||<No One's POV>||

When the next morning came.  It went by fast. Most teams didn't waste time on preparing and using their time wisely since the next day is where hell begins and they must be prepared for it.

If not, then they'll be a easy target to most teams.  Progress has been made, but not enough compared to District 10.  

During training, Eren has overheard a guy named Armin who's from District 8 along with his partner Hanji, discussing to the other teams about taking out District 10 first.  Since they are the biggest threat. Many of them agreed.

Eren was about to say something, but he kept on walking, not even wanting to get involved.  He met up with Annie and practiced some moves with her. Some techniques he's been taught and some that she's been taught.  Both techniques will be useful at the arena if the opponent is at close range.

There was no doubt that they have been getting close.  But they both refuse to admit it to each other.

“That's enough for today!  Return to your rooms!” a man shouted.  Eren and Annie walked side by side to their room.  As well as other teams.

Soon the sun finally went down and many believed, at that moment, it will be their last time seeing the sunset, or even alive.

Some team members cried themself to sleep, others prayed, others wrote a goodbye letter to their loved ones, saying they won't be sure they'll be ever returning home.  

Eren sat at the edge of the bed, his mind kept wondering many thoughts at the same time.  Thinking about strategies, food, weapons, shelter, etc. However, the worst of all, imagining Annie's death.

He suddenly felt a headache after imagining that horrible event he hopes never to happen.  He looked up at Annie, who was already asleep in bed.

He stood up and quietly walked towards her.  She looked so...beautiful, he does admit that.

His hand touched her hair softly and removed pieces of her hair that was covering her stunning face.  He smiled sweetly.

She may look like a person who doesn't care in the eyes of others, but in his eyes, he sees the complete opposite.  

A small groan escaped her lips, making him startle.  He decided to move away and let her sleep well, since it will be the last time they'll ever be sleeping on the bed. Tomorrow, sleeping won't be a good choice. Not when many teams are out with weapons on their hands, ready to take you out.

As he walked away, he felt his throat dry and needed some water.  He decided to walk out the room and finds some water.

He was walking through an empty hallway.  No one was around since it was late. He expected to see no one in sight, as he entered a small lunch room, he saw her.  The girl from District 10.

His eyes slightly widen.  She looked up at him. Both their eyes met and silence took over the small room.

Mikasa somehow saw herself in Eren.  He reminded her of herself when she first entered the arena, scared and afraid.  Until, he showed her the way. He is the reason why she kept going, and now he is hers.

She knew both of them had very similar beginnings.  That soon later changed as someone special helped them put all the fear aside, and focus.

“Um...Hey” Eren greeted, breaking the silence between them.  “Hey” she replied.

“What are you doing here?”

“Just needed a place to think”

He scoffed and continued his tracks on getting water.  “Here” she tossed him a water bottle. He caught it and stared at the bottle blankly.

“You came for water right?  There you go”

“Yeah...how did you- nevermind...thanks” he thanked and started to drink it.  “You're that guy from District 9 right?” She questioned, “Eren Jaeger, right?”

“Yeah, how'd you know?”

“I saw your interview”

He chuckled.  “Pretty impressive” she commented.  He blushed lightly, “Yeah?...Well, I mean what I say”

She chuckles lightly, “I see”

She stood up, “I mean I can't blame you.  Everyone wants to win. Even me”

Well, we've heard you've won 4 games in a row.   Not sure why you're still here. Eren thought.

“Just for some people's entertainment.  Well….what can we do? We're weak and they have more power.  Probably more than all district's combined”

“You think that too?”

“How could I not?  It's pretty obvious.  I would be pretty stupid if I didn't”

Eren chuckled over her response.  He actually found someone who thinks the same as him.

His eyes later landed on a diamond ring that was wrapped perfectly around her finger.  He stared at it, making sure he's seeing correctly and not just his bad vision.

“You're…You're married?” He asked suddenly.

She looked down at her precious ring which caused her to smile as soon as she looked at it.  It reminded her of the day he proposed to her, including the amazing memories she had with him.

“Yes, my husband gave it to me....It means everything to me.  I can't bear to lose it”

“Oh” Eren may suspected Mikasa being a strong woman, but he never really thought of her married.  He was surprised hearing her already married. Now he wonders who's her husband.

“Not to be rude, but...how old are you?  You seem too young to be married” He asked curiously.  

“I'm 23”

“Wow....you're my age and already married”

She chuckles lightly, “I didn't even know someone like me would get married.  I guess he thought the same thing. Years later, I'm glad he's the one for me”

Together or not at all  Levi's soft voice echoed in her head.  Eren looked at her as she was in her thoughts.

Eren cleared his throat, “So...who's your....um...who's your husband?” He asked, feeling awkward as he took a sip of his water.  “Levi” she answers.

His eyes widen and spit out his water after hearing her partners name.  “Levi?! Like your partner? Or is it another Levi?” He asked.

“My partner for these games”

That dude is her husband?! He thought to himself.  He was surprised once again, but this time it took him by surprised.  “Wow…” was the only word he could say.

“What about you?  Are you in a relationship or married?”

“None…..I think that's the least of my problems.  Right now I gotta focus on this” Eren said referring to the games.  Eren didn't think much of relationships, but he's been having some odd feelings when he's around Annie.  

But, at this time, it would be stupid idea to create a romantic relationship with someone since the next day there's a high chance on both of you getting killed.  No one is safe, no one can protect you, no one can save you, no one can help you, nothing.

The possibilities of both of you surviving is very low.  Not when District 10 is still breathing.

“Oh” Mikasa looked at the time, it was 11:24 p.m.  She thought Levi could probably wake up and notice her not beside him. “Well, I have to go.  Nice talking to you…….and good luck on the games…” She told him, having a bit of concern.

She did enjoy talking to him, but she felt sad that she has to kill him tomorrow.  Although she told herself to not make friends during the games, but she's completely forgotten about it.  She'll probably have some hesitation towards him. Mikasa felt like she made a new friend, but at the wrong time.

Eren frowned as he thought the same thing.  Mikasa is not what most people say of her. Sorta reminded him of Annie.  People say that and this about her, right now he would disagree with all those people.

Eren saluted to Mikasa, showing her that he has deep respect for her.  Mikasa felt that now it would be way more harder for her to kill Eren. Mikasa smiled and saluted back, showing him that she respects him too.  

“Good luck, Mikasa” he said.

“You too, Eren” she said and left.

The Next Day……

Everyone was suiting up and getting ready I'm the next 5 minutes.  “Please be ready in the next 5 minutes” a man informed to the participating teams.

Eren couldn't find his key necklace and was looking everywhere for it. His father gave it to him when he was a little boy. “Here” Annie tossed him his necklace.  “Thanks” and put it on.

After both of them were done dressing up, they looked at each other.  
“Are you ready?” She asked him.

“Yeah”

Annie sighed and ran her fingers through her hair, “I can't believe this is happening to me” she said as one tear fell from her eye.

Eren's never seen her cry, it felt new to him seeing her like that.  It made him feel bad.

“Hey don't worry.  Everything will be alright.  I promise” Eren told her, trying to keep her from crying.

Annie was tough in the beginning, but right now, she's not so tough after all. “We don't know what's gonna happen? This is scary, Eren. We're gonna di-” he cut her off by wrapping his arms around her. Annie gasped as she felt his warmness surround her.

She calmed down.  “Ssshhh, I won't let anything hurt you, okay?…” he told her and continued, “I promise I won't let anything happen to you….trust me”

Annie hugged him back, “Thank you”

“Alright everyone out now!!” they heard a voice shout.  Eren released her and wiped away her tears with his thumb.  “We will win” he sticked out his pinky for a pinky promise.

Annie chuckled, “You know that's childish, right?” She teased him, feeling a lot better thanks to his comfort.  He laughed, “Who cares” he was waiting, Annie giggled and pinky promised him by finally connecting her pinky with his.

Two loud bangs were heard on the door, “Hurry up now!”

Both of them sighed and walked towards the door.  Eren turned his head, “We got this” Annie smiled and nodded.

Shortly after they left their room and were guided to a glass tube that would take them up to the arena, where blood stains are very familiar.

Eren and Annie were placed on separate tubes.  They looked at each other one last time before the tubes started to going up.

Finally, the tube stopped rising and finally in the arena.  People were standing on a circle that surrounded the center of the arena where weapons and food could be seen.

The arena looked like a normal place, there were trees, rivers, jungles, etc. But, it wasn't. The arena was built by the creators which meant that they could make the weather change, like rain, thunder, snow, etc.

But if that doesn't please them, then they have the buttons to change it, they can make the ground move or shake in a violent way, causing the trees to fall down.  

They can even spawn animals if that doesn't do much.  Animals that are deadly and their only target is humans.  

Eren looked at the blue sky above him.  He wonders how could they create something that looks so real? Now, he believes never trust what you see.

He noticed each team member on a circle individually.  His eyes later found a familiar person, Mikasa. Along with her husband.  He gazed up at her.

It didn't take long for him to snap out of it as sudden loud voice started to count down.

Everything turned slow motion for a moment.  Eren couldn't believe that it's actually about to go down.

“5”

Eren glanced at Annie, she was already in a running position, ready to get a weapon for herself and Eren. That included everyone else.

“4”

“3”

Eren closed his eyes, I have to fight to win. I have to.  Protect Annie and win this game.  So I'll fight!!

“2”

He opened his eyes, now he had fire in his eyes.  I'll fight! And fight!!

“1”

Fight!!

You know why that took so long?  Well, somehow I had everything ready and suddenly it was gone the next time I checked.  Wtf wattpad?!  I was so mad that I was done with wattpad, but I finally calmed down and did it again.  So, sorry if I took long and the errors.
