Chapter Sixteen; Christmas Traditions

     Me and Iris were sitting in the living room of Joe's house, I was looking at the article I wrote. I had sent it in so I didn't fall behind. The others said it was a good name and article.
     "So, how is yours and Barry's relationship?" Iris asks. Sitting across from me.
     "Great. We haven't really talked since last night. The only times were with you around" I say.
     "Really?" She asks.
     "Yea, he was gonna come over after karaoke. Than something came up and him, Caitlin, and Cisco bolted" I say.
     "Yea, they tend to do that. To rush away the moment one of their phones beep. I don't know why" Iris says.
      "Maybe it's something to do with being hit by lightning" I say.
     "Perhaps" She says. She sits down on the edge of the couch and sighs. "Hey, do you wanna help me with my blog?"
     "Sure" I say. Before I can sit down, my phone buzzes, I pull it out of my back pocket and look at it.

Princess 😇;
Mom, Aunt Margo is trying
to get me to watch Gossip Girl

Momma 👩‍👧;
Tell her you'd rather do
homework than watch GG

That's what I did in
college

Princess 😇;
I did...

She's gonna make me watch
the notebook now.... 🤦‍♀️

Momma 👩‍👧;
I don't know how to escape
the Notebook sweetie

Sorry 😐

Princess 😇;
Gee mom

Great help 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

     I chuckle and out the phone down. "What?" Iris asks.
     "My daughter. My soon to be sister-in-law is forcing her to watch the Notebook" I say, sitting next to her. "Ash hates sappy or drama movies, she loves historic or sci-fi"
     "Oh, than she'll love Barry" Iris smiles.
     "I hope so" I say.
     "When do you think you'll have her again?" She asks with a smile.
"Hopefully by the holidays. She may not like sappy love stories, but she does love our holiday traditions" I say. "We'll decorate our tree and drink hot chocolate, watch a Christmas carol or Home Alone"
"That's nice" Iris says. "You should join us this year as well. We have our own traditions of decorating the tree for a week followed by driving around looking at the displays of Christmas lights"
"That'll be great"

It's been at least 2 hours since we were put under police protection. I was reading a book, Iris was writing her article for tomorrow.
I heard a big crash, both me and Iris jolted up. "What the hell was that?" She asked, walking towards the window. Peaking out I could just see the police cruiser outside was upside down.
Oh no....
