Chapter 5 - Partners (Short Chapter, Sorry)

-Chapter 5-

~Tys POV~

In a few short moments, my entire world had managed to claw its own eyes out. My legs were shaking, my voice untrustable, and my hands gripping onto Ace's leash way too tight.

"Please...help..." The words pushed themselves up from my throat, desperate, BEGGING to be heard. They emptied out into the air, hallow, but there just the same.

Sky stared at me with wide eyes, his mouth hanging open slightly. He widened his lips, as if he were about to speak, then hurriedly closed them again. His eyes showed his inner conflict ; wanting to say something, but not knowing what.

Finally, his pupils turned hard, showing he had made his decision. With little to no regrets, he opened his arms, and pulled me into a big, massive bear hug. He let out a grunt and pulled me up, my feet swinging from the ground.

I sat, in his arms, in shock. So this is what it was like, to be hugged. This feeling was so foreign, so unfamiliar, but deep down, I knew I had experienced it before, probably with mother.

So, I assumed I knew what to do, and I slowly raised my arms, wrapping them around his own upper body.

I could nearly feel his grin as he squeezed my torso even tighter, pressing a kiss to the side of my face. This set yet another unfamiliar feeling to shoot through me, a hot feeling that flushed to my cheeks.

"Don't worry," his voice brought me back from my thoughts. "Just tell me what's wrong. I'll help as much as I can."

Why is this random man helping me so much? From what I've learned in my uneducated life, humans aren't kind. In fact, very few are. Even as one yourself, you need to be cautious of them. They will take your heart and smash it at the first opportunity they see.

"I-I..." I couldn't force the words out of my mouth, it brought too much pain to my heart.

A few silent moments passed, my own conflict going on strong. Do I tell him? Do I spill my story to this strange reason? Or do I play it say, not say anything. Maybe even run away.

"You..." Adams voice echoed through my ear. "You don't have to tell me. I mean, if you don't feel comfortable telling me right now, that's okay."

A giant relief rushing through my nerves, I nodded eagerly. "Y-Yes, please." I mumbled, looking away.

Suddenly, a hand grabbed my shoulder from behind. My entire body went rigid, and a scream fell from my lips as my eyes widened to the size of saucers.

I did the only thing I had ever been trained to do in my life. I began to run.

Unlike before, though, I wasn't able to get very far this time. Another hand grabbed mine, but this one was much more calm, much smoother. It's finger intertwined with mine, as if it was trying to comfort me.

"Ty," Adam whispered with concern in his eyes. "Don't worry. It's just the police. They're probably investigating the man who tried to take you."

Ace, who was sitting patiently at my feet before, began to walk ahead. I knew what he was implying. We could still run. I could get away now, and leave this mess behind. Adam is probably just putting on a show, he doesn't care, humans don't work like that...

I thought for too long. The police began talking, mostly directed at me.

"Tyler, could you tell us what happened?" Adams hand gently pulled me back, so I was standing next to him, his arm wrapped around my waist, in an attempt to calm down my obviously jumpy nerves.

With a shaking voice, I explained to them what had happened - leaving out the fact that I had bolted from the store - and watched their faces as I spoke. They showed little emotion, the type of human nature I was used to.

"Okay, thank you." The main one said after I had finished, a grin on his face. "You're free to go back to your family now."

I tensed, all of me expecting Sky to speak up, to cry out "oh no! He has no family!".

But he didn't.

His grip around my waist simply tightened, and he turned us around, calling a friendly "thank you!" Over his shoulder as we began walking in the opposite direction.

As soon as we were out of earshot from the police, Sky turned to me, his arm detached from around me and instead shoved into his pocket. "You're gonna stay at my house." He said as if it were nothing.

-3rd Person POV-

Ty opened his mouth, trying to interject and explain how much of a TERRIBLE IDEA that was, but Sky simply continued to ramble.

"My mom will be fine with it ; I've brought friends around suddenly and she didn't even notice." At the mention of his mom, Skys mood seemed to darken dramatically, his jaw setting and his eyes clouding over.

"O-Oh..." Was all Ty said in response, seeing no other possible answer.

Sky then stopped abruptly, turned to Ty, and grinned from ear to ear.

"You know, I think we're going to be great partners." He said softly.

And then, he kissed him.
