CHAPTER 3

Harry Styles

It was Friday, which meant it was my turn to pick my siblings up from school then spend the day with them until they needed to be home. Most of the time, this was do-able, in other times, not so much. I always tried my best to keep in touch with them and give them my attention as much as it was possible.

In a way, Olivia and Mason were the only sanity I had. My parents were batshit crazy, my company was overwhelming at times and my friends were absolute twats. Having my siblings and spending time with them at least once a week for a few hours was almost necessary for me in order to keep my head in place.

My first stop was at Mason's college. He was sixteen and in his first year of doing A-Levels which he didn't seem to find hard from what he had told me. He had taken business as one of his subjects, much like I did, so with that and me having my own company, he always came to me for help. I liked that a lot, the fact that I could give him first hand experience and help with whatever he needed or was interested in gave me a weird feeling of satisfaction.

"Oi oii," he shouted as he opened up the passenger seat door of my car. This one, he liked a lot. He was only just now beginning to get into driving and so he made me promise I would let him drive my Mercedes.

"Hey, mate," I put hand out for him and he slapped his in it. He shoved his bag in the backseat and did his seatbelt. "How was college?"

"Eh, alright," he shrugged. Whilst the basic chatter filled up my car, I pulled out of the parking lot and with a much greater speed than was allowed, we flew out of the street of his school. "Bloody starving, though."

"Where do you wanna go?" I asked curiously. It was always their choice where we went. I liked giving them that opportunity because our parents were strict and we were told each time what to do and what not to do. We never had many options.

"Nando's?"

"Boringgg," he always said Nando's. If he could have lived in that restaurant, he probably would have actually done it. "We shall let Olivia pick."

"She's gonna say McDonald's so which one's better?" he laughed and I did the same. He had a point. Our eight-year-old little sister didn't really know many other places. "Which I would be fine with, too. You, not so much."

"What is that supposed to mean?"

"You have a reputation to keep up with, don't you?" he teased. "What would that fit CEO think of you if she'd seen you in a fast-food place like that, huh?"

"First of all, you are right. I do have a reputation to maintain. Second of all, who is this fit CEO you're chatting about?"

"You very well know who I am on about, H," so maybe I did know. But she wasn't really that important in my eyes to make sure she didn't think a certain way of me. I couldn't have cared less what her opinion was on me.

"I'm not sure if I do."

"Please. She is hot. You know it," he kept the conversation going. The fact that he spoke that way about a woman made me want to slap him on the neck. As we stopped at a red light, I looked at him with questioning eyes and he sighed. "What?"

"Watch how you talk about women, lad," my feet pressed down on the pedal as the lights turned green again. "Kensington is nothing but a competitor. I could never be with someone like her."

"Why?" he asked right away. "She's pretty, successful, based on her interviews she's funny... she's everything a man could want."

"Are you trying to get me to set you up with her or something?" I snorted. "She's eleven years older than you are, back down."

"Wait. She's twenty-seven?" he gasped. "I thought she was your age."

"She's my age. She's only three years older than I am."

"You never had a girlfriend older than you. Maybe it's time," he suggested. My eyebrows furrowed as I glanced over to him. He grinned like he had won the lottery or something and it felt like this conversation was terribly important to him.

"Alright. Let's drop this topic. I don't want to talk about my competitor."

"Bummer," he mumbled. "Uh, remember that boy who I was talking to for like... three months?"

"Yeah... I think. Jake, was it?" he hummed. "Yeah. What about him? Did he ask you out already or is he still pissing around?"

"Oh, I wish," Mason commented bitterly. I rested my right hand against the window as my left hand stayed on the steering wheel. The road ahead of us was fairly empty which was nice because I could keep my speed up. My sister was bound to finish in ten minutes. "He told me he was not interested anymore. He found someone else, apparently."

"Fuck him," I said right away. My relationship advice was not always the best but it was honest at least. "If he's not going to make time for you and dedicate himself to you then he can do one. You'll find someone better."

"I guess... well, I actually had been talking to this girl, too. I wasn't that dedicated to him or to her, you know. I just tested the waters... wanted to see who wanted me more, you know. Neither of them said they wanted a relationship so like I thought it was cool to keep them both on board."

"Wait, do they know about each other?"

"Should they?" he questioned curiously.

"Mason."

"What?!" he shrieked. "It's not like I was in a committed relationship with one and used the other to cheat. We were just talking," he explained. "I didn't see anything wrong with it. Jake even told me that he was still swiping on people on Grindr and stuff. That's how he found his new partner or whatever, I don't know."

"Shit, teenagers these days..."

"You are one to talk," he fired back. So, maybe I did have flings. But I knew better than to keep two going at the same time. I had three at some point. "Anyway. You're getting Liv, I'm not getting out of the car."

"Didn't expect your high and mighty arse to do so, anyway," I rolled my eyes playfully at him as I stopped the car once it was in the parking lot.

As I stepped out of the warm vehicle, the cool wind slapped me right in the face and blew my hair everywhere. I grabbed my coat and pulled it together then crossed my arms as I walked towards the entrance of the primary school. There were a shit ton of parents already so I had to push my way through them to get to the designated area from where I could get my sister. Through my actions, I did feel eyes follow my every move but I didn't care for them that much. I could never get used to it fully but it was not something I never experienced.

She was in Year 3 of primary which honestly broke my heart. She was growing up way too fast. Her school uniform was a blue dress with white squares all over it, her hair was braided with two bows at the bottom that kept it together. When she finally spotted me, she waved my way and I did the same to her, the massive grin on her face with her rosy cheeks caused by the wind made me excited to finally hug her.

I haven't seen her in almost two weeks. I took Mason out for lunch, however, because he had a massive gap between his classes and I was too frustrated to stay at work.

"Hal!" she shouted as she ran towards me. Instantly, I leaned down and opened my arms for her to run into. She called me by the nickname that was only allowed for her. No one ever called me Hal.

"Livvy, hey," I giggled as I lifted her up with all her stuff. Her bag was in the way a little but it didn't matter that much. She wiggled in my arms so I put her down then she hugged me again. "Alright, should we get going?"

"Yes!" she exclaimed. "Will you bring my bag?"

"Sure," I beamed at her and grabbed it from her hands. "How was school, kiddo? Did you have a good week?"

"It was fine. I have maths homework because we are learning the eights right now. I'm good at the eights, but my friends are kinda silly and they always mess it up," she chuckled as she told me the news.

"That's very good. I'm proud of you," I placed my hand on top of her head and with that, I also stopped her from stepping down the curb. "Watch out, sis," I told her as the white car drove past.

"I'm hungry, can we get something yummy?" she looked up at me as we walked over to my car.

"What would you like?" once I opened the door, I picked her up and placed her in the car. She got rid of her coat almost right away and then let me do her seatbelt. Sometimes, I may have treated her like a little baby even though she was eight years old but that was because she was still so small in my eyes.

"Masy!" she shouted our brother's name who hummed and waved with one hand as he kept his head down and focused on the screen of his phone.

After she was comfortable and settled, I closed the door and got in my seat, too.

"Right. So, what do we think of pizza for a very late lunch but very early dinner?" I asked as I glanced up in the rear-view mirror then next to me where Mason sat.

"Yes!"

"Sound."

"Alrighty," I mumbled and started up the car. "Joe's, it is."

On the way, I asked Mason to book a table for us because it completely slipped my mind that we needed reservation for the place. We had to wait like an hour because of that but it was fine anyway because the traffic was terrible. Olivia controlled the music in the car which made Mason want to jump out of it and walk the rest of the distance. I found it hilarious.

We ordered right as we got our table. Mason and Oliva sat opposite to me on the bench and I was on an actual chair. I knew my sister would end up next to me eventually because she'd find it hard to deal with the food she wanted but that was fine. They both talked a lot about what happened this past week with them, not leaving anything out. The fact that they trusted me so much meant a great deal to me and I couldn't have been happier that they felt like they could tell me anything.

Sometimes, I felt like an extra father and mother figure in their eyes. Our mother always travelled for work and our father was busy with his job as well. Nothing had changed over the years; my siblings grew up the exact same way I did. Mum and dad were there for us as much as they could but for the most part, nannies and grandparents took over their main roles.

As I tried to answer every question whilst also eating my own food and cutting up Olivia's for her to eat, I could barely manage what was happening around us. I felt uncomfortable the more I felt a curious set of eyes burn in my back covered up by my black shirt. I looked around as discreetly as I could and then suddenly regretted it, too.

How the hell was she here?

Out of all the fucking restaurants in London, she was at the exact same one I decided to come to. I found that unbelievable. It also made me question whether she had someone track down my location at all times – she spotted me right away at her event and now she was at the same public place as I was.

"Liv, watch what you're doing, bloody hell!" Mason scolded our sister which made me narrow my eyes at him. There was no need for the mean voice.

"Sorry, Masy," she giggled and picked up the food that fell on her lap. Thank godness I made her put a napkin on her dress otherwise it would have stained her uniform. "Hal, can I get more garlic bread instead? I don't want pizza anymore."

"Sur-,"

"That's not fair!" Mason said under his breath. "I wanted garlic bread and you said no to me so you need to say no to her, too."

"Mason, come on," I laughed. "I didn't say no. I said eat what you wanted first and then you can order other stuff."

"Well, she didn't eat it but you were about to get her something else, regardless."

I groaned. I couldn't believe this. In a way, I understood where he came from because I was always more lenient with Olivia than with him. I kept Mason on a short leash and that was very wrong of me to do. I should have treated them the same way.

"How about everyone eats what they ordered? We're not going to waste food," I said sternly. Livvy crossed her arms over her stomach as she leaned back with pursed lips and furrowed eyebrows. "Don't look at me like that, missy."

"I want garlic bread!"

"And I want you to eat your food," I argued back. Mason didn't even bother to enter this conversation anymore, he just ate his burger.

"Harry, just get her the damn garlic bread. She's not going to stop whining until you spoil her."

"Come on, mate, don't be like that," I sighed.

"I'm not whining!" Olivia hit Mason's arm who dropped his burger and closed his eyes to hide the death stare in them.

Fucking hell.

"Alright. Quiet down. Both of you. I'm gonna go get both of you garlic bread for on the go because clearly, you are not culturized enough to eat out in public. Finish whatever you want, I'm asking them to box the rest up for you. Are we clear?" without even waiting for them to react to what I said, I pushed my chair out and left the table with my phone and wallet.

I decided I didn't want kids a while back but whenever I was with these two and they fought like that, it just confirmed how much I couldn't have dealt with children on the daily.

Right next to me, was another person paying for whatever and naturally, it caused my head to turn to the left. It was hard to hold down the smirk that was about to spread across my lips.

"If you keep up this spotting game, I'm going to just assume you are obsessed with me," I commented which caused the woman to chuckle under her breath.

"Please," she sighed as she pulled her card out of the machine. "You are the last person I would ever obsess over."

"Ouch," I placed my hand over my heart as I faked the hurt expression. She put her wallet away and put her bag on her shoulder as I paid for the food I ordered.

"Not to embarrass you, but you have crumbs all over your chest," instantly, my head turned downwards to check. Much to my surprise, there was nothing on my shirt and essentially, all I heard was a quiet chuckle. "You're too easy. See you later, Styles."

She even patted my shoulder as she walked by and I had to hold my comment back.

She was so infuriating.
