Macon
The drive to Macon had been a long dull one. Jack and Andre didn't spoke much with each other as both of them focused themselves on their ride to Macon while making sure not to lose the track of Kenny's truck in front of them. Using the time they had spent on the way to Macon, Andre tried to contact his fellow cops through the radio but unfortunely no one answered his calls. Everyone must have been too busy dealing with their own crap to answer him.
The police officer and Jack listened to what the radio had to say to them as well, learning about Atlanta and the safe zone which apparently was being set up there for the people which were affected by this sickness or 'The Living Dead Syndrome" as the radio described it to Jack the day before. The two exchanged glances with each other when Atlanta was brought up, making a mental note of the safe zone just in case if they will fail to find themselves a safe place of their own to wait everything out.
The sun had set only moments ago when the group arrived at Macon and Kenny's truck came a sudden stop shortly after they had entered the town. Andre stopped his car a second later, not wanting to drive into Kenny's truck as he and Jack exchanged glances with each other, wondering Kenny had stopped like this all of a sudden. Kenny, Lee, Katjaa, Clementine and Duck started to get themselves out of Kenny's truck a second later and Andre and Jack followed their example and started to get themselves out of the cruiser, knowing there must have been a reason why all five of them left Kenny's truck.
"Why are we stopping?" Jack asked, closing the door to the cruiser as he shot Kenny a questioning glance.
"This is a far as we're going. My truck is completely dry right now." Kenny explained, "Guess neither of you have some gas to spare?" Andre shook his head, making him say, "Then we have to go deeper into the town, hopefully we'll find some gas there."
"Let's go, then." Andre nodded and shifted his gaze between everyone in the group, "Keep your eyes open everyone. We don't know what's waiting for us in Macon."
"Good thing you ran out of the gas this close to Macon." Jack stated, "At least we won't have to walk for long."
The group pushed themselves into a walk, heading further into Macon. The further they ventured into Macon, the better look they got at the state the town was in right now. Even though most of them have never been in Macon, they could easily tell that the town was a shell of it's former shelf. The streets were filled with abandoned cars and all the buildings in the town, no matter of they were residental buildings or stores seemed abandoned too.
A person in the distance managed to catch Kenny's attention after the group entered one part of the town. He raised his his hands and shouted to gain the unknown's person attention, "Hey there! You friendly? Truck's run out of gas!"
The figure stopped what it was doing and looked to where the group was standing, revealing itself to be a walker. More walkers suddenly started coming from every direction, stumbling and crawling out from store fronts, under cars and out from the alleyways and began to approach the group from all sides.
Kenny looked around himself, trying to find a place where his group could hide from the undead, finding none, "Fuck!"
"We're surrounded!" Jack shouted, taking out the hatchet which was given to him by Chet shortly before he and his group left the farm. It seemed like he would get an opportunity to use it sooner than he excepted.
He glanced to the side when he heard Duck scream, seeing how the boy was brought down to the ground by a walker. The walker got itself on top of the boy as Duck cried out for help. The walker on top of Duck got it's head blown open by a gunshot a second, covering the boy in it's blood. Katjaa and Kenny quickly ran over to their son, happy he was okay as Jack looked at the person who just saved Duck from a walker, excepting to see Andre. Much to his suprise, he saw two people he had never seen before. He saw a woman holding a smoking pistol and an Asian man. They must have run out of the drugstore behind them.
"Run!" The Asian man shouted as the pistol lady continued to fire her pistol at the walkers.
Not wasting any time, the group quickly ran into the drugstore their two saviors came from. When they were inside the building, the pistol lady and the Asian man followed them into it, the latter quickly closing the gate that was outside the door and placing a combination lock on it. It was when the walkers reached the gate and began slamming themselves against it, trying to reach the people who entered the drugstore.
Once everyone were inside the drugstore, a woman in a brown tank top immediately voiced how displeased she was by their actions, "We can't take risks like this."
"And we can't just leave people to die either!" The pistol lady retorted.
"When I say that door stays shut no matter what, I fucking mean it!" The woman in a brown tank top shouted and gestured to the new arrivals, "We don't these who these people are. They could be dangerous."
"Or worse, they could have led'em right to us!" An older man cried out in anger, joining the argument.
The pistol lady looked at him in shock, "Where the hell is your humanity?! They would've died out there!"
The old man however was not fazed by letting people get eaten alive, "Then we let'em."
"We're not dangerous." Lee said, trying to defuse the situation, "We're just regular folk."
"What's dangerous is a bunch of people running outside and drawing their attention to us." The tank top lady retorted.
"Oh, yes." Jack was growing annoyed by the tank top lady, "Because that's exactly what we wanted to happen. For a group of those things to get us. Use your brain, lady. We obviously didn't know that this was gonna happen! We just found ourselves in this town. We had no idea it was filled with those things!"
"They're both right." Kenny quickly agreed with Lee and Jack, "We're just regular folks, but we like helping people,"
"You'll have to excuse her." The pistol lady said.
"The hell he, or anyone will. This is about survival, do you guys not see what's happening?" The tank top lady was getting more pissed by this situation as Lee felt someone grab his hand.
He looked down at this persona and saw Clementine, "What is it?"
"I have to pee." Clementine whispered to him.
"In a minute, Clem." Lee whispered back.
"They got kids Lilly." The Asian man pointed out.
"Those things outside don't care." The tank top lady, now named Lilly, pointed out in return.
"Maybe you should go join them then. You'll have something in common!" Kenny stated angrily.
"Goddamn it, Lilly, you have to control these people!" The older man told her harshly.
"Carley and Glenn just ran out there!" Lilly argued as she pointed at the two.
"She's not wrong. They took a risk." Andre stated.
Lilly nodded, turning to the police officer. At least one of these new people was making any sense to her, "Yes. We did."
"And we appreciate it. Now let's settle down." Andre said, trying to stop this argument from escalating.
The older man was about to say something, but quickly forgot what he was about to say when he saw Duck, "Son of a bitch! One of them is bitten!"
"He wasn't bitten!" Lee quickly denied.
"Hell, he wasn't!" The old man replied and stepped towards Duck, "We have to end this. Now."
Kenny immediately got himself in the old man's way, a furious look on his face, "Over my dead body."
"We'll dig one hole." The old man threatened Kenny, glaring at him angrily for getting in his way.
"No! I'm cleaning him up, there's no bite, he's fine!" Katjaa shouted in panic, trying to keep her only son safe.
Jack walked over to Kenny's side and glared at the old man, "Don't even think about it, old man."
"Don't You fucking people get it?!" The old man shouted, "We've already seen this happen. We let someone with a bite stay, and we all get bitten!"
"Shut up!" Kenny yelled at him.
"We know how the bites work like." Jack ponted towards Andre, "Andre told us everything."
The old man shifted his gaze from Kenny to Andre, "You know how bites work like and you're perfectly okay with keeping a bitten person here?"
"We shouldn't take any actions, before we will be sure if the kid is really bitten." Andre voiced his mind about this matter.
"You dumbass." The old man glared at Andre, insulting him to his face, "A cop like you should have been smarter. You're going to get all of us killed with your thinking! We've gotta throw him out o-or smash his head in."
"Kenny! Stop him!" Katjaa shouted desperately.
Kenny looked at the people who came to Macon with him, "Guys. What do we do about this guy?"
"We find a way to reason with him." Lee replied, trying to find a way which doesn't end with a scenario of the two groups breaking into a fight.
"With the bloody end of an axe-handle, maybe!" Kenny pointed out, "Nobody threatens my boy."
"Everybody chill the fuck out!" Carley shouted.
Lilly looked around everyone the drugstore right now, giving all of them a stern look, "Nobody is doing anything."
"Shut up, Lilly." The old man told his daughter and turned towards Carley with a scowl on his face, "And you shut the fuck up. They will find us, and they will get in here and none of this will fucking matter. But right now we're about to be trapped in here with one of those things!"
"Do you really want to throw out a kid into the street filled those things over an assumption?" Andre asked. He knew how big of a danger a bitten person could be for all of them, but they could not take any measures without confirmation, "While yes, we can't be too sure if he was not bitten, that doesn't mean you can kill him. Just sit down for a minute and see if he really is bitten before you will take any action."
Jack nodded in agreement, crossing his arms, "Couldn't have put it better myself, Andre."
"You want to wait a minute?" The old man didn't seem convinced by Andre's words, "By that time, he will be already chewing on his mother's face."
"He's not bitten!" Katjaa insisted in fear, "Lee, stop this! It's upsetting him!"
"O-oh, I'm upsetting him?" The old man set his eyes on Katjaa and laughed, "Upsetting is getting eaten alive!"
"Dad, we get it. It's a big deal," Lilly tried to calm her father down with a concerned expression on her face.
"Do you?" Her father frowned at her, "You're not fucking acting like it Lilly."
"What if this was your daughter?" Lee asked, trying to reason with the old man for one more time.
"Never woulda' happen!" The old man retorted, "She's not some snot nossed toddler, ok? She's United State Air Force."
"Oh, fuck you and her!" Kenny shouted, "I'm gonna kill him Kat! Just worry about Duck."
"Lee!" Clementine called out for Lee, having made her way to the bathroom during this argument.
Lee looked at her, "Yeah?"
"There's someone in there." Clementine replied.
"It's just locked." Lee explained, "Key's behind the counter. Probably."
"Hey, I'm not the bad guy here. I'm just looking after my daughter!" The old man tried to defend himself at this point.
"Considering you want to murder a child just because you think he was bitten, with no evidence to prove it, then yeah, it's safe to say you are the bad guy here." Jack pointed out.
"He's covered in muck, you dumbass, she'll find a bite, watch!" The old man retorted.
"She won't." Kenny denied, boiling with anger.
"And if she does?" The old man replied, "First thing he'll do is sink his teeth into his mom's face. Then once she's dead, he'll probably pounce on your little girl. They'll turn fast, and then there'll be three. And that boy is the ball game!"
"He's a little boy. I think we can handle him." Lee stated.
"A little boy?" The old man asked, "He'll be an uncontrollable man eater!"
"It's not gonna happen!" Kenny shouted, getting more tired of this old man with each passing second.
"It is and we're tossing him out now!" The old man shouted, near his breaking point.
"No!" Lee snapped, clenching his teeth as she knew the time for negotation was over. He had tried to talk everything through with the old man, but he wasn't listening to him. If that wasn't working, then he knew he had to try something else, "You don't touch that boy! You don't touch anybody! I've got a little girl I'm trying to protect too." Lee got up in Larry's face, while Larry was ready to snap as Kenny, Katjaa and even Jack and Andre in some way looked thankful of him stepping in like this, "You wanna get violent you old fuck?! Well, COME ON! You better have a plan to kill me though, because it's me before anyone else in here!
Lee and the old man continued to glare at each other in silence. The tension between them was palpable. The tension between them was broken due to Clementine screaming in fear. Everyone looked towards where the girl was and saw a walker jumping out of them bathroom. The undead landed on the floor and began crawling towards Clementine who could only back away from it in fear.
The old man's eyes widened, "Jesus!"
"Clementine!" Lee shouted in worry.
His reaction to seeing Clementine in danger was in. He began limping towards her and the walker as fast as he could, but unfortunely his wounded leg eventually caused him to fall to the floor. Knowing how little on time he was right now, he got himself back on his feet. By the time he reached them, the walker grabbed Clementine by her leg, trying to bring it closer to itself.
"Get away from her you son of a bitch!" He shouted as he grabbed the walker and pulled it away from Clementine.
The undead changed it's target the moment it set it's dead looking eyes on Lee and lunged towards him. Lee grabbed the walker by it's shoulders as he struggled to keep the undead away from him. As the undead was getting closer to sinking it's teeth in his neck, a bullet suddenly went through the walker's skull, killing it immediately. He turned to look at the person who just saved him from the walker and saw Carley.
Carley lowered her smoking pistol, looking at him in worry, "You okay?"
"Just great." Lee replied, panting, "Thanks."
"Look, look!" Katjaa exclaimed with relief evident in her voice to gain everyone's attention as she had just finished cleaning her son, "He's clean! Not a single scratch on him!"
Kenny smiled smugly at the old man, "What do you think of that, asshole?"
"I'm Larry and I'm fucking sorry." The hostility was gone from Larry's voice, but he didn't sound remorseful.
The Asian man slowly turned towards the barricades as he heard some noise coming from over there, "Guys?"
Unfortunely, Carley's shot had drawn some unwanted visitors towards the drugstore. Everyone heard how the undead began pounding against the barricades, trying to get into the drugstore. Everyone stepped away from the barricades just in case they will go down, which all of them hoped was not going to happen as they knew how badly it would end for all of them.
"Everyone down! Stay quiet!" Lilly said in a yelled whisper as everyone went down and began hiding the shelves, hoping the walkers will eventually lose interest in them.
"The're gonna get in!" Larry said in genuine fear, peeking above the shelf he was hiding behind.
"They will if you don't shut up!" Jack whispered to him.
"I don't know." Andre stated as it was when everyone heard the sound of a gunfire of automatic rifles and shotguns coming from the distance. They even could hear a helicopter somewhere in the distance, "Those barricades seem pretty weak."
"Is that the military?" Lee asked.
"I don't know." Lilly gave him an honest answer.
"Thang God for whatever it is." The Asian man stated as the walkers lost their interest in the drugstore and began walking away from it, presumably towards where the shots came from.
"Yeah. Whoever they are, they just saved our lives." Jack said with relief evident in his tone. Once the walker's attention had been drawn away, everyone eased out of hiding. Larry was the first to speak.
"We almost died because of this bitch and her itchy trigger finger! That was stupid! That was..." Before he could finish, Larry groaned and clutched his chest. He fell to his knees as his heart pulsed in agony."
"DAD!" Lilly rushed over as Larry slumped to the floor, grunting in pain. She took a knee and tried to analyze the problem.
"What's wrong with him?!" Lee asked.
"It's his heart." Lilly answered.
"Well, if you ask me he kind of had that comin'." Jack muttered under her breath.
"My pills..." Larry rasped.
"Uh-um, Nitroglycerin pills?" Katjaa wanted to be sure.
"Yes, we're out. We've been trying to get into the pharmacy since we got here!" Lilly confirmed it with a nod of her head and provided an explanation, "Please, try to get in there behind the counter where the pills are!" She pleaded.
"There's probably another entrance. Maybe through the office." Lee stated as he glanced past the locked bars across the counter.
Carley raised her brow at this, "How do you know that's an office?"
Lee shrugged, "Educated guess."
"It doesn't matter." Lilly added as she guided her father near the office door, and had him rest against one of the shelves. Larry's breathing was forced, but he appeared stable enough for now. "We need nitroglycerin pills, so please get in there. I'll keep an eye on my dad."
"Everyone else should get comfy and look for anything useful. We could be in here for a while." Kenny took charge of everything once Lilly left to take care of her father.
"I'm starting to think this drugstore isn't a permant solution." The Asian man stated.
"You're right." Kenny agreed, "This ain't exactly Ft. Knox."
"Yeah." Jack agreed with him , "Things won't be pretty if those things come knocking again."
Jack looked at the Asian man, "Do you have any plan?...We actually never learned your name."
"I'm Glenn." Glenn introduced himself to them before revealing his plan, "We need as much gas as possible so we can all get out downtown Macon fast."
Lee nodded in agreement, "Agreed."
"Then, I'll head out and get gas." Glenn volunteered, "There's a motel not to far from here, out towards the end of Peachtree. I'll work my way towards it and then loop bac, siphoning what I can."
"You know your way around the town?" Lee asked.
"Born and raised." Glenn smiled proudly.
Lee nodded and handed him his walkie-talkie, "If you're gonna do that, here's a walkie-talkie if you get in a right spot. Hopefully you won't need it."
Glenn took the walkie-talkie from him, "Cool."
"Clementine's got the other one. Check in with her and get back as soon as you can." Lee explained as Glenn nodded in understanding.
Kenny shifted his gaze from Glenn to the young man who was silent for the entire argument, "And you, you keep an eye on that front door. You're our look-out."
"It's Doug." The young man introduced himself as Doug, "You got it."
"I'm Carley." The pistol lady introduced herself.
"Okay, Carley." Kenny said, "You'll shift in with Doug when he needs it. For now, get some rest, you're a good shot and I'd like to keep it that way."
Carley nodded, "You got it, boss."
Lilly didn't seem happy that Kenny was ordering her group around like he was charge of it, but stayed silent about it.
As everyone started to split up around the drugstore, Lee watched how Glenn started to walk towards the office from where he would head to the motor inn, beginning to wonder if they should send someone with him as a backup just in case if things went wrong.
"Hey, Glenn!" He called out for Glenn to gain his attention, knowing it would be safer for Glenn if he didn't went alone on this supply run.
Glenn stopped in his tracks and turned around to look at him, "Yeah?"
"I think someone should go with you." Lee said, "It's too dangerous for you to go alone. It's not safe out there and you could use a backup just in case if something went wrong at the motel."
"I don't know about this, man." Glenn looked uncertain at the thought of someone accompaying him to get the gas, "It seems more risky if you ask me. It would just make it easier for those things to spot us."
"Glenn. You were just on the streets, right?" Lee said in an attempt to convince Glenn, "You saw how many of those things are out there. There might be even more of them at the motel. What will you do if you'll get spotted by them and you'll have no one to back you up?"
"Fine. Who will go with me?" Glenn nodded, seeing a point in Lee's way of thinking and looked around the people gathered in the drugstore as Lee looked around himself to see who was carrying a weapon in the drugstore. Jack had his hatchet, Andre had his pistol and Carley had her pistol. He nodded to himself a second later, beginning to think who would be the best option to join Glenn on his supply run to the motel.
"Jack. Andre." He called out for Jack and Andre after a second of thought as the two people in question turned to look at him, "Will go with Glenn?"
Jack nodded his head at Lee's request, "Sure."
"You can count on me." Andre voiced on objections to the idea as well.
Glenn shifted his gaze between Andre and Jack, "We should go. The sooner we get the gas, the better."
"I hear ya." Jack nodded in agreement.
"We'll be back as soon as we can." Andre added , "Everyone else work on finding a way to enter the pharmancy."
Lee gave him a nod, "This is exactly what I am going to do. Watch out for yourself out there. All of you."
"Don't worry." Jack gave himan assuring nod, "We'll be back before you'll notice we're I'm gone."
With that being said, Jack, Andre and Glenn walked together into the office from where they exited the building and walked into the walker infested streets. They slowly and quietly made their way to Glenn's pizza delivery car which was parked at the front of the store and drove off towards their destination.
-------
Glenn parked his delivery car on the left entrance to the motor inn as he, Jack and Andre had just arrived at their destination. The group of three got out of Glenn's delivery, Glenn and Jack making sure to grab the gas cans they had found on their way to the motor inn. They looked around the area, spotting a few cars, a pickup truck and a camper. Fortunately for them, there didn't seem to be any walkers there.
"It's quiet." Andre noted after taking a look around the motor inn.
"Good. We might get this over with quickly." Glenn stated.
Andre nodded in agreement, "Yeah."
Jack pointed at the boarded up window of the office, "Was this place abandoned before this entire mess?"
"Yeah. It closed down not too long ago." Glenn replied.
"Not suprised." Jack stated, "This place is falling apart."
"Let's go check those cars." Glenn said, "We might find some gas in them."
"Actually, Glenn, could you start without us?" Andre asked, "I need to talk about something with Jack in private."
"Sure." Glenn nodded, heading towards the camper.
"What is it you wanted to talk about?" Jack asked Andre a few seconds later as Glenn walked over to the camper, pulled out the siphoning tube and knelt down in front of the gas tank.
"It's about Lee." Andre revealed, "Our talk about him got cut short on the farm when those things attacked Shawn and Duck. What do you think we should do about him being a convicted murderer?"
"I don't think we should confront him about it right away." Jack voiced his opinion on this matter to Lee, "I think we should give him a chance to prove himself."
"Are you sure about this?" Andre asked with a conflicted look on his face, wanting to know if Jack was sure about his answer
"Yeah." Jack nodded in confirmation, "So far, he hasn't shown anything which might indicate that he is a threat to all of us. He helped me save Shawn at the farm, he protected Duck from Larry and he saved Clementine when she was attacked by a walker at the drugstore."
"I see your point." Andre nodded, "Alright. We'll give him a chance to prove himself. But if he will do anything which will put all of us in danger, then we will confront him."
"This is exactly what I had in mind." Jack nodded at him. His and Andre's conversation got cut short when the tearful scream of a woman came from the second floor of the motor inn. The blond haired young man looked around himself in alarm, "What the hell?"
Andre shifted his gaze from Jack to Glenn, "I thought this place was abandoned."
"So did I." Glenn replied as he got up into a standing position. He looked at the second floor of the motor in and gestured towards it, "It came from over there. Let's go."
Not wasting any time, the group of three quickly made their way to where the scream came from and found themselves in front of a boarded up door. Jack thought about taking a look into the room through the window, but backed away from this idea, because the window happened to be boarded up too.
"Miss. Are you alright?" Glenn asked.
"Go away!" The woman in the room shouted, "You got bitten!"
"Miss. I assure you none of us was bitten. We just want to help." Andre tried to convince the unknown woman to open the door.
"No!" The woman replied, "You're lying! You're bitten!"
It was when something below them caught Jack's attention. He looked down and a group of six walkers entering the motor inn, "Guys. Walkers!"
Andre and Glenn shifted their attention from the room to the area below them and saw the walkers Jack had just mention. They quickly got themselves back to the ground level and hid behind the camper for a moment, allowing the walkers to walk past them. After making sure the walkers won't follow them, the group of three left their hiding spot and saw two walkers circling around Glenn's delivery car.
"Shit." Glenn cursed, he the rest going back to their hiding spot behind the camper.
Jack reached for his hatchet and took it out, "We have to take care of them."
Andre sighed, "I wish I could use my pistol right now. Noise will only drag the rest of them right to us if I'll try to use it."
"Don't worry." Jack replied, "I got this."
"Alright. Remember. Aim for the head." Andre reminded Jack.
Jack nodded at him to show his understanding of his words and left his hiding spot behind the camper. He quietly walked over to Glenn's delivery car and stopped behind the nearest walker. He let out a soft exhale, preparing himself as he raised his hatchet in the air. He hit the walker in the back of it's head, killing it instantly. The other walker was alarmed by the noise the now deceased walker made when it's body collided with the ground and slowly shifted it's attention to walker.
The walker snarled, making it's way towards Jack as Andre and Glenn walked out of their hiding spot after hearing how a body just fell to the ground. The walker got closer to Jack as Jack wasted no time and quickly made sure to get rid of the other walker as Andre and Glenn walked over to him. The group of three crouched down and quickly hid themselves behind the short brick wall.
"Good job, Jack." Andre praised him.
Jack nodded at him, "Thanks."
"What do we do now?" Andre asked.
"We can just leave in Glenn's car." Jack suggested, "I don't think the rest of those things will reach, before he'll get his car moving."
Glenn shook his head at the suggestion, "What? Are you crazy? We're not leaving this girl behind. We just killed two of those things. I'm sure the rest won't be a problem."
"He's right." Andre nodded, "We can't just leave her for those things."
Jack looked between Andre and Glenn, knowing they were right, "You know? Scratch what I just said about leaving in Glenn's car. We need to help this girl."
"Exactly, man." Glenn smiled at Jack as Andre silently nodded at him, "So how are we going to do this?"
Andre peeked over the wall to get a better look at his surroundings, "We don't know how hard it's going to be to get her out of that room."
Glenn nodded, "Yeah. It's boarded up."
"Good thing I have my hatchet." Jack stated, "Hopefully it will cut through the boards quickly."
Glenn nodded in agreement, "Yeah."
Jack followed Andre's example and peeked over the wall to see where the other walkers were right now. One was sitting on the ground, sitting against the front of the abandoned car that was on some ramps, two were on the second floor, trying to get into the room where the unknown woman was trapped and the last one was wandering aimlessly by their lonesome close to the doors to the rooms. He hummed to himself, shifting his gaze between the walker sitting against the car and the walker wandering close to the doors to the rooms.
"So we have kill everyone of them in here." Andre stated, referring to the multiple walkers around the parking lot as Jack lowered his head, having no reason to look around himself for any longer. He sighed, "Dammit. I wish I could use my gun right now, because it would save us a lot of time but I don't want to take the risk of leading more of them towards us."
"Let's take a look around." Jack suggested, "We might find something useful."
"Good idea." Andre nodded in agreement. He was about to lower his head but he stopped himself when he noticed laying close to him and his group. A slight smile grew on his face, "And I think I just found something we can use."
Glenn looked at him with a questioning look on his face, "What is it?"
Andre slightly leaned out of his cover and reached for something laying close to the wall. He went back into his cover a second later and showed his recent finding to Jack and Glenn. It was a pillow.
"A pillow?" Glenn asked in confusion.
"Yeah." Andre nodded in confirmation, "It was laying close to us."
"How are we going to use it?" Jack asked, "I don't think you can kill one of those things with a pillow."
"You'll see." Andre replied, "Follow me. I'll show you."
"Alright." Jack replied as Glenn gave Andre a silent nod of his head.
Andre started moving to the right side of the fence as Glenn and Jack followed him. When they stopped, they got a good look at the walker that was sitting against the front of the car that was on some ramps.
"Here." Andre held the pillow out to Jack, "Take it."
Jack took the pillow from Andre, "What do you want me to do with it?"
"Slam it on the walker's face." Andre replied, taking out his gun, "I'll take care of the rest."
Jack nodded in understanding, before walking over to the walker with Andre. The undead noticed them and started growling and snarling right away, but it only did so for a second, as Jack slammed the pillow on it's face. Andre quickly moved over and placed the barrel of the gun on the pillow and pulled the trigger. All the cotton and fluff of the pillow acted as a sound muffler, so the shot barely made any noise as the walker fell to the ground with a hole where it's eye used to be.
"That was sick." Glenn commented a bit too loudly from where he was hiding with an impressed look on his face.
"Yeah." Jack nodded in agreement, making sure to be more quiet than Glenn, "I never thought I will ever see anyone use a pillow as a silencer."
He looked up to second floor where the walkers who were trying to break into the girls room. He saw how the two walkers shifted their attention from the boarded up door to them for a second before going back to slamming the girl's door.
"We should search the car." Andre suggested.
Jack looked away from the two walkers and nodded, "Yeah. I already know how to deal with the guy walking by the rooms."
He opened the door to the car and unlocked the gear shift. He put his hands on the car and began pushing it towards the walker by the rooms. Seeing what he was doing, Andre put his hands on the car too and helped him push it off the ramp. The car was set rolling toward the wall, luckily for them, the walker by the by the rooms happened to be standing in the path of the car. The car hit the walker in the legs and the undead was set with the car into the wall, pinning it against it.
After trapping the walker in one place, Jack and Andre walked over to the trapped walker as Glenn came out of his hiding place, seeing no need in staying in it for any longer and catched up to them. Upon reaching the trapped walker, the undead started to growl and wave its arms around to get the meal it saw before it. It was the last thing it ever did as Jack hit it right in the forehead with his hatchet, killing it.
"Only two more." Andre stated.
Jack nodded in agreement, "Yeah."
Glenn pointed at the fire axe in a broken case behind Jack , "That should help."
"Yeah." Jack agreed as he grabbed the axe and held it out to Glenn, "Take this. You can't be the only one around here who doesn't have anything to defend himself."
"Alright." Glenn took the axe from Jack, "Thanks."
The group of three walked over to the stairs leading to the second floor and made their way to the second floor. With all three of them on the second floor, the two walkers trying to get into the room where the crying woman was hiding shifted their attention to them and moved towards them to attack them.
Jack swung his hatchet at the first walker and hit it right in the forehead, killing it instantly as Andre hit the second walker in the head with the back of his pistol, making it stumble backwards a little. The walker snarled and moved towards the police officer again, but never reached him as Jack made sure to get rid of it with his hatchet.
"Rad." Glenn smirked, walking over to them.
Andre stopped in front of the door and knocked on it a few times, "Hello in there? I'm a police officer, we're here to help."
"Please! Just go away!" The unknown man replied in a tearful tone.
"If you open up we can take you somewhere safer. We've got a group in town." Jack said in an attempt to convince this woman to open the door.
"No no no!" The woman replied, "Please no!"
"Guys." Glenn stepped closer to the door with the fire axe in ready, "She's in trouble."
Knowing what Glenn wanted to do, Andre and Jack stepped away from the door to give him more room. The Asian man swung his fire axe and chopped off the wooden board that barricaded her inside. He tried to open the door and when it didn't work attempted to kick down the door.
"Stop, just stop, I'm coming out." The girl said sadly before opening the door, revealing herself to be a pale young woman with a brown hair. She looked at Jack, Glenn and Andre tearfully, clutching her bleeding side.
Andre sighed, shaking his head, "Oh, no."
"We need to get you help!" Glenn quickly stated, not realizing what kind of wound the woman in front of him had.
The unknown woman looked down sadly, tears almost spilling down from her eyes, "It's too late for that."
"She's bitten." Jack shook his head.
"What?" Glenn exclaimed in suprise.
"I told you. I said go away, 'I'm bit!' But you wouldn't just leave." The unknown woman said, "I know I won't be fine, my boyfriend Lawrence was bitten. You get sick and you die and you come back as one of those things, and you kill anything you can find!"
"You have a boyfriend?" Glenn asked with a dissappointed look on his face.
"Glenn!" Jack exclaimed, looking at Glenn in disbelief as Andre smacked Glenn in the back of his head.
"I don't want that. It's not Christian. Please... please leave me, please go." The unknown woman pleaded. It was when something caught her attention. She set her eyes on Andre's gun, "You have a gun."
"Yeah?" Andre asked, slowly realizing what this girl was going to ask him.
"Can I borrow it?" She asked.
"What do you mean borrow?" Andre wanted to be sure if he understood her correctly.
"Give it to me. I can just...you know end this and then-then there's no problem." The unknown woman explained.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa..." Glenn said.
"PLEASE. I don't wanna be one of them, They're...they're Satanic." The girl pleaded further.
"You're not thinking about giving it to her, aren't you?" Glenn asked Andre. The look Andre gave him was the only answer he needed to get from him, "
What if there's a way we can save her."
"I don't know. I'm sure we can figure something out. If there's one way we can save someone who was bitten from dying, then there has to be another way." Glenn asked, desperately trying to find a way to save this girl as he shifted his gaze from Andre to Jack, "Right, Jack?"
"I'm sorry Glenn, but I agree with Andre." Jack shook his head at him and shifted his gaze to Andre, "Give her the gun, Andre."
"W-What?" Glenn stuttered out with disbelief evident on his face, "You can't be serious. You can't just give up on her like that!
"Look at her Glenn." Jack said in an attempt to convince Glenn, trying to ignore comments that the Asian man had just made, "Look at the state she is in. There's no happy ending to this. She's in pain right now. Do you really want her to suffer?"
"Please. Let them give me the gun. This is what I want." The unknown woman nodded, "Please, I don't want to become one of those things." Andre nodded at her and held his gun out to her. A slight smile formed on her face as she took the gun from the police officer, "Thank you. Thank you so much. I know how hard it must be."
Glenn backed away in disgust, "I can't watch this. Let's go."
"We can't." Jack told him with a saddened look on his face.
Glenn stopped in his tracks and looked at him in disgust, "What? Why not?"
"Because someone has to pick up the gun. We can't leave it." Jack pointed out.
"You two go ahead." Andre told them, "I'll join you in a moment."
"Ok." Glenn nodded in understanding, beginning to make his way to the stairs.
"Are you sure?" Jack asked him.
Andre nodded at him sadly, "Yeah."
Jack nodded and turned away from him. He and Glenn walked over to the stairs. He stayed a little longer, just looking between Andre and the girl, before following the Asian man down the stairs. He reached the ground level a few seconds later and walked over to Glenn's car. He reached to open the door, but stopped and flinched when a loud crack of a gunshot rang out. He sighed, pretending he didn't see the angered look Glenn just send his way and got himself into the car. He sat down in backseat of the vehicle while Glenn took his seat in the driver's car.
A few moments later, Andre entered the passenger seat next to him and closed the door.
The ride back to the drugstore was quiet. No words were said on the way back to the drugstore.
