A New Day
Jack Weaver let out a long yawn when he woke up from his slumber, the ceiling of the motel room he had stayed in last night being the first thing he saw upon opening his eyes. The twenty one year old man looked at the clock hanging on the wall in front of him and checked what hour it was right now, seeing he had woken up around the time he was planning to wake up when he went to sleep the night before.
He nodded to himself at the view of it, glad by the view of it as it mean he will go back to the road without any delay. He sat up on his bed, stretching his arms above her head as he did so to make himself less sleepy. There was a long road ahead of him today and driving while feeling sleepy was the last thing he wanted right now. Even if he will probably have to drink a lot of coffee today due to him intending to stay the entire day on the road.
He nodded to himself a second later, knowing it was time for him to start the day as he shifted his attention to the suitcase next to his bed. He picked it up from the floor and opened it, pulling out the clothes he was planning to wear today. The clothes he choose to wear today weren't anything extraordinary. He choose to wear a hoddie which is black on the chest with an army pattern on the sleeves and the hood with a black shirt with a large white skull underneath it, grey pants and red shoes.
After pulling his clothes out of his suitcase, he shifted his attention to the door on the other side of the room which was leading to the bathroom. He walked over to the door and pushed it open, before entering the bathroom, wanting to prepare himself for the day, even if he will once again spend most of it on the road to his destination in the next state of this country.
He closed the door behind him and locked it, not wanting anyone to enter the bathroom when he'll be inside it even if it was unlikely due to him traveling alone. He walked over to the sink with the intention of brushing his teeth with the toothbrush and the toothpaste he had brought with herself to this motel room. He looked at the own reflection, eyeing his "Just woken up" appearance. He shook his head to himself at how big of a mess he was right now. He was a fairly tall young man as he stood close to 6 feet, standing at around 5'9 and had a short dirty blond hair and blue eyes.
The blond haired young man didn't think much of his sleepy eyes, though as he knew he will get himself out of his "Just woken up" state soon. He finished brushing his teeth a moment later. He turned the sink on and used it to wash the toothbrush before putting it aside. He stepped away from the mirror right after and walked over to the shower, intending to take a quick shower.
He turned the shower on for a second to check the state of water. After ensuring the water was in a good condition, he turned the water off and began preparing herself for his shower. The preparation didn't took him long. He put his sleepwear and his underwear away from the shower as he didn't want either of those to get wet. He aftewards walked into the shower and turned the water on again, beginning his shower.
As the warm water proceeded to wash the soap he had just covered himself with off his body, he let out a sigh as he wondered how much more time it will take before he will reach his destination. Two weeks ago he received an invitation for the wedding of his cousin Alden and his fiancée Lisa and accepted it, knowing he can't really say no to it. It's not like he didn't want to attend it anyway.
There was one main problem when it came to it, though. He had to travel across the country for the wedding of his cousin as he and his girlfriend lived across the country. Jack originally came from Louisiana and Alden and Lisa lived in Pennsylvania. Knowing there was some driving ahead of him, Jack jumped into his car about two days ago and started his journey for Pennsylvania. The comforting part about his trip was the fact that he was already halfway through his trip.
After the shower which lasted a few minutes, Jack dried herself with a towel, put the clothes he had taken out of the suitcase and his underwear back on himself and walked back into the room. Knowing he had no reason to remain in his room for any longer, he took all of his belongings with him and made sure he didn't miss anything. He walked out of the room a few seconds later, making sure to leave the door locked and went to the reception to book himself out of the place.
Upon making a quick visit to the reception and eating a quick breakfast at the motel's cafeteria to make sure he won't enter the road while feeling hungry, Jack made his way to his car and unlocked it. His placed his luggage on the back seat of his car, not wanting it to interrupt him while he'll be driving towards his destination. He didn't want to place it on the other front seat of the car due to him keeping a bunch of energy drinks and canned coffee on t, making himself look more like someone who was going to run a marathon instead of someone who was going to drive through the entire Georgia.
Jack sat down on the front seat of the car, before placing the key in the ignition and looked up after taking seat on the front seat of his car, adjusting the rear view mirror to have a good look at the area behind him to make sure he won't hit the car standing behind him. He, as well as the owners of all the cars that were parked next to him would have preferred if that didn't happen for all the obvious reasons.
The blond haired young man turned on some radio a second later, wanting to have some entertainment while he'll be on the road and some morning news from the radio channel he did not know the name of rang through his ears, "Uh- okay breaking news, everyone, this is more information about the er, disease scientists are calling Living Dead Syndrome, which appears to be spreading over rapidly. There has been a car accident on the highway and from there... Police are on the scene now. It's best if you keep yourselves and your family indoors while our government patches up the situation..."
"What...?" Jack thought to himself, having no idea what to make of this news as he stopped himself just as he was about to twist the key in the ignition and raised his brow at whatever he had just heard. 'The Living Dead Syndrome'?. What was that supposed to mean? What kind of name was that in the first place? It sounded like something you'd see in a cliche movie or something.
He wrote it off as nothing important a second later, intending to focus himself back on his road to Pennsylvania. Whatever was going on must have not been that big, anyway. Whatever it was must have been a few attacks caused by a few drug addicts or something like that. Not wasting any waste any time by dwelling on it, he turned the key in the ignition to turn on the engine of his car.
He grabbed the steering wheel as soon as the engine of his car was turned on, grabbing the stick and turned it backwards as he started to drive backwards, leaving his parking spot without much difficulties. As he continued to make out of his parking spot, he found himself thinking back to what the radio host said about a car accident on the nearby highway. Jack nodded to himself at this information, making a mental note to himself as he intended to stay away from the highways for now and intended to stick to the side roads instead.
"This is going to be a long day..." Jack thought to himself a second later, knowing how much road he had ahead of him as he entered the road after driving out of the motel's parking lot and started to drive along the road towards his destination.
If only he knew how right he was...
-----
About two hours have passed since Jack left his motel he had stayed at for the night before and the blond haired young man didn't took any breaks from driving ever since that happened as he didn't really had any need for it. At least he didn't have any need for it until now, though. The blond haired young man checked the level of fuel in his car a few minutes ago and saw his car was slowly running out for him, making him realize he had to visit the nearby gas station and refill his car.
Fortunately, he didn't have to look for a gas station for long because one happened to be a few minutes away from the area he had driven into a moment earlier. He smiled a bit after finding out about it, knowing chosing he couldn't have chosen the perfect time to check the fuel in his car. If he had done this in any other moment, then looking for a gas station would have probably taken him some time. Perharps Mother Luck had smiled down upon him today.
He arrived at the gas station a few minutes later and parked his car in front of the nearest fuel distributor, before turning off the engine and getting himself out his vehicle. Just as he started to fill the car up with the fuel, he glanced to the side and saw a truck driving into the gas station. The owner of the said vehicle probably came here for the same reason as him. The blond haired young man shrugged it off, knowing it wasn't really his business.
Jack shifted his attention away from the truck, keeping his eyes on the fuel count to make sure he won't overfill his car as he found himself thinking about the radio transmission. Over the course of the last two hours, he flipped through the news stations and all of them were talking about the same thing. All of them continued to talk about the Living Dead Syndrome. Jack had to admit. It was starting to make him worried. Even though he had written it off as nothing too severe. After all, there must have been a good reason why all of them were talking about it.
The matter of riots was brought up in the radio transmission as well. According to them, many of the larger cities or even the smaller cities became literal warzones as people were fighting each other and doing every other stuff you'd expect from from a riot. Needless to say. All of this left Jack more worried and nervous as he didn't want to find himself caught up in the middle of a riot. It made him decide to try to stay away from the cities and stick to suburbs for now. At least until it will start getting dark and he'll need a place to spend the night in.
He pushed himself out his thoughts a second later as the truck was parked by it's owner not too far from him and he glanced towards it. A man near his late 20's with a light brown hair got out of the truck a second later and slowly made his way to the distributor with an obvious intention of filling his truck with the gasoline. Just as he was about to start filling his truck with the gas, he stopped himself in his actions as he something or rather someone caught his attention.
The said someone was a man and the said man looked far from good to say the least. His skin was extremely pale, making him look almost like a corpse and his clothes were all filthy. The way he was moving around was unnatural as well as he was more stumbling forward than walking, making him appear like he was under influence of something. The trucker's eyes widened a bit at the view of this man, having found himself taken aback by his appearance. Jack had taken a glance at this man as well, finding himself equally as suprised by his appearance.
"What's wrong with him?" The blond haired man asked himself internally, having just finished filling up his car with the gasoline. If he was honest with himself, the odd stranger looked like he had some kind of Halloween mask or makeup on himself right now. A natural person, even if they were a drug addict, wouldn't look like this.
"C'mon man! You scared me!" He told the man who growled in response with a mixture of annoyance and suprise on his face and it confused him to say the least. Not wanting to deal with this as he had his job to do, he glanced towards the building where the owner of the gas station was minding his own business and called out for him, "Hey man! You got an idiot out here, walking around, dressed like a fucking corpse!"
The owner poked his head out of the window, looking in the direction of the voice and spotted a strange man which was walking towards the trucker, "Oh for god's sake! I didn't have any idea about it!" He shifted his attention to the odd looking man, "Hey! You! Get out of here before I call the police!"
The strange man, homever did not listen to him and continued to move towards the trucker. He looked like nothing else mattered to him right now as he completely ignoed the truckers glare and the owner's shout to him. All that mattered to him right now was reaching the trucker.
The trucker saw the strange man had not stopped himself in his advnce and sighed in frustation, "You could really fucking scare somebody walking around in a costume like that. Knock it off, asshole."
"He's right, you know." Jack spoke up, voicing his agreement wth the trucker as he kept his eyes set on the strange man. He stepped a bit closer to him, wanting to make sure he will hear everything he had to say to him, "You're not making anyone laugh with your behavior or by walking around dressed like this. Just let people mind their own business."
The trucker shifted his attention from the odd stranger, glancing at Jack for a second, before shifting his gaze back to him while pointing at Jack, "See? Everyone here agress with me. Just knock it off and leave. Now."
"Wait here, you two!" The owner told both Jack and the trucker, getting himself off his seat and walked away from the window, "I'll get my bat."
"You heard the man." The trucker gestured towards where the owner was visible just a second earlier as the odd man let out a grunted, now standing in front of him, "Take the damn mask off before you'll end in a cell with your face beaten up."
His words fell on the deaf ears, though as the odd man didn't think about listening to him. It was when the odd man made his next move as he growled and lunged towards the trucker with his rotting teeth out in full display. The trucker's eyes widened a bit as Jack quickly grabbed him by the back of his clothes, dragging him away from the odd man and saving him from whatever the odd man was planning to do to him.
"Holy shit! Fuck!" The trucker said with his eyes widened in suprise, now standing in a good distance because of Jack's help.
Jack looked at him questioningly, "You okay?"
The trucker looked over his shoulder at him while pointing towards the odd looking man, "How does it look like? That sick fuck tried to bit me!"
Jack shook his head at the situation he found himself in and glanced at the odd looking man who acted as if nothing had just happened and pushed himself into walk towards him and the trucker, "Alright, pal. I think you've gone too far now. Can you leave everyone alone now?"
"I don't think he will listen to anything you will say here. I have something to make him listen. Just..." The trucker said, beginning to check his pockets for something only to realize he didn't have what he was looking for in them. He cursed himself mentally for not having it, letting out a frustated sigh, "Fuck! I left it in the truck!"
"That's it!" It was when the owner's voice rang throughout the area as Jack and the trucker looked in the direction of it and saw the owner of the gas station rushing out of the place with a a baseball bat in his hands. He charged at the man and reached him a second later, making him his attention towards him. The odd man didn't got a chance to try anything, though as the owner swung his baseball bat at him and hit him a few times with it until he collapsed on the ground.
Jack shook his head at the scene in front of him, "Shit. That was close."
"You're telling me." The trucker agreed with him as he shifted his gaze to the owner of the gas station and looked at him with a grateful look on his face, "Thanks, man. You better call the police on this dude."
"That's what I'm planning to do." The owner nodded at him and looked between him and Jack questioningly, "What about you two? Are you alright?"
Jack nodded back at him, "Don't worry. I'm okay."
"Me too." The trucker gave his reply a second later as he gestured towards Jack with an almost grateful look on his face, "He tried to bit me, but this fella over here dragged me away in the last moment."
The owner sighed in relief, "That's good. You should stay and wait for the police."
The trucker shook his head, "I wish I could but I have to deliver my stock or my boss gonna have my ass."
"I need to get going as well." Jack added, "I have a long road ahead of me and I want to get this over with as quickly as possible."
''Okay, fair enough." The owner said in understanding. He aftewards shifted his gaze between Jack and the trucker with a smile on his face, "I tell you what, no charge for the fuel."
Jack smiled at the generous offer, "Really? Thanks."
"Yeah. Thank you, pal." The trucker smiled at the trucker as well as he looked over his shoulder at his truck and pointed at it, "Alright. I should get going."
Jack nodded in agreement, pointing at his own vehicle, "Yeah. Me too."
"Alright. Just make it quick. I'll be calling cops in a moment." The owner said in understanding, pulling out his phone as he turned away from Jack and the trucker and pushed himself into walk in order to distance himself from them before calling the cops. Jack turned towards his car a second later and made his way back to it, wanting to get himself inside it and put this situation behind him by driving away from this place.
"Hey, kid. Where are going?" The trucker called out to the blond haired young man just as he was about to climb into his car.
Jack looked in the direction of the truck and saw the trucker standing next to his truck with a questioning look on his face. He gave him his answer a second later, "I'm planning to drive through Macon today. Even if I'll probably will try to keep myself away from the main part of it due to the stuff I've been hearing about on the radio."
"Macon?" The trucker shook his head at the name, "Shit."
Jack raised his brow questioningly, "What is it?"
"Nothing. It will be in the opposite direction to where I am going." The trucker explained, "If we were driving in the same direction, then I could reward you for saving my ass with a drink or something."
Jack nodded in understanding, "I see. A shame we'll leaving in the other directions, then."
"Yeah." The trucker nodded in agreement, "The name is Troy. What's your name, kid?"
"Jack Weaver." Jack gave his answer to him introducing himself to him.
"Jack Weaver. I'll make sure to keep your name in mind." The trucker now named Troy said in understanding and smiled at him slightly, "If we'll ever see each other again, drinks are on me."
"I'll keep that in mind." Jack smiled back at him. In the times like this, he was glad he was 21. At least he could now always say yes and show interest in the offers like this. He got himself into his car a second later, exchanging one final glance with Troy before doing so and left the gas station. Troy left the gas station a second later, both of them heading in their own directions.
The owner nodded to himself after seeing Jack and Troy leave his gas station, knowing it was now time for him to call 911. He dialed the said number a second later and his call was answered a few seconds later. Not wasting any time, he quickly began to report what just happened to the operator, "...Hello 911, I'd like to report an assault."
Unfortunately, when the owner started reporting the crime to the 911 operator, the odd man got up from the ground and started walking towards him...
-----
Jack shook his head to himself, letting out a sigh as he had just stumbled a new incovience in his journey in the form of a blockade of cars in front of him. He had driven into this neighbourhood a few moments ago and was greeted by this sight after driving for a few minutes. The blockade didn't seem like it made intentionally stop him or to stop wheoever else would be driving through this neighbourhood, though as all of the cars looked like they were abandoned by their owners in a hurry.
About an hour had passed since the incident at the gas station and Jack couldn't help but find himself thinking back about it every few minutes. Even if he tried to make himself stop thinking about it and focus on the road instead, he just couldn't help but find himself thinking back to him every now and then. What happened back there was just so strange. Even ifi the man at the gas station was under the influence of something.
He thought about the way the said man had looked like as well. He had written off his appearance as him wearing a mask at first but he wasn't so sure about it right now. Looking back at it right now and thinking back about it, he had realized his face looked a bit too real to be a mask. Even if it was a make up, someone extremely skilled must have done this to make it look so real. Having grown up with two older sisters who liked to play dressing with him when he was younger, he knew what he was saying...
The blond haired young man looked around himself, wondering if he'll manage to find a way drive around the blockade or if he'll have to turn around and take a different turn in his approach of Macon. He once again shook his head to himself a second later, seeing he had no option but to turn around as find a different way as he saw no way around the blockade. Even if there was a way around it, it was so small that he was unable to see it.
Just as he was about to turn back and find a new way of driving further towards his destination, he stopped himself as someone caught his attention as it was when a woman walked or rather stumbled into the streets. Jack had no idea where she had come up, having not seen her a moment earlier. She must have come out of one of he houses when he was focused on looking for a way of driving past the blockade.
Upon setting his eyes on the unknown woman, Jack knew he had to approach her and try to see if she knew what was going on in this neighbourhood and if she knew why so many vehicles had been abandoned in it as he had failed to notice the way she was moving right now. He got himself out his car, leaving the engine turned on and closed the door as he pushed himself into walk towards her. He didn't have to walk for long as he managed to get close to her a few seconds later.
"Miss. Can you help me a..." He never got a chance to finish his request to her. His words died in his throat as soon as she turned around to face him and Jack got a perfectly good view of her appearance. The way how she looked like reminded her of the man from the gas station. The pale skin. The filthy clothes. She even smelled in a similiar way.
He took one step backwards, having found himself taken aback by her appearance and rose his hands a bit almost as if he wanted to appear defensive in front of her and to show her he had no ill intentions otwards her. He didn't know why he did it. He was probably driven by his instict in this moment. What happened earlier at the gas station must have played a part in it as well.
The blond haired young man opened his mouth, trying to say something to her again but the unknown woman was not interested in wha the had to say. Not giving hi a chance to say anything, she growled and lunged herself at him. Jack's eyes widened a bit as he reacted instantly and placed his hands on the woman's shoulders, trying to keep her away from him as the woman let out another growl.
"Shit! What are you doing? Stop!" He shouted to the unknown woman, doing his best to keep her away from him. His words fell on the deaf ears, though as the unknown woman didn't listen to him, though and instead focused herself on getting to him and doing whatever she wanted to him. Finding her pushing against him, Jack pushed herself backwards with as much force as he could in the moment in order to get himself in a safe distance from her.
The unknown woman growled again, finding herself about a meter or two away from him as she advanced towards Jack again. Jack wasted no time and turned away from her as he wanted to hide himself away in his car as he knew she won't do anything to him there. He shook his head at what was happening right now as well as the behavior of this woman had reminded him of the man from the gas station. Her behavior and her looks. Everything about her was the same as it was about him.
The blond haired young man reached the door to the front seat a second later, intending to open it as he grabbed it. The unknown man had reached him before he could open it and get inside, though. The unknown woman lunged herself at him again, pinning him against the side of his car as Jack placed his hands on her shoulders and tried to push her away from him like he did earlier. This time, however, it was much harder for him due to the woman pinning him against his car.
"What's wrong with you? Stop!" He shouted, holding her by her forehead as he tried to push her off of him and away from him. The unknown woman continued to ignore about he had asked her, caring about only one thing right now as she had gained the upper hand in her fight with him. She leaned closer towards him, opening and closing her mouth constantly as she was more than ready to bite Jack in the neck.
She didn't manage to get what she wanted, though as someone had came in Jack's rescue just as she was about about to sink her teeth in his neck. The unknown person grabbed her from behind, pulling her away from Jack and threw her into the ground before pinning her against it with their boot. Jack quickly shifted his attention from her, feeling a wave of relief go through his body at being rescued from this woman and whatever she was planning to do with him and saw a man in his 20's.
The said man had a dark skin and wore a police uniform, making Jack even more relieved as this man was an actual police officer. The unknown police officer focused himself on this woman, keeping her pinned down against the ground with his boot as he pulled out his pistol and aimed it directly at her head. What happened next shocked Jack as the police officer had shoot her directly in the head, killing her instantly.
The unknown police officer looked up from the now deceased woman at Jack with a questioning look on his face, "You alright?"
Jack stepped away from the scene in front of him with a shocked look on his face, "W-What?"
"Listen. I know this must be shocking to you." The unknown police officer began to say.
Jack nodded in confirmation, "Y-Yeah. Did you really have to kill her? You kept her pinned down. She could have calmed..."
The unknown police officer shook his head, letting out a sigh at the lack of knowledge Jack had regarding people like the woman she had just killed, "Trust me. I wish I didn't have to kill her. I really do. I had no other choice, though. She wouldn't have calmed down."
Jack raised his brow at him, still shaken by what just happened, "What do you mean?"
The unknown police officer wasted no time and explained everything to him, "She isn't the first person I stumbled upon in a state like this. I got attacked by a few of those since I left for my patrol this morning and had to kill a few of them. Saw what they can do as well as I saw one of them ripping a person apart. This stuff is happening all over the place. Don't even get me started on what's happening in the town right now. I thought people were going to rip me apart there..."
"I see." Jack said in understanding, letting out a deep breath to calm himself down more. If a police officer told him he had no other choice but to kill this woman, he knew had to believe him. His words about one of the people like her ripping out someon apart made him realize what would have happen to him if it wasn't for him as well. It didn't make anything any easier for him, though. He glanced at the deceased woman, letting out a sigh, "She isn't the first person like that I stumbled upon."
The unknown police officer raised his brow, "What do you mean?"
Jack pointed backwards, "I stumbled upon someone like her at the gas station about an hour away from here. A man almost bit someone in front of me there."
The unknown police officer nodded in understanding, "I see. What about you, though? Were you bitten by her?"
"No. You came in the right time." Jack shook his head, "Why are you asking? Something happens to the people who were bitten by one of those sick people?"
"They die." The unknown police officer decided to go straight to the point with his explanation as Jack's eyes widened at this information, "I've seen it happen when I was in the town. You get bit, if you don't bleed out, you get a fever, you start coughing and you eventually die. I don't know for how long it takes, but I do know you come back as one of those things."
"I-I see..." Jack nodded in understanding, making a mental note out of it as he was glad he had dragged Troy away from the man at the gas station. If he didn't do it, then Troy probably would be dealing with the effects of the bite before inevitably succumbing to it, "...Thanks for saving me, by the way. Didn't got a chance to say it to you."
The unknown police officer nodded at him with a smile on his face, "No problem. Just doing my job."
"What's your name?" Jack wanted to know.
The unknown man responded, holding his free hand out for a handshake, "I'm Andre. Andre Mitchell."
"Jack." Jack introduced himself to him as he grabbed his hand into his and shook it, "Jack Weaver."
Andre nodded in understanding, making a mental note out of the name as he glanced at Jack's car, "What are you doing around here, Jack?"
Jack wasted no time and explained everything to him, "I was trying to drive through the neighbourhood, but then I this blockade appeared and I had to stop. Was about to turn back and find some other way, but then I saw this woman. You know the rest."
"Alright." Andre said in understanding as he shifted his gaze from Jack to the blockade in front of him, "Listen. This blockade over here is a bit my fault."
Jack raised his brow, "What do you mean?"
"I'm with two friends of mine here. Shawn and Chet." Andre began to explain, "Just like you we wanted to get through the neighbourhood with our cars and had to move the cars a bit, resulting in the blockade you're seeing right now."
Jack nodded in understanding, "I see."
"How about I'll help you as a way of blocking you here? Shawn and Chet are not too far from us with their truck and my cruiser. If we move the cars in a way which will allow you to drive through the neighbourhood, you could join us. All of us were heading towards Shawn's family farm." Andre suggested, smilling a bit at Jack. Jack didn't answer to Andre's offer straight away, wanting to think about it at first before making his decision. The thought of staying at the farm today and having someone else with him was a rather preferable thought to him.
"Alright. Let..." Jack began to voice his answer. He didn't got a chance to finish what he was saying, though as the familiar growling sounded behind him and Andre. He and Andre looked in the direction off it and saw not one but at least a dozen if not more pale people walking towards him. He shook his head in panic at the view of them.
"Shit. They're everywhere!" Andre shook his head, knowing this group would be too much for him to handle as he glanced at Jack, "Come on! We need to get to Shawn and Chet!"
"What about..." Jack began, pointing towards his car.
"You'll have to leave it. Trust me! It's still better than dealing with those things!" Andre explained as he turned away from Jack and pushed himself into run in the direction where his friends were waiting for him.
Jack let out a deep exhale, knowing Andre was right and pushed himself into walk to follow him, leaving his car behind in the process. He looked over his shoulder as he followed Andre towards his friends, seeing his car slowly getting surrounded by those people before turning to look ahead of himself again. The blond haired young man shook his head to himself, hating the fact that he had to leave his car behind as it was a birthday gift to him but his safety away from those sick people, whatever they were, mattered more to him.
"...Shawn! Chet!" Andre yelled out a moment later, having just reached his destination with Jack as Jack looked ahead of him and saw four people standing in front of him and Andre. The said people were a young man with a black hair, a chubby fellow, a dark skinned man with a beard and a wounded leg and a little girl with a hat on her head. The group of four stood close to a pickup truck and a police cruiser.
The young man with a black hair turned towards Andre with an alarmed look on his face, "Andre? What happened? We heard a gunshot..."
"Who is that?" The chubby man asked, pointing towards Jack as he had noticed him standing close to Andre.
"Jack. I met him a moment ago while I was taking a look around the neighbourhood." Andre explained, pointing behind them as he didn't even pay attention to the dark skinned man and a little girl due to him knowing they need to focus on getting out of here. The questions could wait, after all, "Shawn. We need to go. Those things are coming. There's more of them than I can handle."
Shawn's eyes widened at this, "Shit, really?"
The chubby fellow who must have been named Chet looked behind Andre and Jack and felt his eyes widen as he saw those people walking towards them. Needless to say. He instantly got nervous by the sight of them, "He's right! Them monsters comin'! We gotta go!"
Shawn instantly reacted to this and began pushing the car, "Lee, quick! Let's go!"
The black skinned man who was apparently named Lee nodded quickly made his way to back of the car, beginning to help Shawn in pushing it. Jack and Andre joined them a second later and the little girl wasted no time and joined them as well, helping both of them. Their combined effort paid off in the end as the car was pushed out of the way, giving them as much space they needed to leave the neighbourhood in Shawnand Chet's truck and Andre's cruiser.
"Let's go!" Shawn shouted once the car was out of the way. The group of six wasted no time and moved towards Shawn and Chet's truck and Andre's cruiser. Chet jumped in the truckbed as Shawn got into the driver's seat of the truck.
"Get in!" Lee told the little girl as the said girl nodded at him. Both of them got themselves into the truck a second later.
"Jack! You're with me!" Andre shouted, getting a nod out of Jack as he got himself into his police cruiser. Jack wasted no time and climbed himself into the cruiser, taking his seat at the front next to Andre as Andre started up his car. The blond haired young man looked behind him, seeing everyone everyone behind him getting closer to them and shook his head at how close they were to them right now.
