Giddy or Genuine? (Micah/June)
June was organizing the room, while Ms. Jones thanked her for helping her navigate the class dynamics
"It's fine, our main teacher seemed apathetic anyways. You could probably take her job in a few months."
"You're too kind. Wish me luck," before June had to catch her from falling when she slipped near a desk leg.
"Thanks. You're not going to lunch?"
"As class president it's my job to keep things tidy around her, and a club wants to use the room later," grunting, "if only someone else remembered that there's two presidents in this class!"
Micah yawned with a giddy look of fawning and admiration much to her annoyance while Ms. Jones hurried off.
"If you're not gonna help, why did you sign up to be co-president in the first place?"
"So I could bother you."
She sucked her teeth. "You convinced the teacher to let you be vice co-president just so you could spend time with me? Why?"
"Duh, I like you."
Her face turned red. "Stop joking around and be serious for once," lifting a box down only for him to takes it from her and resting, locking hands with her briefly.
"I'm not joking," losing his jovial tone, "and I'm not trying to make fun of you either."
She sighed, losing some fluster. "I'm not angry angry. Just, confused is all."
"Oh Great!"
"Are you trying to mess with...wait, are you asking me out?"
He nodded with glee and no tact. "Yeah! Will you go out with me?"
June had to take a step back, tightening her thoughts and her grip on his hand. "I'm not sure. With all due respect, you seem like the type to go around with all those girls I see you with."
"Huh? I haven't slept with them. We're both virgins right?"
Her whole face turned a lighter shade of brown as her head went in another direction. His grin took that as a yes and continued.
"Well they're like old friends from my middle group, but like I just hang out with them every now and then."
Shocked, she could barely stare him in the eye while processing that information and her feelings. "Well if you say so."
He loosened his hand, while the shape of his lips lowered. "Hold on, you think I'm lying don't you!?"
It was the first time she had heard genuine anger from his voice. "Well no, ah I didn't mean it like that," trying to deescalate the situation. "I meant to say-"
"You think I'm going around dropping my pants off and sliding it into any girl I meet? Is that how little you think of me?"
"No, I'm sorry but I-"
"And now you're wet & thinking 'bout me having sex," slightly snickering.
"Shut it!" She pulled away, slamming herself into the nearby locker. "I knew you were clowning you jerk! You can't be straight with someone for one second!"
"Sorry, I'm not used to-look out!"
She panicked as the box above the locker was about to fall. He quickly lifted up the desk, shielding her from the impact. June sighed in relief, thanking him.
"It's fine. No jokes," without chuckling. "Could you answer my question?"
June twirled her hair and her finger . Like if I'll go out with you? You could date anyone!"
He shook his head while leaning into his pocket. "June, lesbians and ace people exist."
"Fair point. Well yeah, I barely know you that much, who you are, what you like."
He rested the desk down and pointed a card to her. "I like you. You're the ace in my heart," lining it up to her face with the Ace of Hearts, and leaning closer. "Do you like me?"
Her eyes shifted left and right. "Well I'm not really good with dating, but we could start somewhere."
He cracked a devious smile, cutting her earnest response down to half.
"Awnh, June you're so precious."
"Leave me alone, I'll finish up the rest of this."
"Wait," his voice dropped, "So no answer."
"Why should I try when you'll laugh no matter what I say!"
"Mhmm, because you're so adorable."
Her cheeks bloated, and shut her mouth, barely knowing about how cheeky he could be.
"So I guess that's a no?"
"We'll talk about it another time, just help me focus on the room."
"So you don't hate me now?"
"I do n-"
"Hey, Micah, um Menma wants his cards back for the magic & performance club," said a older male with a slightly taller build, only to see June up in Micah's face. "Um, am I interrupting?"
Her brain and eyes focused on the heart as Micah veered away.
"Wait, you were serious?"
He dashed out of the room giggling and handing the cards back to the guy before running away and bursting out the seams.
June's head was fuming. "Get back here!"
The guy watched them race around the hall trying to make a mess of what happened when he got a phone call.
"Shane, did you get it? Hurry, I gotta impress Sento this year!"
"Alright alright, I'm coming. Sheesh, looks like everyone's falling in love," heading out. "Well, at least Luke and Jade are still together. Meet me in the classroom."
