if you could walk the perimeter. You can learn a li'l something about our fence. I'm gonna go top off the generators before they run dry. Come get me when you're ready."

"Alright." Jack nodded at Andy as Andy turned away from them and made his way towards one of the generators for the fence. Once Andy was out of their hearing range, he shifted his gaze between his group and asked them, "What do you think about this place?"

Mark gave him his answer a second later with excitement evident both on his face and in his voice, "This place is INCREDIBLE! They've got food! And that fence, aw man that fence!"

"If we play our cards right this could be a place we could stay." Doug nodded in agreement with a smile on his face, "So how should we play this?"

Jack shook his head, "Now, just hold on. We can't just bring everyone here to stay when we barely know the place." .

"He's right." Lee nodded in agreement, "We should take a look around, see if this place is as safe as they're telling us."

Mark looked at them with a thoughtful look on his face and sighed, "Yeah..."

"I guess you two are right." Doug nodded in agreement.

Mark turned towards the broken swing he had noticed upon entering the dairy and pointed towards it, "I noticed that broken swing. Not a big deal, but maybe there are other things around here not working that we just can't see yet."

"If Andy has us check out the fence," Doug informed them, "It would be an opportunity chance to check out their defenses."

"So what do we do for now?" Mark asked.

"Have a look around," Lee told everyone, "Let me know if you turn up anything strange."

Lee, Jack, Mark and Doug exchanged nods with each other and split up a second later. Lee took the time too investigate that swing, see if there was any way he could fix it up for Clementine and Duck when they got her as Mark went ot the electric fence to check and Doug went to the Andy who was filling up the generator with the gassoline, wanting to strike a small talk with him about the fence and everything.

Jack nodded to himself, knowing what to do now after seeing his group split up. He walked up the hill the house was on. He made his way onto the front porch and took a look around, seeing all the awards the dairy had won back in the day. He admired the awards for a few seconds before knocking on the front door. The door opened a few seconds later and Brenda came out of the house with a warm smile on her face,

"Well hi there, Jack!" She greeted him, "What can I do for ya, sweetie?"

"Can I help you with anything around the house?" Jack offered. If Brenda would accept, then it would be a perfect chance for him to check what they had inside the house.

Brenda shook his her head at his offer, "I think with Danny's help I've got things pretty well squared away in the kitchen, but feel free to check with Andy. He's got a lot of weight on his shoulders these days so I'm sure he'd love any help he can get."

Jack cursed mentally for his plan of checking the house failing. Even if he couldn't get a look inside the house, it didn't mean he couldn't ask Brenda some questions about the place, though. He looked over his shoulder, gesturing to their surroundings, "Your family has done an amazing job of keeping this place up."

Brenda smiled at him gratefully, "Well, now, aren't you sweet, thank you, Lee. The boys and I have tried to adapt as best we can, but we still keep some of our old routines to help remind us of better times."

Jack smiled back at her. His smile faded away a second later when he asked her another question, though, "What happened to the rest of your staff?"

Brenda's smile faded away from her face and her face and tone became more saddened as she replied, "We've had our share of tragedy here... just like everyone else, I'm sure. Some of our staff took off to find their families soon as they heard the news. The few that stuck around... well, we lost most of 'em the first night those things showed up here. It was... a tough night."

Jack stayed silent for a few seconds, doing his best not to imagine what happened during this "tough night", "I'm sorry for your losses."

"Thank you, Jack." Brenda replied, holding back tears.

"How many rooms does this house have?" Jack tried to change the subject of the conversation.

"Rooms? Why do you ask?" Brenda asked in confusion.

Jack rubbed the back of his head, feeling like he had made a mistake by asking her this question, "Well. Uhm, it looks custom-built. My cousin and her husband were building a house two years ago so it kind of reminded me of it."

"Nice of you to notice." Brenda's confusion was quickly replaced with pride, "My husband put a lot of work into this old house."

"Well, he did a great job." Jack stated.

Brenda smiled and nodded at him, "I believe in making a house a home."

Jack nodded at her before asking her the question he came here for, "Can I ask where did you get the meat for the dinner from?"

Brenda's friendly expression shifted into a less friendly one for a second, "Why are you asking me this, sweetheart?"

"I'm just curious." Jack replied, "Andy said you lost most of your cattle when we were on the way here. Are your sons going hunting or something?"

"Yes. They are." Brenda replied, her expression going back into her friendly one, "My boys are going hunting pretty often nowadays."

"I see." Jack nodded in understanding. Even though Brenda's tone was convincing, something in the back of his mind was telling him there was something off about it, "I'm sorry if I came out as rude by asking you this."

"It's alright, sweetie. I understand you were just curious." Brenda assured him that no harm was done, "Me and my family have nothing to hide from you and your friends."

"Looks like it's done!" Brenda and Jack looked in the direction of the voice and saw Doug, Lee and Andy standing next to the old swing which was repaired by them and now looked as good as new.

"Oh, my goodness." Brenda exclaimed upon seeing the now repaired swing, "Did all three of you did that?"

Andy smiled at his mom, "Sure did, momma."

"We thought about the kids." Jack added as he smiled at her as well, "Hopefully they will like it."

Brenda's mind flew to the time when her boys were just children instead of the grown adults they are now, "You know, I used to push Andy and his brother out here on that swing every night when they were kids. Seems like such a long time ago now."

Andy nodded in agreement, "Sure does."

"Well." Brenda spoke to Jack again as Andy walked away from Lee and Doug and made his way to the generator, "Better get back inside and work on dinner."

"Are you sure you don't need any help in the kitchen?" Jack wanted to try get inside the house for one more time.

"Nah, I've got it. Just need to be in there." Brenda leaned forward a bit and whispered, "I still don't trust Dan being alone in the kitchen."

Brenda laughed at her words before returning inside the house as Jack sighed to himself, shaking his head at how he had failed to get inside the house. He left the porch a second later, having no reason to remain there and made his way down the hill. He closed the gate and looked at Lee and Doug as Mark made their way to them. The group of four exchanged glances with each other upon making their way to each other.

"How was Brenda?" Lee asked Jack as Jack stopped in front of him and Doug.

"She seemed nice." Jack replied, "At least when I talked with her."

Lee raised his brow, "Is there something off about her?"

Jack shook his head, "Can't tell, all we really talked about was this place and how she and her family were taking care of themselves ever since all of this started. What about Andy? Did you learned anything from him?"

"Nothing too suspicious for the most part." Lee replied.

Doug nodded in agreement, "Me and Lee asked him several questions about this place when we were fixing the swing. He answered to most of them. I asked him if I could check out the barn but..."

Doug's words go caught in his throat before he could finish the sentence as he saw Andy turn from the generator and look at him and the rest of his group. Worried Andy was started to suspect something about all of them, Doug quickly came up with a plan which would prevent everyone from the St. John family from overhearing their conversation.

"What's wrong?" Markasked, taken aback by Doug suddenly cutting himself off.

"I think we should go check the perimeter." Doug suggested, "This way we won't have to worry about anyone from this place overhearing our conversation."

"Good idea. Let's go talk with Andy." Lee agreed with him as Jack and Mark silently nodded in agreement. All four of them wasted not ime and made their way to Andy as Andy stood up as the duo approached him, "We're ready to help out with the fence."

"Good." Andy nodded at them with a smile on his face, "The fence'll stop a walker in about three or four seconds, but gets overloaded if we leave the husks out there."

"You know, we can clear the fence ourselves if you wanna stay here and finish up with the generators." Lee offered.

"Well, that'd be great!" Andy's smile grew wider at Jack's suggestion, "I'll turn off the northwest section, and if you guys could strip 'em off and look for any weak points, that'd be a big help."

Mark nodded in understanding, "Sounds easy enough."

"Stay attentive, ya never know." Andy warned them.

"Don't worry." Jack assured Andy as he and his group turned away from him, beginning to head in the direction of the gate to the perimeter, "We will."

"Stay safe." Andy said as Lee, Jack, Doug and Mark left the yard together.

------

Lee, Jack, Doug and Mark walked together along the perimeter. Things were going pretty smoothly so far for the two of them. There wasn't a single problem with the fence yet, other than a few burnt walkers hanging on it. Jack carried his hatchet hatchet in his right hand so that he could use it to pry any dead from the fence and to kill any that would still be alive by the moment of their arrival. Luckily they only came upon the ones which were already dead so far. Lee held his fire-axe in ready just in case Jack wouldn't be able to use his hatchet as well.

"So how's the place looking? Is it safe enough for us to stay...if we can?" Mark asked, trying to get back to the conversation his group was having before Andy's gaze cut it short.

"I gotta say. It truly is amazing what they've done with this place." Doug commented on their handiwork, "They've got this here fence surroundin' the entire Dairy!"

"But let's see what it takes to secure this fence before drawing any conclusions." Lee replied.

"Yeah," Jack agreed.

Mark smiled slightly, "I can't wait until everyone's out here. Everyone besides Larry..."

Lee turned towards Mark when Larry was brought up by him, "What's up with you telling him what I said about him thinking I'm dangerous?"

Doug raised his brow at this, "What are you talking about?"

"Larry thinks Lee is dangerous. I accidently brought it up back at the Motor Inn and it got Larry worked up." Mark explained to Doug as Doug nodded in understanding. He formed a confused look on his face as well, not understanding why would Larry think Lee is dangers. Mark glanced back at Lee as he added, "Anyway, you're the one who said it. You even admitted it right to his face!"

"I try to be civil, at least." Lee replied.

Mark grinned, "He's too busy being cranky to notice."

"Ain't that the truth." Jack nodded agreement, letting out a chuckle himself as they hey approached a burnt corpse leaning against a fence post, an arrow stuck to it's neck. A crow was feasting on it until the group got close, causing it to fly away, "Here's another one."

Doug pointed at the arrow sticking out of the walker's shoulder, "Who do you think did this?"

"Maybe it was the St. John boys, using him for target practice." Mark guessed before reaching towards the arrow. Doug cringed in disgust as Mark pulled the arrow out. Mark looked at the blackened blood at the tip of the arrow before throwing it away with a disgusted look on his face.

Jack glanced at Lee, "I think your axe will be better for one."

"Yeah. I was thinking the same." Lee nodded in agreement as he pushed the walker off the fence with the fire axe.

Doug shook his head, "Disgusting."

"Come on, I'm sure there's still a few more." Lee said as he pushed himself into walk again.

"Yeah." Mark nodded as he followed him with Jack and Doug quickly doing the same. Upon pushing himself into walk again, he looked around himself again and took a good look at the what the dairy was presenting. It was enough to make him smile again, "Man, once we know the fence is all good this place will be a fortress! God, can you imagine not having to worry about the walkers anymore?"

"It's useless without gas." Jack reminded him.

Lee nodded in agreement, "We might need food, but the St. Johns need gas too."

"Not many drivers these days, guys. We could scrounge up a year's worth of gas, easy." Mark pointed out to them. He shot Jack a questioning look a second later, "Can I ask you something? I know I already asked you this question but I just can't take it off my mind? Why did you became more suspicious of the St. John's after Doug asked Brenda what was for dinner tonight?"

"It was after Brenda mentioned the possibility of having meat on dinner tonight." Jack replied, "I'm just wondering where they could get enough meat to feed our entire group from. Andy mentioned they lost most of their cattle and this is a dairy not a ranch."

"Perharps they are going on the hunting trips into the woods just like our group does." Mark suggested.

"This is what Brenda told me when I asked her about it." Jack replied, "I know this reason makes sense, because our group is going hunting too, but I still can't believe it. When was the last time we caught an animal capable of feeding everyone in our group?"

"Too long." Mark sighed as he was unable to remember the last time when he and his group hunted down such a large animal. He rubbed the back of his head a second later, "Now that you said this, you're right. This is weird."

Jack raised his brow, "Really? You don't think I'm just being paranoid for a stupid reason?"

"No. Even though I think we should give this place a chance, it doesn't change the fact that you raised a valid point here." Mark shook his head as they stumbled upon another burnt walker a few seconds later. They stopped in front of the walker and Lee used his fire axe push it off the fence, but it's hands remained stuck to the fence. Having no other way of dealing with it, Jack put his hatchet to good use and quickly severed the walker's wrists, leaving the hands stuck the fence as the walker fell down.

Jack shook his head, "I'll never get used to the smell."

"Me too." Lee nodded in agreement, letting out a a sigh as they walked off towards the other part of the fence with their eyes open for a new walker. They didn't have to search for long. They came across another walker several seconds later. A section of fence had fallen down with a walker tangled in it. A silo and tractor were close to the fence on the other side of it.

Doug set his eyes on the walker, "This one must've knocked it over trying to get through."

"Good thing we went here to check the fence." Lee stated, "Come on. The fence needs to be up before we can get Mr. Crispy out."

"Alright." Jack replied as Lee jumped over the fence so he could get a better leverage and pull the fence back up as Jack, Mark and Doug a;; followed him. Upon reaching the other side of the fence, Jack and Lee exchanged glances before getting to work. Lee pushed on the left fencepost while Jack pushed on the right, managing to push the fence back up a few seconds later.

Jack stretched his arms above his head once the fence was standing again, "It's done."

"You know." Jack said after Lee and Jack pushed the fence back up, "I'm actually glad I went here."

Mark raised his brow, "It is because of the fence?"

"No. It's because of something else." Doug shook his head, "I didn't really got a chance to leave the motel often due to my lack of skills and me being less talented than you when it comes to the stuff you do outside the motel."

Lee raised his brow in concern, "Doug? What are you saying?"

Doug sighed, "I just sometimes feel useless at the hotel, you know? All of you keep risking your lives by going out there while I stay here for most of the time."

Lee shook his head, "Don't say that, Doug."

Jack nodded in agreement, "Yeah. Even if you don't go out as much as the rest of us do, it doesn't make you any less valuable than the rest of us."

"Our home would have been less secure of it wasn't for you." Mark added, "The security system is really something only someone with your skills would have come up with."

"Yeah. You're right. I still would have felt better if went out as much as you did. Maybe I'll ask Lilly if she can assign me to the supply runs or your hunting trips. I'll finally put Carley's shooting lessons to good use as well." Doug smiled at them gratefully as he shifted his gaze to Jack and set his eyes on him, "You know something, Jack? I never got a chance to thank..."

As soon as Doug was about to express his gratitude to Jack for saving him back in Macon, the lights on multiple post flickered to life, there was a sizzling sound as smoke came off of the still entangled walker.

Jack eyes widened in suprise, "What the fuck?"

"Why would they turn the fence back on?" Mark asked with an alarmed look on his face, "They know we're still out here!"

Just as Jack and Mark voiced their confusion and suprise, an arrow came flying from the woods and hit Doug in the shoulder. Doug screamed in pain, his eyes widening at the explosions of pain going through his body as he gripped onto his shoulder in agony. Lee, Jack and Mark's eyes widened as they saw what just happened to Doug and grew even more scared when another arrow came flying from the forest and and flew inches in front of his face.

"I told you what would happen, you son of a bitch!" A voice screamed from the woods.

"What the?!" Doug asked, trying to fight back the pain.

"Get to the gate!" Lee shouted.

As they ran for it two more arrows struck the ground and the fence before them, letting them know they won't reach the gate without receiving an arrow to the head. Having no other option, the four of them quickly ran over to the tractor nearby and hid behind it, using it a cover from the arrows fired their way by the bandits.

"Jesus!" Doug cried out in pain, catching his breath as he continued to do his best to fight back the pain he was feeling right now.

"Don't worry, Doug! You'll be fine!" Lee tried to assure him everything was going to be okay as he just like Doug tried to catch his breath.

"We had an agreement! Now you're fucked!" The same voice from earlier rang from the woods.

"Who are these guys?!" Mark asked.

Jack shook his head, "I don't know. They might be the bandits we saw when we were on the way to the dairy and the bandits Ben and Travis told us about."

"Fuck." Mark swore, "What do we do now?"

Lee looked towards the gate in the distance, "We'll find a way to reach the gate. This is our only way out of here."

Jack nodded at him and looked over his shoulder at Doug, "Hang in there, Doug. We'll get you out of there."

"Don't worry about me," Doug lied through clenched teeth, "I'm alright."

Mark shook his head, "No, you're not. You just got shot in the shoulder with a fucking arrow!"

"Don't worry, it looks worse than it actually is." Doug replied painfully, doing his best not to show the pain he was in right now as Lee looked ahead of them and something caught his attention.

"Hold this." He shifted his attention back to his group for a moment, handing his fire axe to Mark. Not wasting any time, he went in front of the tractor and quickly removed the chock from in front of the tire. Lee got next to the tractor again pushed on it, but it didn't budge.

"Guys! Those blades are stuck in the dirt!" Doug groaned in pain as Jack looked around the tractor and saw the plow attached to the back. His reaction was instant. He pulled the lever, lifting the plow's blades of the ground. Without anything keeping it in place the tractor began to roll forward at a steady pace.

"Don't worry, Doug! If we reach the gate we can get through this fence and back to the house!" Mark shouted as the attackers continued their assault, yelling all kinds of insults towards them. The tractor stopped a second later, causing him to raise his brow, "Why did it stop?"

"One of the dead we pushed out is blocking it." Lee explained as he pulled the walker out of the way.

The tractor started moving again and Lee, Mark, Doug and Jack continued to stay next to it, eeping themselves hidden away from the attackers view. Arrows continued to fly above their heads as a few of them struck the tractor and bounced off harmlessly. Soon the tractor stopped again and Jack noticed another walker laying in front of the tires,

"Another one?" Doug asked, groaning in pain.

Mark shook his head, "How many of those things did we push down?"

"I dunno! I didn't count!" Jack replied as Lee wasted no time grabbed onto one of the zombie's arms and tried to pull it away so the tractor could start moving again. Before he could move it away, the walker came to life and grabbed onto him with both of it's hands, beginning to pull the him towards itself. Lee began to kick the undead in the face which unfortunely didn't do much to help him escape this situation.

Doug shifted his gaze between Mark and Jack who continued to wield their weapons as he uttered through pain, "Kill it!"

"I can't!" Mark shook his head, "There isn't enough space to swing this thing!"

Jack nodded in agreement, cursing himself for being unable to help Lee right now, "Yeah! Same here."

When the walker pulled Lee's hand close to it's face and prepared to sink it's teeth into it, Lee used all the strength he had left in himself and pulled his hand away from it's mouth. The force of his pull was so strong it tore off the top half of the walkers body was torn from its legs. Lee, Mark, Doug and Jack cringed in disgust as Lee threw it aside.

The tractor started to move again as Lee, Mark, Doug and Jack made sure to follow it. The walker which had it's top half separated from the rest of it's body a few seconds earlier by Lee started to chase them. Jack looked over his shoulder, seeing it going after them and readied himself to take it out once it will be close enough. It fortunely never managed to reach them as it got shot in the eye with an arrow, killing it off for good.

The tractor continued to move until it hit the side of a silo, luckily this time they were only two steps from the fence. Lee got up and kicked it open, "Let's go!"

"You lucky sons of bitches, go ahead and run! We ain't going nowhere!" One of the bandits shouted as Lee, Mark, Doug and Jack went inside the fence to safety, escaping a few more arrows which were fired their way.
