Chapter Two; Coffee

3rd person

     Barry Allen and his best friend Cisco Ramon made their way into Jitters, continuing a conversation about Star Wars.
     It had been nearing closing time so the cafe was almost empty. And lights were dimming and some of the chairs were already stacked.
     "Hey guys" Iris greeted the two.
     "Hello, Iris" Cisco greeted. "The usual"
     "That'll be 2.10 than" She says. Tapping it into the register.
     "The usual for both of us" Barry says. Knowing the 2 coffees were not that low in price.
     "I know, yours was paid for this morning" Iris replied, taking out the paper Lilli had given earlier that morning. "The girl that you bumped into, very sweet. She paid for it"
     "Ohh, someone likes you" Cisco teased as Iris handed the paper to Barry. Barry scanned it.
     "Lilli" the name seemed to roll off his tongue, he read the PS and chuckled a bit. "Thanks"
     "Be sure to thank her to. She seemed so polite and kind" Iris says, "I'll change and come sit with you guys"
     Cisco and Barry grabbed their coffee and sat near the window, talking about Radom stuff such as the new episode of Big Bang Theory, and some stuff about The Streak.
     "Dr. Wells wants to have you train more tomorrow, but—" The long haired nerd was cut off by Iris joining them.
     "Train for what?" The girl asks, taking a sip of Barry's coffee, but quickly regretting it. "Eh, to plain" she wipes her mouth and hands the cup back to Barry.
     "Train for a side job" Barry quickly caught himself.
     "Side job?" Iris asks, "Your still working at the station though, right?"
     "That's why they call it a side job" Barry says, smiling a bit before he and Cisco took a sip of their coffees in sync.
     "What well you be doing?" The brunette asks.
     "Sciency stuff" Barry says. Knowing Iris won't ask about anything science related unless needed to.
     "That's great, Bear" Iris says, "You've always wanted to work there"
     "It's more of a way to keep him close to Caitlin, so she can make sure nothing horrible happens" Cisco says, carrying on the little lie.
     Barry wanted to tell Iris about him being the Streak, but Joe made him promise not to. Especially with all the evil Meta-humans around, they couldn't risk it.
     "Are you going to thank Lilli" Iris asks, snapping Barry out of his thoughts.
     "Maybe" He says, looking down at his cup.
     "You better, Bartholomew. You need more friends" Iris exclaimed, grabbing Cisco's cup and drinking it. "What is it with nerds and plain coffee?"
     "What the heck? Its my coffee" Cisco says, taking the coffee away from Iris who was cringing at the taste of the plain coffee with only 3 sugars.
     "I have friends" Barry defended himself.
     "Like who?" Iris asks, crossing arms on the table and giving Barry a look.
     "Cisco, Caitlin, You, and Eddie" Barry replied. As Barry said Eddies name he almost hated it.
     "Exactly, only a few friends. Adding another won't hurt" Iris says,
     "Yea, Barry, maybe she's cool. Wouldn't kill ya to get a life" Cisco says, sipping his coffee.

     Barry laid in his bed, going over the things two of his best friends had said. He did need friends, but with his secret he was afraid it would hurt them.
     But Barry also knew that Iris would kill him if he didn't at least thank Lilli. He looked at the time, 7:39 pm. It's a little late though.
     He pulled out his phone and the paper that had Lilli's number on it.

Barry;
Hey. This is Barry, the guy you bumped into this morning at CC Jitters. I wanted to thank you for the coffee. Maybe I'll see you around

    He sent the message and put his phone down, he went back to starring at the ceiling. Contemplating if that was the best idea.
     He went over scenarios in his head, the thought of Snart figuring out he even texted this girl could make her a target. Or maybe a meta that could hack or control technology.

Lilli J;
No problem, hope you enjoyed
the coffee 😊

Barry;
I did, but Iris thought it was a little plain

Lilli J;
I'm guessing she's one to have
flavour in her coffee

Barry;
You guess correctly

Lilli J;
I can hardly stand a flavoured
coffee. To me it takes away the
caffeine

Barry;
Right? I tried a French vanilla once
I ended up falling asleep at work

Lilli J;
I tried one of the fruity coffees,
fell asleep during a lecture

Barry;
I don't know how people drink
fruity coffee, it's seems to weird

Lilli J;
Right?? Why put fruit into
something that tastes fine the
way it is

Honestly who thought of
putting Apple into coffee

Barry;
Surprisingly, I have no clue

Lilli J;
Sorry about me ranting,
I'm running on 2 hours of
sleep

Barry;
It's fine, I would be worse. My
rants tend to last days

Only 2 hours? What kept you up?

Lilli J;
Well I was supposed to be
unpacking, but I also have
to get ready for my new job

Barry;
Your new to Central City?

Lilli J;
Kind of

I grew up here, but after I
graduated I moved to Gotham
for school

I got a job offer I couldn't resist
so I came back

Barry;
Must be a pretty good job to leave
Gotham for

Lilli J;
Well I'm a reporter, so jobs
don't come easy

Barry;
A reporter? Nice

Lilli J;
What line of work you in?

Barry;
Forensic assistant. I work at CCPD

Lilli J;
Like CSI? Man I love that
show

Barry;
Yea just like CSI. Except we
don't have the same super cool
cases as them

     Lilli didn't respond. Barry's mind wondered again, maybe she didn't like him, or maybe she fell asleep. He let his phone fall into his chest as he sighed.
     Lilli seemed like a great girl, she didn't mind talking this late at night, and she seemed to like to talk a lot as well.
     He was debating on asking her if she was okay, his debate shut down by his phone buzzin.

Lilli J;
Okay, I know this is gonna weird
considering we just met

But my pile of boxes just fell and
I'm kinda stuck

Barry;
Are okay? Did you get hurt?

Lilli J;
No, no! I'm fine

I'm just kinda trapped in my room.
Could you maybe come over and
help?

If not, it's fine. I know it's late

Barry;
I'll be over as quick as I
can

     Barry jumped up from his bed and sped around his room, changing into a grey t-shirt, blue jeans and his favourite beige jacket. He grabbed his phone and human-jogged downstairs incase Iris was home.
     "Hey, Bear" Barry's foster dad, Joe greets.
     "Hey" Barry replied, Iris walked out of the kitchen, wiping her hands with a cloth.
     "Where are you going?" Iris asks, smirking.
     "Lilli needs some help, she trapped herself in her room" Barry replied, slipping on his shoes.
     "Oh my god, is she okay?" Iris asks, "Let me drive you"
     "Wait, who's Lilli?" Joe asks as his daughter rushes to get her stuff.
     "She's a girl I bumped into this morning, she bought me a coffee after I spilt mine. Iris got her number for me" Barry replied.
     "I could come and help to. I may be an old man, but I'm also a detective" Joe replied.
     "Okay, I'm sure she could use the help" Barry replied.
     "Okay! Let's go" Iris says, running to the door.
     "Wait. I don't even know where she lives"
